Up Next playing songs not listed

I'll select a whole album to play while iTunes is in the My Music window, using the Column Browser to bring up a whole album.
The Up Next drop down will list the entire album - as expected - but every few songs it will just play a completely random song from my library.
These random songs are never listed in the Up Next list they just randomly start playing.
Does anyone have any idea why this is happening or how I can stop it?? It's super annoying! This only started when I upgraded to the new iTunes.
Thanks in advanced!
iTunes 12.0.1, Mac OSX Mavericks 10.9.5, Macbook Pro 13.

Two things contribute to this.
One is that some songs might be tagged as Part Of A Compilation (see the Get Info on those songs/albums) in which case they will not show up under the artist.
Second, is that an artist needs at least two different Albums identified for their songs to all list under the artist. In other words, if you import a CD with album name then add a handful of misc songs without album names associated, those handful will not show up under the artist name.
But add an album name to at least one of those handful of misc. songs and then ALL of the songs should show up under the artist.
You don't have to do it for all of them, just enough to have two different albums identified with the artist. But in general, it is a good idea to make sure your tunes have Song name, artist name, and album name associated with them as a minimum.

i just dowloaded an il divo album.  when it was placed on my ipod classic it came in as 8 different songs; not listed as 1 album with 8 songs.  this has happened before with other purchases.  Why?  How can I insure an entire album is saved as an entire album and not individual songs. And now how can I move individual songs to the album they belong in?

I seem to have fixed it by putting <div  class="clearfloat"></div> after the navigation bar?

  • Songs not listed by artist

    Hi
I have synced my entire music collection, most of which consists of mp3s ripped from my CD library, onto my 2 week old ipod 30gb with video. I noticed a few days ago that some of the songs from one album weren't listed under the 'by artist' section. It now seems that there are a fair number of songs that are also missing from under their respective artist on the ipod.
The strange part of it is that I know the songs are on the ipod — I can get them to play by making a playlist in itunes and transferring that over. The ipod also reads the correct artist and title tags for the song once it's in the playlist.
I'd much appreciate it if anyone can help me get the songs to appear under the artist list as this is my prefered way of finding my songs.
    Thanks
    Greg

This isn't foolproof but there are usually two things that contribute to songs not appearing under Artist on the iPod, both due to information either in or missing from the Get Info>Info tab against the song in iTunes. 1) the song is marked as part of a compilation or 2) it is missing an album name.
If the tracks are ticked in the Get Info>Info tab as part of a compilation, they will not appear under Artist on the iPod. Highlight a song in iTunes that you know is not appearing correctly on your iPod. Right click on it and choose Get Info and click the Info tab (alternatively choose Get Info from the File menu), if "Part of a Compilation" is marked untick it and afterwards update your iPod, you should find it now appears as normal. Compilations are stored in a separate folder in iTunes so the songs don't appear inside the normal Artist>Album folder which may be why this happens.
Also if tracks are missing an Album name in the Info tab, this information needs to be filled in, in the absence of one you can just add None or Miscellaneous. See this link for more detail: I don't see some of my songs when browsing by artist on my iPod

  • IPod not playing songs/ not detected in iTunes!

Okay. I've been searching for days in forums, etc for a solution to no avail.
    I have a 4GB ipod nano 3rd gen.
I run Windows Vista. I updated my iTunes to version 8 and plugged in my iPod to charge it. First time charging the iPod in this computer running Vista. Every other time I would charge in my other computer running XP.
When I connected the iPod I recieved the message saying the iPod may have disc problems. I cancelled the message. I recieved a message asking if I would like to sync the songs to or from the iPod. I chose to sync the songs from my iPod onto my computer (again, first time using this Vista computer).
After syncing the songs onto my Vista computer I noticed it had not synced all the songs. I ejected the iPod. Plugged it back in. This time when the message prompted about the disc needing repair I chose yes.
My iPod was not detected by iTunes, and has not been from that point on. Furthermore, I cannot play songs from my iPod. I can power it on, scroll through songs, etc, but when I choose a song to play it either flashes the album cover then that screen goes away right away, or it freezes for about ten seconds, in which time if I circle the wheel I hear my click volume going up and down but nothing on screen is happening at all. Another weird thing is I can load the Quiz Show game that plays clips of music and has you guess what they are, but when I play the game now it's just the Quiz Show music the whole time and none of my songs will play.
This is really weird and I don't know why no one has posted a solution on any websites yet. I have read so many differrent threads on so many differrent websites, but no one can answer my question.

