Updaded AME, lost QuickTime support.

Only format options showing up are FLA, MPEG, and h264. Any idea what's going on?
I've tried some suggestions in other forums incl. editing the encoder loader txt file, but can't seem to get things to work.
AME is v 6.0.2.81. Any help appreciated!

Thanks Todd,
I already have FCP intstalled and the Quictime and Prores components from Apple. However, my version of AME CS5 only gives me the following options:
Format options are limited to  H.264 or FLV / F4V
Basic video settings limited to MainConcept H.264 Video
I suspect I need to upgrade to CS6 Version for more Format and Video settings options?
Thanks for your help.

    If QuickTime Player 7 isn't in the Utilities folder automatically, you can install it separately. See:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3678
    Instructions on how to register your QuickTime Pro key can be found in that same document.

    Mac OS X 10.6 includes QuickTime versions 10.0 and 7.6.3. The QuickTime 7 player will only be present if a QuickTime Pro key was present at the time of installation, or if specified as part of a custom install, or individually downloaded:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/dl923
    Snow Leopard update 10.6.4 included an update to 7.6.6 (if installed). You can install it from the above link  even though it says for 10.6.3. It's the same version of QuickTime Player 7.6.6.
    (Only QuickTime Player 7.6.3 or 7.6.6 can be updated to "Pro".)

    Does quicktime support flash video or flv format

    Not natively; it only works if Perian is installed, and then only in Mac OS X 10.8.5 or earlier.

  • No QuickTime support for playing video?

    I have an iPhone 3G and a iPhone 3GS, I might just have never noticed it before but I recently tried to play a .mov file on my server via an HTML file (that plays on my PC and Mac) through iPhone's Safari with no sucess. I find it rather interesting given the 3GS capability to record Video and the iPhone being able to play video from Itunes and Youtube that it doesn't seem to support Apple's native Quicktime format to play .mov files from the internet.
    Am I doing something wrong or missing something? I have 3.0 OS on both phones.

    The iPhone includes QuickTime support - you can watch videos via Apple's website and other websites with video provided via QT, but the video must be in the proper format for the iPhone. YouTube converted all YouTube video for the iPhone's YouTube app in QuickTime format or in a video format that is supported with the iPhone via QT.
    Copied from this link.
    http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html
    Video formats supported: H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; H.264 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Baseline Profile up to Level 3.0 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats

    You didn't answer probably the most important question: whether you're using hardware or software Mercury Playback Engine (MPE). However, since you've set Maximum Render Quality on, it's largely irrelevant.
    When you're using hardware MPE or have the MRQ flag set for your export, rendering is performed with linear color. Linear color processing affects how color channels and alpha channels are composited--anything less than 100% opacity is subject to linear color processing. Check out this article for more information on linear color/linear light: Linear Light - Artbeats
    Since it sounds like you're seeing the results you expect in the Program Monitor, but not export, I'll wager you're not using hardware MPE. Only by disabling the Maximum Render Quality flag on export will you be able to get results that match what you see in the Program Monitor (within reason, of course). The only way you could see the effects of linear color within Premiere would be to either use a qualified GPU that enables hardware MPE, or go into your Sequence Settings and check the "Maximum Render Quality" option and then render previews.
    Please let me know if that helps resolve the issue, or at least provide a little insight into the problem.

  • Does quicktime support mpeg files

    does quicktime support mpeg beacuse i downloaded despicable me 2 and opened it up and a messgae said that this file is not supported. HELP.

    Mavericks, Mountain Lion, and Lion with QuickTime Player do support some MPEG2 formats, e.g. m2v video only files. Some additional MPEG2 formats can also be played with the (paid for) Apple MPEG2 QuickTime Component and the old QuickTime Player 7.6.6 however this combination still cannot play properly MPEG2 with AC3 audio. As an example nearly all VOB files will not play properly with either of these two combinations.
    MPEGStreamClip with the paid for Apple MPEG2 QuickTime component can play all MPEG2 files properly as can VLC by itself, i.e. they can also properly play VOB files.
    You would have to be more specific about your MPEG files so we can judge what the issue is.
    Note also that some people call H.264 files MPEG files although it is a totally different format.
    A starting point would be to tell us what the file extension is, .VOB, .m2v, .mpg, .mov, .m4v, .ts, or something else. If you can also use one of the following utilities it should give you lots of information about what kind of video file it is.

    I upgraded to Loin and lost Quicktime. What is the fix?

    How did you manage to lose Quicktime?
    Quicktime Player should be in your Applications folder. If you had Quicktime Pro, then it should have been installed in your /Applications/Utilities folder as Quicktime Player 7.

  • Preferences Corrupt/Lost QuickTime Pro

    My /Library/Preferences/ folder recently became corrupt. I figured no big deal, I can simply recreate my networks etc. However, it seems I lost QuickTime Pro and I don't know how to get this back. I received QuickTime Pro as part of Final Cut Studio so I don't have a serial number. Help?
    I did not post this under Safari but some reason it decided to go there.

    Not sure if we can "move" threads just yet in the new community format but you can re post in the QuickTime forum here.

  • I lost .avi support on QuickTime

    I have asked for support in this issue before and I had it solved. I was told to download Perian which granted .avi support on my QuickTime version (the latest one: QT 10). I started watching an .avi movie and didn't finish it. Anyway, when I was about to continue I was informed that I needed QuickTime 7 to read it. Why did I lost all of a sudden the .avi support? And by the way how come an older version of QuickTime has more file extensions support capabilities?

