Unwanted drift in my 2d raster scan image

My program will give two analog output signals (one is a triangle output voltage and other is  step voltage) to the two physical channels of NI DAQmx Analog Output block. By these two voltage; it will perform a 2D raster scan using a scanning stage. Now; during each scanning point; it will acquire input signal from the detector. And then it will generate a text image by reading voltage at each sample point. Though my program is working, but
there is a drift(shows an incline line rather than a straight line) appears during the scan when I scan a straight line.
I’ve attached you two scattering images; one was a scanning of a straight line. But the scattering image was showing a drift. And other image is single nanoparticle scattering where also you can see the drift in the point spread function (focal spot). I've also attached a screen shot of the block diagram of my program.
I just can't solve this drift.
What I'm doing is to try to recode the same code of an old version (labview 5) into a new version (2010).
I'm not an expert in Labview and need an urgent help regarding this issue.

Hi Taylor
Yes, these channels are on the same device.
Can you please suggest me what I should do to start and stop the task at the same time!
I've attached the codes for you.
Thanks

  • Crop unwanted area from scanned image

    Hi,
We are doing a project to scan A4 size( some time smaller size ) paper documents and store it in the database. We want to develop an interface to scan with out any user interaction - like boundary selection - other than clicking a button to scan.We are able to set all other parameters to scan correctly except the boundary selection. So the problem is the scanned image contains a black area after the paper size ( we are doing grayscale). Is there anyway to crop the unwanted area ?If possible can we do the same to reduce the margin on all four sides? Please help...

I only use Image Capture, so I can't speak for other software.
Here is how I select a Scan To destination:
If you are using the minimal details screen, you should have the same submenu to the left of the page size.

  • Counter issues with 2D raster scan and count acquisition

I am building a confocal laser scanning microscope and am currently attempting to develop labview controls for it. I have a fast steering mirror (FSM) which takes analog voltage inputs to control it's x and y angle and I have an avalanche photo diode (APD) which sends a TTL pulse for each photon detection event. For now, I am trying to create a program which will send out two analog signals to create a 2d raster scan with the FSM and count the number of pulses from the APD per pixel. I have been trying to make the program from https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-5779 work, but I keep running into counter issues. I am using a generated pulse train from the other counter on my device (NI 6011E) as the period.term input, but I get a "Two consecutive input signals occurred without a counter timebase edge" error if I increase the frequency of the pulse train too high. Unfortunately, the number of pixels I can acquire seems to be limited to twice the frequency of the counter, so I cannot just use a lower frequency train. I believe that the error is occurring because the count rate from the APD is very low and that there are simply no photons hitting the detector in the time period between pulses. This is not a problem, but I would like to know how to simply record a 0 and continue with the scan, rather than have the entire program exit with an error.
Alternatively, if this does not seem like the correct way to accomplish what I am trying to do, I am open to new directions.

So simply ignoring the error did not work, because the DAQmx subroutine stops collection when the error is detected. I think I may need to come up with a different approach to synchronize the counting of TTL pulses with an analog output. Attached below is the code I have been working with.

  • Restoring .dmg image from external to Mac HD in Disk Utility: "Unable to scan image (Input/output error)"

