Unwanted folder in website

After much labor, I have a website created and published inside my company site. Looks great, but my pages are inside a folder instead of the root of the website. I want them here inside this main site subfolder, for instance:
http://www.mysite.com/abc/
but instead, the site is located here:
http://www.mysite.com/abc/website/
because I created the folder on my machine here: my documents/abc/website
I know this must be a simple fix, but cannot quite understand what I need to do to move the pages from the website folder on the server to the main subfolder without missing up synchronization. How do I do this?

When I chose the local root in DW, it was not selecting the subfolder for some reason. As you indicated, it was chosing c:\johnpollock\documents\cte rather than c:\johnpollock\documents\cte\website even though that is what I was selecting. When I manually type in the subfolder, \website, it works perfectly. Thanks for the extended questioning.
But I don't know why DW would not select the right folder. A small bug I suppose.
This is a known bug in DW CS3 and DW CS4.
See this Adobe Technote, which offers only a couple of workarounds as a solution
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/532/cpsid_53267.html
Adobe fixed it in CS5 and CS5.5 but have not issued a patch for earlier versions (for reasons known only to Addobe).
It's one of the reasons I felt compelled to upgrade to CS5.

  • How do I subscribe to the Unwanted folder within Thunderbird?

For some reason my emails from people who are sending via gmail are arriving on my server but are landing in my inbox folder called "unwanted". For the life of me I cannot find this folder. The people who manage my website and my email told me this information and I am not technically savvy so this is greek to me. I want to be able to change the settings on the unwanted folder and be able to receive emails from gmail users.

Unwanted is not a Thunderbird folder. Maybe it is another gmail invention.
If you log into your account at gmail do you see this folder?

  • Change folder for websites to be shared

    Hello,
I want to change the standard-folder which is used by websharing to a folder which is located in a dropbox folder.
How can I manage that? Which apache-files need to be changed?
I can not think, that this should not be possible...
    Thx for help

I tried a few things and I think it has to be inside your home folder to use the UserDir.
However, the main computer website is controlled by the httpd.conf file and you should be able to configure it to use another folder besides the /Library/WebServer/Documents folder. Note that it is owned by root:admin, so maybe won't work out with the drop box idea.
You might want to try looking at the Apache configuration manuals. With the web server running, you can access them at your IP address/manual and online at http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/
There should be information in there on how to set up another server folder somehow.
And, Happy New Year to you.

  • Unwanted folder duplicates

Something odd is happening when I use an external (via USB 2.0) drive with both my Mac Book and a friend's Windows laptop.
Occasionally an unwanted duplicate of a folder on the external drive is created - it is created in the same location in the file/folder heirarchy, and has the same name except that forward slash characters become tiny, boxed, space invaders.
    So "Folder name 16/5/07"
    becomes
    "Folder name 16507"
Also, the folder seems to behave like a mirror of the original folder. Any new files that are copied to the original folder appear in the new folder also.
How can I stop it, and how can I stop it happening again? I'm a bit wary of just deleting the new, spooky copy in case it in some way messes with the original source folder.
[I also run Win XP on the Mac Book via Parallels... don't know if that might have any bearing on the problem.]

OK, but why is a duplicate folder being created? Just to clarify: the original folder is still there, and its name unchanged. Is it a result of XP trying to deal with the illegal charcaters by creating a kind of alias?

  • How do I delete unwanted folder from my email?

I am using yahoo email and was wondering is there a way to delete unwanted folders from my email? I have tried deleting them but I get a blank box and can't proceed until I name the folder that I do not want. Any ideas will be appreciated. Thank you.

Check your account settings with Outlook for removing or deleting messages from the server when downloaded by Outlook.
The iPhone's email client includes the same settings, as do all email clients for a POP account.
I would handle this with Outlook. Delete and recreate the account with Outlook, and before checking the account for new message with Outlook, select remove or deleted messages from the server when downloaded for the account preferences with Outlook.
All messages available on the server will be downloaded again by Outlook, and removed from the server when doing so. You can mass delete all messages from Outlook.
When deleting and recreating the account with the iPhone's Mail client, none of these messages will be downloaded by the iPhone's Mail client after being removed from the server when downloaded by Outlook.
Or since you likely have webmail access for this account using a browser, you can mass delete all messages available on the server via webmail access. After deleting the messages from the server, delete and recreate the account with the iPhone's Mail client.
An IMAP account is much easier in this regard, which is designed to be accessed with multiple email clients on different computers or devices.
A POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client on one computer or device.