    I see now that the issue is actualy the QuickTime 7 itself wich is quiting unexpectedly. Since it quits without even opening a movie I imagine that the program holds the problem. All I could do is send a report to apple. Feels like going through thoses Windows' issues all over again. Apparently this stuff happens in Mac too. There was this business about the DivX codec plug-in having failed. I actualy downloaded a Trial version of a DivX player wich had a 15-day term. But I don't get it. Even tough this term had passed what does it have to do with the .avi movie?. Anyway, I'd like to know what is the problem with the QT 7 first, maybe it's the only problem after all.

  • HT2376 How to download lost quicktime keys?

    HT2376 says how to go get the lost keys, but the pages have changed and I cannot find out where to go now to get my Quicktime keys.
    Anyone know where Apple moved the link to?

    No, Adobe doesn't retain legacy versions nor do they support them ad infinitum. You will have to find another source.

  • Will Quicktime support PPAPI? Does it already?

    Quicktime is blocked in Chrome, IE Explorer, and Firefox, but not yet in Safari. Can I count on this being true in the future?
    Let me explain my problem:
    I'm developing a website that will show literally hundreds of video clips of American Sign Language. The linguists who will access this site will not know the language, but will need to view each video clip carefully, which means they will need: (1) subtitles of each sign; and (2) the ability to cursor through the clip frame by frame. So far my solution to this has been Adobe PDFs with Quicktime clips embedded in them since Quicktime is the only interface that has provided these abilities. Until recently, the only small website I have on this so far, at www.vincentasl.info (which has mostly audio, but some video), has worked fine: click on a small icon, and a window showing the video would open. But now suddenly the videos don't play - doubtless a security issue since Adobe is deprecating anything but Flash, whose interface will not provide the capabilities I need.You can see how this is supposed to work by going to the link below and downloading the PDF there to your hard drive before opening it (or just maybe it will have no problem in Safari).
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/jcjxkdiqyj0cguf/ShortRapidHeadnods.pdf?dl=0
    Testing to see if switching to an HTML interface will solve my problem, I found that Quicktime is blocked in Chrome, IE Explorer, and Firefox. One can click a button to allow it, but that is unsatisfactory for two reasons: (1) It will be a real nuisance to users to have to do this again and again for every single clip; and (2) What I have learned so far about this seems to say that NPAPI capabilities will be totally removed from those browsers later.
    But hurrah! My clips work in Safari without so much as a complaint! Does this mean (a) that Apple has simply not decided to block it yet? Or (b) that they've solved the problem, and if I switch my whole developing system to HTML and tell my readers just to stick to Safari I'm out of the woods on this?
    Thanks for your help.

    Thanks for the links, but the first one appears to require Quicktime, and I thought the whole point was to try to use HTML5's built-in video player instead of a plug-in. The second one is encouraging to the degree that it tells us the problem is solved, but does not tell us what the solution is.
    Turning to why my results differ from what you would expect, in hopes of shedding light on the matter, here are the three versions I've tried:
    1. This code worked perfectly and immediately in Safari for the PC (version 5.1.7, which is the latest available), and perfectly in chrome and IE, although not immediately since one must pause to give permission:
    <html>
    <head>
    </head>
    <body>
    <embed src='124_1583 ix rock, ix get lotta moneyQ.mov' controller='true' height='350' width='460'
      target='quicktimeplayer'>
    </body>
    </html>
    2. This code (without the supposedly required end video end tag!) works immediately in Safari but imperfectly in that the only frame by frame capability is clicking within the progress bar at random locations. It does not work at all in Chrome or IE.
    <html>
    <head>
    </head>
    <body>
    <video width="460" height="350" controls
      <source src="124_1583 ix rock, ix get lotta moneyQ.mov" type="video/mov">
    </body>
    </html>
    3. This code (even though it has the supposedly required end tag - as per example code on the web) does not work at all in any of the browsers I've tested, including Safari.
    <html>
    <head>
    </head>
    <body>
    <video width="460" height="350" controls>
      <source src="124_1583 ix rock, ix get lotta moneyQ.mov" type="video/mov">
    Your browser does not support the video tag.
    </video>
    </body>
    </html>

  • Message for Itunes and quicktime support personnell...

    why won't you fix this bug?? your support personnel don't know wat is going on with these registry errors and quicktime. give us an email address or something so we can contact you! you have a serious error and this has been going on for too long... FIX IT!!!

    the registry error i am getting is simply this:
    Access is denied.
    that is it. nothing more nothing less.
    yes i am logged on under an administrator.
    yes i have tried it in safe mode.
    yes i have tried editing in in command prompt.
    i did find how to fix it though. find the registry files that will not let you look at them or delete them. right click it. choose advanced, or settings or watever. click the owner tab. put your name there. (it will be the only name there). only after you do that for every single directory and subdirectory entry, will you be able to completely wipe quicktime from your computer. then you use the standalone installer of quicktime v 7.0.3. that is the only currently known permanent fix for it. this is way too much trouble for apple to put 25% of the users that this affects through. a simple rechecking of the code is all thats nessasary, but this is a sign of a lazy programmer.
