Unwanted messages when I'm on internet
When I 'm on the internet at different sites I get messages from unwanted sources saying stuff like your the 45 winner or answer this question to win an ipad or watch or download. I was told it was related to having adobe flash and reader so I took them off and still got these messages so I put them back on. Anyway I still get these unwanted messages I've run Norton 360 full scan and Malaware full scan and they don't help. what else can I do?
It has nothing to do with Reader. It's a pop-up advertisement built by the people that created the website you are visiting.

Firefox allows me to get the bank home page through Quicken. But when I try to login, the error message appears saying "cookies and javascript" must be enabled. I have Java on my system, but in Firefox under "tools/options/ I don't find any way to "enable" javascript. I have enabled "cookies".
I have no problem logging in at the bank site using Internet Explorer, but to use it, I have to designate it as the "default browser" before connecting through Quicken. I'd rather keep Firefox as the default.
A bank tech representative was unable to find any commands in Firefox that would deal with this problem, although she clearly had manuals for both Internet Explorer and Firefox. So she concluded that I would have to use Explorer for this operation, since it allowed control of security level settings. She said that in Explorer, security level should be set to medium.
Is there some similar control in Firefox?Firefox uses the same "security level" setting that is set in IE.

Is '''Enable Javascript''' check-marked?

If that doesn't solve your problem, do you have that problem when running in the Firefox SafeMode? <br />

Error Message when connecting to FIOS Internet
When I go to Network Connections and try to connect to FIOS Internet, I get a box to enter User ID and Password.
Per the instruction from Verizon Tech Support, for the User ID, I enter the ESSID from my Actiontec M1424-WR, Rev C, modem
For the password, I enter the WEP KEY.
Tried this ten times and nothing ever happens except the "Error 678 message-- The remote computer did not respond. For further assistance, click More Info or search Help and Support Center for this error number."
The Verizon Tech could not solve the problem and wnated me to have Microsoft solve it. I paid Verizon for FIOS Internet service so I not about to call MS.
Any ideas??
ThxToday, I spoke with another tech lady at Verizon who solved the problem. I had the cable in WAN and should have been LAN. Also, Internet Options
had two entries in the connections box. When using the ethernet cable, the system automatically goes to FIOS broadband. No password is needed.
Thanks for responding though.

"conection failed" message when getting on the internet
When I launch my browser I get this message:
*Connection failed*
The server may not exist or it is not operational at this time.
Check the server name or IP address and try again.
In the dialog box the OK option is the only one available.
I click OK, and comes back about 6 times.
After that I can do everything normally, sometimes I get this message again if I try to download a file from the internet.
I trashed this files but it didn't help

Anybody has any ideas?
DavidThose are Open DNS' numbers...

There are many cases where Macs and Routers, or Macs and Modems, or even ISP problems, (Comcast & Earthlink are the most common I've seen), that just don't communicate DNS very well, which can lead to some of the symptoms you've mentioned, though it's intermittent nature sounds more like HW, but it's simple and easily undoable to try those numbers. -
When I close out Firefox, and return later to use the internet, I click on Firefox and it gives me a message stating that Firefox is already running and needs to be closed before restarting or reboot my system. This occurs every time Firefox is closed and attempt to re-start it,,, not only at times,,,, EVERY time.
I have tried removing Firefox from my system and re-installing to fix this issue however,,, this did not work. After re-installing, I still get the same message when attempting to restart Firefox.
I have also tried Ctrl, Alt, delete to open the task manager and find there is no task to close.
I do not have any problems when using IE, I prefer to use Firefox as it is faster and crashes less than IE.
I am very frustrated at having to reboot my system each time I want to use the internet.
How can this problem be repaired? There are various causes for this error, see [[Firefox is already running but is not responding]] for details.

I get the following message when I go to "check for updates" on iTunes (I have XP on windows). Error message: "The iTunes update server could not be contacted. Please check your internet connection or try again later".
My firewall (both anti virus firewall and windows firewall, are set up to allow itunes programme to work) - I also have set both internet explorer and chrome to allow
apple website as an exception.
However, I still get the same error message... can anyone help?

