Unwanted Photo Archive

I'm a dyslexic technophobe so simple answers will be greatly appreciated!
I have downloaded Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0 and have found that it is storing absolutely every image that is shown on the computer - including all images from every website visited with page bars, wavy lines and uncle tom cobley and all!!
First question: How do I stop Adobe from storing these images?
Second question: How do I get rid of these images which date back to the beginning of 2006?
just imagine the number of pictures when we do our monthly TESCO shop online!!!
The images are not shown when I open the photoshop to view my own pictures but are included with every email attachment that I receive and view.
I hope someone out there will have a simple answer for me.
Thanks
Martin

Hi Jim,
Thanks for your reply. When I sent the original email, I had a JPG file that I sent as an attachment so the customer could view it.
This is what the Customer sent to me after I emailed her several times trying to figure it out:
**I don't know what to tell you about this. I am sorry it happened but I don't want to play with it anymore. The only way for me to bring it back up would be to get you to send it to me again. I deleted it and I don't want to see those pictures again. I have no clue what happened. The only thing I can tell you is to send the proof to your mom or someone and have her click on it, then on mine it says, do you want to open it or save it, click open, then in the right hand corner pops up the puzzle picture, underneath the picture are options, zoom etc. then one that says shows a picture of a printer, when I click on the printer this is when all the pictures the pictures come up including the one I sent you of the mountains and some other ones that must be yours but are normal pictures, I can't remember, I clicked off so fast. I can also see the picture of the puzzle, it then wants me click on the ones I want to print. maybe a family member can help you out.**
When I tried to recreate it, I realized that whatever I click on (emails with photos, websites with photos, anything that has graphics) is then included with whatever attachment email that I open on my computer. I wasn't able to see the pictures that she was referring to, but I understood what she was talking about. In the slideshow area of Adobe, the original attachment is there as well as whatever other pictures were just viewed prior to opening the attachment file. (Sometimes these are not even complete pictures, but just partial headers from emails) Also when you click PRINT you have the option to print several different pictures depending on what has been opened just prior to that.
If this is a virus, than I will call a computer tech and see if they can figure it out. I just didn't know it this was something that the Adobe program was doing or what was causing it. Whatever it is I need to get it resolved before I send anymore attachment emails!
Thanks again for your help!
Kim

  • How do i view photos in macbook pro, and while viewing how can i delete the unwanted photos with delete button?

1 My questions are about viewing and managing photos from a folder.
    a. How do i view photos in macbook pro - i know the space bar thingy but does not help my purpose?
    b. While viewing how can i delete the unwanted photos with delete button?
    c. How can i increase the size of the photos that i am seeing in the form of icons?

double clicking in iPhoto will open the photo.
The left and right arrow key will move between photos, as well as swiping on a trackpad or Apple mouse.
See >System Preference>Trackpad or mouse  for options and tut
While selected or in the smaller icon view hitting the Delete key will delete the pic.
Command Z will undo the last action taken.
Periodically you have to empty the iPhoto trash.  iPhoto drop down menu>empty trash
Same applies for viewing pics in a Folder NOT in iphoto,  Use the up and down arrows does not work in Preview, but as you know in QuickLook (spacebar) the up and down arrows will navigate.

  • I deleted unwanted photos from my iPhoto library, emptied iPhoto trash & Finder trash... this did not free up disk space. please help!

I deleted unwanted photos from my iPhoto library, emptied iPhoto trash & Finder trash... this did not free up disk space. please help!
    I have a 15-inch MacBook Pro (Late 2011) with OS X Mavericks 10.9.5
Last week, my 500 GB Harddrive had 120 GB free space. I was feeling crumby and decided to make productive use of taking a day off to lounge around. I snuggled up with my laptop and dedicated hours to meticulously combing through my iPhoto Library. I had 13,000 pictures, and I got rid of those I didn't want. Having said "sayōnara" to about 6,500 pictures, I then emptied the iPhoto trash and the Finder trash. I took delight in the iconic paper crumpling sound of them vanishing into the digital void.
Everything seemed perfect: the photos I loved were still there, the photos I loathed were gone, both trashes were beautifully empty. Having thrown away all of those awful, boring, and unflattering images of poorly light lunches and selfies gone wrong, my iPhoto library was half the size as before! I felt renewed, a little lighter, somehow more free, and I expected my hard drive to be a bit different to.
I eagerly checked my storage stats. My heart sank to see that my 120 GB of free space, was still only 120 GB of free space. I restarted my MacBook; this did not help. I restarted it the next day; this also did not help. It's been 5 days and the hard drive still has 120 GB free space. This is not an emergency and it will probably be a good while before I clutter my laptop to the brim. Yet while I am glad I don't have to see cringeworthy pictures of my ex's unmentionables every time I'm showing off things I do want to remember, I'm still disappointed and now obsessed with solving this mystery.
What is going on? I don't see them, so where are they hiding? How do I get the free space I should have earned from throwing away 1,000's of photos?!

