UPA Service: User Profile Sync is not currently provisioned

Hello Team
As we have SharePoint 2013 On-Premises and got stuck on the UPA, It was working fine previously (Before migrating SQL Server). I have migrated SQL Server 2008 R2 to SQL Server 2014 by using Alias and everything seems to be working properly except UPA.
I am unable to start user profile synchronization services and getting message in event viewer below
"The Execute method of job definition Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.UserProfileImportJob (ID d4e4db3c-37ee-4ae8-8a25-f3d974a8be95) threw an exception. More information is included below. Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object."
My SharePoint server fully pathced to SP1 and June 14 CU without any error/warnings on that. I have checked and searched and applied solution but still i am unable to start the services for FIM and UPA.
All the Users, Directroy and registry permission are correct. I dont want to remove existing one because mysite working, unable to synch new data from AD as this is not started.
User Profile Sync is not currently provisioned -
User profile synchronization service is not started:
Start and then stopped
Forefront Identity Manager Service:
Disabled
Forefront Identity Manager Synchronization Service:
trying to start and again got in disabled mode
Thanks in advance for solution-
Thanks Ranveer Katiyar

Below are the output for command-
Access Services 2010
Secure Store Service
PowerPoint Conversion Service Application
State Service
PerformancePoint Service Application
Visio Graphics Service
Managed Metadata Service
Workflow Service Application
App Management Service
Excel Services Application

Word Automation Services

After running above command its still showing "User Profile Sync is not currently provisioned" and following services not started- [In my case MySite is our User Profile Service Application]
User Profile Synchronization Service is in stopped mode
Forefront Identity Manager Service is in disable mode

  • Unable to start User Profile Sync Service

    Hi,
I am currently facing some issues with starting the User Profile Sync Service on my SP2013 farm.. I was wondering if someone could help me out a bit.
I have successfully installed the SP2013 farm on a environment that has access to our AD etc. and I have also
restored the database from SP2007 and converted it to Claims authentication etc. The one thing I can’t get to work is to enable the User Profile Sync Service on the server. I have checked quite a bit of TechNet blogs and other sites and tried almost everything
suggested but it still fails. I’ve also recreated the farm from scratch yesterday again but no luck still
    L.
The below is what I have done:
Farm Admin account – spadmin2013 is local admin on all SP Farm servers (2 WFE and 2 APP Servers) and has log on locally rights as well on security policy. On the SQL DB it has dbo permissions on the Sync, Profile and Social DB’s.
Farm Service account – spservice-s is a managed farm account that is used to run the various services of the farm (used during the config wizard part).
From within the Admin Control Panel I have verified the managed accounts and it is indeed spadmin2013 which owns the User Profile Sync Service (not the application itself). When I try to start the service it tries to do that for 5-10 minutes and then fails
and goes back to stop and I do not see any error. I have created a custom service application with new database that runs on spadmin2013/spfarm/ldap accounts etc. I can see from the Windows services – FIM and FIMSync service try to start using the spadmin2013
and then go back to disabled. I have also tried giving the spadmin2013 rights to replicate the AD as few blogs suggested that. I am not sure where this is going wrong or what is missing. I had successfully got this to work and still can get it to work on my
first SP2013 server which is a standalone – running SQL, SP app and WFE on the same box.
In fact I also tried to activate this service first before I joined my 3 other servers to the farm and had no luck. I am kinda lost here as to what is going on!

Right. i ran a new log as suggested. I have also cleared the config cache and created a Powershell profile as suggested in this link - http://blogs.msdn.com/b/bryanbolling/archive/2014/01/02/unable-to-start-user-profile-synchronization-service.aspx

We're trying to set up sync between Sharepoint and AD so photos are displayed in Lync.
The certificate referenced in 8311 is not the sharepoint root cert, its the UCC cert with our FQDN of the site. sharepoint.domain.com
Is this causing the problem with the sync and holding up the photos?
I have tried several proposed fixes, it hasn't helped.

  • Error - The registration of the service "User Profile Service" has failed. The user profile can not be loaded

I am running an environment with an Active Directory and Terminal Servers.
I have searched high and low for resolutions to this error but I cannot find anything related to my situation, let me explain further.
The fixes I found are related to local users only.
When I create a new user in the Active Directory I provide the paths to the profile folder in the "Remote Desktop Profile" and "Profile tab"  lets say for example \\ad001\home\%username% and \\ad001\profil\%username% .
I give rights to the user to read/write the "home" folder which is mapped for folder redirection.  An I know that when the user first logs on it should create a "v2.%username%" folder upon successful logon.  This is when I am
presented with the error message below:
"The registration of the service "User Profile Service" has failed.
The user profile can not be loaded"
Does anyone have any experience with this or know a suitable fix.  Again this is for the "Roaming" profile creation no local.
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Did you receive for any one user or for all users?
Have you tried to solve the issue by fixing the user account profile?
For that you can adjust the registry setting “ProfileImagePath” with
particular SID of that user under below mention path.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
Also if this can’t resolve the issue you can try to delete the SID of that user or renaming the old and and then check the result again by creating new profile for that users.
    More information.
You receive a "The User Profile Service failed the logon” error message

    Hope it helps!

