Unwanted duplicate thumbnails in workspace.

I just purchased and installed Elements 9. When installingt, the program automatically indexed my photos on the HDDs and created thumbnails in the workspace of the organizer. Problem is that I got duplicate thumbnails for photos residing in different areas of the HDDs (even though it´s the same photo)
Anyway to filter or something so the duplicate thumbnails are not shown? deleting one by one seems like an endless job as it´s about 10.000 photos (most of them having duplicates on the workspace..)
Thanks for any input

EDIT:
Select a batch and right click - then choose:
Visibility >>Mark As Hidden
You can show the hidden files at anytime using the View menu.

  • Why are their duplicate thumbnails of my photo files?

I've noticed recently that when I view my photos in my iphoto libraries, many are duplicated - without my having done so. When I am in "edit" mode and have highlighted one of the duplicated photos, both copies are highlighted in blue in the thumbnail version above. How can I get rid of these second copies???

I have also been having a problem with duplicate thumbnails. iPhoto is creating duplicates when importing from my Pentax Optio 5i.
As per previous posts when I select one, both photos are sometimes selected, not always. If only one is selected and I drag it to the trash both photos are deleted.
I have tried re-indexing everything (alt+command) when starting iPhoto but no change.
I have iPhoto 5.0.4 - It seems this is a real buggy application. I also have a problem that most "film rolls" seem to have a 2004 date and the same photos, even though info on the photos shows 2005, also the last roll only shows some photos from about 4 imports ago!

  • Deleting some photos in album; unwanted duplicate photos appear

I am a new Aperture 3 user. I imported photos from iphoto, and some appeared as dupliocates. I edited one of the copies, and then tried to delete the unwanted duplicate from the album, and I am not able to do so. Help!!

I've been hunting around for the "missing" photos and I looked in the iphoto library folder on my hard drive and found a folder called albumdata.xml. Inside were all of the albums and lists of numbers that obviously correspond to photos, but which don't have obvious correlations. Does anyone know how to find out how iphoto numbers the photos in my library so I can quickly find these photos and put them back in my book? I have over 5000 photos, and chose 200 of them for the book. I could go back through all 5000, but I'd rather start from where I left off, or at least use the data that is stored for the book, even if these photos aren't showin gin the "unplaced photos" area. Thank you!
    By the way - for clarity, here is what I found for my book in the xml file: "AlbumName Birth Book KeyList 1362 1372 1326 1352 1324 1345 1342 1336 1331 1234 1299 1292 1286 1285 1258 1436 1437 1441 1447 1461 1563 1470 1467 1573 1576 1546 1543 1542 1541 1555 1595 1553 1583 1622 1634 1653 1662 1690 1700 1735 1738 1744 1812 526 1835 1959 2253 2264 2309 2323 2360 2361 2370 2377 2305 1918 485 515 448 909 913 928 953 957 961 978 989 1019 1176 1184 1209 3179 3054 3064 3193 3452 3462 3339 3470 3483 3487 3512 3537 3549 3558 3373 3563 3697 3708 4004 4038 4042 4052 4060 4090 4102 4116 4182 4284 4582 4634 4636 4704 4758 4764 4775 4839 4789 4791 4821 4813 4980 5405 5429 5461 5517 5548 5716 5574 5638 6709 6711 6685 6445 6451 7082 7128 7132 7140 7176 7401 7405 7407 7598 7600 7750 7808 7928 10882 10894 9181 9329 9365 9959 10117 10125 10133 10157 10175 10209 10219 10263 10433 8304 8320 8350 8396 8424 8456 8600 8608 8646 8696 8742 8820 10904 10908 8210 8214 8872 10653 10657 10675 10924 10938 10950 10992 10994 11004 11008 11012 11410 11420 11444 11456 11462 11468 11510 11516 11530 11532 11534 11544 11550 11552 11556 11558 11562 11564 11590 11646 11658 11829 11847 11895 11899 11901 Album Type Book PhotoCount 207"

  • How can I delete the duplicate "ESSENTIALS" in workspace ?

