Update 1.01 has caused numerous problems

I have read about people having problems individually, but I can't believe all that is wrong with my phone after updating my firmware last night.
The first thing is my AC charger no longer works. Makes no sense why it shouldn't. I have read about the issues with the AC bricks, but I am almost convinced it has something to do with the update.
None of the sounds work now, and the behavior of the iPhone when plugging in and removing the headset is erratic. Basically, no sound comes out of the speaker for anything, keyboard clicks, speakerphone, music without my headphones attached, etc.
Also, I can't hear anything from the receiver when making a call, so I have to use the headphones right now to be able to hear the other end of the conversation.
I have tried power cycling, rebooting, sticking the headphones in and removing them repeatedly, and whatever else was recommended in the other threads. I will try restoring when I get back from my trip (which unfortunately am leaving on today), but until then, what else can I do?

Now logically, if the update were responsible for the failures on your phone, everyone who updated would be having the same problem. These discussions would be stuffed with threads identical to yours, and there would be no-one saying the update fixed one thing or another, as there have been since it was released.
It is obviously not the update from which you are suffering.
That isn't to say you don't have a series of problems, but drawing the wrong conclusion can only lead you to approaching the process of fixing the issues the wrong way.
-Power adapter: first test that you can charge via USB to ensure the phone itself isn't faulty. If you can, take the adapter to an Apple store or call Apple. If you can't get it to charge via USB, take the iPhone to an Apple store or call Apple.
-Sounds: As said, plug and unplug the headphones a few times in rapid succession. Many who have reported the same issue have resolved it this way.
-If sick of trying the fixes and finding they don't work, take your phone to an Apple store or call Apple - in either case to report the problems and ask for assistance in resolving them. They will either help you fix them on the spot, or tell you the options for returning your phone for repair or replacement.

    First, empty the Trash if you haven't already done so.
    Use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
    Proceed further only if the problem hasn't been solved.
    ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
    Back up all data now.
    Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual.
    Triple-click the line of text below to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
    Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

    I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means.
    When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal.

  • Update 7.3.1 causing more problems than solutions?

    I'm not sure what the new update was meant to do but once I updated to 7.3.1, my transfer rate lowered drastically
    I used to have 4-6 MB/s originally before the update
    But on the same day, once I updated it and nothing else changed, it lowered to less than 1 MB/s

    Change your wireless channel, 9 or 3 are usually good. What kind of internet do you have, you may need it in bridged mode. Your issue is issolated to your network if you had two of them with issues because mine works fine and so do about 990,000 more. Hard reset the base station, use WPA2 encryption, channel 9, and disable both SNMP and configuration over WAN. All of these settings can be easily found within Manual setup if you play around a little... or just call AppleCare, the mac genious's are there to help to. See if it has the same problem in a different environment, I'd bet it has something to do with your settings, possibly a double nat.

  • Adding Selection menu has caused burning problems

    I'm using iMovie9 version 8.0.4 with iDVD version 7.0.4. I first burned a project with only the Play button. Was able to change the title (ie, used a different title in iDVD than the one used in iMovie) with no problem. However, after adding chapter markers and having a Scene Selection menu I find that if I change the title of the DVD (the Play button) it will spit out the blank DVD when I try to burn. If I allow it to keep the title imported with the iMovie project it will do a burn. Has anyone else experienced this? I don't see a way to change the title of the iMovie project to match the one I want to use in iDVD without creating a new iMovie project. I thought of doing that then...what? importing my existing project to the new one and renaming it? Is that possible? Don't want proceed any farther without getting some advice because I fear losing the project that I have put so much work into and having to start anew. Any suggestions?

    Ah. File/Save as Disc Image. Too easy. After waiting about an hour I fired up the MacBook and tried again. Burn went fine. So I guess the limit, at least on this computer, is two consecutive discs. However, back to my original problem of changing the title in iDVD so that it differs from the one in iMovie. At that particular juncture I hadn't tried to burn any discs. I simply opened iDVD, changed the title, (same project I had burned the day previously using the same title from iMovie) tried to burn and the disc was rejected. If no one else has had a problem with a burn after changing the title when there is a Scene Selection menu, then maybe it's something else. However, it burned OK after I changed the title in iMovie to match the one I wanted to use in iDVD then republished (had to make a few minor changes first in iMovie because it wouldn't allow me to publish the same movie again with only a title change). I really appreciate your help and will give you "Helpful" credit for your responses but can't mark this solved until I'm certain that there isn't some kind of eccentric incompatibility issue using iMovie9 version 8.0.4 with iDVD version 7.0.4 involving the title change. Many thanks to you and all the people who have been so helpful in the forum.

