UOM internal external reference in classification

How is  UoM  necessary for the calculation that supports your sourcing decisions as well as for your declarations to the authorities?
Can anyone help with the UOM functionality for classification - why is it necessary to maintain Internal/external reference. Does the UOM overwrite UOM in ECC? What is the purpose of this UOM?

Hi Padma,
In each country, the Customs Tariff was primarily developed as a scale of charges for moving raw materials and traded goods across the borders.  However, and especially since the introduction of the Harmonised Tariff system (HS) in 1988, it has become a very convenient way of classifying and codifying goods in a language-independent way.
For that reason, other uses have been found for the Tariff; notably the production of Trade Statistics.  Every country is able to - and indeed does - collect and publish statistics on the movement of goods to and from other regions and countries, based primarily on the Import and Export declarations made and the Tariff (or "Commodity") codes assigned therein.  The importance of these Trade Statistics is one of the main reasons why Commodity Codes are required when making Export Declarations, even though no duties are liable on those movements.
The duty payable on Import is most usually based on the value of the goods.  But the value can (and does) vary greatly with time, so value is not necessarily a particularly good measure for statistical comparison.  Instead, the quantity of goods moved is a far better comparator for that purpose, and when you hear that "imports from China rose 23% last year", that figure is almost certainly based on quantity, not value.  For that reason, every Tariff Code is assigned at least one Unit of Measure.
By far the most popular UoM is the net mass (or weight) of the commodity being moved.  For most commodities, net mass is the only measure requested, so for consistency, most countries require it to be declared for ALL imported and exported items.  Due to that, any other units of measure are generally referred to as "supplementary" or "special" units.  The two other popular UoM are volume (e.g. Litres) for liquids, and Number of Pieces.  The latter UoM is particularly used for high-technology goods where both the value and weight are falling over time.
Coming back to Customs Duties; the most popular determination is by proportion of the assessed value - also known as "ad valorum" duty.  But for low-cost goods - particularly foodstuffs - duty may be chargeable according to the quantity imported - known as "specific" duty.  For some commodities, a combination of ad valorum and specific duties is charged.  Where the duty is not ad valorum, the quantity in the Customs UoM is needed in order to calculate the import duty, which often has a significant influence on sourcing decisions.
SAP software - both ECC and GTS - provides functionality to handle Customs UoM.  Since the net weight is a standard field in all logistics transactions, most Tariff Codes do not need anything extra.  But where supplementary units are specified, those UoM need to be assigned to the codes so that the Customs Declarations respond by ensuring that the associated quantities are provided.  In some countries, more than one additional UoM may be specified for some codes.  For example, some years ago, batteries used to need a declaration of weight, number of pieces, and number of cells.  SAP ECC can accommodate up to 2 additional UoM, and SAP GTS can accommodate up to 3.
In some countries, it is neccessary to state both the Quantity and the UoM in the Customs Declaration.  In others, the UoM for the supplementary unit is assumed, since it is mandated in the Tariff.  Where it must be stated, the UoM codes often do not correspond to the ISO codes so translation is needed.  SAP GTS provides that mechanism for matching Customs (external) UoM to SAP (internal) UoM.  If those relationships are maintained, then the system is able automatically to express the Product quantity in the Customs UoM.
In SAP GTS, specifying a supplementary unit for a Tariff or Commodity Code automatically opens up an additional field in the Declaration item screen when the Product has been classified with that Code.  And the standard incompletion code can ensure that the field is populated before the Declaration may be sent to the Customs Authority.
Data Providers understand the need for supplementary UoM, and their Tariff lists include them.  However, problems may occasionally arise when there are regional differences in the assigned units.  For example, in the EU, although the Customs Tariff is shared by all Member States, adjustments may be made on a national basis for Excise goods.  In those cases, it may be necessary to edit the data-files to meet the specific regional requirements.
Hope that helps.

Dave

  • Internal and external reference voltage for DAC

    Hi
For example: If we are using +10V as the internal reference voltage, the range of the DAC would be -10 to +10V. But if the signal goes only from -5 to +5 V, the resolution of DAC is not getting maximized. To maximize the Resolution, an external refernce voltage of +5V can be given. Now the range of the DAQ will be -5V to +5V, same as that of the signal..
What is internal and external reference voltage for DAC ?????

  • PXI 6733 smallest voltage for external reference?

Hi, I need to know, what is the smallest voltage possible for external reference?
I couldnt find this information anywhere, I just found, the internal reference is 20Vpp and the device is 16 bit, so the LSB is 312uV.
If I connect the EXT_REF with smaller voltage, let say 5V, the reference becomes 10Vpp and the LSB becomes 156uV.
What is the smallest voltage that I can use, in other words, what is the smallest LSB I can get with this device?
    regards,
    yan.

In prinziple you can decrease the external reference as you wish. But be aware of the error margin you create.
You can see in the following graph that the measurement error consists of three parts, which have different reaction to the range:
It all ends up to the following equation:
You can see that the gain error (the first part) is only half the equation to finding the actual accuracy of the generation. So, assuming that we have zero temperature drift, if we can greatly reduce our gain error by providing a highly accurate reference signal, then we are still left with the offset error that is independent of the reference signal.
You will also add additional error margin by using the external source, which ofcause has to be calibrated separetly, and adds an additional voltage drift. I therefor would recommend not to use reference voltages below 0.5V.

