Unwanted pausing between songs

I just updated to the new version of iTunes. Now, when I use the 'Party Shuffle' feature, rather than going straight from one song to the next, it keeps stopping after each song. This means I have to keep hitting the play button every few minutes, which is incredibly annoying.
I have noticed that tracks I have added to iTunes since upgrading to the new version do not have this problem, and play as normal.
Can someone tell me how I can go back to iTunes 6 or fix this problem with iTunes 7 as there is no way I want to load up hundreds of CDs again.

by any chance, do you have "crossfade playback" selected in your itunes Playback preferences tab?
if so, by way of experiment, try switching crossfade playback off. does Party Shuffle start behaving normally for you again?

  • Unwanted pause between chapters

Here's the problem. I am using DVD Studio Pro and there are unwanted pauses between chapters when played on SOME dvd players. The layout is such that hitting the "play movie" button activates track 1, which I have set different chapter markers in. Each chapter marker is set to endjump to the next without pause. The pause only occurs on some DVD players, not all. I don't know if the problem is in my layout/programming, settings that I am unaware of, or quality of dvd's or dvd burner (G4 powerbook superdrive). Any help would be sweet.

The problem is that your setting those end jump between chapters. No need for that - a player will play through the chapters automatically.

  • IPod Pauses Between Songs

My iPod pauses slightly between songs when I'm listening to an album - any idea how turn that off?

    Which iPod?
    Which iTunes?
WHat do you mean "it pauses"?
Do you mean it stops or the music has a break in between songs?

  • How can I eliminate the pause between songs on playback on the Nano?

I recently downloaded an album by Steve Reich that is intended to be played as one long uninterrupted song. The album is divided into tracks, however, and my iPod Nano always stops for a second or two between songs.
Is there anyway to get it to play them continuously without interruption?

This question is one that crops up a lot on these forums (it's one of the most frequently asked questions) and has been a major source of complaint for as long as the iPod has been in existence.
Currently the only way to eliminate the gap between songs is to import the cd as one track. You do this by using the “join cd tracks” option in the advanced menu of iTunes.
Make sure the tracks are in their correct order, and highlight those you wish to join.
No gaps, but the downside is that you will of course lose the ability to navigate between tracks, and the song info is also lost. The iPod will display the cd title in the song field in the “now playing” screen . You’ll also have one large file instead of a number of smaller ones.
Be aware also that playback of single large audio files can shorten battery playtime between charges.

  • First Generation iPod Mini Pauses Between Songs

    Hello, all!
I have a first generation iPod Mini. I also have several albums that were designed to flow naturally from one song into the next with little to no break in between the songs. This does not come through in the iPod mini. There seems to be a 1 second pause in between each song. I remember reading somewhere that it is possible. I just don't know where to go in order to find that setting. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. And, yes, I checked the 5 R's.

The iPod Mini doesn't support gapless playback unfortunately. Gapless playback is only available on the 5th Generation iPod and the second generation Nano. You can read more here: What is Gapless Playback?

  • How do you eliminate pauses betweens songs?

    Hello Group,
This is a question I have pondered for a while now....It seems that when I import my music to the ipod the importing process seems to add a second or two to the song. How can one eliminate that? And secondly, CD's like The Beatles - Abby Road, where one song blends into the next, how can I get that same effect from my ipod when I make a cd myself...there is always that annoying 1 or 2 second pause from cd's I burn from itunes?.
    Thanks for your help.

Your question gets asked on a daily basis, and has been answered many times. If you search for 'gapless playback' you'll see how just how many people inquire about this.
In short... the iPod does not support gapless or crossfaded playback.
If you want to eliminate the gaps, one workaround is to join the individual tracks together, and play them as one single track. You can do this by reimporting the CD into iTunes using the 'Join CD Tracks' feature.

  • Auto Pause between songs in a playlist

    Hi there
I want to use iTunes to play backing tracks to sing to and would like it to move onto the next song but not start playing it until I tell it to.
    Is this possible?
I can get it to play single songs and stop, but it doesn't move on to the next one.
If iTunes won't do it can anyone recommend a program that will?

hi chris yes of course it is, but having no auto pause option  built in to this software is in my opinion a fundamental error, if you cnsider such devices as mini disk and cd players and the freeware available for windows, which pc based i tunes and i pad based i tunes  could replace in a pro environment,  they all allow users an option to play all or play single tracks.
While this fix of dougs is only open to mac users, which i am not, i am never going to invest any time in itunes, as for me it will always be considered as bedroom software  and not be taken serious. If i wanted to run this script on an ipad, would i need to borrow a mac to install it??

  • Unwanted space between songs

Hello, I recently uploaded a cd to iTunes. The cd has many tracks all of which run together (ie side 2 of Abby Road or perhaps Dark Side of the Moon). When I play back the music on my iPod it puts in a space where the next "song" starts except that space really shouldn't be there. Is there a setting to take care of this problem?
    Thanks
    Nick

You know...I'm not sure. You might have to test it on a couple of tracks and see. I think part of it may even be directly related to how the album/CD itself is timed. I think the production of the album might leave more space between certain tracks...not sure.
By the way, if you have tracks that you always want to play together (like the little Dreamboat Annie interlude that MUST lead into Crazy on You....and Golden Slumbers-Carry That Weight-The End just aren't the same alone) you can join those tracks together. The only drawback is you have to do it when you're ripping the CDs into iTunes. Select the (consecutive) tracks before you import and go under Advanced to Join CD Tracks. (I've reimported a couple of things for this reason.) It will create one track of the selected songs.