  • Bands/songs not listed

anyone know what the deal is with bands/songs not being listed on itunes? ie - AC/DC

iTunes only list/has songs and artist from record companys that have signed agreements/contracts with apple. The contracts basicly give apple rights to sell the songs and record companys the legal right to collect a percentage of money from the sale. there are alot of main stream, big artist that have not been added to the store yet cuz the record company there apart of have not signed a contract giving apple rights to sell there music online

  • Songs not listed as album....

Purchased album, appears as 76 individual song and songs are listed under "purchased pps".  ...wanted/expected album...what does pps mean? Help appreciated! Thx.

Is a compilation or an album of various artist? If so they will be listed in various. You can fix this by opening iTunes on your computer, putting all the tracks in one folder and renaming it, then sync it with your iPad.

  • Songs not listed under artist name.

As an example, I have 3 Journey songs on my Ipod. However, only one shows up under the artist heading "Journey". The other two are available under the songs list, but I want them grouped correctly. I deleted them off my Ipod and added them again. The artist name is spelled correctly, there is no other solution I can see...any suggestions???

I have the same problem with my I Pod nano (1st generation).
It appeared after an software update delivered by apple - now version 1.3.1.
The problem is only there, when you have typed in an album name for one song but not for the other songs. Then he just shows the songs, where the album name is available.
    For Example:
    Artist - Album - Title
Journey - Escape - Stone in love
    Journey - - Anytime
If you click on Music - Artists - Journey. He directly shows you the contend of the album escape. You can't access to the song "Anytime" - because there you don't have an Album information.
That's a bug in the new software version. It was not in the previous software version.
Hope Apple will solve this in the next software update.

  • Music playing, just not listed in interface

    I'm experiencing a slight problem.
I can play my music just fine, but for some strange reason the music files aren't showing up in the list.
Clicking around between playlists or some such doesn't help! Can someone help me!?

    Not really solved, but ...
I AppZapped iTunes and reinstalled. And presto ... everything's running smooth again.

  • Song not listed as purchased

So, I bought a song, via iTunes credit, from an album on iTunes. I noticed the song isn't listed as purchased when you go back and view the album on the iTunes store. But, if you try to put it in wishlist, it says it is already purchased and you can't do that. It downloaded and plays fine. But, if I am interested in buying the rest of the album, the price hasn't reduced. Does it take a bit to reflect as purchased on the iTunes store?

apparently, this only works on some songs.

  • Purchased songs not listed as purchased

About a year ago, I bought a couple of songs off itunes. Recently, I wanted to buy the rest of the album. When I got to the page, I noticed that the itunes store showed no evidence of me buying them in the first place(including on my "purchased" list). I sifted through my emails and found that I had indeed purchased them, as there are receipts from itunes detailing the transactions. How do I fix this?

Okay, so after some more poking around it showed up in my "purchased" list, but for some reason the song in the "purchased" list says it's not available in the U.S. store(even though I bought it using the U.S. store). Not sure how this happened, but it did.

  • Songs not playing on iPod Touch

I upgraded my iPod Touch 4G to iOS 5.  I had trouble with apps but they are fixed now.  My problem now is music.  It retained my data but some songs won't play.  I didn't buy them on iTunes - they are from an older library when I didn't have iTunes.  Now it just plays the next song and it's very irritating.  They play on my computer and I haven't changed the file location.  Any tips?