  • External reference for USB 5132

    Hello,
I have a couple (hopefully) general questions about using an external reference clock on our USB 5132 digitizer.  We want to lock it to the other oscillators in our system, all of which are presently locked to one 10 MHz reference.  If I connect our existing 10 MHz reference to the PFI1 input, my questions are:
    1.  Is the 5132 now locked to our system?  Or, do we need to specifiy in the setup software that we want to override the 5132's internal reference and rely entirely our external reference?
    2.  In order to have the best possible lock, do we need to tell the 5132 to sample at a frequency that is evenly divisible by 10 MHz (e.g. 20 MHz, 10 MHz, 5 MHz, 2 MHz, etc.)?  Similarly, are we worse off if we want to sample at say, 13 MHz?
    Thanks for any thoughts.
    Best regards,
    Penny
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello Penny,
    1. Yes the 5132 is locked to your reference system 10MHz clock (with some offset due to delay in the time it takes to transmit the clock signal from your system to this USB device) if you selected the PFI line as the source of an external timebase. Please take a look at the following example Help>>Find Examples>>Hardware Input and Output>> Modular Instruments>>NI-Scope>>Features>> niScope EX External Clocking.vi.
    2. No, although I would expect that if you enter in 13MHz and your device was not capable of doing this it would coerce it to the closest value. I would suspect that only integer divide downs from the clock in question are valid such that 12. 5MHz is the value it would coerce to if you were to request a 13MHz value (with a 50MHzexternal clock). The 5132 can not do RIS so sampling at 20MHz with a 10MHz SampleClock Timebase Source is not feasable.

  • How many DNS record need to create in Internal & external DNS server for exchange?

    Hi friends,
I recently installed Exchange Server 2010 in my organization for testing purpose and I've register a pubic ip too for exchange server on godaddy.com. How many
internal & External DNS records reqired to configure on external & Internal dns server so my all feature like Auto-discover, Activ -sync,& webmail start working perfectly.
It's my first time configuring exchange for a organization.

    Hi,
Just as what ManU Philip said, you need to create
Autodiscovery.domaincom and mail.domain.com for external dns server.
Generally, you configure your Exchange Servers as DNS clients of your internal DNS server.

  • Routing issue with dual Ethernet NICs - Internal/External Configuration under Windows 8.1 - what am I doing wrong ?

I have a PC hosting Windows 8.1, attached to two Networks. One leads to the internet - and uses the private IP address (172.*)  the other is purely internal (also using the private address 198.*) but,  has no internet connectivity.  I'm finding
that if I don't disable my internal NIC, I can't access any internet sites. Is this a bug, or have I not done something correctly.
I have also, a Windows 7 PC, attached to the same Networks, and it exhibits no issues when connecting to either the internet or to internal locations.
(Both are Enterprise builds, though only across a Windows for Workgroups network).
Can anyone tell me what I need to be doing with Windows 8.1 please, to make both internal & external network connectivity work as is the case with Windows 7 ?
I'm only running IPv4, and both Wired Networks have at their respective ends, Routers that support DHCP & NAT. Though the internal Router's external port is not connected to anything.
    Thanks in advance...

    Hi,
Can you tell me what you have tried so far and how did you set?
Firstly please update all network adapter driver.
    After that, do the following:
    1. Open the Command Prompt (Admin).
    2. Run "Ipconfig /all" to check your nics IP information.
    3. Use route command tell the computer which interface you want the packets to leave from.
    Assuming Network A is...
    10.10.11.0 /24
    Router is 10.10.10.1
    and Network B is...
    10.10.12.0 /24
    Router is 10.10.10.2
    then use this command:
    route add 10.10.11.0 mask 255.255.255.0 10.10.10.1 -p
    route add 10.10.12.0 mask 255.255.255.0 10.10.10.2 -p

  • External Reference number not copied in Service Confirmation

    Hi,
We are on CRM 5.0 SP11. We have Mobile Service 5.0 SP11.
In Mobile Service in the Service Order creation screen we have a window to input External reference number. When we create a Service Confirmation as a followup document of Service Order, SAP by default only allows to copy Reference Object,Subject and notes (both header and item level) to the Confirmation.
Does anyone have idea how we can copy the External Reference number to Confirmation when we do followup to Service Orders on mobile.
This functionality works fine on Enterprise.
    Thanks,
    Yatin

    Hello,
The external number won't be copied by standard as Wolhfard said they are different documents.
You need to code this to make this copy from service order to Service confirmation.
Open your Mobile Application Studio and make following changes.
Open the BusinessObject "BOMSVHelper"  and view the code. Go to the Method "CopySrvTransHeader"  write the following code in it.
    Find the code
    UserName = _unwind(BusinessRootObject.UserDataDictionary.GetData("USERNAME"))
and paste the following code below it.
Dim servconfobj As BusinessObject = bocopysrvtrans.SalesInfo
Dim servtransobj As BusinessObject = orderheaderobj.SalesInfo
            servconfobj.SetAttribute("PoNumberSold", servtransobj.GetAttribute("PoNumberSold"))
            servconfobj.SetAttribute("PoDateSold", servtransobj.GetAttribute("PoDateSold"))