  • Publish to folder but website says: 'Not Found: Resource does not exist'

    Hi Everyone,
I'm new here so I apologise sincerely if a similar question has been asked and answered.
Well, I am currently trying to make a webpage for my mom on iWeb 08 and we also purchased a personal domain name. We are really new to this so I suppose its all still a bit confusing..
I figured out we needed to enter a 'CNAME' into the domain site in order for our iWeb pages to get redirected to her site. And so we put in 'web.me.com' (I think) and were told that it 'should' work. So when I went to her personal URL, it initially asked for a username and password (even though I did not set one up through iWeb). I typed in her personal username and password as this was the only plausible one I could think of... but then the page loaded and the only thing it says is "Not Found: Resource does not exist."
I'm not sure what is wrong - did I input the wrong CNAME or was I supposed to do something else as well as "Publish to a folder" --> then enter the URL for the site at bottom...?
Would really appreciate some feedback - so lost right now!!

Why are you publishing to a folder? You only need to do this if you are uploading directly to the domain webspace and you need an ftp client to do this such as Cyberduck.
CNAME is only used if you are publishing the site to a MobileMe account and you are forwarding the domain to your MMe account?
What is it that you are doing?
If using CNAME, then you need to go to your MMe account and enter the domain name under the personal section, enter personal domain. Then publish your site and then go to your domain name registrar and go to the DNS settings and set the CNAME up to forward to web.me.com.
If you are using CNAME forwarding, then from within iWeb you need to click on Publish All to MobileMe and NOT TO A FOLDER. The folder option is ONLY if you are uploading directly with ftp to your domain space.

  • 2 problems in iWeb - file name & unwanted folder at server.

I've been using RapidWeaver but now want to use iWeb for a new site for the first time and have encountered 2 problems.
    (1) I need to change the index file of the site to index.php from index.html. How can I do that? It can be done easily in RW in the Page Inspector but I can't seem to find any way in iWeb to get to the file name. I have to go to the server directly and edit it there via my account control panel.
    (2) When I upload the site files via FTP it creates a new folder in the site folder at the server... so instead of www.sitename.com being the url, it creates www.sitename.com/sitename/ which I can't find a way to stop happening, and it's an unnecessary added complication to original url.
Any help appreciated, thank you in advance.

After publishing you can change the extension.
To use PHP in your iWeb pages read this: http://www.wyodor.net/Ajax
creates a new folder in the site folder at the server
To learn about the concept of Sites in iWeb and how to avoid the iWeb Sitename in the URL, read my blogs :

  • How to Delete Unwanted Folder from Favorites Sidebar in Finder?

In the finder, by mistake I created a folder on the left side under the favorites category (you know along with Pictures, Music, Movies, Downloads, Documents, Desktop, Applications, Airdrop and All My Files)
So far I've tried highlighting the untitled folder and hitting delete, tried dragging and dropping folder to desktop, and tried dragging folder to trash. None of these worked! Does anyone know how to fix this?
Or at least has anyone else had this problem or if you're still confused I will try to clarify better, question may be little confusing.
    THANKS!

Hold the Command key down and the drag it off the sidebar. A Puff of smoke will form and when you drop it that smoke will go Poof.

  • Unwanted folder is saved with documents. Please help stop this?

Every time I save a Pages document, a folder appears with QUICKLOOK, index.xml and buildVersionHistory.plist. This is in addition to the normal saved document and its backup.
There must be a way of switching this off but Applecare has been no help so far.

There is a checkbox to 'Save all new files as packages' (or words to that effect) in the General pane of Pages Preferences. Note that these packages will look just the same to you in the Finder, but (should the need arise) though they can be uploaded to an iDisk in the Finder they cannot be uploaded using a browser unless you zip them first (since the http protocol can't handle folders). Also if you are going to email them as attachments it probably best to zip them first.

  • 'Text Enhance' - unwanted links on websites

    Hello,
So, only just recently, a lot of webpages I open up in Safari have words that link to website offering these dodgy offers - like iPhone's really cheap and stuff.
I'm concerned that this might be an indication that I have contracted a virus/malware.
Is this likely? How can I find out/ remove the problem?
    Any help is much appreciated!

See, I didn't think I could get any viruses.
But then again I'm seeing this on a wide range of websites (I know no website is immune from hacking), but like a lot of different ones, from general information ones to official government websites.
Maybe these hackers just have WAYYYY too much time on their hands!!
I'll try that site anyway, thanks muchly.

