Unwanted name in Mail

A few weeks ago, Mail started calling me by "Friends of ECSONG"<address> instead of what I want, "John Sankey"<address>. I can't find where this unwanted name is stored or how to get rid of it. I've gone through the preferences (full name in Account in particular) and even all my Address book and can't find where this came from.
How do I get Mail to use my full name as listed in my mail account? (I've only the one, and it's standard POP)

First shh. Oddly, just today I had a friend call me about the Mail on his MacBook. It had put "Russia fund" in front of his name. He called me claiming that his Mac had been hacked. I told him that was probably not the case, but it was wierd and to contact his isp. After, 2 hours of trouble-shooting with TWC, they found it was on their end and "didn't know how it had happened".
The fix was to re-enter the settings.

  • Mail Receiver adapter - dynamic file name without mail package

    I know that we can get the dynamic attachment name using mail package... As per the FAQ Mail adapter, the Mail package use is deprecated and hence we do not want to go that route.
    I have seen the following wiki entry for setting the file attachment name...
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/XI/Adapter%20Module%20PI%207.0%20Set%20Attachment%20Name?bc=true
    Is this the only approach to dynamic attachment name using Mail adapter (and without Mail package). Or a different approach without Adapter module is possible?

    There is a different approach without using mail package or adapter module.
    Have a look at this Wiki:

  • How do I change the account name in Mail on the iPad?

    I Am setting up my new iPad mini running iOS 8.1.
    other her mail accounts I have set up show the account name as the email address but when I set up my iCloud account the account name simply says "icloud".
    It is a bit confusing because there are other iCloud's mail accounts set up that just list it by email address.
    Does anyone know know how to change the displayed account name in Mail?

    Hi Gabe Hamrick,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
    You can change the Description field of your iCloud email account so that it displays what you want.  Follow the steps in the article below to get into you Mail settings.  However, in step 3 instead of adding an account, you should already see your iCloud account showing in the Accounts section of the screen.
    Add an email account on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201320
    1.  Tap Settings.
    2.  Scroll down and tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    3.  Tap on your iCloud account.  On the next screen, tap on your (name)@icloud.com email address to the right of the word Account.  Change the Description field to whatever you want to display.  Tap Done in the upper-right corner.
    I hope this information helps ....

  • How to change my 'full name' in Mail on iPhone?

    I use a me.com address and iCloud. I successfully changed my full name in Mail on my Mac, but won't show up on mail sent from phone.

    Ah, after endless searching, this popped up in "More like this" right after I posted:
    Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar> Select the email account with the issue and go into the Account Info area. In the Name field enter your full name.
    Looks like it has to be changed locally on the phone. Thanks!

    I don't think there's a way to edit the previous recipients. Not easily, anyway.

  • Changing Last Name on Mail accounts

    Recently remarried, and trying to change last name on Mail accounts.  I have changed them in Contacts, however seem to have problems in sending mail.
    Anyone have an idea of where I need to make all the changes?

    Mail apparently can do this, but doesn’t provide support for it in the user interface:
    Add unique names to .Mac email aliases
    Add unique names to .Mac aliases via AppleScript
    I believe the AppleScript in the second article is for .Mac accounts only. The first article was initially also meant for .Mac accounts only, but I believe that a similar procedure can be used with other account types as well — read the comments for additional info on this.
    What I’d probably do is leave the Full Name field blank and the email address alone, though...

  • Cannot enter my full name in mail preferences for iCloud

    Hey folks,
    Whenever I send an email from my mail app on my MacBook Pro, the person who gets it sees my full email address as opposed to my name. This leads to it being put in spam at times. When I go into Mail preferences to change this, the section that says full name is greyed out and I cannot put my name in. Any ideas? Would appreciate your help!

    Have you seen this post in the "More Like This" section?
          cannot enter my full name in mail account preferences
    Perhaps that fixes it for you too.

  • Did osx change the outgoing name in mail and how do i change it back?

    i cant figure out how change the name in mail that is displayed in the " to: and from:"
    this is particutularly frustrationg because i entered the name i go by (sam) when i set up the imac and never used my legal name for email ect.  at some point os x (i assume) changed it to my legal name which it probably obitaned from a creditcard payment.
    i havent used my legal first name in a long time so as you can imagen this been a problem.
    i never put that name in mail and now i cant change it,
    please help!!!