The problem is testing the Program, I typed the the word ESSENTIALS and saved it. But you cannot delete it, even after you choose it for deletion.
I tried looking(search bar) for the folder in the Program file installed in. There was no such file.
Tried re-installing the program and deleting the program folder it came with, still no luck in removing the duplicates after installing it again. Tried it 3 times.
Does anyone here, knows another way?

I am using Windows. But I was able to find the workspace in C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Bridge CS6\Workspaces
I deleted all the workspace and now it reverted back to its default state. Thank you

  • Duplicate thumbnails in my Web Gallery album

I just upgraded to iLife/iPhoto 08 and I made a web gallery with some selected images. All the images are on the actual website (the link), but in iPhoto the thumbnails for those images show up a duplicates (in some cases there are 5 of the same thumbnail). the total number of photos lists 220 when there are really only 52. What is going on? Anyone have a similar problem?
I've tried quitting, restarting, clearing cache (wondering if it was my browser that was not correct).

    Rick:
Mount your iDisk and go to the Web/Sites/-gallery folder. See how many folders are located in there. You might have to delete them all via the Finder and republish your galleries again.
By the way, your 112 Tokyo gallery is listed at 101 photos when I visit. Wonderful pictures.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Duplicate thumbnails

Somehow, I've made a library management error. The photos in this particular project are filed in chronologically named folders (2007, 2008 etc with sub-sets of albums). The thumbnails in each of the albums are fine - no problem. But in the project itself, 75% of the 2008 thumbnails have been accidentally duplicated, some three times over. Although there are a raft of problems associated with A3, I don't think this is one of them - and is more likely to be something I've carelessly done.
Any bright ideas out there as to what I might have done to cause this headache? And is there any convenient way (other than laboriously selecting and deleting) to eliminate the duplicate copies of thumbnails? And how will I accurately determine which is the duplicate anyway?

    Hi,
    Two ideas.
The first possibility is that you have 'create new version on adjustment' turned on in the Advanced section of Preferences. You only need to make a very slight change and a new version is made if that is on.
Could you have somehow inadvertently created additional versions. If you do not have Metadata Expanded View turned on you would not see the subtitles on the thumbnails. This control is access from the label icon with a star logo on it the farthest left of the group at the bottom right corner of the window in Browser mode and one place farther right in Split Mode. Versions are normally labelled such to assist identification. If you attempt to discard a Master which you can do, you get a warning first.

  • Duplicate queues in workspace

Livecycle 8.0.1, JBoss, RH Linux, Oracle 10 database
We imported a workflow from our dev system to our system test system and pushed some process instances through.
Unfortunately, the group queue for one of the user steps had not been set up correctly so five processes stalled at that step.
Using Workbench, I corrected the queue name in the user step to match the group name in the admin UI. I then retried the stalled process instances.
After the retries, in the workspace, each user in the group could see five duplicate copies of the queue, each with one of the previously stalled process instances in it. Completing the tasks did not cause the duplicate queues to go away.
Having had a poke around in the Oracle database, I notice that TB_QUEUE has five rows in it with different id's but the same title. All other data in the rows is the same. Can I just delete the four duplicate rows to make the problem go away? If I do that, it seems I'll have to check TB_ASSIGNMENT to make sure the queue ids are not in use. Do I need to do anything else?

    Clear what from the adminui?
The process instance have long since gone to completion but the duplicate queues remain.
I realise it's generally a bad idea to remove stuff from the database, but we are talking about corruption introduced by a bug in LiveCycle here.

  • Duplicate rows in workspace

One of my users made some "adjustments" (still not fully sure what he did) to a workspace in our production database. Another user then went into the same workspace and made over 100 changes. When attempting to merge, ORA-0001 unique constraint errors appeared. I was able to remove the duplicate rows from the table, but I am still receiving duplicate entries in the aux table.  Due to the number of changes, they do not want to drop the workspace and start from scratch.  Any idea as to how to remove the duplicate entries from the AUX table without messing up all of the workspaces?

