Up/down project compatibility in AE 9.0X

I have a project created and saved using AE 9.02.  When I tried to open it in 9.01, AE wouldn't play ball.
Is there a way to save a project in 9.02 to make it openable in 9.01?
My situation: I am a student in a school, so I have almost no control over which system and which version I am going to get.  Updating the 9.01 machine to 9.02 is out of the question as students do not have admin rights on the machines.

I agree with Seb. Never had a problem hopping between versions. The only reason I can imagine could be features fixed/added only in the 9.0.2 update, i.e. the changes to the RED importer and fixes for AVCHD.

  • FCS 2 Leopard/Tiger project Compatibility

    Howdy Gang
I'm in the Television business and work with FCS 2 at work as well as at home. Recently I upgraded my home machine (intel iMac core duo) to leopard. Since the upgrade I've been having project compatibility problems. When I get home with a project I created at work, I get a message saying that the project is from an older version of FCS, and if I continue without Saving As, I'll not be able to open the project back up on the Tiger machine at work. I'm running updated versions of FCS 2 on both machines, but one is leopard and one is Tiger. Just wondering if anyone else has run into this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If any more info would help just let me know.

I have the same problem. Work OS is Tiger 10.4.11, home machine is Leopard 10.5.x (not in front of it) and both have FCS2 installed on them. The versions are the same, I just did the updates, and yet I'm still finding that the Tiger version of FCP can't read the Leopard files. I haven't tried the reverse, yet, but I'm headed home to grab some stuff and will do so there.

  • Intel and PowerPC Final Cut project compatibility

I have two computers, a laptop and a desktop, that I use with Final Cut Studio. Both run PowerPC chips. If I purchase a new computer with the Intel chipset, will Final Cut projects be able to go back and forth between the Intel and PowerPC computers? I spend quite a bit of time editing on the road with my laptop then get back to the office and copy the project file over to my office computer. When going back on the road, I copy the project file from my office computer and put it back on my laptop so I can keep editing while traveling.
    Thanks!

There is no compatibility issue between PowerPC and Intel as far as Final Cut Pro is concerned. You just have to make sure you have the same version of Final Cut on all machines, because older versions of Final Cut Pro will not open files created in newer versions. You don't have to worry about the processor.

  • Formatting hard drive for project compatibility PC /Mac

I'm editing a project for a friend who uses PC. I bought a Lacie Quadra d2 drive for the project. The media files I'm being give are DV and WMV files, which my friend will copy to the drive.
So my question is: Will there be any compatibility issues and is there any way to avoid them?
Should I (or how should I) format hard drive before giving it to my friend? And will I be able to take drive back as is and work with the files?
    I appreciate any guidance.

Download this free driver: http://www.ntfs-3g.org/index.html#download and you can format the drive as NTFS, which both of you can read and write.
Once installed, NTFS will appear as a formatting option in Disk Utility.

  • CS6 project compatibility in PR CC?

Hello, So as mentioned in title i hope you've got the idea?
I've been trying to update to CC for since 3 months but current running projects are delaying since than,so i decided to update as it is. I'm sure CS6 projects can easily run on CC but just to ask here first?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
My apologies, I wrote the compatibility of going from cc to cs6.
Definitely you can open a cs6 project in cc 2014, it would automatically convert the project and it should work fine.
    Thank You

  • Project compatibility: Leopard vs. Tiger, PowerPC vs. Intel

Gotta question... We are about to upgrade our older edit bay to a new mac pro, but it is VERY IMPORTANT to us to continue to share project files. The newer one is a G5 with OS 10.4.11, and obviously the new one will be a Mac Pro with 10.5.
Is there any published information on whether FCP 6.0.2 and Motion 3.0.2 projects are fully compatible across Leopard/Tiger machines and across Intel/PPC machines? I could not find any searching Apple's website.
I'm guessing some of you with rotating upgrade schedules have already faced this question!

Its not the OS version or PowerPC/Intel architecture that matters. Its the version of Final Cut Pro that matters. If both computers are using Final Cut 6.02 for example, then the project files will be exchangeable. On the other hand, if one machine has FCP 5.x and the other has 6.x, then the newer version will open the older version file, but once you save it with the newer version, you can't go back to the older version.
There are also some differences within major versions. Sometimes one 5.x release is not compatible with a 5.y release. I can't recall where the breaks were made. But it doesn't matter if you have the same point release on both machines.
If you mix Intel/PowerPC, then you'll at least need both machines to have FCP 5.1 or later since earlier versions aren't compatible with Intel processors.

  • NetBeans and JSE projects compatibility

I am currently using NetBeans 4.1 for my Java development and am thinking of trying out JSE8. If I do this will my NB4.1 projects open in JSE and if I decide to go back to NB will NB still be able to open them along with any new projects I create?