    What name are you using with your ISP? And what name are you using for your ISP's email? That is usually what is displayed in Mail. Take a look at your Mail preferences > Accounts:
    Both my full name and email address are displayed as I had set up my account with my ISP (Centurylink).

  • How do I get name in Mail to be the same as Address book?

    Just wondering if there was a way for the name that shows up when I get an e-mail to be the same as the name I have on that person's contact card in Address book?
    For example say I have a Contact card for someone named Alexander, but in Address book I just have them listed as Alex. But every time I get an e-mail from them it comes in as Alexander (which I assume happens cause that's how they have filled in their information on their e-mail account) But I just want the e-mail to show up as coming from Alex. Does anyone know if you can do this?
    Thanks

    That's what I thought.... Although when I log on to Mobile Me through the internet the sender's name there appears just like it does in my address book, so I thought there would be a way to set it in mail.

  • Dynamic file name as mail attachment in receiver Mail Adapter?

    Hi,
    Can any one tell the possibility of attaching file as a mail attachment without using mail Package with dynamic filename.
    Business requirement is to send error response as mail attachment with dynamic name.
    Ex: Error_Response_20110802_13.24 where 20110802 is Date and next part represents time stamp.
    File attachment name should change dynamically in Mail receiver Adapter. Thanks
    Regards,
    Sreeramulu Konjeti.

    there is no standard way.
    you will have to write a module to get this in place.

  • Setting dynamic attachment name in mail adapter

    Hi experts,
    I have a mail adapter that send e-mails from ECC to several address.
    I have configured dynamically the FROM and TO field using the code showed below in message mapping:
    public String SetMailParameters(String Mail_address_to, Container container){
       //write your code here
      String valueFrom = "my_address";
    DynamicConfiguration conf = (DynamicConfiguration) container.getTransformationParameters().get(StreamTransformationConstants.DYNAMIC_CONFIGURATION);
    DynamicConfigurationKey key1 = DynamicConfigurationKey.create( "http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/Mail",  "THeaderFROM");
    DynamicConfigurationKey key2 = DynamicConfigurationKey.create( "http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/Mail",  "THeaderTO");
    conf.put(key1, valueFrom);
    conf.put(key2, Mail_address_to);
      return  "";
    In communication channel I have checked ASMA and variable transport binding (using XHeaderName1 and 2), mail package is not checked.
    It works fine!
    My question is:
    I need to dynamically configure also the Attachment name: is it possible?
    I've tried adding the code below:
    DynamicConfigurationKey key3 = DynamicConfigurationKey.create("http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File","FileName");
    conf.put(key3,Attachment_name);
    and also
    Transform.ContentDisposition      attachment;filename=<FileName>
    in Message TransformBean in communication channel, but it doesn't work!!!
    Any idea?
    Thanks

    This is my message in message monitoring:

      <Content>ZLF;0001000079;Dealer Motors UK</Content>
      </ns1:Mail>
    In message mapping with target message mail package I've linked Content_Disposition with the constant
    "attachment; filename="MyFileName.txt"
    If I cancel this relation the mail arrives correctly.
    One other thing: when I took mail.xsd from SAP the fields Content_Disposition and Content_Description weren't in, so I added them manually in XSD.
    thanks

    <xapi:filesystem output="${F_OUTPUT}" />
    <xapi:email server="${HOST_NAME}" port="25" from="${F_MAIL_ID}" reply-to="">
    <xapi:message id="123" to="${MAIL_TO}" attachment="true" subject="${F_MAIL_SUBJECT}">${F_MAIL_BODY}</xapi:message>
    </xapi:email>

    <xapi:template type="rtf" locale="${CURR_FORMAT}" location="${TEMP_LOC}" />
    </xapi:document>

    Add output key in the document key element as below
    <xapi:document key="${F_ORDER_NUMBER}" output-type="pdf" output="FileName you want.pdf" delivery="123">
    This should do the trick. Let me know if you still have issues.
