UOM conversion for material

Organization purchases yarns
1000Kg yarns
It is available in unit of 2 Kg each
So one yarn is of 2 Kgu2019s
Each yarn has 50000 Mtrs of thread
( 25000 mtrs / Kg )
The stock will be of 500 yarns of 2Kg each.
Issue to production 250 yarns to produce cloth of 5000 mtrs.(cloth width of 250 threads)
After consumption balance is returned back to stores
So
250 yarns are returned each of length 45000 mtrs
The weight of each yarn will be 1.8 Kg
The consumption in production in Kg 50 Kg
Balance will be 1000 u2013 50 = 950 Kg
Now the stock is
250 yarns of 2 Kg each = 500 Kg
250 Yarns of 1.8 Kg each = 450 Kg.
Issue of 400 Yarns for production of 20000 mtrs cloth (cloth width of 400 threads)
Issue 250 Yarns of 2Kg
Issue 150 yarns of 1.8 kg
Consumption will be 400 * .8 Kg = 320 Kg
Return will be
250 yarns of 1.2 Kg
150 yarns of 1 kg each
Balance will be
250 Yarns of 1.2 Kg  = 300 Kg   ( length 25000 mtrs)
150 Yarns of 1 Kg  = 150 Kg   ( length 20000 mtrs)
100 Yarns of 1.8 Kg = 180 Kg ( length 45000 mtrs)
Total 950 -320 = 630 Kg
I want to see inventory look like this so next I can select issue for the production of cloth with different length and breadth
How shall I maintain this in SAP
How to manage UOM and conversion factors ?
Can u iterate it with making issue and receipt transactions as described??

If this question is still relevant - such textile related questions are dealt within in SAP for Mill Products, this is also where we address the requirements of the cable industry.
In cable we typically deal with the requirement to check ATP not for the total quantity alone, but considering the individual lengths available.
There are multiple ways to model this.
Most flexibility is through characteristic dependent planning in APO where individual length on a batch is a characteristic.
But you can also acchieve a lot already when using batch specific units measure. Here it strongly depends how you would like to model the batch, be it for the individual cone, or for the "bundle". A good search term here is "single unit batch".

  • How to use own UOM conversion for PO creation...

    Hello Experts,
We have a requirement wherein we need to use our OWN UOM conversion(UMREN and UMREZ)
instead of getting it in the inforecord or the material master. Currently we are using BAPI
    BAPI_PO_CREATE1 to create PO.
Is there anything that I can do to make the PO creation bypass the inforecord and
the material master UOM conversion. For example in ECC we have 1 CV = 10 EA. We want it to be 1 CV = 15 EA.

    Hi Guys,
Any help? Any exits/BADIs/enhancement spots that I can use?

  • Classic scenario-UOM change for material

    Hi
We have list of materials(Gcode represented) with UOM -EA(each) which is being used by te users for their business. In case if buers wants in PO with  some other UOM say 'KG' then how the shopping cart created with EA shall be converted to the buyers required UOM .Is there any way to make the conversion in SRM. Can somebody throw some light on this .
    Thanks & Regards

    Rajan,
First of all, I would re-validate the scenario. To have a UOM of EA for something that is purchased in KG does not make sense. EA should be used for items like pencils, wrenchs, sub-assemblies, finished goods, etc.
Second, if it has to be that way, have you tested using the UOM conversions within the material master?  You could purchase in KG and inventory in EA. However, you would have to be provided with the proper conversion factor for the material. See if that works.
    Just my 2-cents.

  • Costing Data: UOM Conversion for Activities

    Hi Experts,
I would like to know what transaction (or if there's a transaction/table) to check the UOM conversion of activities in the costing data (tcode CK11N). Let say the activity HEAT, conversion from KWH <-> GJ? Thanks so much!
    Best Regards,
    Kurtt

    Hi,
The UOM conversion is maintained in the SPRO.
But for costing the unit is maintain in Activity say POWER as unit H
But in the production they maintain the receipe activity unit for POWER as unit MIN.
So when you upload the KP06 & KP26 with activity qty,the activity qty should maintain in H.
So when you have the cost run in CK11 then the system will capture automatically for the per ton production the consumption of power activity in MIN.
So if you want to know the what is conversion factor then it is standard UOM definition in SPRO.

  • UOM Conversion for Catalogs

    Hii,
We are on Global Catalog Implementation. For a global catalog, we have US users, for certain items there UOM is gallons, for the same items, the european users want in liters
can we do the UOM conversion with the OCI Interface BADI  BBP_CATALOG_TRANSFER
Is this the correct BADI.we have other option like creating again a seperate catalog for certain set of users.
    Which is Best Pratice.
    Please advise me.

    Hi
You can use the BADI <b>/CCM/CHAR_VALUATION</b> to create, change, or delete the values assigned to catalog characteristics before they are written to the database, or after they have been read from the database. You can modify both static characteristics and customer-specific characteristics.
For more details check the BADI definition help.