  • Some of the users Profile photo is not showing in sharepoint team sites

Some of the users Profile photo is not showing in the list of SharePoint team site.
In the people picker their picture is grayed out but if you click on their name it will direct you to their mysite and the picture is there.
Can some body help on this.

    Try running:
    stsadm -o sync -deleteolddatabases 0
Then, run the timer job named similar to "User Profile Service Application - User Profile to SharePoint Full Synchronization". Wait for it to complete, then re-check the profile photo on the SharePoint site.

  • User Profile Sync - Fields That Appear Under the "Person or Group" Column

As I go to add a new column to a list on SharePoint 2010, I notice some fields under the drop down labeled "Show field". Inside that drop down there is a "Test" and a couple others I see in there that I don't notice in the User Profile
Sync. Forgive me, I've inherited this SharePoint config. Where should I be looking to find these phantom fields or how can I erase them?
    Thank you!

Those fields are part of the schema for the "Person or Group" field type and are not related to the UPS.

    Hi,
Please follow the steps in the link below to clear the configuration cache.

Or try to clear the file system cache on all servers in the server farm on which the Windows SharePoint Services Timer service is running. Microsoft has provided a step by step procedure on clearing file system cache from the SharePoint front-end servers

  • 2 User Profile Sync Services?

My UPS keeps crashing and we have business processes that depend on it. I spoke to Microsoft and they say that running it once an hour is the source of the issue (even though that's clearly an option in central admin and a full sync only takes a few minutes).
They say that takes an enormous amount of resources and that I could run a second AD Import only UPS once an hour and leave the full sync to once a day.
But wouldn't 2 UPS services update 2 different profile databases completely? I set up the second service in our test environment and gave it different database names and I'm testing now to see what happens. The existing user profiles will never see that
    data, right?
    Anyone else done this?

Yes and forwarded them to MS. Here's an example from one of the failures:

I had rebooted days ago... I have rebooted a couple of times today before posting here... Didn't help...
I found a procedure on another link that looked like it would reset the syncronization database, but that doesn't appear to have worked out any better. The procedure was a follows:
    $syncDBType = "Microsoft.Office.Server.Administration.SynchronizationDatabase"
$upaSAType = "User Profile Service Application"
    $syncDB = Get-SPDatabase | where-object {$_.Type -eq $syncDBType}
    $upa = Get-SPServiceApplication | where-object {$_.TypeName -eq $upaSAType}
    $syncDB.Unprovision()
    $syncDB.Status = "Offline"
    $upa.ResetSynchronizationMachine()
    $upa.ResetSynchronizationDatabase()
    $syncDB.Provision()
    restart-service SPTimerV4
This appears to have completely reset the syncronization database to the point where I don't even see tables and views any more in that database. That sounded good, but the "User Profile Synchronization Service" wont start and it doesn't appear to be able
to provision the database. I am trying to start the service using the farm account and I know the password is good...

  • Windows 2008 R2 Remote Desktop Services - user profile path not working

Trying to setup remote desktop profiles. We have 1 farm with 2 Windows 2008R2 RD session hosts and a broker server and want the all of the remote user  profiles to reside on a dedicated profile server. We've created the user shares but when a remote
user logs in their user profiles is automatically created on the session hosts. Each remote users profile path is specified in AD under the user's Remote Desktop Profile tab.
I've seen posts about creating a GPO to handle roaming profiles but I'm not sure as to where this needs to be created...should it be done on each of the session hosts? Are their any step by step instructions out there on how to achieve this that I just haven't
    found yet?
    bl

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Do you have RD Gateway setup in your environment?
Have you configure RD Connection Broker and set the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) of the RD Connection Broker server in case of RD Connection Broker mode. In RD Session mode, it is set to the FQDN of the RD Web Access server.
Client operating systems must trust the certificate with which the RemoteApp programs are signed. Suggest to install RDP 8.1 for client OS.
Do you have a trusted certificate with a matching name configured on your RDSH server in RD Session Host Configuration? (Means cert must match the name that clients use to connect to it for running the RemoteApp).
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

We have an OU that users on leave are located. These users would "fall out" of sharepoint when moved to this OU, so I went in the sync and ticked on that that OU to be synced as well.
When running a new sync after this change, it only syncs one user, although the OU has about 30 users there. Same result if I do a full sync or an incremental sync.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Double check that the user really is being synced. The most common issue is caused by user error when people think a user is being synced but is not.
Once you've validated that the user in the OU really is being updated in SharePoint you should check your synchronisation connection rules. Identify which filters you have set and check one of the non-importing users in the OU. Check each and every one of
those filters to try to identify which is causing them to be removed.
Finally you can also check the MIIS client which sometimes gives more information about why users are or are not being imported.

