Unwanted suppression of duplicate rows

Hi,
I am on 10.1.3.4
I have a business area where all of the underlying folders have no aggregation applied to any of the columns.
I have some cells that are calculated, but nothing more complex than A - B or substring(A,1,6)....
When I pull my query back I find that it suppresses duplicate values - unless I pull back enough columns to ensure that the permutation of all columns is unique.
I can get around this by doing this and then hiding the unwanted columns.
Changing all columns to aggregation = none on the function bar does not work.
Any idea why I am getting this behaviour, what fix to apply??
thanks for your thoughts,
Robert.
Many thanks for your input,
Robert.

This is general OBIEE behavior ...to give you the distinct records (suppress the duplicate values). This is because this attr may be a part of Hiereachy Key. To perform a simple test..create a RPD with no aggr rule and no hierarchy. Also, for the DB features in Physical Layer uncheck support distinct...
Not sure why you don't want BI to behave in its proper way...but for a workarnd..your first method is correct and second is wrong.

  • How to force duplicate row display automatically

In answers, we have one table that has duplicate data. The only thing different between some rows is the ROWID. When use user requests data, Answers automatically suppresses the duplicate rows. How can I force answers to display all rows and not suppress duplicate values?
For example - db table contains
    COL-A COL-B COL-C
    ABC 3 5
    DEF 2 1
    DEF 2 1
When adding COL A, B, and C to a report - Answers will display:
    ABC 3 5
    DEF 2 1
How do I get answers to display
    ABC 3 5
    DEF 2 1
    DEF 2 1
    automatically?
    Thanks!

I did as instructed - remove the check for DISTINCT_SUPPORTED from all DATABASE connections, saved the repository and recycled BI server and Presentation services. Unfortunately, there was no impact to suppression.
My DB is Oracle 10.2.0.4 on Windows 2003.
In addition, we have the following connection strings in place to allow for case-insensitive searches:
    alter session set NLS_SORT=BINARY_CI
    alter session set NLS_COMP=LINGUISTIC

  • Rerieve Duplicate Rows from a SELECT statement

Hi, I want to see all the duplicate rows from my SELECT statement. Looks like Oracle by default suppresses the duplicate rows. Here is my SQL statement.
I like to see all the 5 rows. Please help.
    select a.partid, a.pdesc
    from product a
    where a.partid in ('10-30000-4',
    '10-30000-4',
    '10-30000-4',
    '10-30000-4',
    '10-30000-5')

Looks like Oracle by default suppresses the duplicate rowsSure no, if you have duplicate rows, Oracle will show you the dup rows.
Please, paste your data and the query result.
And this is no because you'll put multiple time the same condition that Oracle will show you multiple time the same row (in case of non-duplicate).
    Nicolas.

  • Duplicate rows in Multiselect

    Hi All,
Our system have been recently upgraded to OBI 10.1.3.3.
We are facing a problem with the multiselect prompts in the application. Now some of the columns used as sources of the multiselect Dashboard prompts have duplicate rows.
Any idea how to suppress the duplicates and display only the distinct records?
    Thanks in advance

If the values that you are using in your dashboard prompt are from tables that are considered 'Dimension' tables in the Business Layer, then you will be OK.
From what I understand, the Oracle BI server always does a select distinct when querying dimension only data. It's only when you combine data from Business Model fact tables, that it removes the DISTINCT from the SQL that is generated.
    Hope this helps.

  • Advanced Table Duplicate Rows

I have an advancedTable (master-detail). In one instance the "advancedTable" object suppresses duplicate master records, but in another instance, duplicate rows are not suppressed. If I run the VO query associated with the advancedTable object, the query returns duplicate rows in both instances. Has anyone seen this before? I have also run the pages from JDev connecting to each instance and the same result is exhibited.
    Thanks,
    LC

-- application release 11.5.10.2 (both environments)
-- database version 10.2.0.3 (stage) and 11.1.0.7 (dev)
    -- OS - RHEL 5 (both evironments)
Both instances are not identical. The stage environment is RAC vs. dev which is not RAC.
    Steps to reproduce:
Create an advancedTable in an advancedTable in JDev using a viewLink to establish the master-detail relationship. Run the page either from JDev connecting to each dev and stage environment directly. In addition to running local, I have also migrated all source to both the dev and stage instance. Run the page - in the dev instance, the results table displays only a subset of the rows (duplicate rows are removed - ie instead of 12 rows which is what the query returns both from executing the select statement in SQLPlus and by SOP vo.getRowCount() only 6 rows are displayed in the master table). However, when the same page is executed using the stage environment, all applicable rows are displayed - duplicates are not removed. This happens both from running the page locally and from logging into each respective application server.
    Thanks,
    LC

  • Crystal report returning duplicate rows - Linking issue?