Not sure if your issue is the same I had: not playing tunes, playing the wrong tune, skipping ahead several tunes, selected song and playing song not matching. Here was my fix:
Altered from original solution from Emily P:
Okay, mine now works here is what I did.
plug in the iPhone, iPad etc
in iTunes select the phone or iPad
Under Summary uncheck "Sync with this....."
Under "Music" uncheck the "Sync Music"
    Sync
Let it remove all the songs, dont worry it will come back no problems.
Once that is all done all the music on the phone or ipad should be gone.
Now check them both back on, sync, and everything should copy back onto it.
    Working now !!!!!

  • Problems with playing songs in iTunes

as the subject says. I have som problems with playing songs. not everyone just a some..
If we take for example that a song is 8min. then at 1.40 it just stops and goes to the next one. I can jump over it with pressing in the middle for example. it plays. as normal. UNTIL. 3 mins. then the same problems appear. I don't really understand how. just between 1.40-1.50 iTunes thinks that the song is finished. I know my english isn't so good but cuz there is no swedish support. I have to write here. any answers would be good

    I'm having a similar problem.
Every now and then, a track from a ripped CD or from iTunes or from eMusic will "look" OK in iTunes (or on my iPod), but when the track plays, it gets partially through and it jumps to the next track in the playlist.
For example, if playback of track 1 pauses and jumps to track 2 at 1:30 into playback of track 1, & I click on 1:31 or later in track 1, the rest of track 1 will play fine. But if the playback of track 1 starts at the before the "skip point," the track will stop & iTunes (or iPod) goes on to the next track in the playlist. If I locate the file (on my external drive) and play it in the finder, there's always buzzing sound at the point where the iTunes jumps to the next track.
For ripped CD's this is not a huge deal, I just re-rip & usually all is well. With eMusic, I can download again, but with iTunes, I have to file a complaint & so far they've just credited my account, which is OK, but time consuming.
At first I thought the problem was with my optical drive, but then the problem started happening with downloads from iTunes and eMusic as well. NONE of these shenanigans happened before I upgraded to iTunes 7.6, so I'm wondering if that's where the problem is. One thing's for sure: I'm not going to "jump" at the next upgrade of iTunes!
I'm totally stumped & bummed. iTunes used to be a really good friend, now I find myself wondering if I should bother with putting my entire CD collection on iTunes if it's no longer as reliable as it used to be.

  • When playing songs in iTunes playlist, How do you keep the next song from jumping to next song? I am working on song list updating other tracks info and then the next song starts and I lose my spot in song list?

When playing songs in iTunes playlist, How do you keep the next song from jumping to next song? I am working on song list updating other tracks info and then the next song starts and I lose my spot in song list?

    Max OSX 10.6.8, iTunes 11.1
I had a similar problem: I wanted to synch my playlist to my iphone. I like to have my playlist sorted by genre. But under each genre, albums are not sorted by the track numbers. This is a problem, especially when I am listening to club mixes when the DJ smoothly transitions from 1 track sequentially to the next one. Under the properties of each audio file, the Track Numbers and Disc Numbers are already there.
My perfect solution was to turn On Sorting - Sort Album under View>Show View Options. Then, select all the songs in that album (Shift click, Cmd click, etc) , and Edit multiple item information (Cmd I). You will see Info-Video-Sorting-Options buttons. Click on Sorting. Then, under Sort Album, Enter the name of the album. Then OK.
You should now have the playlist sorted by Genre, then each album individually sorted by track numbers. On your playlist you should see, if you scroll right, the column added called "Sort Album".
    Hope this helps.

Not sure why this is happening and it is a pain. Once the Purchased list sorted by 'date added' go to the left most column and select the top - in my Purchased list the new items go to the bottom and I drag them back up to the top position.
