Unwanted page breaks in table

Using FM8. I have a table of several rows starting on page x. after the first row, the next row jumps to the page x+1. It's there alone because the 3d row jumps to the page x+2. None of these rows contain enough text to cause a page break, and I'm left with huge blank portions on my pages. I can't discern how this table is different from the dozens of tables already in this document. is there a setting somewhere that allows table rows to stay together? Something is causing the individual rows to go the the next page. The paragraph designer does not show keep-with-next, or any other setting that would cause this. Thanks.

If you highlight a table row (i.e. select all the cells from left to right) then look in the menu Table > Row Format, you'll see the settings for that specific row as far as keep with next / keep with previous.
There's also a setting for the table itself that determines how many rows have to be kept together when the table breaks across pages -- look at teh Table Designer, in the "Basic" tab, bottom left corner, Orphan rows.
There can be strange row breaks in tables at times if FM gets conflicting instructions for the keep with next / previous and the Orphan rows settings.

  • HP 5550 Deskjet - Unwanted page breaks in documents

While printing a document, i get unwanted page breaks. It will print plain text ok but seems to have problems with Word 2007 documents. After several pages (the page amount varies), it will print 1/2 a page or so and then formfeed to the end page & continue the document on a new sheet of paper. It will keep placing pagebreaks in the middle of page through the rest of the document. The page breaks do not exist in the document.  Wish that I were able to explain it better, this is the best I can come up with.

  • Table Overflow - Page Break - Multiple tables in Body page in Adobe forms

    Hi,
I have to do a payslip in Adobe forms. I am using only Adobe for print forms.
Please redirect me to correct category if this is wrong category.
I am customizing standard form PYXXFO_SAP_PAYSLIP_IN01. (payslip for india through hrforms)
The standard form is entirely positional. So, if the contents of the table overflow, they are overwritten on the contents below.
So, I have to make corrections to adjust the payslip for table overflows.
    My changes:
    1. There are total 8 tables in form. I created content areas for each of them and assigned the subforms/tables to those content areas.
    2. I converted the body page from positional to flowed, and applied the related pagebreak settings.
    The problem I am facing:
When the earnings table overflows, the rest of the content is displayed on second page, in a continuous manner.
    eg.
The structure of the form is:
    Header details
earnings table   deductions table   form16 table
    Other tables
    leave details
now, if the earnings table overflows -
    page 1:
    Header details
    earnings table (page break)
    Page2:
    (continued)earnings table
    page3:
(continued)earnings table   deductions table   form16 table
    Other tables
    leave details
In this, the deduction table and form16 table is shown on 3rd page. I wish to show them on the first page as they have not overflown.
I am sure, I am missing something very small, but I am unable to understand what.
I tried all the possible combinations.
Does the main subform needs to be "positional"?
They way I expect it is:
    page 1:
    Header details
earnings table (page break)    deductions table   form16 table
    Other tables
    leave details
    Page2:
    {Header details - It would be great if I could have this}
    (continued)earnings table
    page3:
    {Header details}
    (continued)earnings table
Also, If this is successful, I would like to apply the same feature to rest 6-7 tables.

    This was a duplicate question.
Kindly remove this thread if possible.
The solution for this thread is as follows:
I was sort of hoping that there should be some standard functionality available for this, it being Adobe, but there is not.
So, I had to run a work around. Quite a lengthy one.
    What the problem was:
I needed to print around 4-5 tables adjacent to each other in single page and in verticals. What Adobe does is: it fills 1st table, then 2nd then 3rd and so on. So, if there is a page break due to large entries in the adobe, the contents breaks with rest of the tables being blank, but the content being filled sequentially.
    What I did was:
I created a grand table with the structure having all the tables embedded in it. eg.
data: begin of grand_table occrs 0,
    table_A type table_a_table_type,
    table_B type table_b_table_type,
    table_c type table_c_table_type,
    end of grand_table.
Hence, I could include all the data in a one single grand table, and put the data in sequential manner.

  • Page break if table is not going to completely fit on the current page

I am working on converting the Beenfits Enrollment forms from SQR to BIP, and I am having issues getting the page breaking to happen as desired. If benefit type is grouped with a for-each group, but no matter what way I implement breaks, it breaks every time, not just when needed. I can email a sample XML and template to someone to help explain it better if needed. I have tried in the table row properties, word paragraph break options, <xsl:attribute name="break-before">page</xsl:attribute>, etc. Any help would be great.

Finally I got the reason, to fix it we should change as following:
    in the jazn-data.xml, Replace

  • Add page break to tables in a section report

I have one sectioned report when I export to excel I can manually add page breaks so that different regions print on a seperate page. However I want to do this in webi.
In webi when i highlight the table in the section that i want to have on a seperate page the break icon is greyed out so not sure if its possible to add breaks to a report that contains only 1 section? if so how to do it?

    hi,
I think your requirement is to display each table on a separate page.
If so, then select the table in section, Go to properties tab, Check the option 'Start on new Page'.
Now each sectioned table will be displayed in each page.

