Unwanted cropping

i'm trying to make a photo book of my wedding & iphoto is cropping everything.
before you say i need to go & edit each of these pictures to fit the space ...
*these are high quality hdr photos which have already been professionally edited
*many of the photos are panoramic as i used a fashion photographer who's done people like black eyed peas & worked w/ bravo, so i don't think i should edit them AT ALL.
what i want is instead of the picture being cropped, it could just be smaller w/ blank space on the sides to let it fit the formats.
please help b/c this "user friendly" settings are really annoying my nerd self. why isn't there an option to just drag the corners for whatever size you want? not everyone wants boring 4x6 photos, ya know?

Photos books frames are 4:3 ratio - either crop to that ratio or in the book right click on the photo and choose "fit to frame" (this will leave blank space to fill the frame) -- or use the zoom and move controls to display the portion of the photo that you want
Note that iPhoto is a consumer program designed around point and shoot digital cameras that pretty much universally shoot 4:3 photos
If the right click and fit to frame is not supported then you choices are to crop the photo to the correct ratio or to use the zoom and move controls

  • Unwanting Cropping function - CS3 Illustrator to pdf

When saving an ai-file to pdf (CS3), the pdf-file is cropped to the documentsize. I can not see fx. colorelements larger than the documentformat, which can be needed when I do a job for printing (and cutting).
CROP AREA is set to release in OBJECT. I did not have that problem whith CS2 - and I'm not going to upgrade to CS4 right now.
    PLEASE HELP

You will have to make your document size larger.
In other words, if you have an 8.5" x 11" page do this:
Create your Trim Marks by using Filter > Create Crop Marks (Do not use the Object > Crop Area)
THEN change your document larger by an inch, so that it's 9.5" x 12".
Now, when you create your PDF it will have the trim marks and the bleed.

  • Unwanted crops in photobooks

iPhoto '11 ver 9.4.3 crops my photos when I place them on photobooks.
It crops them and does not let me decide which image portions to show. I really cannot understand why it hates me.
So I am asking if someone knows a way to have iPhoto fall in love with me thus allowing me to create a photobook.
Luckily the problem appeared when I was preparing the front page.
If I choose the full-page template (where a photo occupies the entire cover) I have this results, which is correct. The left tower is shown entirely.
If I choose other layouts, iPhoto crops the tower. I could not find any way to have it change its idea:
As you can see the top part of the image has been cropped out. There is no way to drag down the image.
    Another layout:
Even if I zoom in the image cannot be dragged down.
I am aware of all the limitations in the printing process, but they should not prevent you from zooming-in and dragging down the image.
Is there a solution or must I conclude that I cannot use iPhoto for photobooks?
( I have already tried to modify the aspect ratio of the photo without any success )
    Cheers

    I did not.
** The screenshots are with the image set to "fit to frame" **

  • Unwanted cropping in iMovie for the iPad

So I am working on an iMovie trailer for the iPad. I shot the clips I wanted to add with my iPod touch 4g and I sent them all to my iPad through iMessage. I saved them to the iPad and opened iMovie and went to where it showed all the videos I had saved on my iPad. It showed the whole clip when you looked at it there, but when you added it to the trailer it cut off the top of the clip. In some clips it looks alright, but in most it totally cuts off the head. The trailer mainly consists of feet and legs the whole time because of this, and I was wondering if there was a way to crop it differently, maybe a way to crop the bottom and keep the top, or maybe a way to flit the whole clip in the frame?

iMovie edits video wide; similar to televisions.
So you need to shoot video wide, not tall to view the whole image.
So when. You import tall video iMovie crops it to fit the frame.
There is no other workaround, only to shoot wide like the trailer.
If you want to shoot and edit tall video you need to get a different app.

  • Final Cut Express 4 - unwanted cropping

My video is cropped during exporting, and I don't know why. I'm shooting HD video (1280 x 720) with my Canon G12 camera. The Final Cut Express 4 project has the same dimensions in the setup. When I view the imported video in the project, it looks great. The export dimension are the same, but the final movie is cropped!? Please help. My mac OS is 10.5.8, and Final Cut Express 4 is version 4.0.1.

Here's an update. I'm happy to report that I found a sulution to the problem. Someone recommended using software called Streamclip. I open the original MOV file in Streamclip, and Streamclip reformats the file in a way that FCE4 can work with it easier. I appologize for the oversimplified explanation. I'm new to video editing, so I'm not up to speed on proper terminology. The bottom line is this.
1 - I can open the reformatted file in FCE4 and apply effects and add multiple tracks with various compositing effects without rendering every time I make the smallest change. This changes the work flow from completely unexceptable to reasonable.
2 - When I export, the movie doesn't have unexpected cropping.
Here's a link to the Streamclip software site. http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
    Thanks again for your help.

  • HD movie and iPhone movie unwanted cropping to iPhone

I am merging a movie taken  on a high quality HD camera and a iPhone video. I iPhone video is cropped when I put it in the timeline but not when I view it in the source panel. Is there any way around this? I realize there is a quality difference but want to see more of the iPhone area.

can try right click the clip in timeline and choose "scale to frame size".  if that doesn't help can try adjusting it thru the effects controls window, motion > scale.