  • Tcode /SAPAPO/TSCUBE  - UOM conversion

    Dear All,
I would like to know about how the value of a key figure is copied from the infocube to a DP planning area using tcode /SAPAPO/TSCUBE.
    I have the following scenario.
Infocube has key figure value as 2000 EA,
The planning area UOM is ST
Product Master base UOM is EA
Product Master alternate UOM has 1 ST = 5 EA
When I execute the tcode /SAPAPO/TSCUBE  to copy data from the cube to the planning area, the value is copied as 2000 ST which means no conversion of the UOM in cube to the UOM of planning area takes place. It should ideally convert 2000 EA to 400 ST using the alternate UOM in product master.
Is this how the program functions such that it only copies the key figure value ignoring the conversion factor between UOMs of infocube and planning area?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance
    Ehsan Ahmed

    Hi
Yes it works as you are expecting. It should read the data from product master base UOM. To enable, you must have the characteristic assigned to the product in the POS and then maintain UOM conversion in the product master (you get the description as well).
There are some gotchas...you can convert at a 'higher' level, but every product must have a UOM conversion for the UOM you wish to convert to, otherwise it might not work.
    Hope this helps...
    Thanks

  • UOM conversion problem when issuing material against BOM

    Hi All
I have a material which is part of a production BOM.
    The base UOM is EA.
    The issuing UOM is KG.
    I have a UOM conversion of 20 KG = 1 EA.
In the BOM I need to issue 0.034 KG.
When backflushing happens, it issues 1 EA.
Why is it not issuing in KG?
This is a problem because in effect i have now issued 20 KG instead of 0.034 KG!
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Deidre

    Dear All
Thank you for your input. I have double checked and everything in the BOM header and component level is KG, and the plant/storage location data is also KG. The only place the EA appears is in the base uom.
I suppose the biggest mistake is that the material should have been created with base UOM of KG, but it's too late to change it now, which is why I hoped the UOM conversion would have taken care of that.
@Mario, i was actually trying to post 0.034 KG, which then got posted as 1 EA.
    Thanks

  • UOM Conversion changes where conversion is only used for reporting

I think this is a different situation than I've seen in other posts.
We have a UOM conversion from CS to POUND (i.e. 1 case = 30 pounds), and at some point may want to change it so that 1 case = 28 pounds. In our situation, all transactions are done at the CS (primary UOM) and the weight is only used in calculations to print on shipping documents. Is there any harm in just changing the 30 to 28 when that time comes? Again, there are no transactions that reference the weight, no PO's, no SO's, no financials, etc.
We also have a similar situation where a PALLET may contain 100 cases now, but in the future be reconfigured to contain 90 cases. Same idea, nothing is transacted in Pallets, and the conversion is only used in reporting. Seems like it would be OK to change that conversion without causing problems. Any thoughts?
    Thanks for your insights!
    Bill
    (Running r12.1.3 with OPM)

I think this is low risk - just make absolutely sure that the uom was not used for customer pricing, internal pricing, boms, on ASL, on price breaks, on quotes, on POs, on material transactions, wip moves etc.
As long as it was truly used just for reporting, you should be ok.

  • Change in Material UOM conversion

    Hi gurus.
    good day..
    please help.
we are using a material with uom conversion.
    example
    1 PAK = 5 PCS
we have been using this since the material was created. it has been used also for PO PR anf Contract creation.
Now user wants to change the conversion into 1 PAK = 7PCS. is this possible? what is the effect on the previously made PO and GR?
    Thank you

    Hi,
The change only affects the new PO created, as to the previous POs, there is not impact on those. But don't forget to change the purchasing price to the correct value!
By the way, which unit is the base unit in the material master data, I hope it's PCS.

  • Where to Configure the Price for the UoM Conversion

    Hi All,
I have a requirment from my client here that he wants to change the UoM of the material at the billin document level. The UoM can be changed but I realized once it is changed the price has gone all wrong. Where can I configure the price for the UoM conversion because I cannot find it anywhere in SD itself.
    Appreciate all of your inputs.
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi Prashant,
I am trying to maintain the same material with different UoM but when I do so it says that the current condition is being processed at the current session. I guessed it meant that the conditiont record for that material type already exists?
How do I rectify this problem because when I enter the new line of material with the new UoM disappears.
    Appreciate your input in this,
    Thanks a lot!

  • UoM conversion error while loading Material Master

    Hi,
Our Legacy system is also SAP (lower version) and we're trying to move the data to ECC6.0. We're using MATMAS_MASS_BAPI03 to move Material master records.
All the Alternative UoM to be moved with 'no change'. Everything gets moved except for LBs and FT3s and we get message 'UoM Conversions are inconsistent'.
I entered LBs, for example, online in the new system and found that conversion factors (NUmerator and Denominator) were indeed different.
    Legacy LB:  Numerator - 4756 and Denominator - 65113
New System LB: Numerator - 2564 and Denominator - 35103
If you have noticed, we will get the same result if you divide Numerator by Denominator.
Note: KG values were same in the both systems without any issue.
What should we do to get it right?
    Best Regards,
    Ram

    Hello,
You can use the function CF_UT_UNIT_CONVERSION to UOM conversion.
        call function 'CF_UT_UNIT_CONVERSION'
             exporting
                  matnr_imp     = itab_pot-matnr
                  unit_new_imp  = ztb_vend_min-min_uom
                  unit_old_imp  = itab_pot-meins
                  value_old_imp = w_conv_qty
             importing
                  value_new_exp = w_conv_qty.
    Thanks,