    Hello,
I know this is a commonly brought up issue - that duplicate rows are returned in Crystal reports for various reasons.  In a lot of instances, where it's only a single row of data per case that I'm looking for, I'll move them to their own group.  But that solution doesn't work here.
The tables and links used in the simple report I have are illustrated in the attached "Report Database Expert Links.jpg" file, and the conditions and report fields required as as follows:
    Select Expert conditions:
    {CLAIM_PERIODS.CPE_START_DATE} < Today and
    {CLAIM_PERIODS.CPE_END_DATE} > Today and
    {CLAIM_ROLES.CRO_START_DATE} < Today and
    IsNull({CLAIM_ROLES.CRO_END_DATE})
Report Design fields (in Details section):
    CLAIMS.CLA_REFNO, CLAIM_ROLES.CRT_CODE, PARTIES.PAR_PER_FORENAME, PARTIES.PAR_PER_SURNAME
So what this report is to do:
It looks for benefit claims which are live (have a CLAIM_PERIODS.CPE_START_DATE prior to today, and CLAIM_PERIODS.CPE_END_DATE after today), and for these claims gives a breakdown of all people in the household (everyone associated with that claim, where CLAIM_ROLES.START DATE is prior to today, and end date is null - to pick out those who are currently active in the household).
This works fine otherwise, but the issue is that each live claim can have either one or two rows present in CLAIM_PARTS and CLAIM_PERIODS (so could satisfy my first two conditions twice).  For claims with only a single claim part active, I get each household member listed once.  But when they have two claim parts active, I get eveyone listed twice.
Is there a way - either in how I'm linking the tables up, or how I'm arranging the report design, that I can have every household member only appear once no matter how many related rows there are in CLAIM_PARTS and CLAIM_PERIODS?
    Many thanks in advance,
    Sami
P.S. I don't seem to be allowed to attache image files to my post, but have embedded the content instead:

Thank you very much Don - this is a feature I wasn't aware of previously, and is a big step in the right direction for me.  Really useful.
In the report mentioned, this sort of works.  It works very well on individual fields - so I could just "Suppress If Duplicated" on the forename and then remove duplicates on that column when exported to Excel (or simply bring in a unique field such as the party reference number and do likewise).
However, is there a way to get Crystal to do this for me?  So to suppress the whole line based on whether or not I'm suppressing this one field?
Just applying "Suppress If Duplicated" to all fields at once seems to have slightly unpredictable behaviour - not suppressing every field in the row.  So I experimented a bit with using the "Suppress" tick to do this, then applying a formula to it.  But the closest I can get for the formula is something like:
    -     {PARTIES.PAR_PER_FORENAME} = previous({PARTIES.PAR_PER_FORENAME}) and
    {PARTIES.PAR_PER_SURNAME} = previous({PARTIES.PAR_PER_SURNAME}) and
Which will only compare the current row with previous.  Is there a way to do the same comparison but with all previous rows?

  • How to delete the duplicate rows present in the parent table & insert the latest duplicate record into the parent table linked with the child table.

I have a master table and i need to import the rows into the parent and child table.
    Master table name is Flatfile_Inventory
    Parent Table name is INVENTORY
    Child Tables name are INVENTORY_AMOUNT,INVENTORY_DETAILS,INVENTORY_VEHICLE,

I have 4 duplicate rows in the Flatfile_Inventory which i have already inserted in the Parent and child table.
Again when i run the query using stored procedure,
its tells that all the 4 rows are duplicate and will move to the Log_Inventory_Error.
I need is if i have the duplicate rows in the flatfile_Inventory when i start inserting into the parent and child table the already inserted row have the unique ID i

