Unwanted E-mail

Hello,
I am receiveing about 6 or more e-mails a day from people promoting penny stocks. I reply to these e-mails to ask to be taken off their mailing list and the e-mails come back as un deliverable. I have flagged these as junk and they go in that file, however, these nuts are sending these from new fake e-mail addresses every day. So, every day I have to mark at least 3 more as junk.
Can any thing be done about this?
M Haver

I reply to these e-mails to ask to be taken off their mailing list
and the e-mails come back as un deliverable.
This is a common mistake made by those unfamiliar with how spammers operate but you should not reply to spam messages (especially since the email address or reply to address provided is not valid) and never, under any circumstances select a link included with a spam message such as "click here to be removed from our mailing list".
By selecting any links included with a spam message reveals to the spammer that your email address is valid or "known good" causing even more spam to be received. Spammers trade/sell known good email addresses to other spammers creating a cycle of ever increasing spam messages received.
The same for automatically rendering all HTML received. When a spammer's message is formatted in HTML and includes any embedded images or objects that must be rendered from a remote server to be viewed and these are rendered, you are revealing to the spammer that your email address is valid or "known good".
If you automatically render all HTML and a spam message is correctly marked as Junk when received, then no included embedded images or objects will be rendered as a security feature but if such a message is not marked as Junk when received, then is it very likely you have revealed to the spammer that your email address is valid.
Go to Mail > Preferences > Viewing and deselect "Display remote images in HTML messages".
When deselected and a valid message received includes embedded images or objects that must be rendered from a remote server to be viewed, there is a Load Images button provided on a blue border just above the message header. This will protect you in case a spam message is received that is not marked as Junk and includes embedded images or objects that must be rendered from a remote server.

Does your ISP or email account provider include an email address to forward spam received with long message headers shown for the received message?
My ISP includes such an email address and since the sender's computer IP address is usually provided in the long message headers for the received message, after my ISP confirms the forwarded message with long message headers shown for the received message is spam and the sender's computer IP address can be determined (which is usually the case), my ISP blocks the sender's computer IP address at the incoming mail server from being able to send messages to any email address in my ISP's domain.

Is there a way to block unwanted e-mails and spam on your mobile devices?

This is generally handled by your e-mail provider, not your e-mail reader.
For example, I use Gmail and it filters spam before it ever gets to my inbox. If something does get through, I can move it to the spam folder on my iPhone to report it as spam.

It is not available in Mail any longer (for quite a while, now).
You can add a rule to have Mail mark them as junk, or you could possibly log onto your Email provider's web site and block that address.

  • Unwanted e-mail, new user id

I've started to receive a fair amount of unwanted e-mail, even got one with C.c showing a dozen or so other .mac e-mail addresses. now I also receive e-mail with just a portion of my id correct (ie. only part of the/my e-mail address is correct) so how is it getting into my mail?
considering changing my .mac id. but will this mean i loose my aliases, homepage address etc. also?
a lot of this junk mail carries the 'spam' as an image so cannot be sifted by rules, or can it?
    thanks for your assistance

A spammer can also use the Bcc: field along with the To and Cc fields when addressing a message (most or many do now) and all email addresses placed in the Bcc field are invisible to all recipients.

  • How do I delete unwanted e-mail addresses

Did a search but couldn't find any answer.
I know how to delete addresses (cards, individuals) from the address book, but how do I delete unwanted addresses from the mail-program memory, or maybe it's the address-book memory? Whatever it is, it stores the addresses of everybody I ever communicate with whether they're physically in my address book or not.
Now my wife has a new e-mail address, her old one is no longer functional, but every time I type her name into the "to" box, it automatically fills in the old address. How do I get rid of it?

Select Previous Recipients from Mail's Windows menu. You can delete one or more from the list. This will not affect Mail's selecting from your Address Book.

