Unwanted Updates

Hi guys.
I have a MacBook Pro , it runs 10.8.5
I recently uninstalled the app "Twitter", but there is an update available in the app store for it!
Another problem is that when I try to update it even if I had the app , it asked for the password of an unknown Apple ID!
I tried deleting the com.apple.appstore.plist file from ~/Library/Preferences/
but it didn't work.
I wanted to upgrade to OS X Yosemite , but the problem is that even if I upgrade my Mac to Yosemite , the update is still there(I tested it on another MacBook Pro , too!)
Sb told me you should delete some files from ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore ,
and sb else said that I should delete the _MASReceipt folder. But I can't find the folder in the package of the App store(Right Click->Show Package Contents)
and "Delete" it.

No , I do not have any pirated apps.
I just wanted to know how can i delete the _MASReceipt folder.Because I can't find it!
How do I remove unwanted updates from the App Store? was a good resource but it didn't work.
Any way to get rid of that update?!

How do I remove unwanted updates from the App Store? So you understand better what I'm referring to:
I have the App Store icon in the Dock. When there's an update a red number appears on said icon. Well, I went to check on the updates and it's for 4 different applications I either no longer have or use. One of them is an update for Lion OS users. I'm still on Snow Leopard, so it doesn't even apply to me.
So there they sit... I'm not going to download the updates... so how do I get rid of them?

    Hi Andy ..
    no longer have or use
If there are updates available for apps you have deleted, try this.
    Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore
Move the Cache.db and Updates files from the com.apple.appstore folder to the Trash.
Empty the Trash, restart your Mac.
For any apps you still have installed but do not use, the updates will still be available from the Updates top of the App Store window and show on the red badge on the App Store icon in the Dock.

I was trying to update some of the garage band tracks, the update was 1.2gigs, I decided I didn't want to load those on. Now, the updater flashes twice a day, new update, and its the garage band update. How can I clear this unwanted update?

start software update, select the unwanted update and go to Update menu->ignore update.

    Captfred,
Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately no hide option is available by right clicking the Motion 5.0..4. update.
Seems strange that this does not appear to have been included, unless I'm missing something.

  • How do I remove an unwanted update from the App Store?

    Ok,
So I open the App Store and there's a update awaiting me. Some App called CodeBox by one Vadim Shpakovski version 1.6 Released 7 April 2012
So I check it over, check the app out and what it's all about. The App costs £6.99 and it's designed for developers. Simply I don't want the **** thing and I never applied or activated the app for purchase.
I've looked everywhere and there's no delete update or remove update.
Can anyone enlighten me as to how to remove the unwanted update?
    Thanks All.

You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store alert. For example, if the App Store says you need to update "Twitter," the hacked app may be "Angry Birds" or something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you have to carry out a systematic search.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    kMDItemAppStoreHasReceipt=1
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
In the Finder, press command-F to open a search window, or select
    File ▹ Find
from the menu bar. In the search window, select
    Search: This Mac
from the row of tokens below the toolbar. Below that is a popup menu initially showing Kind. From that menu, select  Other...
A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select Raw Query and click OK or press return.
Now there will be a text box to the right of popup menu. Click in that box and paste (command-V).
The search window will show all the App Store products you've installed. Compare those search results with the list of your purchases from the App Store. To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
At least one of the items listed in the search window is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Test.

  • How do you remove unwanted updates???

    Hi,
I have the game Bejeweled HD on my I-Pad original running IOS 5.1.1.  There is a new update for Bejeweled HD available.  When I updated my app, the app crashes upon starting.  Therefore, I uninstalled the app and re-installed the previous version from my I-Tunes account.
However, now on the App Store icon, there is always a red "1" on the icon saying there is an update available.  And of course that update is for Bejeweled HD which I don't want because it doesn't work.
Is there any way of removing the "Unwanted" update or just hiding it?  Is there a way to remove the red "1" on the App Store icon?
    Thanks.

  • I don't like the new layout. How can I make it look like it did before this unwanted update?

I don't want to just reinstall the older version, since I'll be constantly refusing update requests and will lose any new security updates. I just want to have the layout I had before FF changed it without informing me in advance. Otherwise I will switch to a different browser. I'm a patient man, so I will give FF 24 hours to correct this unwanted annoyance before switching over to the competition.

