Unwanted files in LR

I Was searching for a file in LR and my files all went out of order. Some went under my name and some under pics.  I had imported these files and named them according to date and place all in consecutive order and now they are messed up. What can I do.
thanks.

hi
the he files are all jumbled up, Some mixed up like 4 different files in one file when you open. I imported them according to dates and it was all neat and correct. Except for 6 pics that just disappeared  so I went looking for the pics and found them in a file, don't know how those 6 pics landed there. That's when everything got jumbled up. Fortunately all files are there, just not by date. I never moved out of LR, nor did I bring anything in without LR knowing, so I don't know how the dates got jumbled, and how 4 files with 4 different dates got placed in one file!

    Download OmniDiskSweeper from the Internet (free) and open it.  It will produce a display i a sequential format showing what you have on your MBP and the space each item is taking.  This should assist you in identifying all of your disk space 'hogs'.

  • Trying To Use Find While Filtering Out Unwanted Files Listing In Searches

    Hi!
    I'm trying to use Find to list files made or created or changed after a certain date, but I can't keep zillions of unwanted files popping up. I want to list all the files created after June 23 and it does that well -- including hundreds of "webbookmark" files too. I used "!" like Help said to supposedly block that term from appearing but then nothing shows up! I'd truly appreciate any help!

    Hey,
    if you know the name(s) of the root folder(s) you want to access (eg. by making a note on the Windows side) then you can make them appear by just doing Shift-Command-G in Finder ("Go to Folder…"), and entering the full path to the required folders.  You can then navigate all the contents as normal.

  • Getting rid of unwanted files

    Hi guys,
    Is there an application that deletes unwanted left behind files when you uninstall applications on your phone?
    Something like registry cleaner(phone version)
    Would creating a phone memory backup and then doing a soft reset on the phone help?
    Would restoring the phone memory restore the unwanted files as well?
    Thanks in advance! Hope you guys could enlighten with these concerns.

  • How do I clean up your mac and remove unwanted files?

    Can someone instruct me how to clean my mac and remove unwanted files that slow the mac down?

    this forum is about running Windows on a Mac.
    Hence, use Disk Cleanup
    CCleaner works fine for both Mac and Windows - strongly recommend it for Windows
    Uninstall background processes, less is more and you don't need most and definitely not two that are trying to monitor system and disk drives. If you need one setup a system just for weekend maintenance and emergency.
    Allow more than adequate free space.

  • What's the best way to removed unwanted files?

    I have an iMac G4 running OS X 10.4.11 with 1GB of DDR SDRAM. I'm wondering what's the best way to remove unwanted files from the RAM, if it's even possible. There are apps and other files I no longer need. If I can dump the unused files will it help the computer run a little faster? Can I eliminate the unwanted files some how by myself or do I need a program that does it? Thanks

    Applications are stored perminately on the harddrive [ Macintosh HD ]. When applications are running that is when they appear in a window, they take up RAM. You see your running applications by using activity monitor:
    Macintosh-HD -> Applications -> Utilities -> Activity Monitor
    Application when they are not running, they do not take up RAM.  You will not see any performance improvement when you delete an application from your Harddrive.  [ unless you have filled up your harddrive ]
    Best to have greater than 2gig of free space on your Harddrive.  Many posters to these forums state that you need much more free space: 5 gig to 10 gig or 10 percent of you hd size.
    Most applications do not take up much space on the Harddrive.  I copy my unused application to a folder named additional applications.

    Be careful when deleting files. A lot of people have trashed their system when deleting things. Place things in trash. Reboot & run your applications. Empty trash.
    Go after large files that you have created & know what they are.  Do not delete small files that are in a folder you do not know what the folder is for. Anything that is less than a megabyte is a small file these days.

    Monolingual is a program for removing unnecessary language resources from Mac OS X,in order to reclaim several hundred megabytes of disk space. It requires at least Mac OS X 10.3.9 (Panther) and also works on Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger). It worked for me on 10.4

  • Lost i photo whilst I was clearing unwanted files

    lost i photo whilst I was clearing unwanted files

    Or, put another way, you deleted iPhoto by mistake?
    Reinstall it.
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
    For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
    2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
    2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
    A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
    If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
    If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
    *Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928
    One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
    iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

  • How can an unwanted file/programme be un-installed

    How can an unwanted programme be "un-installed" so as to completely remove all traces from hard drive.
    John Wood

    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
    Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
    Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
    Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
    Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item.  Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
    Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
    If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, EasyFind, instead.
    Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
    There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
        1. AppZapper 2.0.1
        2. AppDelete 3.2.6
        3. Automaton 1.50
        4. Hazel
        5. AppCleaner 2.1.0
        6. CleanApp
        7. iTrash 1.8.2
        8. Amnesia
        9. Uninstaller 1.15.1

  • Unwanted file extension inserted into file format list!

    I accidentally saved a .wav file with the .ses extension.  Now I've got the .ses extension included with .wav and .bwf extensions under the Save As Type box in my Save and Save As dialog windows.  Any advice on removing it?

    I just recreated your issue.  I saved a .wav file with the .ses extension at the end.  It did indeed put the .ses extension in with the .wav and .bwf extensions next to Windows PCM Wave File.
    I got rid of this by opening the affected file, doing a Save As, deleting the .ses extension from the file name when naming the file, then saving.  I closed the file, closed Audition, reopened Audition and the .ses extension was gone from the Windows PCM Wave File list.

  • Unwanted File Download box in JSF - Problem while Saving State.

    Hi,
    I am having a situation wherin there are multiple command links dynamically generated in a dataTable.When I click on any one of the links a file download dialogue pops up to save/open a pdf doc.Irrespective of any operations on the download dialogue, if I click on anyother link (i.e this is the 2nd click on tat page)
    then the file download doesnt pop up and instead the page is refreshed.
    On the 3rd click , the file download again pops up.
    The code in the action method of the command link goes like this
    public void showPDF() {
    byte[] pdf = // gets the data from another place.
    FacesContext faces = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
              HttpServletResponse response = (HttpServletResponse) faces.getExternalContext().getResponse();
              response.setContentType("application/pdf");
              response.setContentLength(pdf.length);

              } catch (IOException e) {
                        log.debug("IOException in viewPdf: " + e.toString());
         faces.responseComplete();
    }To fix the above problem ...I have included the following 2 lines of code just before invoking the responseComplete() method :
      StateManager stateManager = (StateManager)
                                                                    faces.getApplication().getStateManager();
         stateManager.saveSerializedView(faces);This solves the above problem but causes another problem for which I need help :
    There is a value change listener in my jsp.When I change the value in a drop down list in the same page, the file download dialogue is poping up. which shuld only pop up when am clicking any one of the command links.
    I debugged thru the code and found out that after the value change listener action method is finished executing it jumps and executes the above showPDF() method.
    Seems its something to do with saving of the client state.
    It will be of great help anyone can advise on this.

  • I just go the latest version of iTunes and I got a large number of old unwanted files "in the cloud" that I cannot delete unless I load all all of them, which should take a few days. Is this a bug in the latest version? I should never upgrade right away;

    How do I delete podcasts files that now appear in the cloud when using the latest ITune version?

    Most likely you have Office 2004 which are PPC-only applications and will not work in Lion. Upgrade to Office 2011. Other alternatives are:
    Apple's iWork suite (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.)
    Open Office (Office 2007-like suite compatible with OS X.)
    NeoOffice (similar to Open Office.)
    LibreOffice (a new direction for the Open Office suite.)