  • Unwanted e mail from apple Support communities

Hi. I recently asked a question on here and found the newer very good and I find a lot of help.  Now this request might seem daft after saying that but please can you tell me how I stop the answers to other questions because I am getting up to 20 a day email answers and its just blocking my e mail box up. I have tried changing all the buttons on the page to stop e mails and clad save but they still keep coming. Please help

If you click on the most resent email and select the 'Go to the message' hyperlink. Near the top of the webpage, on the right there will be an actions box, in here there should be a stop email notifications link, click this
    Hope it helps

  • 6720c unwanted E-mail setup dialog

I'm using my 6720c roaming on foreign networks, no problem except the phone from time to time displays an E-mail Setup dialog: "Allow application to use network to send or receive data?". I already have email accounts set up on the phone, but I can't find a way to stop this dialog appearing. It is annoying and intrusive, so for example it appears even while I am navigating with Ovi Maps. It makes no difference whether I answer Yes or No, it just keeps coming back.
Anyone any idea how I can get rid of it? Help, please!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Thanks for your input, Crusch.
Your experience seems to confirm that
the E-mail setup dialog has been introduced by a recent software upgrade,
it appears whenever the phone registers on a foreign network
this behaviour is not caused by an isolated software glitch on my own phone, and it affects several phone models.
The problem now is to find a way of 'satisfying' the E-mail setup application so that it does not repeatedly reappear. The feature is undocumented as far as I can find, and Nokia Support staff can only suggest a 'reset' of the phone. I think point 3 above implies that a reset is unlikely to solve the problem.
I have held off doing a reset, and since I am now home from my travels I have no way of testing this or any other solution at the moment.
Come on Nokia, what's the answer?

  • New unwanted behavior - Mail.app causes Address Book.app to open

    Hi all,
For a long time now I've had an email rule that formats email items a special way if the email is from a person in a certain address book group. It has worked great.
Lately, (sorry, but I don't know specifically when this started -- it has been at least a few weeks) when I get an email from someone in that special group, Address Book starts up. This did not used to happen, and I don't want it to happen as it is useless and distracting.
Does anyone know what might have changed in recent updates to cause this behavior change? Alternatively, and better, does anyone have any ideas on how to make it stop without abandoning my formating rule?
Thanks in advance for any ideas.

    Hi Kirk.
Do your rules involve the use of AppleScript, or any Mail plug-ins, or something like that?

  • Unwanted Junk mail

Just one of my .mac accounts is being sent emails regarding 'hot stock' options..often 4-5 per day. Is there any way to deal with this. I'd rather not filter my emails to just people in my address book.
There doesn't seem to be a common theme to the senders either!

Check Why was I "spammed" at my .Mac Mail address?.
You can contact the administrator of the domain that sent the spam. It is likely that the actions of the spammer are a violation of the Internet service provider's (ISP) Acceptable Use Policy. You can also report any spam to .Mac system administrators by sending the message along with full source headers to [email protected] A .Mac administrator will examine the message and headers. If the message is verified to be spam, that message will be filtered at the server before it reaches your mailbox.

  • Unwanted Google Mail folders

Hi, I use Windows Mail and for some reason I now have Google Mail and associated folders appearing on iPhone telling me I have 6k unread messages. the only change I can think of is that before my mail account was all pop3/smtp and it seems to have switched to IMAP. (It's a blueyonder account). Is there anyway I can sort this so I just see my Inbox, Sent and Trash as I previously did? I think the introduction of Outlook 2010 might also be a factor but I've since deleted this off my desktop as it too contained the Gmail folders.

An email account can't change spontaneously from a POP to IMAP or from IMAP to POP with an email client without direct user interaction.
If you are using Windows Mail to access the account on your PC, how did you create the account with Windows Mail - as a POP or IMAP account?
Did you manually create the account with the iPhone's Mail app? If so, how did you create the account? If you used the Gmail account preset, the account was created as an IMAP account.

  • I-Pad unwanted e-mails

In the last two days I've noticed 2,895 unread in my inbox that aren't there.

    Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

  • How do I delete junk mail without it opening up?  I'm concerned about security,

I am a neophyte so hopefully my question will reach someone!  I need to know how to delete unwanted junk mail without it opening up on my screen when I scroll to the delete button

No need to worry. OS X isn’t Windows. It won’t run any embedded code in the email.
However, if it has embedded html images, your loading the image will validate your email to spammers. You can disable that in Mail’s preferences.
Otherwise, Close the Preview Pane and select the messages, then delete.