  • Long pauses between gapless playback tracks

    Hi,
I'm using iTunes 8.2 in Leopard PPC on an iMac G4. I'm experiencing annoying pauses between songs on albums that have gapless playback enabled. The pauses typically run for about 30 seconds, during which iTunes is totally unresponsive. I'm pretty sure this is caused due to the fact that my iTunes Library is located on a network share, but the strange thing is that it never happened before. It only started with iTunes 8.1 IIRC. Non gapless tracks cross fade perfectly, by the way. No noticeable delay there.
Anyone have an idea how I could fix this besides simply disabling gapless playback? TIA!

  • Continuous play between songs without a pause between tracks

I have a lot of "mixed" cds which I have uploaded into my ipod. The cd's feature many songs mixed together into one continuous flow. Each track is marked (1-?) so you may select a specific song instead of their only being one long track. The problem is that when uploaded into my itunes (and ipod), when the cd is played, there is a pause between the tracks (like on normal cds) which obviously breaks the flow of the music. Is there any way around this?

One other option that I've begun using to separate tracks in a cd with songs that flow from one to the next (Dream Theater anyone?) yet retain the artists vision is to use Apple's Chapter Tool and use this in conjunction with a tool like Scriptbuilder's . "Podcastenhancer". (There are other utilities but this is the one I personally use.)
What this does is allow you to rip the cd with all tracks joined and then add "Chapters" to the file to indicate where each track should start. Created for use in building podcasts (like the iTunes New Music Tuesday podcast) where you want the content broken up, the combination of these tools will help you separate your songs and add album artwork at the same time. What you end up with is one long continuous song file with the ability to jump from track to track on your iPod and select the appropriate "song" in iTunes from the chapter list that appears when the file is played.

  • ITunes playback has inconsistent gap time between songs

When I burn a store bought CD into iTunes and then play the CD in iTunes, the gap time between the songs is sometimes inconsistent. There's a pause between some songs but others run into each other. What causes this? Can it be prevented? Thanks.

    Hi Laura:
    Welcome to discussions!
One workaround is to make a slideshow soundtrack by making a single long track of music from purchased or regular music:
    1) Burn your desired playlist to CD in iTunes.
    2) Make sure you have itunes Preferences set to "just open the CD and not automatically play or import the songs."
    3) Insert the burned CD and iTunes will open.
    4) Within iTunes, select the tracks that you want to join and then use Advanced: Join CD Tracks.
    5) Go to Advanced>convert selection to AAC.
    6) When done, make a new playlist named after the slideshow.
    7) Put the new combined track into the playlist.
    8) In iPhoto, select this playlist for your slideshow.
You can also Share/Export the slideshow to Full Quality DV; import the resulting Quicktime movie into iMovie and add the music there (or do the whole slideshow in iMovie). If you have Quicktime Pro, you can Share/Export the slideshow (like above), but then open the resulting Quicktime movie in QTPro, and copy/paste your music from within Quicktime.

  • How can I reduce the time between songs to zero for seemless mixing

Hi, Ive only just got my 5th generation Ipod and was wondering if its possible to reduce the time gap between songs to zero. I.E a lot of Cd's and albums I have are mixed so it doesnt seem there is a pause between each song but when I put the cd's onto my ipod there is still a pause.
For example I have a 2 many djs album which is heavily mixed with a new song every 30 seconds so it is a bit of a nuisance if there is a pause every 30 seconds.

  • Pauses between tracks? (Brutal 1 or 2 second interruption between tracks)

I would like to know if there is a way to program the iPod so that when I’m listening to an album that is supposed to be heard in continuous playback (no pauses between tracks, like in operas, some new age albums and classical music) I can hear it without the brutal one or two second interruption the internal software inserts between tracks.
Here’s what I have tried. I went to iTunes preferences, in PLAYBACK, and set the CROSSFADE PLAYBACK indicator to ZERO (0) seconds. Then, I updated the iPod. There remains a very noticeable skip between tracks that isn’t there on the original CDs. It is a little better, but still too noticeable.
What I mean is this. When I listen to my CD on my computer or sound system, there is absolutely no gap or skip between tracks…the music just flows on (example : Alexander by Vangelis, or a Wagner opera). The music is continuous. No skip between tracks.
Should I conclude there is no way to import this type of recording on the iPod (and iTunes) without adding a skip (even if only a short one) between tracks?
I have a 40 Gigabytes iPod, version 3.1 of the iPod software.
    Thanks

  • Eliminating pauses between LIVE tracks?

Hi. I listen to some music on my iPod (4G) and iPod Nano, that is either live, or music that is continuous from track to track, with no break (such as some of the later Beatles albums). Unfortunately, you get a fraction-of-a-second pause between all tracks. It's not noticeable when listening to most music, but it IS noticeable when listening to live tracks. Is there anyway to make the tracks flow smoothly together, and eliminate this pause? Thanks.

  • Unexpected Pauses between tracks & a disappearing Nano

I've had my Product Red nano for nearly a month now & its great, but every so often at the end of a track, the Nano will pause for about 5 seconds before starting to play the next track. Anyone else experience this? I need to know soon, If its defective so I can exchange it out for a different one.
I've also noticed that with the iTunes7 the Nano will sync up, and right afterwards 50% of the time will dissapear from iTunes. My 2G iPod & U2 iPod never have done that in iTunes 7. I called Apple support and they told me that it normal for the iPod to unmount after updating & remove itself from the Left Pane. I don't see how that's normal since it doesn't always disappear. The nano always disappears as soon as I connect any other iPod to the computer. But if one of the other iPods are connected & I plug in the Nano, I see them both until the Nano is updated then it disappears.
It really frustrating cause I will play several tracks & have to manually remove & reconnect the Nano to sync. Anyone have any ideas?
