Unwanted popups when opening new tabs

My current problems isn't just with Firefox. I also have IE and the same thing happens with it. Everytime an new tab is opened I get a popup. At first the new window had Firefox trying to find www.hpdtsr.com. Then it would show the "Server not found". As I was trying to find a solution to this problem it changed to another website. I have Adwareblocker Plus. I have added Malwarebytes anti-malware and did a fix firefox. It didn't help. It also happens with Firefox in Safe Mode. As I stated above, it also happens with Internet Explorer. I prefer Firefox, so I came to this site for an answer to my problem. Please help.

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
All these programs have free versions.

  • "jqsnotify.exe- Application Error" popup when open new tab or windows

    "jqsnotify.exe- Application Error" popup that states "...instruction at 0x00152058 referenced memory at 0x025f0014... memory could not be 'read'. Click on OK to terminate the program" whenever a new window or tab is opened. What does this mean? I get exactly the same popup message "...0x00152058...0x025f0014..." when using google chrome, except the "Application Error" is from Chrome.exe. Not sure if this is related but ever since these popups, firefox often hangs/freezes, when I open taskmng, it states that the program is "not responding", I have to force to end it, Again exactly the same problem when I use Chrome.

  • How to stop newtab-page flickering/refreshing when opening new tabs by ctrl-clicking thumbnails?

    Often when opening new tabs from thumbnails in newtab-page (about:newtab) the whole newtab-page refreshes itself or otherwise flickers. This sometimes causes that some new tabs are not opened when ctrl-clicking multiple thumbnails in a row. Does the newtab-page recalculate after every click what thumbnails it should show and this could cause the flickering effect? (Although I don't see changes in thumbnail order.)

    Hi FFanatic,
    Please update to version 32 to see if this is still happening. Go to About Firefox and click the update button.

  • When opening new tab, how to make me able to type in the adress bar directly without clicking on it? -- (about:config reset and add-on doesn't work)

    Hi all,
    Need a help relating New Tab on Mozilla.
    I want to be able to directly type in the address bar everytime I open a new tab in Mozilla, without clicking anything. To be clearer, it means that everytime I open the new tab, the blinking cursor is already on the address bar.
    What's happening right now is everytime I open new tab, the cursor is not placed anywhere--not on the search bar on the page, not on the address bar. I should put the cursor somewhere to do something.
    I tried using the about:config reset (1) and installing custom new tab (2), but both do not work.
    When I tried the about:config reset the Reset button is not highlighted (I assume it means it's default already), and the Custom New Tab doesn't yield in different result.
    What confuse me is 2 days ago my Mozilla works just fine. Everytime I opened a new tab, the blinking cursor was on the address bar and I was able to type directly.
    Thank you and appreciate the help!!
    Note:
    (1) about:config reset:
    - Type about:config into the address bar and press Enter.
    - To bypass the warning, press the big button labeled "I'll be careful, I promise!".
    - In the search box, paste browser.newtab.url
    - In the search results, right-click browser.newtab.url and choose Reset.
    (2) Custom Add On reset:
    - Install Custom New Tab. = https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/custom-new-tab/
    - Open the Add-ons Manager (Ctrl+Shift+A; Mac: Command+Shift+A), then the Extensions category.
    - Next to Custom New Tab, click the Options button.
    - Set whatever page you want to open in each new tab (about:newtab is the default; about:home is the default home page), and make sure "Place focus in URL bar" is not checked.

    ok, as a follow up i'd recommend disabling half of the addons & restarting the browser - if the problem continues disable the other half & continue until you've narrowed it down to the culprit...
    </blockquote>
    Hi Philipp,
    I read the link you copied on the first post and also tried your recommendation above. None seem to work. Even if I disable all add-ons, the problem still persists.
    One other info, this problem seem to appear after I installed several program yesterday. These programs apparently installed other programs that set my homepage and main search engine to a particular website. But I installed all of these programs already. Would that be a cause of the problem?
    Thanks.

  • Youtube window minimizes when opening new tab

    Hi,
    So.. I have a problem
    I'm using Macbook Pro Retina 15 (early 2013) with Yosemite and Safari. When I'm watching Youtube videos, and YT is the only tab open i can maximize the window so it's really big (not full screen), but when I open new tab, and get back to the YT, window gets smaller (cant change it via YT navigation). Closing every other tab except YT helps, and everything goes back to normal, big window again. Any thoughts ?
    Thanks

  • Unwanted yahoo search when open new tab, can't remove it.

    I have picked up yahoo search and it won't remove. doesn't appear in add ons or toolbars or programs on computer or in registry. I deleted and reloaded firefox and its still there.
    yahoo is not in my search engines.

    So, if I understand correctly, when you open a new tab, instead of being blank, it's the yahoo search page?
    If that is the case, try this set of instructions and see if it fixes the problem:

  • How can I remove annoying click sound when opening new tab?