  • Internal/External displays blank when external connected while sleeping

When I connect my external display to my MBP (late 2011) while it's sleeping, the MBP awakens but both the internal & external display are blank.
The MBP is running ML and is connected to external display via DVI. No response to external Logitech keyboard or internal keyboard. Currently my only recourse is to ssh in from a co-located Vista machine & 'sudo reboot'.
If MBP has recently been used  (say < 5 min or so), everything's fine -- external display fires up & external KBD/Mouse work.
I'd be interested in any way to prevent this problem if I forget to open MBP for a moment before connecting Power/DVI/USB. Alternately, a command
I could issue via SSH to reinitialize display would be great.
    Thanks. Kent

  • Using an external reference clock for counter measurements

    Hi all,
    I have several PXI chassis
configured for testing, each of which uses an NI-DAQ-6221 for
conducting period and frequency measurements among other things.
However each of my setups give me a slightly different reading when conducting identical measurements due to
the tolerance of the DAQ on board reference
    clocks.
The chassis' have a 10MHz GPS calibrated reference fed into them via the reference input and this is connected to the backplane. I have tried and failed to try to route and use this as my reference
base for my counter measurements so that each of my cards will give me
the same reading every time. I have tried the routing method using the
DAQ connect terminals vi but could not get this to work. I have looked through the labview examples and cant find anything thta shows me what i need to do to take frequency and period measurments using my external reference as my base clock. There are some examples showing the use of the DAQmx timing vi set to sample clock mode which allows a clock source to be selected. However these examples are only for counting digital events and when i apply the same vi to a frequency or period measurement an error is thrown saying 'invalid timing type for this channel', 'you can select: implicit, on demand'.
    I do not
understand the working of the DAQ hardware very well so was hoping
someone could help explain to me how to do this if it is even possible
or give me any guidance as to how else to overcome my problem. Any vis
showing how to use my external 10MHz reference
as the base clock for these kind of measurements would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Dan

    Hi Dan,
Thanks for the reply. When trying to use the connect terminals i just tried connecting the PXI10 to the onboard clock in the hope that this would configure it to use the PXI10 signal to synchronise the onboard clocks via the PLL. Doing this didn't throw any errors as i recall, it just gave me a reading of infinity as it couldn't measure the signal.
I have actually just managed to successfully do what i wanted thanks to help from Rob at NI tech support UK. There is a DAQmx timing property node which allows you to choose a reference clock source. By using the PXI_Clk10 signal this makes the DAQ synchronise its reference clocks to this signal. I have included an image of the code i used to achieve this to take period measurements.
Here is a very useful link which Rob sent me which may be of help to anyone else with similar problems

  • Source system set up for internal / external access

    Hi all.
We have an EP 6.0 (NW04 SP16) system delivering BW data from a back-end BW 3.1/3.2 system.  We are using BW Report iViews to deliver all reports to external and internal users.  I am having a very specific problem when setting up the source system for the BW system.
The BW Report iView object uses the WAS hostname parameter(found under: System Administration -> System Configuration -> Systems -> BWSourceSystem -> Open ->Object -> "Web Application Server (WAS)") when retrieving the back-end BW report.
When this parameter is set using an internal host id (internal_host.company.com) internal users can access the report in question, but external users can't.  Alternatively, when this parameter is set using an external host id (ie. the host of our DMZ proxy server) external users can access the report, but internal users can't.
I need to find a way to use one hostname for this parameter that will work for both internal and external users.  I have worked with the HTTPURLLOC table and this solution works great for URL iViews, but not for BW Report iViews.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Thanks!

    Hi Shashi.
We did find a solution using web dispatcher.  We actually installed two instances of web dispatcher... one in our DMZ for external access and another one our corporate LAN.  The web dispatchers are configured identically and the EP instance knows only one hostname:
    name.company.com
The port passed to the URL https://name.company.com:port is what tells web dispatcher what to do with the request (ie. pass the request to EP, BW, ECC, R/3, etc.).
Be aware that EP allows for only one hostname for Source System Setup - my name.company.com in my example above -(this is the EP Web Application Server hostname (WAS) parameter found under System Admin - System Config - Systems) - so you may need to do something like we did:
register name.company.com on the internet as a public address and use that DNS mapping for external users (using your DMZ version of webdispatcher).  Subsequently, use internal DNS or host name mapping to register an internal private addresss for name.company.com (using your LAN version of web dispatcher).  this will allow both internal / external users access to the portal and other SAP back-end systems.
It may sound a bit kludgy, but believe me - we tried everything to make this work.  I took this all of the way to SAP and this was the recommendation SAP made for allowing both internal and external users access to portal and BW data.
    Hope this helps!