    Hi Rob,
Just trying to chip in little bit!
Created Table As follows same as you, only two rows with duplicatem user, datein, and timein:
    create table table1
    as
select '08:20:00' timein, date '2007-09-01' datein, '0001' locationin, 'U01' useridin, 1 status from dual union all
    select '08:10:30', date '2007-09-01', '0004', 'U01', 1 from dual union all
    select '07:20:00', date '2007-09-01', '0006', 'U01', 1 from dual union all
    select '08:14:00', date '2007-09-01', '0001', 'U02', 1 from dual union all
    select '06:10:30', date '2007-09-01', '0004', 'U02', 1 from dual union all
    select '06:10:30', date '2007-09-01', '0001', 'U02', 1 from dual
If I run your delete statement result row will be as follows:
    SQL> select * from table1;
    TIMEIN DATEIN LOCA USE STATUS
    07:20:00 01-SEP-07 0006 U01 1
    06:10:30 01-SEP-07 0004 U02 1
    06:10:30 01-SEP-07 0001 U02 1
Here problem is that its not able to delete duplicate rows having same timein and timeout.
So I changed you query as follows:
    DELETE FROM tab1
    WHERE rowid NOT IN (
         SELECT     MIN(rowid)
         FROM     tab1
         WHERE     (UseridIn, TO_DATE(TO_CHAR(DateIn,'YYYYMMDD') || TimeIn,'YYYYMMDDHH24:MI:SS')) IN
              (     SELECT     UseridIn, MIN(TO_DATE(TO_CHAR(DateIn,'YYYYMMDD') || timein,'YYYYMMDDHH24:MI:SS'))
                   FROM     tab1
                   GROUP BY UseridIn)
         GROUP BY UseridIn
If I run your delete statement with little bit of changes, the result row was as follows:
    SQL> select * from table1;
    TIMEIN DATEIN LOCA USE STATUS
    07:20:00 01-SEP-07 0006 U01 1
    06:10:30 01-SEP-07 0004 U02 1

To start with, since you do not wish to keep multiple rows with same values, why allow them to get inserted in the first place?
Wouldn't it be easier to block duplicate rows from inserting by creating a Unique constraint on Column(s) that define a row as duplicate, then rather deleting duplicate rows periodically?
For deleting duplicate rows, there are N number of techniques available. Always remember, you need to have a rigid criteria that marks row as duplicate.
[url http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/asktom/f?p=100:11:0::::P11_QUESTION_ID:15258974323143]this is one recomended by tom for large tables.

  • How to get duplicate rows in a large table

I have a table which consists of 26 columns and 2 milion records..while doing validation i suspect there are duplicate records in that table...
Is there any way to check duplicate rows in a table?

I went through link..in all the messages query is for 2 or 3 columns...but my scenario is i have 26 columns ...and i suspect there is duplicate row inserting .for which value is same for all 26 columns .how should i do .?
do i need to do group by all 26 columns and do having count(*) ...26 times?

  • Selecting duplicate rows based on a combination of columns as key

    Hi ,
    I have a table with 5 columns.
    Code ID S_DATE E_DATE Name
    1 23 01012001 null ABC
    1 09 01012001 null XYZ
    2 81 04022007 null TVU
    1 43 03092008 null XXX
Now, I need write a select query to fetch the duplicate rows from the above table having the combination of (Code, S_DATE,E_DATE) as the key.
So from the above example, I need to get Row1 and Row2 as output (but not Row3 as it has a different S_DATE)
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
    Thanks

    On XE;

  • To avoid duplicate rows in oracle 8i

Can you suggest how to prevent duplicate rows while in situations where multiple refreshes from a single export file using Oracle 8.1.7?
Do i need to specify Commit=Y, Constraints= N and IGNORE=N while importing data?
    Your suggestion would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

PK or not pk, if you set ignore=n, the import will be abort in case of table already exists, so you won't have any duplicate rows.

  • Deleting duplicate rows based on three columns in Oracle 8i

    Hi all,
The database we use is Oracle 8i.
The query below raises the too_many_rows exception when I launch an application. So I want to delete the duplicated rows :
    select polarisation_1, polarisation_2
    into v_pol1_tech, v_pol2_tech
    from v_cfh_lien_element
    where nom_lien = p_nom_lien
    AND num_canal_1 = p_num_canal_1
    AND freq_emise_1 = p_freq_emise_1;
Notice that with many possible values of the parameters p_nom_lien, p_num_canal_1 and p_freq_emise_1 then the exception is raised.
So how to delete generally the duplicated rows based on the three columns "nom_lien" , "num_canal_1" and "freq_emise_1" ?
    Thank you very much indeed.

  • Crystal report duplicate row problem

    Hi expert,
Need help about crystal report for my customer, want to make report about outgoing payment(OVPM) but it become duplicate row for detail because 1 payment include lot cheque(VPM1) more than 1,i just want to know if there got other method to avoid duplicate row.I also try put formula for detail area "{VPM1.CheckAct} = Next({VPM1.CheckAct})" or "{VPM1.CheckAct} = previous({VPM1.CheckAct})"..it useful for 1 row only,if i put more row,it will eliminate other row, just show 1 row.
Here is my query take from crystal report.