    I've already goggled this and it said something about no-script (which I'm not running) and nothing else that sounded remotely close to my issue. Basically anytime I open a new tab (which I do tons of) I get the most obnoxious loud click type sound and it drives me up the walls. I can simply mute the whole browser but then many media players and the like play the audio directly through the browser instead of adobe flash or the like. I just learned it also plays the most annoying sound in the world when I use the spellcheck feature...
    Any help on removing this terrible sound file from Firefox would be greatly appreciated... I would hate to have to start using chrome just to get away from this sound.
    The only add-ons I use are Adblock Plus 2.6.3, Advanced SystemCare Surfing Protection 1.0 (I assume it installed itself with the actual ASC program), and Leechblock 0.6.6.
    All my plugins are off by default unless I manually turn them on the add-on manager window when I start up firefox and the sound plays before I ever activate them.

    Did this start when you installed Firefox 30, in other words, Firefox 29 and earlier was fine?
    In case one of your extensions is involved, could you test the page in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
    You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run
    After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset).
    Any difference?

    Does not relate to your question, but...
    You have multiple old Java Console extensions that Java did not clean-up during updates. You need Java Console only if you do Java programming/development or debug Java applets on web pages. You can see them in Add-ons > Extensions, '''''but you can not remove them from there'''''. Removing them will not affect the functioning of Java on websites. You can '''''manually''''' remove them, '''''if you do not do Java development work''''' to avoid future, possible problems/conflicts:

  • When opening new tab, text placement defaults to address bar, any way to change it to the new page (like Google)?

    When I click on the plus for a new tab, which automatically takes me to google.com so fine, but the cursor is in the address bar. It looks like the cursor is in the google search field, but it isn't.
    When I click "home" the cursor defaults to the search field, which I feel is proper. Is there a way to have FF not default to the address bar for text input when opening a new tab?

    I doubt it. Google controls both their search and their browser and they integrate the features. But you can use "Ctrl+K" to place your cursor on Search Bar" within your Firefox toolbars. Pressing the TAB key is pretty much a waste of time since there are a lot of links before you get to the input area.
    There might be an extension, if it bothers others, but I can't see a valid trade-off to justify using an extension for something that seems trivial to me.

  • When opening new tab, don't select URL bar

    I changed the browser.newtab.URL entry in about:config from about:newtab to http://www.google.com/ncr. My default action for opening a new tab was "ctrl-t", followed by "alt-home" (and my homepage is http://www.google.com/ncr), so I thought less keypresses is better :)
    Now, when I open a new tab, it does load Google, however, it still highlights/selects the URL bar (I believe this to be default behiour). This hinders my workflow, as I still have to click on the google search bar :(
    When I go to my home page (click "Home" button or press "alt-home") it doesn't highlight the URL bar, but allows me to instantly type my query into the Google search bar. This gives me hope that what I want is possible.
    Could someone tell me that it is indeed possible?
    Ps. I am deliberately using firefox 22.0 and upgrading is not an option for me, even if this was the solution. Any other solution would be highly appreciated.

    Instead of using the ''browser.newtab.url'' preference, configure what opens in a new tab with the Custom New Tab add-on.

  • Screen flashes when open new tab.

    Hi there,
    It is not an error or something, but rather an interface issue.
    I'm using dark themes on Firefox, cause I work in front of the notebook for long hours and trying to maintain safe condition for my eyes.
    So, the problem is, that every time I open a new tab, the page part of the browser flashes, and it's especially uncomfortable when it happens at night.
    I've tried to change the background color of about:home and about:blank to grey color using Styles plugin for Firefox, but despite I succeed in changing the color, the flashes are still present.
    P.S.: If you need additional info please do not hesitate to write to me, thanks.
    Sorry for my English, hope you understand the problem,
    Hope to hear from you soon
    Eugene

    You mean that you get a blank white tab before the page loads? I fixed that by putting a line of code into the browser.css file of a theme, at the beginning, and that changes the background colour to some other colour.
    browser {background: blue;}
    It works in a userChrome.css file as well. The code:
    @namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* set default namespace to XUL */
    browser {background: blue !important;}
    That file has to be located in a chrome subdirectory in the Firefox profile.

  • FF 33.0 - I cannot remove avg isearch when open new tab.

    I have FF 33.0 installed and have a persistent problem with AVG isearch. I have tried all the help/forums but none have worked.
    I have removed Google (via Manage Search Engines) and then click on Restore Defaults, close FF and restart, but AVG isearch re-appears when I open a new tab.
    I do not have AVG installed (Windows 8) and isearch or AVG is not listed within Control Panel.
    I am my wits end.
    I have read that registry settings might be involved and/or also there is a "ghost" FF environment (kept when upgrading FF) that might be the source of the problem.