You can make Firefox 4 look and behave more like Firefox 3.6, for details see http://www.computertechtips.net/64/make-firefox-4-look-like-ff-3-6

  • Hiding unnecessary or unwanted updates

Hi...I just upgraded to OS-X Mavericks yesterday...as soon as the system finally booted into the Mavericks start screen, I was advised of several updates for apps, one of which was iMovie...I initiated the updates and all of them went well except for iMovie.  When I click on the UPDATE link for iMovie, it starts for a few seconds then gives me an error message which says my video card does not support the new iMovie app.  That's OK with me because I don't use iMovie much at all.  However, when I click OK on the error message, it still wants me to update and keeps reminding me to update iMovie, but it can't do it because my video card does not support.  Is there a way to hide or remove unwanted or unnecessary updates in Mavericks?...I could in Mountain Lion and previous iterations of OS-X.
    Thanls,
    Larry

Just tap the app and hold until it begins jiggling. Then tap the "X" in the upper left corener to delete the app. Pres the home button when done to stop the apps from jiggling.

  • Can't Install Itunes on Windows 7 64-bit due to unwanted updater

OK, so I've known for years that Apple puts a WHOLE lot of crap on your computer when you install Itunes.  It asks you specifically if you want to automatically update Apple software, and no matter how hard you click the NO box, it puts the apple updater there anyway.
I just purchased my first piece of Apple hardware, namely an iPod touch, and due to this failure of Apple to respect my software wishes, it turns out I've wasted my money because the Apple Software Updater fails to install due to security restrictions.
I run the Itunes installer as administrator.  I have given full rights to my logged in Windows user to every folder related to Apple in the Program Data folder.  I have spent a couple of hours trying every fix that is availalble in the Apple forums and the Microsoft forums, to no avail.
Seems to me the BEST fix is for Apple to drop the arrogance of forcing me to install the Apple updater in the first place, and trust me to know when I want to download a newer version of Itunes.
This is not the first time I've seen this happen with 64-bit versions of Windows.   My guess is that I'll have to extract the Itunes app from the itunes.exe installer, and hopefully be able to install only the software I want.  But at the moment I'm kind of peeved that I have to jump through those hoops, and of course, it's entirely possible that won't work at all either.  And of course, without iTunes, the iPod touch is completely useless.

Are there any special charaters in your user name? I know that has caused issues in the past. You might need to contact Adobe support for this one.

  • Can't get rid of an unwanted update...

Since upgrading to Yosemite, I had the usual updates in the App Store for Keynote, Pages, etc.
But Apple Remote Desktop also showed up as having an upgrade even though I have the latest version.  I did not purchase ARD through the App Store, it was a boxed software with a license code.
I cannot get the badge to go away showing that ARD has an upgrade.  If I click on "Upgrade", it tells me that the software is either already installed, or was not purchased by this user ID.
How do I get rid of this annoying badge and indicator in the app store for an app that is already the latest version and doesn't need anything done to it?

    Welcome to AD!
You can't get rid of it, but you can ask iTS support to remove it from your download queue.
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/browser/
It might just be easier to let the thing download and then delete it, quite frankly.

I've no idea who Glenn is nor what you've tried so far, but what worked for

  • Unwanted updation of purchase info record

    Hi All,
We have an issue where the field "Vendor Mat. No." is getting updated automatically from somewhere ininfo record. We delete this value and keep the field as blank. But after some days the old value appears again.
In the change log I can see the entries as old value "XYZ" and new value blank for several dates. But I do see an entry as blank to "XYZ".
Can someone give me an idea what could be going wrong here?
    Regards,
    V S

It is finally clear now that the vendor material number is updated in the info record from the PO. But now the user does not want this to happen.
So I tried by maintaining default values for buyers in configuration at IMG --> Materials management --> Purchasing --> Environment dat --> Define default values for buyers
We have default values mainatined here with info record update indicator as blank for purchase order. I have maintained the same default value in user master parameters as EVO.
Now when I create the PO I still get the info record update indicator ticked. How do I get this unticked as default?
Also please let me know what could be the other problems arising if the info update indicator in not ticked in the Po in future?
    Regards,
    V S
