Up to 7th repair and apple may replace my ibook with a macbook

I am currently without my ibook for at least the 7th time because it is getting repaired.
One of the salesmen at the apple store said to call apple and tell them exactly whats happened with my laptop and explain how many reapairs ive had done to it ect.
when i call ed them they were happy to listen to me basically ***** about how many reapais its had and then finally they said they could replace it if i get all the paper work into them bexcause they only have 3 repairs on record.
i will post if/when i reviece the repalcement or any other news

ok so i spoke to apple again yesterday after sending them all the job reports for my little ibook and theyve said that they are going to change my ibook for a brand new base model macbook
now im just waiting on the people in the replacements department to call me so i can organise a courier for it

It is unlikely but you can atleast try they might set it up for free but expect an email about paying 269 for physical damage

  • Will apple replace broken ibook with macbook

I don't know if Apple will replace my iBook G4 12" with a MacBook? I think that that won't happen for another 6 months or a year, is that true.
    iBook G4, Dell 4550, Dell 2200, Toshiba AS257, iPod 3G 15 GB, 2, iPod G4 20GB, iPod Mini 1G 4GB   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Apple will make three repair attempts per unit and then they'll give up on it. When they decide to give up and replace your computer they will replace it with a current model most like the computer you have. If you have a 1.33 ghz iBook this would mean a 1.83 ghz MacBook.
But don't expect Apple to be willing to replace your computer. They'll replace every part in your computer on the first repair attempt if they have to. Logic board complaints usually result in apple replacing the logic board, keyboard, hard drive, etc. Basically when they repair a computer for logic board failure (the most catastrophic thing other than the monitor) you get almost a new system back.

How can I make my Apple tv remote stop interacting with my MacBook and my iMac? Everytime I press the reote, the sound will go up or down on my computers or they will wake up.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
If you don't want to use a remote with your computer the easiest thing to do is just to turn the IR off. (System Preferences/Security/General)
If you still want to use your computer remote then you must pair your computers remote with the computer AND the Apple TV remote with the Apple TV.
To pair a remote with a device hold down the menu and FF buttons together for six seconds or until you see a chain icon on screen (best take the computer into another room, or turn it off, when you do this)

It looks like you may need a mini-displayport to Displayport cable. You can also try holding the option key while clicking on "scaled" to see if the option you need comes up.

  • Apple thunderbolt display can work with a macbook pro 2009?

Apple thunderbolt display can work with a macbook pro 2009 (mini display port? The image passes through the mini display port to the monitor, but the connections (Firewire, USB, ethernet) do not work. Can you confirm?

I'd love to get confirmation if this is the case too.   I was all ready to buy the new iMac until I found I couldn't use it as an external monitor for my DisplayPort-based MacBook Pro.  And then I was all ready to buy the new display.
I really hope Apple hasn't restricted this to purely Thunderbolt-equipped Macs. I know I'll end up upgrading my MacBook at some point but I can't do so just yet, and this means I'll have to go for some third-party display, camera, speakers etc for the new Mac Mini which is crazy.

  • I have an ipad, and want into replace my laptop with it. Is there a way of running iTunes from my ipad to allow me to put music onto my old ipad classic without the need for a computer.

Please help me on this issue. I have the latest full size ipad with retina display and want to replace my old hp laptop with it. I currently run an iPod classic and nano from the iTunes on it, but i want to run them off my ipad. Is this possible.

The iPad is not a computer, it cannot replace one, and it cannot sync music or media to other devices.
You need to keep a computer around if you want  to sync ther Classic and Nano. It may also be useful if you ever need to backup the iPad in case a restore is necessarry.

  • What would Apple do about these problems with my macbook?

I have the following problems with my macbook (only problem is i dont have a receipt because it was a gift but it is registered with a year left) and i was wonder what would apple do about them?
Slight blue discoloring around the edges of the macbook and around the mousepad/mouse button
    Gets very hot
    "Mooing" noise
Lcd bezel is not lined up correctly
Those are the top 4 i could think of, what do you all think? thanks!

They wont do anything about the heat as that is something that happens to all macbooks.
They might switch your fan out for a different model to eliminate the moo and they'll probably replace your discoloured plastic. If you mention the lcd bezel they would probably do that when they fix the other issues, if you dont tell them its a problem they might not do anything to it.
I wouldnt worry too much about not having a receipt. i should think an official apple store would take it in, even if they just sent it off to a repair center. Theres no way they can argue that its out of warranty considering the macbook hasnt been out anywhere near a year.

  • I'm considering replacing my iMac with a MacBook Pro

I am currently running iMac 4gb intel dual core. I believe it's from 2009. I'm not a gamer. I use it mostly for iTunes music and movies. Websurfing, email.
I keep my photos in iPhoto and if I "edit" them at all it's all within iPhoto. Every six months or so I burn my pics to disc and clear them off.
I've recently ripped a lot of my old DVDs into iTunes format and play them through the apple TV, along with a lot of my old cd's. My iTunes library is running in around 18gb. I do some random documents but nothing intensive. It works just fine and is sufficient for my needs. My main reasoning for wanting to replace it with a MacBook, is so I can get rid of the monstrosity of a computer desk clogging up my dining room and collecting random clutter. I've never owned a laptop before so the idea of portability is a bit lost on me. Also what would be the best way to transfer to my new computer?
I've been researching my options from new to refurb and my head is spinning. Im not sure the loss on screen size will be an issue. I'm learning about ssd and am concerned with his much flash I should have. I'm considering the 8gb 256 flash 13" and am including links to the refurbs I'm considering. I'm worried that either I won't be getting enough or I'll be paying too much for a lot that I don't need or use. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm sort of computer illiterate. I'd really like to stay around $1500 or less. Though I know the one 15" refurb is around $1700
    Thanks!

    anjale,
if  the idea of portability with an iPad is not lost on you, then think of portability with a MacBook Pro in the same light. I haven’t used an iPad myself, so I don’t know how comfortable writing e-mails would be on an iPad; my guess is that iTunes and Web surfing, as well as reading e-mails, would be fine on an iPad. I found that buying a used Mid 2010 MacBook Pro (roughly equivalent to an Early 2008 iMac) last year was sufficient for my needs, in combination with installing a SSD internally and putting its original hard drive into an external enclosure.

  • I have a Dell v715w printer and can't make it work with my macbook, need help

I have a Dell v715w printer and am having difficulty making it work with my MacBook Pro, need suggestions.

    Hi,
The printer do support AirPrint (the HP Deskjet 3525 is part of the 3520 Series).
Make sure your printer connected to the same router as your iPad and it shold be listed..
Be aware that you need iOS 4.2 or higher and your router should support Multicasting for AirPrint to work..
If the printer isn't listed please clarify your router brand and model, some routers don't offer Multicasting or have the protocol disabled by default.