    Hi guys,
So I've got a problem with restoring the image backup I did (using Disk Utility) of my 500GB HD on my MBP which was acting weird or maybe even crashed a few months ago. After creating the backup image and putting it on my external device, I installed Mavericks back to see if everything was alright (mainly the HD) and everything seems okay.
I did try restoring the backup image through disk utility before installing mavericks (thus erasing everything again on the HD) AND after. But nothing..
The whole process starts fine and then it starts scanning the image when after maybe a good 10-15min in I get a message that says that it was unable to scan the image. I tried verifying the disk(s), everything came out "OK". Also tried scanning it through Images > Scan image for Restore... with the same results.
While searching I've seen people getting messages like "Unable to scan filename.dmg (Invalid argument)" and "Unable to scan filename.dmg
(Internal error)" but none have (Input/output error)
    The screen grab is below.
I also came across something about using terminal/commands but I'm not that savvy with it, especially considering that those there had issues with either mounting or trouble finding the image.
I've also tried moving the backup image to a different external device 2TB and also the desktop because I read it may have to do with the format of the externals or maybe free space. But THEN I would get a message saying
"The Finder can't complete the operation because some data in "Mac HD Backup.dmg" can't be read or written. Error code -36"
Fyi ALL my externals are HFS+/Journaled and the backup image format was compressed.
I REALLY don't know what to do next. Was it the wrong move to create a dmg image? Have I lost everything? Is there still a way out?
    If anyone can help, THANKS!
    2012 MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.9.3)

Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider. You may have to leave the machine there for several days.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional—ask if you need guidance.
If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair
Apple also recommends that you deauthorize a device in the iTunes Store before having it serviced.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

  • Disk Utility: What does "scan image for restore" do?

Before restoring a disk image, I know that I need to use Disk Utility's "Scan Image for Restore…" feature.
Exactly what does this feature do?

    I asked because I didn't know.
I was helping someone upgrade his PowerMac G5 from the original 80GB hard drive to a 1TB drive.
Since the G5 can accommodate two internal drives, I could have simply added the new drive and used Disk Utility's "restore" feature to migrate his data directly from the old drive to the new drive.
But it was more convenient for me to work at home so I removed the old drive, and brought it home along with the new drive.
I couldn't connect both drives to my MacBook Pro, since I only have one SATA drive dock. So I did it like this:
    1. Connected the old drive to my SATA dock.
    2. Create a disk image from his old drive, saving it to an external USB drive.
    3. Disconnected the old drive from the SATA dock and connected the new one.
    4. Restore the disk image to the new drive
Of course, when I tried step 4, I got an error message about needing to do a scan first. That's what led me to this question.
I have a follow-up question: When I created the image, I didn't bother changing the default image format, which is "compressed." If I had given the matter a little thought, I could have created a read-only image, since I would never need to change the image.
If I had used read-only, would Disk Utility have created the checksums on-the-fly when it created the disk image?

  • How to highlight / draw onto a pdf document that is a scanned image, then save the added elements

    Hello
I'd like to add markings / little annotations or highlight as if with a color marker various sections of a scanned image that has been sent to me in pdf format, which I visualize with Adobe Reader 9 on my PC (Windows). I need to save the changes and then send it back by e-mail to the original sender.
So far I've been awkwardlky making copies of my screen (PrintScreen function) of each individual page of the pdf document, then pasting them into PowerPoint slides, then using various PPT drawing and textbox functions to add my stuff to the, now, PPT file, which then I sent back as such. This is very time-consuming and ridiculous and there's got to be another way of adding these changes within Adobe Reader or another similar software, doesn't it?
Again, the pdf docs that I need to work on are scanned images (medical charts), not actual copiable text (pardon my ignorance of the correct terminology to explain this).
    Thank you for your help,
    Falingo

    So the solutions are:
    1. "Buy Acrobat"....which Adobe Acrobat ?....Stanard, Pro, etc (...obviously I'd like the most basic and cheapest...which one is that?)
    or
    2. "Enable doing that in the Reader"....how exactly am I supposed to do that?

  • Scanned image in Browser is not getting refreshed

    Hi
We are facing a strange issue. We have scanned an invoice and this is stored in the R/# system. Now when the user clicks on a scanned image the user gets a scanned document that he has opened previous to this. Now once h closes this and again clicks then he gets the correct scanned image. This is being experienced by only a handful of users. I think it might be some Browser related issue. Can anyone throw some light how to solve this issue.
    No experts on this topic
Any answer will be highly appreciable.