  • User Profiles Sync - Event Viewer Errors

While I'm not seeing any actual negative impact on the farm, I constantly get the following errors throughout the day (tied to syncs I believe) and would very much like to remedy them if possible:
    Error type: Critical
    Event ID: 5555
    Task Category: User Profiles
Failure trying to synch web application <GUID>, ContentDB <GUID> Exception message was System.Data.SqlException: Lock request time out period exceeded.
    Login failed for user '<Domain>\<User>'.
A severe error occurred on the current command.  The results, if any, should be discarded.
    Error type: Critical
    Event ID: 5555
    Task Category: User Profiles
Failure trying to synch web application <GUID>, ContentDB <GUID> Exception message was System.InvalidOperationException: Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object.
    Error type: Critical
    Event ID: 6398
    Task Category: Timer
The Execute method of job definition Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPSqmTimerJobDefinition (ID <GUID>) threw an exception. More information is included below.
Data is Null.  This method or property cannot be called on Null values.
    Error type: Critical

The Execute method of job definition Microsoft.Office.Server.Administration.UserProfileApplication+LanguageSynchronizationJob (ID <GUID>) threw an exception. More information is included below.
Lock request time out period exceeded.
    Login failed for user '<Domain>\<User>'
A sever error occurred on the current command.  The results, if any, should be discarded.
    Error type: Error
    Event ID: 5586
    Task Category: Database
Unknown SQL Exception 1222 occurred. Additional error information from SQL Server is included below.
Lock request time out period exceeded.
    Login failed for user '<Domain>\<User>'
A sever error occurred on the current command.  The results, if any, should be discarded.
Additionally, the following error appear on the Database side.
    Error type: Information
    Event ID: 18456
    Task Category: Logon
Login failed for user '<Domain>\<User>'. Reason: An exception was raised while revalidating the login on the connection. Check for previous errors. [CLIENT: <IP>]
    Error type: Error
    Event ID: 18056
    Task Category: Server
The client was unable to reuse a session with SPID <X>, which had been reset for connection pooling.  The failure ID is 29. This error may have been caused by an earlier operation failing. Check the logs for failed operation immediately before this
    error message.
I've tried to troubleshoot each of these errors independently hoping that it is one that is causing them all but so far nothing has worked.  The "Login failed" stood out to me the most but that account is the farm account and I've verified
the credentials and there are no other login failed type errors.  Again, the syncs themselves appear to be successful but these errors always occur.  Any help would be most appreciated.

And you did the last part also?
"Finally, and I’m not sure if this is necessary, but I read that you should change timer job “Timer Service Recycle” (Central Administration –> Job Definitions) to run at 06:30 PM.  This last step can be done through Central Administration.
After doing this my errors went away.  I did however need to run a full user profile synchronization by going to Central Administration –> Manage Profile Service: SharedServicesSearch_UserProfile –> Start Profile Synchronization"
Sounds like a good reason, that the timer job runs at the same time as the application pool recycles, thus causing the connection to abort. Then retrying the connection, but a different ID, causing a lock to happen.
Besides that, it can be hard to say, as setting up the User Profile service application using the Wizard, can do some strange things :/

  • User Profile email address not updated on Site Collection User Information

    Hi All,
Ok here we go....SharePoint 2007 with SSP profile sync not enabled, however I have a few profiles I need to update (email address).  This has been completed by editing the user profile in SSP, but when viewing the information via Site Collection >
People & Groups > User Information "Work E-mail" is still showing the old one.
All alerts are still being sent to the old email address, SSP DB UserProfile_Full shows the new email address as per SSP.
Anyone know where else user profile emails are stored which is used by Exchange?
    Many Thanks, Roger

As per the following post from GuYuming
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/319d5b0e-336a-4815-9ee5-5d1685db867f/how-to-send-sharepoint-alerts-to-users-on-different-domain?forum=sharepointadminlegacy
After the email address in SharePoint user profile is updated to [email protected], you have to wait until
they are synchronized into the user information list in SharePoint site collections so that alert can be sent to that address.