Hi Ben, thank you for your response. Here is what I would like to try:
    1. Use the ROWID to remove the duplicate rows (17 rows)
    2. Export the remaining rows to a staging table then delete them from the table
    3. Merge the workspace forcing all of the changes into the parent table
    4. Option (a) Import the erred 17 rows and see if I still get the same AUX duplicate unique key errors
    5. Option (b) Export the rows from another workspace and import them into the erred workspace
    6. Option (c) Drop the workspace and re-create it. Have the user manually add the missing rows
Option C is a "can't find any other way around it" option. I think that I have a fighting chance with one of these options. I will put in a TAR if this doesn't work.

  • Strange duplicate thumbnail problem

I have done something wrong in the Organizer & I can't figure out what I did.  I can see lots of pairs of thumbnails that appear to be identical & if I click on properties between any of these pairs I can see that every detail is identical with the second thumbnail except that one has a tag on it & the second one hasn't.
If I click on either the first or second picture & delete it I then find that the other picture is unconnected.  I can restore the picture by using undo.   I then select both thumbnails & ask that they be displayed side by side.  Only one picture is displayed..
Whats going on & how do I fix it? Are these really duplicates?

I did what you suggested change the name of the thumb5 cache to include 'old' prefix.  I reopened the  program but nothing happened as far as I can see.  I got the catalogue location from File>Catalog location where there are 3 options.  All users, current user & Custom location.
It was in the custom location that it listed the catalog.  I'm beginning to doubt if I changed the correct folder because both the old & the new folder are only 10.k each & if they have thumbnail data for every picture the file size should be much bigger. shouldn't that be so?
If the program is going to regenerate new thumbnails for all picture I suspect that this might be a good time to change the default size for each thumbnail, correct?  I have always noticed that when I click on a large thumbnail that what appears on the screen is being generated by the thumbnail & the results is a clearer larger image.

  • Adobe Acrobat combining multiple pdf files causes unwanted duplicates

    Hello All,
We're having an issue trying to combine multiple pdf documents into a single file. It doesn't happen all of the time, but what happens is the final pdf will have duplicate pages in them. A file that should only have 7 pages will have 14, the last 7 being repeats of the first 7. Has anyone encountered this issue and know how to resolve it? We're still using Acrobat 7 on Windows XP. Thanks for your help!

Thanks, but they're not dynamic forms with specific names, just straight up pdf documents with text and images. They are invoices from an automated process that create the pdf documents. The process itself does not use dynamic forms with specified field names. Not to mention every document created is exactly the same except for the customer info and images. The individual documents are then manually combined together by an office person and that is where we're having the problem. The issue does not happen all the time, just occasionally. Sorry if I didn't specify this in my original post.

  • Unwanted duplicates when saving pdf's in Reader

Compared to other problems, more of an inconvenience -
    but time consuming none-the-less:
    using Adobe Reader 10.1.1
    Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 (11C74):
when I request to "save as" a pdf,
Reader will save a duplicate copy -
to both the location I specify (with a chosenfilename.pdf)
    as well as
    to my desktop (with originalfilename.pdf).
This has been happening for the last several itterations of Reader,
but did not happen with Reader version 9.
Suggestions on how to augment this duplication so that
only my specified copy, with specified location and filename,
    is saved?

There is nothing Reader is doing that could be the cause of this. Where are you doing a save as from? Where is the original file? The two possible causes or human error (we can figure out if you are doing something to cause this) or machine error (your hard drive is corrupt with cross directories, this means you need to either erase your drive and restore from backup or try to boot from your hidden OS X.7 Restore partition and try running Disk Utilities.) Let us hope that this is just something you are doing inadvertently.