  • 4 x 6 gets unwanted cropping

I want to print as a 4x6 photo but the preview shows top and bottom cropped. I don't want the photo cut off. The only way I seem to be able to get the whole picture in is to print larger. How can I get the whole thing in a 4x6?

    hwms:
What you're going to have to do is select 4 x 6 as the paper size and then select a custom print size of 5.32 x 4 that will fit on a 4x6 paper like shown here. That's the only way you can get all of the 4:3 photo onto a 4x6 page.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Video is Randomly Cropped

    Hi there,
So I have a screen capture recorded in the Apple Intermediary Codec . . . as edit the video and FCX renderes the video in the background - anywhere the orange bar has dissapeard my video is randomly cropped. This shows both in the preview and export.
I have been only been able to get the unwanted cropping to go away by deleting the project render files.
Any ideas for how to avoid/fix this? Other then turning off the automatic background rendering?
    -Alex

Here is the information from the movie inspector:
    Format:
    Apple Intermediate Codec, 1440 x 900, Millions
    AAC, Stereo (L R), 44.100 kHz
    FPS:
    16.91
    Data Size:
    1.63 GB
    Data Rate:
    27.64 Mbit/s
    As for the project settings:
    1080p HD
    1440x1080 | 23.98p
    Surround | 48kHz
Now . . . I know that the resolutions don't match up, however I wasn't seeing how to set up a project with anything but the premade templates - or in other words I don't know how to set up a project with 1440 x 900 as the resolution.
I hope this illuminates my problem a bit.
    Thanks!!!

  • Cropped view on the web

i am currently taking an online class. I don't think we are able to download the quicktime files for viewing. however I am still waiting on that answer. First I realized that on my xp64 I couldn't view the controls because 64bit and quicktime aren't supported together. I went and purchased a toshiba nb205 notebook and it has a 10in screen and the quicktime file i was trying to view was cropped. I played around with the zoom controls in the navigation window but made things worse. I then purchase quicktime 7 pro thinking I was going to get view controls or atleast a codec of sorts to help with the unwanted cropping of my video file. That didn't work either. Any suggestions because I am frankly tired of buying more stuff that doesnt work.

    Here's the website:
    http://www.uky.edu/~gbould/Welcome.html
In addition to your other problems, you failed to preserve the iWeb site structure by failing to upload the folder which has the same name as your site does inside iWeb. This, plus the index.html file published alongside it, are the two items which should always be uploaded.
Also your server is forcing all browsers into the wrong encoding. You will need to talk to the people running it about that or add an .htaccess file to your space. See this note:

  • How can I change a print page orientation from portrait to landscape

How can I change the page orientation when printing from portrait to landscape?

By setting the print size  --  ie rather than 6x4 use 4x6 - and to avoid unwanted cropping you need to crop the photo to the target ratio before printing ( you can undo the crop after printing if you do not want it to be permanent)

  • Image Capture behaves funnily under SnowLeopard

    Dear Folks,
I have an Epson scanner, that is not likely to be supported under Snow.
Therefore I am happy that Image Capture can handle it.
However, this software seems to be too clever by half.
I scanned the first page of iWork, and Image Capture went immediately into research mode.
It successfully found "elements" that it thought to be independent, and produced 3 files:
one for "Wo", one for "T" and one that I wanted, "iWork".
I did not ask for this analysis and extra files.
First I thought that this facility was planned to find out if there were many different things on
the platen and scan/file separately. Not the elements of a single item.
Anyone who knows how to turn off this very silly behaviour?

The problem is that whether the Detect Separate Items was and was not turned on, it made no difference.
After quick pre-scan, the user should be able
to draw around the thing it wants to scan at high resolution.
Mike-o, I might have a workaround for you.
First to recap ... I have the same problem with my Epson Stylus Photo RX500. The "Detect Separate Items" behavior occurs even when I uncheck the box before clicking Show Details. And still persists if I uncheck the box in the Show Details pane and redo the Overview scan.
Try this as a possible workaround:
    Show Details
    (an automatic Overview scan occurs)
    Uncheck Detect Separate Items.
Eliminate the unwanted crop areas by clicking in the frame and hitting delete.
Then select the portion you want to scan by dragging the mouse pointer.
    Click Scan.
Using this method I was able to get a single (full-page) output image.
The crucial step is deleting the unwanted crop areas before selecting the full page.

  • Hey everybody... I have an image that I would like to produce multiple images on the same page ...same image just 25 times on one page can anyone help me?

hello everyboby...I am have a difficult time trying to take one image and reproduce it 25 times on the same page......can anyone help me?

You certainly are not following my work flow - that is the info window in the main iPhoto window
I said (steps numbers for ease of following my work flow)
1 - Simply select the photo and
    2 - print,
    3 - select the printer,
4 - Select the paper size and
5 - select a print size (keep the image ratio in mind so you do not get unwanted cropping)  that will fit the required number of photos on the page with small borders - you have to do the math - and
6 - if the preview does not show multiples of the same photo click customize,
    6 a - click settings and
6 b - select multiples of the same photo on a page -
the preview will reflect this selection - and
    7 - print
Nothing about getting info for the photo in the iPhoto window

  • Crop unwanted area from scanned image

    Hi,
We are doing a project to scan A4 size( some time smaller size ) paper documents and store it in the database. We want to develop an interface to scan with out any user interaction - like boundary selection - other than clicking a button to scan.We are able to set all other parameters to scan correctly except the boundary selection. So the problem is the scanned image contains a black area after the paper size ( we are doing grayscale). Is there anyway to crop the unwanted area ?If possible can we do the same to reduce the margin on all four sides? Please help...

  • Unwanted default to 'constrain aspect ratio' of crops

    Lightroom 2.6 Mac.
Recently I've been annoyed that when I come to crop images the program defaults to 'constrain aspect ratio' which I don't usually want. It's easy enough to press the 'a' key toggle to unset this but when I come to crop the next image it usually (but not always) resets to constrain again.
This is a new problem and I can't think of any obvious reason or way to fix it. Any ideas?

In the develop module, I made sure the constrain aspect ratio was unlocked and then double-clicked on the words next to the lock to get the menu of choices, I chose "original" which has kept the crop free to choose crops with no constraint.