    Thank you, Terence!
Yes, I only emptied the trash when it was really full, once I waited until the trash cans contained 2,600 photos and then I emptied them - Oooops! In the future, I'll keep in mind your suggestion of deleting less than 100 photos at a time.
I downloaded the iPhoto Library Manager and used it to rebuild my iPhoto. After a few hours of rebuilding, it generated a new copy of my iPhoto Library. This versions was nearly identical to the original (it was missing 5 photos and was therefore only 5 mb smaller). I guess my Library wasn't defective.
I checked my storage stats, and interestingly, using iPhoto Library Manager did help with the problem that developed after I re-indexed my hard drive. My hard drive is able to properly recognize data categories again, instead of listing almost everything as "Other". Understandably, my free disk space changed from 120 GB to about 60 GB, because my hard drive now contained a second copy of my iPhoto Library as well as iPhoto Library Manager. It seemed like all I needed to do was throw these away, but when I emptied the trash, my problem was not solved. My Hard drive now looked like this:
It appears to me that when I empty the trash, the things I throw away are just hanging around as backups instead of leaving! I went into System Preferences and turned of my time machine OFF. Now my hard drive looks likes this:
The back ups of the iPhoto files, and the program which I deleted, are still on my hard drive some where but now they are listed as "Other" instead of "Backups". Do you know where they might be and how I can delete them for good?

You cannot backup photos to iCloud.
You can enable Photo Stream (in Settings > iCloud) but only for 30 days and only a max of 1000 photos.
Then what does this mean? It was copied from the kb article that I posted above.
Reducing the size of your Camera Roll backup
If you take lots of photos and videos with your iOS device, you may notice your Camera Roll takes up most of your iCloud Storage backup. To check the size of the Camera Roll backup on your device:
On your Home Screen, tap Settings.
    Tap iCloud.
    Tap Storage & Backup.
    Tap Manage Storage.
In the Backups section, tap your device.
In the Backup Options section, the backup size is displayed under Camera Roll.
To reduce the size of your Camera Roll backup, save your photos and videos locally to your computer with iTunes, and then manually back up your iOS device. If you want to keep your photos and videos on your iOS device, you can turn off Camera Roll in Backup (see the "Deleting backups and turning off Backup for your Device" section above) orpurchase additional storage.

  • Difficulty deleting unwanted photos

I am going through my iPhoto library attempting to delete unwanted photos. Previously, I was able to scroll through the photos in an Event, press the delete key and then empty the Trash to permanently delete the photos. Recently, these "deleted" photos have remained in the various Events from which they were supposedly deleted. Can anyone help?

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • "Life" photo archive on Google

    Story link - http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2008/11/life-photo-archive-available-on-google.html
    Archive link - http://images.google.com/hosted/life
Might be interesting to see below some links to particularly fine Life photos found in the new Google archive?
(drawn to attention by dave milbut)

    I don't understand the comment
    (but I'll try to : )
IMO Life is adding photos from the [known] public domain, to their "collection"
(like the ones taken by NASA or for the FSA, with US tax-payers' money)
and Time-Warner wants to profit from selling prints
while making a mockery of the ©
in their own words, they make copyright "Infringement A Low Priority"
    PDN says:
"While Time Inc. retains the copyright to the images, it is taking a relaxed attitude toward photo sharing."

  • Is there any way to delete an unwanted photo album off of my iphone 4s?

Is there any way to delete an unwanted photo album off of my iphone 4s?  My camera roll is how I like it, but I have 2 unwanted album subfolders with 5 photos in each that I'm trying to delete.  There is no trash can.

How can I do that while keeping my original camera roll intact?   When I try to go the sync route, the phone tries to sync with every photo or video stored on my windows based pc.    I can't find a way to isolate those 2 subfolders and delete them.  If they would only have a trash can option like the camera roll has, it would be no problem.

  • The old version of iPhoto would not import my photos from my iPhone and now there are over 11,000 of them, how do I erase these unwanted photos?

I had the older version of iPhoto and it was allowing me to start the import from my iPhone but would unexpetcadly quit leaving all of the photos uniported and added duplicates of each one every time I opened iPhoto so that now there are over 11,000 of them. I have the newest version now and I was hoping there would be a way to erase them but I still cannot figure it out. Does anyone know how to erase the 11,000+ unwanted photos from the program?
    Thank you
    Heather

So, are you gettting a message at start up? If so try:
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a Folder called 'Import' or 'Importing'.
Drag it to the Desktop. *Make no other changes*.
    Start iPhoto. Does that help?
If it does then look inside that folder on your desktop. Does it contain anything you want? If not you can trash the folder.