  • Duplicates / thumbnails / duplicate thumbnails

after some hard drive organizing, backing up and reimporting iphoto library, i discovered that several of the photos were duplicates. i must have done something half sleep, (- not clever!). anyway i went through the whole of the library in finder, deleting duplicates. (tough job, 5200 pics). but now the thumbs for the deleted pics remain in the iphoto interface, and i dont know which refer to the files i kept and which to the deleted ones…! i want to delete the thumbs that dont correspond to my current library, does anybody have a clue? i read something about a rebuild command, would this be it? anyway i cant find it. please tell me where it is, since my version of iphoto is not english. thanks alot.
    iphoto 5.0.4

    Hi iColor,
Two Apple kbs for you to read first:
Don't tamper with files in the iPhoto library folder
    About the iPhoto Library folder
If you have your backup iPhoto Library folder still, I would start all over.
-Export any photos from the new library that are not in the old library to a folder on the desktop
-Delete the iPhoto Library folder in the Pictures folder
-Drag the iPhoto Library folder from your backup into the Pictures folder
    -Launch iPhoto
-when iPhoto opens the library it should be the same as you left it.
-Import the new photos (folder on the desktop) that you exported from the old library

  • Why do songs keep duplicating in my Library. One song has duplicated five times. If  I delete the unwanted duplicates will it delete the song entirely from my library? How do I get the four unwanted duplicates out of my library?

Why do songs keep duplicating in my library. One song has duplicated five times. I have many that have duplicated up to 3 times. How do I get the duplicates  out of the library without removing the song completely?

As above, Apple's official advice on duplicates is here... HT2905: How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls such as lost ratings and playlist membership.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created.  If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background, this post for detailed instructions, and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed.)
The most recent version of the script can tidy dead links as long as there is at least one live duplicate to merge stats and playlist membership to and should cope sensibly when the same file has been added via multiple paths.

  • IPhoto 6.0- Trying to Delete unwanted duplicate photos:::: Help???

Recently, I downloaded all my photos from my desktop to an external hard drive in an effort to bring them to my MacBook. The problem is that I had about 5,000 pictures and when I downloaded them and know on the MacBook I have 20,000. Some how, many of the photos were duplicated and even triplicated (if that's a word- Ha Ha). In any event, I'm wondering if there is a way to have iPhoto sort out all the duplicates so I can delete them.... I have searched help to no avail and can't find any easy solution. Not even sure if it's possible, but it would beat the alternative of going through and deleting one by one. One last thing....the duplicates are not even next to the original. They are sorted all over the place. They also have the same photo #. Can anyone help?

Just throw what you have done away and start over
Connect your external HD to your old computer and drag the iPhoto library form the picture folder (default location) to the EHD, connect the EHD to your new computer and drag the iPhoto library on the new machine to the desktop and drag the old iPhoto library from the EHD intact as a single entity to the pictures folder of the new Mac and launching iPhoto on the new machine - there is no importing involved
Once you have tested and are happy with the iPhoto library on the new computer trash the iPhoto library you drug to the desktop

  • "edit in external editor" results in unwanted duplicates - help!

I've been using iPhoto for years. I've also frequently edited my iPhoto photos in Adobe Photoshop Elements and simply saved the edited photos. No duplicates. The original version could still be returned to (just as if I'd edited in iPhoto).
Ever since I upgraded to the latest version of Adobe Photoshop Elements, v. 10, every time I go to the external editor, iPhoto (or Photoshop?) creates a DUPLICATE photo when I save the edited file.
    Any wisdom?
I'll also check with Adobe, but I know I'll get quicker - and better - advice here in Apple Discussions.
    Thanks.

Just in case this was the issue, while wating for a reply from you & others, I did exactly that...hoping they listen to feedback on this issue and act on it soon.
(I'm one of those disenchanted Apple customers who is skeptical that anyone's listening...witness the death of Mobileme and my beloved Gallery and the endless, long discussions on this subject on this website.)
Thanks for the reply, Terence. I suppose it's always good to know the problem isn't me, it's Them.