  • No page break between table header and first line of the table main area

    Hi all.
I'm printing a form which contains a lot of tables. Sometimes while printing the table header line remains at the bootom of  the page and the lines of internal table are printed on the next page (also with header because i have marked 'at page break' in the header). How is it possible not to break header line of 'Table'-node and the first line of internal table?
    Regards, Nikolai.

    Hello Niki,
    try to use page protection......
create a folder and place the text that r to be displayed without break.........
and check the checkbox page protection.
I think you cannot put an entire table in a folder & turn "Page Protection" on simultaneously.
    Any ideas?

  • How can I control unwanted page breaks in exported .pdf files?

I am building a form that, for a variety of reasons, must be available offline.  Unfortunately, the .pdf export is introducing a page break on the 3rd page that leaves 80% of the page empty.  The next element after the page break is a small text field which would easily fit on the preceding page.  I have _not_ put any page breaks into this document, so the editor is following its default behavior regarding page breaks.  Is there any way to tell the editor not to break at a given spot?
Also, in terms of a more general feature request, it would be very nice if there was a more intelligent method of handling pagination.  I understand why (in a separate spot on the same form) the editor is pushing a large form element to the next page (since it won't fit on the previous one), but I would much rather have the option of splitting a large rating scale instrument so that the first half fills one page and the final half (with headings repeated) begins the second page.  All of this empty space just looks tacky, and I can't imagine anyone actually wanting the default behavior if it would leave more than a few lines of empty space at the bottom of a page.
    Best,
    David
P.S. Sorry for the jumbled username; the first 20 or so I tried were taken.

Well, I downloaded the trial of Acrobat XI to see if I could fix this, and lo and behold it allowed me to define the .pdf page breaks exactly as I desired!  The "secret" was to switch to page view from the view menu.  It also works in the online version of FormsCentral.

  • Orphan table header at bottom of page when page breaks a table across multiple pages

    Hi all,
I think similar questions have been asked before but I have not found an answer.
    Here's the scenario:
I have several dynamic tables in a dynamic form.  The layout is flowed, and everything can grow and shrink as needed.  That all works.
However, my tables have headers.  Occasionally when one of these tables is large and needs to break across multiple pages, there will be just enough room at the bottom of the previous page to show the next table header, but not enough space to show any of the related table rows.  So it ends up looking silly, with just an orphaned header at the bottom of one page, and then the table continues on the next.
I have my tables set up so that headers get repeated on subsequent pages, by setting the header row to "repeat row for each data item" on the binding tab.  I would like to keep that functionality, but I just want to find a way to avoid these "orphaned" table headers that sometimes appear.
I have tried the "keep with next" option.  However, although this does push the rendering of the header to the next page, it seems that according to livecycle the table still officially began on the previous page.  Therefore I get a duplicate header because of the "repeat row for each data item" option.
I have also tried having two header rows, one that is set to only be displayed on the initial page, and the other that is set to appear only on subsequent pages (pagination tab).  This did not work - I ended up with duplicate table headers.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks!

You shouldn't have "repeat row for each data item" selected for header rows.
You should have "include header row in initial page" and "include header row in subsequent pages" selected on the Pagination tab.
Then using a "keep with next" might work ok.

  • Unwanted page breaks in text in IndesignCC doc

Please help. I have a simple 1 column grid document where the text breaks where-ever it likes. Not even in obvious places. There are footnotes, but it jumps to the next page leaving a lot of the column empty even where there aren't footnotes. I have Balance Coulmns turned off in Text Frame Options. I'm on deadline and can't solve it!! Can anyone help?

    Hi Pieter,
Thank you. Unchecking the Keep lines together seemed to have worked in almost all place. But not all. I have tried the Recompose Stories but that didn't do anything. Reducing the space between text and footnotes has solved the issue on other pages.
    Thank you-great tip!

  • My Microsoft Word inserts a page break when I hit return

If I press delete to remove the page break, it brings the sentence back into the previous paragraph.  If I hit return again to make the sentence into a new paragraph, as it is supposed to be, the computer/program inserts a page break, vaulting me onto the next page and leaving the previous half-page (or a bit more) blank.
    Ideas?  I have restarted.
    Thanks.

    Hi c,
    Try the following:
Select the paragraph following the unwanted page break.
On the Format menu, click Paragraph, and then click the Line and Page Breaks tab.
Clear the Keep lines together, Keep with next, and Page break before check boxes.