I agree with your last statement. If I knew I was going to be able to get JSE at no cost as I can now with JSE8 this would be no decision to make. I however will have to convince the company I work for that it is worth the cost. We are also starting to train in two part time Java developers (I am currently the only one) and it will be hard to get them to buy licences for part time developers. If we could use JSE and NB in together this would not be an issue. Any one have any experience doing this? Has any one seen an official statement from Sun with their plans on how they plan to license JSE in the future? In another post I saw some one linked to an Infoworld article that claimed Sun planned to make all if its software free but it gave no time tables.

  • Quality drop in sized down projects

    Hello,
I just purchased Captivate 3. We need it to create
demonstrations of our software product. Our software is optimized
for 1024 x 768 pixel screen. My objective is to create swf files in
800 x600 pixel from a Captivate project that was recorded on 1024 x
768 resolution. I tried resizing the project to 800 x 600 and then
create an swf file but that really comprimized the picture quality
as especially the text parts became fuzzy. These swf files will be
used for marketing purposes so it's very important that we get the
best quality swf files in 800 x 600. We will then merge wav files
with these swf files but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.
For now, any suggestions you may have will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much in advance for your time.

    Hi again ofalkie
The HTML page and the SWF are two different files that are
designed to work in concert. Here's the deal.
There is nothing to stop you from simply publishing a .SWF
with no HTML page in sight and pushing the .SWF to a server. Then
give your user a link that points at the .SWF. This will usually
work with no issue. The problem with this approach is that the .SWF
displays to your user at whatever size the browser is opened to. If
your user resizes to a fairly small window, poof! The .SWF obeys
    and resizes accordingly.
This may make you wonder why there is an HTML page, no? The
HTML page contains special code that essentially says: Hey there
Mr. Browser, I'm going to present a movie at the following size. If
the user sizes you too small, present them with scroll bars. If
your area is large enough to comfortably display the movie, center
    the .SWF on the page.
So the purpose of the .HTM page is to ensure your movie is
presented to your user at the size you intended it to be. Assuming
you haven't altered the size using Project > Resize Project, the
movie presented should be crystal clear and not fuzzy.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Garageband 10 project compatability?

    Hello
I'm an aspiring musician, and I use Garageband(6.0.5) a lot for my production work as it is simple and really effective.
I do this on my Macbook Pro.
However, I shift my work to my studio for further mixdown, which uses Logic 9.
I've been considering the update to Garageband v10 for a while now, but I'm concerned about the project files opening in Logic 9.
Ive had no issues so far. My .band files now open seemlessly in Logic, and I'm able to complete my work.
Will I be able to even after the update to v10?
Or will it require an update to Logic X as well?
    Thanks and cheers

A GarageBand 6.0.5 Project can be opened in Logic 9 and Logic Pro X
A GarageBand X Project can only be opened in Logic Pro X. Logic 9 doesn't understand the new Project file and you will get an error message. As you can see by the text of the error message, L9 doesn't even know that this is a GarageBand file. It thinks that the file is a Logic file.
Opening a GarageBand X Project in Logic Pro X is no problem, because GarageBand X is basically just a light version of Logic Pro X. If you need any help with learning either GarageBand or LPX, I have written graphically enhanced manuals for both apps "GarageBand X - How it Works" and "Logic Pro X - How it Works", both are also available as interactive multi-touch iBooks on the iBooks Store.
Using both GarageBand and Logic is now very easy, because Logic has a special mode where you can disable features which makes it easy to transition from GBX to LPX. It even adds the wooden sidebars in Logic to make the GarageBand user feel more at home.
    Hope that helps

  • CS5 exporting project compatibility

With the CS5 coming out, building upon ever more export options,...
does anyone know of a good definitive (and updated) overview on the different export capabilities of Flash Professional and what they are best for?
In particular, I'm looking at a project trying to develop an app (demo at this point) that would run on various mobile devices other than the iPhone, though that device is the main avenue. Is web application (non-flash) the best answer?
    Thanks

There are two checkboxes to look at:
Export Audio in the main settings panel
Multiplexing (tab) and choose DVD, or similar, rather than "None."
Even with Export Audio checked, if Multiplexing is set to None, you will get two separate files, one Audio and one Video.
Good luck, and I hope that is the answer,
    Hunt

  • Imovie/Final Cut project compatibility

Can you open Imovie digitized movie clips/bin in Final Cut Pro.
I hope so because, I've digitized a ton of media into Imovie, which I'm going to end up editing on Final Cut Suite.

Yes, you just need to find the iMovie QT files and bring them into FC. Don't delete the files! Importing them into FC just gives FC a reference to the original media. And, one big advantage to FC is the ability to log & capture footage. Very beneficial in terms of capturing only what you want (which saves HD space) and in terms of editing since you have already previewed the clips you have captured.

  • Spry Drop Down IE6 compatibility issue

I know the issue is with li items not floating in IE6- even
when you set display to block. I was wondering if there is any kind
    of workaround?

No one has any ideas? Someone had mentioned to me that it was
some hybrid code that would have to be inserted to make IE read
differently that Safari, Firefox. Not sure how to go about finding
    the code I'd need, though.
    Thanks in advance,
    Burt