  • Catalogue creates hundreds of unwanted folder names

Twice I have attempted to create a catalogue for use and both times I have ended up with a folder list of folders I have never seen before although they do contain pictures if I open them but I don't recognise these folder names.
    Any one got any ideas?
I am using a iMac with Lion 10.8.2 and all my pictures are in a folder called pictures with sub folders underneath.

    It is version 11 of PSE. I dont have a screen shot as I deleted the catalogue files afterwards but it was similar to;
    %5W4DD43FED4R5TT6XWW3E32W
    %5X767EDDDA45992HD6287678811
    PORTRAITS
    2GGE4GGDRTSFSRF466HK7NBHHS
    etc
i.e. occasionaly a correct sub folder would be present.
I am using LR4 as well as PSE 11 could that be influencing the outcome?
    Thanks for your help BTW.

  • Unwanted hyperlinks on websites I visit

Some of the websites I visit have random links embedded in words. "Search Assist" seems to be the culprit as every link has that name on it. I've scoured for a solution however everything I've found just mentions extensions and plug-ins, however I have no extensions or plug-ins. I even uninstalled firefox and rebooted my computer and the links are still there. I've run an anti-virus scan, checked for malware. Nothing works. The links are still there.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I tried the "opt out" option. It didn't work. The hyperlinks appear on other sites.

  • Moving Catalogues to a Different Folder.

In backed up and restoring a PSE6 catalogue from an XP based PC to my Vista based laptop I chose the Restore to New Location / Maintain Existing Folder Structure option and both the catalogue files and the picture files were successfully created in my main Pictures folder. The new catalogue was recognised in PSE6 and all files and thumbnails seemed to be connected. However, in retaining the original folder structure I had inadvertently created a lot of unwanted subfolders from the old XP address and the cataloguing info was not in the default /Program Data location where my other catalogues reside. I therefore decided to first move the cataloguing files, and tried to use the Catalogue / Move command for the purpose, thinking, erroneously as it turned out, that this would move only the cataloguing files, and I could then eliminate the unwanted subfolders in my picture file structure by a subsequent drag and drop approach in PSE6.
I am not aware of having given any advice in the Catalogue / Move process as to a destination folder for the move, as it never asked, but it seems as though both cataloguing and picture files were moved by the command to the Vista default /Program Data location. I'm not sure whether I asked to make the catalogue available to all users or just myself when asked, but think it was probably the latter. The move resulted in all of the thumbnails in the catalogue becoming disconnected from the picture files, and I then carried out a Reconnect All process which has worked for all but a handful of files.
The problem is that whilst I can see the picture folders I've moved in the Folder View within PS6, and most seem connected to the catalogue thumbnails, I cannot find them, or indeed the /Program Data folder that they sirt inside, by searching outside of PS6. It is as if they don't exist, or are hidden from Windows Explorer. All of the old picture folders have also disappeared when I look at the Folders View within PS6, except for those that contained the few picture files that are now disconnected (and these are greyed out). I could try to drag and drop the new folders back to Pictures within PS6, or try to delete the catalogue and files entirely, and begin the restore process again, but I don't want to worsen or confuse the situation further until I understand what is going on.
    Help!

Are you sure you have enabled viewing 'hidden files' in the explorer ?

If I try it again I will follow your advice when moving the catalogue to the default location. (but can you be more specific regarding what comprises the restored catalogue files (ie are they all inside one PSD folder, or are there other folders that sit alongside it?).
Suppose you have a backup folder named 'MyBackup'.
When you restore it to a 'custom' location, you state or create a destination folder on any drive. Let's call it 'My Restaur'. When the restore is complete, you get a new folder 'My Restaur' in which you find a subfolder named 'My Backup' = its the catalog ; along with other subfolders in the same structure as they were in the original folders.
    The catalog folder contains :
    (PSE6 test catalog)
To get rid of the unwanted folder heirarchy transferred from XP when restoring to a New Location but retaining Old File Structure would you suggest dragging and dropping the Folders in PS Folder View or some other process?.I gather I must do this from within PS to avoid having to reconnect all the files.
Yes, moving folder trees by dragging them in folder view to 'shortcut' unwanted subfolder stages is ok. I don't like it very much because I don't know what would happen if you had a power shortage during the process... But if you have still the backup, that would be good. For a big catalog, be patient, but there would be no need to reconnect.