  • Page break on nested table

    Hi,
I am getting blank page because of page break after nested table.
When page is full with the records then because of nested table, it added one space after that.
Has anyone faced this issue before?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Upload the .rtf template and XML sample so we can see your issue.
Also I recommend you to review our page-break document:

  • Page break handeling when using table type field

    Hello everyone
I've created an adobe form using tcode SFP.
A table, "T1", is containing fields where one of it is a TABLE TYPE (Let give the following name "T1-FT1").
So the structure can look like:
    T1-F1
    T1-F2
    T1-FT1-FTF1
    T1-FT1-FTF2
basically the structure is like to have documents containing several items where those items have several serial number.
I need to have page break per documents, per items and serial number where those one have specific header page different than the document itself.
I need to have a page break per T1 records with specifc header.
So for each new records of T1, I have to create a new page with it's specific header.
The table T1-FT1 is starting on the current page, but if I have to many records to stay on the page I need to create another page with it's specific header that is different than the page 1.
My problem is the page break handling.
I can have the pagination tab at the Table1 and row1 level but I don't have the pagination tab at the T1-FT1 level.
    Here is what my hierarchy:
    _MasterPage
    __Page1
    __Page2
    _MainSubForm
    __Subform1
    ___Table1
    ____Row1
    _____Subform
    ______Table2
    ________Row2
    Example of Data:
    T1-F1 ___ T1-F2 __ T1-FT1-FTF1 __ T1-FT1_FTF2
    A _______ B _____  1 ___________  1
    A _______ B _____  1 ___________  2
    B _______ C _____  1 ___________  1
    B _______ D _____  1 ___________  2
    B _______ D _____  1 ___________  3
The final page break layout should look like:
    Page1
    Header1
    A B
    ___ 1 1
    ___ 1 2
    Page2
    Header1
    B C
    ___ 1 1
    ___ 1 2
    Page 3
    Header2
    B C
    ___ 1 3
Because there is not enough room on page 2 for the last record of the table T1-FT1, a new header is used on page 3.
Actually several problems occurs. I cannot have the proper page break set to avoid empty pages as first or last page.
The pagination tab stop to be available after the Row1. So we cannot set page break at the table2 and row2.
The page break contidion doesn't work. "Well I didn't succeed to make it work".
Any idea on how to handle those page break at table2 level?
Is anyone had to create a PDF form where we have the date into several level of structure?

I have the exact same issue. Could not find a solution. In my case, there are multiple subforms printed one below the other. If an expandable subform overflows into a new page, the last line overlaps with the text of next subform. I have added blank spaces between the subforms but, that does not solve the issue.
Finally, I have managed to minimize the occurrence of the issue by doing the following. Only turn on the flag "Allow Page breaks within content" for subforms that can really spread over many pages. All other subforms, turn the flag off. This minimizes the possibility of overlapping.

  • How to put a solid bottom border for table at page break - XML Publisher

    Hi There,
In XML Publisher Invoice report template, I have table with hidden lines. It repeat for each invoice item.
However I need to close the table with a solid line at the page break, when the table is extended to multiple pages.
How can we know if its a page break. I think we can use an if condition if we know the tag for page break( for example like this <?if:@page-break="true"?> ).
    Thanks in Advance.
    Vishnu.

You can declare two variables, to hold the previous and current LOCATION values and break the page when it differs.
Or just before your end-for-each, have this code.
    <?if:position()!=1 and position()!=last() and LOCATION!=following::LOCATION[1]?><xsl:attribute name="break-before">page</xsl:attribute><?end if?>
Ensure that its placed in a form field.
This will have a page break when LOCATION changes.

  • How can I be sure a table is printed with at least 1 item before page break

I've got a form with several tables (small and large ones, depends on the selection) and I don't like to print only the header on the first page (without any items) while a page break is needed. I like to reserve lines for every table (like in smartforms) or to check a line counter of the page to trigger the page break on my own if not enough space is available
Do you have any idea how I handle this problem?
    Thank you very much
    Lagogar

To specify the minimum number of repetitions, select Min Count and type a number in the associated box. If this option is set to 0 and no data is provided for the objects in the subform at data-merge time, the subform is not placed when the form is rendered.

  • In MS Word, it is possible to prevent tables from breaking at page breaks.  So, if a table, when populated with data gets too big for the spae allotted on one page, the table will move in its entirety, to the next page. Can this be done in "Pages"?

I am trying to figure out ow to prevent tables from breaking along a row when there is a page break in "Pages".  This is done in MS Word by going under Table properties under "Rows".   I have a document with small three row tables and I want to keep the tables together and move to the next page in its entirety when there is a page break.  Help!

The table that I don't want to break between rows looks like this, except it fits the width of the page:
    quilt name
    picture of quilt
    source
    Size: XX; Difficulty Level: 3
I inserted a Inline Text box into the document, copied the table inside the text box, then pasted it through the document (which lists quilting projects).  When the table spans a page break, even when in an inline text box, the picture which is in the right hand column splits, as well as the information pertaining to the particular quilt.
Jerry - thank you for your help.  I tried to give you a "solved my problem" rating, but I am adjusting to the Mac slowly after 20+ years on a PC.