    Hi,
In DC10 we define the document type and the default application to open that perticular documents. for ex document type images and default application type JPEG etc.
. now whenever you create any document with Doc type and attach the documents and after try to view the documents system will treat the originals as images of type JPEG and try to open with the workstation application like paint, image viewer
I hope your doubt clear abt dc10.

  • VBA code to import scanned images into Photoshop CS2 with TWAIN

    Hi,
I have to develop a solution that automates the scanning of an image using the TWAIN driver interface. Once scanned, the image appears as a new document in Photoshop where it will be further processed using VBScript scripts.
    The solution so far :
Using the freeware 'EZTW32.dll' (copied into C:\WINDOWS\System\), I am able to open the TWAIN scan dialogue on screen, using the function 'TWAIN_AcquireToClipboard(Me.Hwnd, nPixTypes) from the 'EZTW32' dll.
Once the image is scanned, the TWAIN driver is automatically closed, leaving the scanned image on the Windows clipboard.
I then launch Photoshop CS2 using a shell code :
(It is important that Photoshop runs minimized)
    Dim strPathname As String
    Dim lngShellReturn As Long
    Dim appRef As Object
    Dim newDocRef
    strPathname = "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\Photoshop.exe"
    lngShellReturn = Shell(strPathname, vbMinimizedNoFocus)
    Set appRef = CreateObject("Photoshop.Application")
When Photoshop is running, then a new document is created and the scanned image is pasted into the document from the Windows clipboard...
    Set newDocRef = Documents.Add(8.268, 11.693, 600, "New Doc")
    newDocRef.Paste
OK, this works up to a point. The newly scanned image appears automatically in Photoshop.
The big problem is that when the user makes a change in resolution or draws a selection box in the TWAIN dialog, this data is not recovered from TWAIN, so the image size parameters in the new document cannot be set.
A beter solution would be to write code that emulates the menu commands in Photoshop CS2:
File -> Import -> [Current Scanner]
that launches the TWAIN driver for the current scanner (the code must close TWAIN immediately after scanning). In this case, the resolution and image selection parameters are also imported into the new document.
I am currently refering to the Photoshop CS2 SDK. Do I need to request the Advanced SDK ?
Once beyond this point, then I think I can continue the image processing routines using VBScript as per the SDK.
Any help or other pointers to the TWAIN problem would be VERY APPRECIATED !
    Lars

PLEASE IGNORE MY PREVIOUS POST !
I have now fully resolved the TWAIN problem. It works perfectly and is very robust. I am now continuing with the batch image processing for the newly scanned images using the Photoshop CS2 SDK scripting documents, that I find very detailed, well written, and VERY helpful :)
    Peace and love,
    Lars

  • Print-off the scanned images for vendor invoices

    Required report.
Print-off the scanned images for vendor invoices
Basically, his selection screen will be:
                Vendor Invoice   XXXXXXXXXX  to    XXXXXXXXXX
Once the user executes the program a list of invoices is presented to the screen.
Then the user will be able to select one or several of these invoices and click a ‘print’ button.
However, the attachments are stored in Adobe .pdf format.
    Kind Regards
    Mark H,

    Hi,
Write a report to fetch the data from Tables RBKP and RSEG for the vendor INvoices,  based on the Invoice No(BELNR) entered on the Selection screen.
display them with the required fields on the first list. Take a single  CHAR field in the internal table for CHECK BOX and display that Internal Table fields.
Keep buttons (SELECT and PRINT) on the MENU of the output screen  for processing the selected records on the output and printing the selected records in the interactive report using AT USER-COMMAND function.