The error message that appears when trying to access internet says that windows cannot find "address" and asks to make sure it was typed in correctly. It continues to connect but is a hassle to deal with the error message each time. Any suggestions?
What is the ip address you are getting on the Vista Computer..?
Click Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> Command Prompt...A black box will appear(Command Prompt)...In the Command Prompt window type ipconfig and press 'Enter'...Look for Wireless Network Connection IP Address , Subnet Mask and Default Gateway...
IP Address should be 192.168.1.x, Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1 (assuming your router is 192.168.1.1)...
If you get the above mentioned IP Address, Subnet and Gateway Address then you should ping the Gateway, type ping 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...If it gives you request timed out then disable any firewalls, security softwares on the computer...
If you get 4 replies then type ping 4.2.2.2 and press Enter, if you get request timed out, then you need to upgrade your router's firmware...If you get 4 replies then type ping yahoo.com and press Enter...If you get replies for Yahoo then you should get the Internet after adjusting the browser settings...
Adjusting Browser Settings : Open an IE, click Tools >> Internet Options, then delete all files, cookies, history, forms...Goto "Connections", make sure Never Dial a Connection is checked, click on LAN Settings and make sure all the options are unchecked...Once you are done click on O.k...Close the IE and re-open it...
If yahoo times out then provide static DNS on your LAN Connection...
Click on the Start button >>> Settings >>> Control Panel >>>Network Connections- Right click on the icon for Wireless Network Connection and go to properties- On the 'General' tab select 'Internet Protocol TCP/IP' and click on the Properties button- Select 'Use the Following DNS Settings' Preferred DNS 4.2.2.2 Alternate DNS - 192.168.1.1>>Click on Ok button to Save and Click on "Close" on main Properties window...You should be able to go online... -

Recently when I try to play a video on Firefox I get the same message that I need to download the latest version of Adobe Flash Player. At least 5 times I have downloaded Adobe Flash Player 11 Active X and Adobe Flash Player Plugin 64 bit. Problem is that even though I have the latest version I still get the same message when I try to watch videos on Firefox. The frustrating thing is I can watch videos on Internet Explorer and Google Chrome as well as on Safari. How does that make sense?
Today, I upgraded to Firefox 10.0.2 (x86eng-us) hoping that would enable me to watch video on Firefox but it made no difference either. I would rather use Firefox as my default browser but if I can't get help so I can view video on it I will be forced to use another browser.Hi arpriltime,
Have you looked at our [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-crashes-or-flash-plugin-crashes Flash plugin troubleshooting section]? There is a lot of useful information in there that should help you get to the bottom of your issue.
Hopefully this helps! -
When I try to install itunes I get an error message that says "Cannot access internet connection \." Can someone please tell what this means?
My internet connection is working.Okay. We'll try a different utility.
(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
(5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -

I am unable to create a new email message when I connect to the internet through google
I am unable to create a 'new email message'when I connect to the bigpond.com webmail through the internet from my ipad2.
Try this. Settings>Safari>Block Pop-Ups>Off.
I have an Exchange account that behaved similarly to what you are describing. I finally realized that I had to allow pop ups in order to access my mail on the server. -
I am receiving an Error 5.7.1 message when I try to send emails, or respond to emails on Firefox; but not on Internet Explorer. It just started doing this today.
iCloud also doesn't do tunes with bitrates below 96 Kbps.

Disabling Java popoup messages when using internet browser
As of late, the new JRE 1.7 displays security popup messages asking the user to allow the usage java application when used via an internet browser.
Our customer base is using our application via intranet with a local server, those popup are becoming a annoyance as well as creating issue in our application. For example, with have a timeout to automatically log out of the application which now requires the user to validate it prior running, which against governmental requirement in our case.
Is there a Java setting that would allow to disable those messages? If not, is there a solution to register our application as safe to run through Java. As of now the solution is to run older version of JAVA (7u3) to allow proper usage.

Why do I keep getting message that not connected to Internet when trying to access amazon yet am very obviously am still connected as can access the apple site or banking sites. Have tried resetting.
I have tried everything I could to fix this, but some things require actually being on Firefox, and since I cannot get on, I cannot click on the tabs to do it. I have even totally uninstalled firefox, and that has not fixed this. I still get the same message that firefox is running and I need to close it or restart (which I have also tried dozens of times). I have removed things like Java, and that has not helped either. If I cannot even get on line in firefox, how can I fix this. I am not crazy about using internet explorer, but right now, it is my only option. I even tried to start in safe mode, and the same message box pops up!
