Up to date Update of Mac OS X Lion

The up-to-date update for OS X Lion, i want to do this but during the prossec of this it says that i need to show proof that i bought this laptop and i dont have any because i got it from santa and i am 11 years old, so what do i do? any suggestions

But this part is odd "need to show proof that i bought this laptop". I've never been asked for proof of purchase at the App store. Of course, at that age he probably cannot create an App Store acct and has no credit card.
I'd call the local Apple Store, or Apple Tech support, and see what they advise. There must be a way to get Lion without being old enough to vote

It's not a bad install of Mountain Lion. I've had the same thing happen to me, but it affected not only Mail, but a variety of other programs including iPhoto and MS Office, where I had to delete preferences, caches, and reinstall the OS as well as the program itself. I'm still having issues with Mail, so I've gone to another program.
Everything was fine upon the initial install. I restarted my iMac about two weeks after the install, and that's when the issues began to happen. I've reinstalled Mountain Lion twice, but the same issues arise.
As I mentioned above, you'll need to figure out which preferences are causing the issue, then reinstall the program, as a fresh reinstallation will do you no good unless you wipe the drive completely.

It isn't the fw in Network you want o use or look at, that's for something completely different.
My first suspect is the Power Adapter on the LaCie has gone.
At the Apple Icon at top left>About this Mac, then click on More Info, then click on Hardware>Firewire, what is listed there?

If your Firewire or USB isn't recognizing any device. A solution which has worked for some whose hard drive became invisible in 10.4 was simply to follow these four steps to reset the Firewire/USB bus:
1. Shut the machine down.
2. UNPLUG the power lead to the computer and any firewire/USB drive or devices.
3. leave it for 10 minutes.
4. Connect back up and reboot.

No internet using wifi after update to Mac OS X Lion.

After I have updated to Mac OS X Lion, I can't access to internet. My computer is iMac 20-inch, Mid 2007. can access to internet only with ethernet. I use onlu his wi-fi adapter. Nothing additional. My wi-fi adapter is Airport. I t workes on other computers near me on Snow Leopard. Tryed everything. Nothing helps!

I have a similar problem. Does the network show up? It shows up for me, but does nothing when clicked. Entering information manually using Join Other Network is my temporary solution.

Many millions have but read up on Mavericks and see if it suits you. We have no idea on your work practices, type of computer, etc. it's a personal choice and asking such a general question in a troubleshooting forum will not get you many positive replies. Google Mavericks OSXS and decide for yourself

If I update my Mac from Mac OS X Snow Leopard to Mac OS X Lion, will all my Apps and document be deleted? If not, will all my apps work and automatically go to Launchpad?

The upgrade process for and OS is already complex enough. To throw something like you suggest into the mix would just add more complexity and I know Apple doesn't want to do that. I am firmly of the opinion that it is the end-users responsibility to make sure all the software is compatible before upgrading the OS.
Look at it this way, if your HDD fails and you have to have it replaced and you don't have a backup, thus losing all your user data (which includes precious family photos) is that Apple's fault? They provided you with the tools to save that data in case of disaster but if you don't use it how are Apple responsible? In my opinion it is the same thing. It is my responsibility.

Software Update is not finding latest release (April 3) of Java 2012 001 Update on my iMac mid-2007, but it downloaded it automatically on my iMac mid-2011 yesterday. Both are running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3. When I try to download the update manually from Apple on my older iMac, it downloads okay, but when I try to open the dmg file, I get a warning message saying that opening this update may make your computer LESS secure. Do you want to proceed? (I did not).
Why would Software Update find this update and install it automatically on one iMac and not the other, if they are both running the same version of Mac OS X Lion? I checked the installed software list on my old iMac and the Java update does not appear there. Why would this update make my old iMac less secure?

Recall that Java is not installed as part of Lion.
You have to install it (and are asked if you want to) when you first try to run some java stuff.
Is it possible that the iMac 2007 does not have Java yet?
Try this: open Terminal (from Utilities) and type java -version (exactly like that, with the space before the hyphen).
What do you get?
Consistent with this theory is that the dmg thing gave you the warning - installing java might make your machine less secure because java is a means for bad guys to try to do bad things to your computer.

Service data location on mac os x lion server 10.7.4

here's my problem.....
in mac os x lion server, sever app, under hardware/settings, one can change the service data location (in my case from the server HD to an external HD), which I was trying to do. After the first attempt, I got an error message, something that had to do with "postgres". The server app created an some libraries on the external HD, but they were all empty.
Second attempt: I switched all services off and tried again: now I didn't get an error message, the app created the correct libraries and next to "service data" my external HD is being listed:..so far so good, I thought.
After restarting the server app, the external HD's name isn't listed anymore (and no other either) and the "edit" button is greyed out....that's it. No clue what to do now.
Any ideas?

When is adobe going to fix the update for the new Mac OS X Lion? I have updated my Mac with the new software now my flash player will not work properly. I have uninstalled then reinstalled several times to no avail. Could someone help me with this issue???

Somebody please help me!! I have a big problem now. It's very embarrassing me.
When i buyed the Lion after i saw the flash player not good, but i dont care, im waited the updates, maybe it will be good. But it wasnt.
I reinstalled my computer, after i put the new flash player (Adobe Flash Player version 11.1.102.62) after it wasnt good... i put on the beta version the 11.2 rc, and not good. I have safari and google chrome and firefox, and nothing good. And i forgot... we have 3 computers at home, and the another two is working good with windows... and everything is fast.
Some pages not loading, some pages is frozed, and lot of times i cant serching on the youtube. The FB games is not good too. And everything very slow.
I have a macbook air Late 2010 with Lion (10.7.3) and with safari 5.1.3 and chrome 17.0.963.56 and firefox 10.0.2.
How many months have to me to wait?

Keyboard Illumination Gone after updating to mac os x lion.

Im using my mid 2009 macbook pro more than 3 years now. i havent had any problems with my keyboard backlight. About 3 days ago i bought Mac OS X Lion and installed it, and the backlight is gone. The F5 - F6 buttons does nothing. And also "automatic keyboard illumination" option from system preference is also gone. Im sure that there is no hardware fault. I installed labtic software and it does illuminate my keyboard. so i know that my hardware is not broken. I think the Mac os x installer read my hardware wrong. Does any one have this issue? Can any body help me to get back my keyboard illumination? Thank you. Sorry for my English.

Could not find any solution through Google. Unfortunately I have to use my Macbook Pro without its most beautiful feature, "KEYBOARD BACKLIGHTING". No disrespect to LABTIC. But I don't like using it. IMac 21.5 slow after updating to Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5

About a year ago I updated my iMac 21.5 from mountain lion to OS X Lion 10.7.5. Since I did that, it has really been slow. For example - it takes around 5 minutes to start my Mac! And not just that, when I start it (after 2 minutes) the login pops up. I click on restart because the Mac started wrong (it´s kind of hard to explain... But, Mac is known for soft design, and when the login page pops up, it´s really, really slow and... can I say hard?).... The Mac starts over again and next time I don´t need to login. I just come to the frontpage directly. And this time it´s soft and the way it´s supposed to be. It´s still slow.

I believe the problem was with the delta update. But with the combo update the problems that people were having should no longer be an issue.
If you are still having problems, I believe the fix is to install the combo update on top of your current installation of 10.7.3.

Try repairing and verifying permissions. While I am not sure if this will resolve your problem, it doesn't hurt, and I would do this every time you update your computer.