  • Need help editing scanned images of old photo album pages PSE 9

Before I begin this project, I thought I'd get some advice from someone who has undertaken a similar project.  I have three photo albums from the 50's and 60's.  The albums were made by my mother who mounted the photos (mostly black and white but some color photos) on construction paper (of various colors) using the corner holders or glue.  She hand cut the construction paper so each page is not a perfect rectangle ( about 11" tall, 8.5" wide).  The pages were punched and put into a three-ring binder.
She added text to the edge of the photo and/or to the construction paper.  Each page contains one to 6 photos and text.  Each album has about 120 pages.  I want to keep the notes on the construction paper so I scanned each page into a TIF files, 400 dpi and stored the images in a separate folder for each volume.
I use (poorly) PSE 9.  I see it has a auto straighten/crop feature that can be used one photo at a time.  I tried the divide scanned images function and that did not fully separate all images on the page and also created an image for stray objects on the page such as an unused corner holder.  (I know those things have a better name but it escapes me now.)
I plan to create photo books for my siblings.  I am now thinking of cropping the image of each page (rather than each photo on the page) into a uniform size, adjusting levels, contrast and sharpness, saving this image to a JPEG file, and using these edited JPEG images to create the photo book.  Since each page was hand-cut, there will areas of white where one page was torn or cut smaller than another page.  Some pages will have blanks where old photos have been lost leaving behind only the corner things.  It won't be perfect but it will be an image of the album as it exists today.
    My questions are:
The pages are about 11 by 8.5.  Does anyone know a photo service that prints photo albums in a portrait layout in this size?  I  have been unable to find one; it looks like most online photo books are wider rather than taller.
Let's assume I use a company such as Shutterfly that offers a 12x12 format.  I assume it would be better to edit the images in PSE9 rather than any online software.  What should I do to keep the proportions in the current images true but make the image fit a 12x12 page, for example?
IS there any other editing software anyone can recommend that will speed this up, hopefully a software that would take multiple photos at one time, auto-straighten and auto crop to a set size?  And also auto contrast/level/sharp.  If I could use such auto features on these images and then go back and adjust the photos that did not play well with the auto features, that would save me time.
I appreciate anyone's input.  I dread doing this but we have one set of photos and 5 siblings so it has to be done.  Thanks!

    Hi,
Mentioning your issues one by one:
    1) PSE does not have any portrait Photobook available, so your thought was the best way to get the work done is by choosing the 12x12 - shutterfly one.
    2) PSe does a good job of editing the images. You can set your images of approx. 11x8  size to fit to the 12x12 page. Just choose a one photo page Layout for the page and then right click on the image to " Fit photo in the frame".
    3) If more edits are required for the image, you can easily go to Advanced mode and edit your photos, layouts, move the frames, images or add effects to the images.
    4) Photo book creation sure takes time. because, you want it to be the best. I am sure PSE would help you best here.
Go ahead and create you photobook. Inc ase you get stuck somewhere, you can always post here to get help!
    Cheers,
    Swarnima

  • Why is 100% scanned image not = to 100% zoom in CS5??

Using OS X 10.6.7 and CS5 Extended: I am having full size patterns scanned by a reprographics company as tif files. On average the full size patterns will be from 40" to 60" (100%). Yet when I open them with CS5 and zoom to 100 % in order to 'clean up' the designs on the pattern, the image is way larger than the hard copy pattern - more like 500%. I've noticed in one instance that zooming to 33% is closer to actual size. The image file from the full size scan opens as 2% .tif(Bitmap). How is it that 33% zoom gives me closer to actual (scanned image) than the 100% that I would expect? Thanks to anyone who can help clear this up for me.

100% means actual pixels, not actual size of the item being scanned. If your monitor displays  100 pixels per inch an image scanned at 300 ppi will look three times larger than actual at 100%.
    thanks to MBlackburn.

  • Acrobat X Pro-no scanned images visible

I recently bought Acrobat X Pro and try as hard as I can, I cannot get any scanned images to show up. The pages are gray. A pdf from Word, etc. is all right, but not if it's a scanned image. I went throught a couple of the tutorials on how to scan documents, but so far nothing has worked.  Google Books that were downloaded as PDFs earlier are the same way. Only the 1st page with the Google blurb shows up. All other pages are gray. I can open and read them in Reader X.