    Since doing the latest update my phone does the following
    loses signal constantly
    Cuts calls off
    I can call people and they can't hear me then on the next call its fine
    It won't connect to the Internet at times
    The battery dies within a few hours then other times its fine

    I can't offer any help I'm afraid but I'm also having problems. Now using 8.1.1.10 and I've found that iTunes will not burn CDs (it cancels the operation) and playback now jumps like a damaged record.

  • The latest update to CC has caused brush lag across all versions of Photoshop.  How can I fix this?

    Ever since this past week's update to CC, I have noticed a decrease in performance across all versions of Photoshop I have installed, CS6 and CC.  Many of the brushes I have, both in Photoshop's default and my own custom sets, lag horribly when drawing.  My system had not previously had this issue as far as I can tell.  Just to be safe, I have tested Photoshop on other builds, a macbook pro and a near top of the line PC.  The lag happens across all systems.  I've tried drawing with just the mouse and the Cintiq 12WX and the responsiveness is the same.
    For the sake of this case, here are the specs of my main work computer.  All drivers are up to date, as is the OS:
    Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 2.40 GHZ
    RAM: 8 GB
    Operating System: Windows 8 (64-bit)
    Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series
    Hard Drive: Samsung 830 256 GB Solid State (where my scratch drive is)
    Monitor: 2 X Dell U2410
    I have tried altering the OpenGL settings and disabling them altogether on all builds, including this one. There is no change in the lag of the brushes.
    For the sake of complete clarity, these are the specs of the near top of the line PC and the Macbook, which both had the same issues:

    I've also tried completely uninstalling and re-installing Photoshop CS5 and CC on my work computer, which still did not solve the issue.
    I am a freelance artist and this sudden lack of performance is putting a cramp in my deadlines and possibly in my income stream, if I cannot solve this issue quickly.  Please advise!

    I have some new info on the issueI thought I'd share with you.
    First of all, I've installed Photoshop CC on my SurfacePro (Windows 8) and do not have the lag issue there. It's very similar hardware to my MacBook Pro. So the issue must have something to do with my MacBook.
    After a lot of tinkering I discovered that it is my 27" Thunderbolt Display that is causing the brush lag. When I unplug it and only use my built in 13" screen the brush lag is gone. Aha!
    I tried every available option in the Performance section but nothing helped. Again, Photoshop CS5 with attached Thunderbolt Display doesn't have a brush lag issue.
    I'd be interested to know everyone else's setup who is experiencing this problem.

  • Update to Excel 2013 causing a problem with Sage 500 ERP import feature

    I work in an accounting office that relies heavily on importing data from Excel into Sage 500 ERP accounting software.  We recently began updating from Office 2007 to Office 2013.  Now we are running into a
    huge hurdle as we find Excel 2013 no longer supports MDI, and has moved exclusively to SDI.  This is a problem for us, and here's why.
    Sage 500 has a "Data Porter" command which launches Excel, but opens a blank workbook in Excel.  After triggering the Data Porter, we open a previously saved Excel workbook containing our data, select the "Add-Ins"
    tab, and click the appropriate button to begin the import.  In Excel 2007 this works because the workbook with the data opens in the same "window" as the blank workbook.
    In Excel 2013, the workbook containing the data can only be opened in it's own new window which has not established the line of communication with Sage 500's Data Porter, and the import function is not available.
    So far the only workaround we have found is to right-click on a tab in the file containing the data, click "Select All Sheets," then "Move or Copy" them to the new blank workbook.  The import into Sage 500 is successful when
    we do that.  However, we need to save the workbook with the updated import information returned by Sage 500, so we must also do a "Save As" for the new workbook, assigning the same file name as the original data file, overwriting
    it.  This makes what used to be a simple procedure quite cumbersome, and we fear the risk of data loss may be significant.
    Is there any way to make this process work the way it does in earlier versions of Excel that support MDI (Multiple Document Interface)?

  • Update 7.1.1 causes a problem?

    I recently accepted to have my iPod updated to the latest 7.1.1 version and now I can not turn my iPod off by holding down the play/pause button like I had been able to before. Please send suggestions on how to turn it off cause my battery is dying!

    I have had the same problem occasionally after upgrading. I have been rebooting using the Menu and center buttons; when it comes back, I can then use the Play/Pause button to turn it off.

  • AET's enhancement has caused a problem...

    A colleague added a new field via the AET, and managed to get it to activate with a green status. However, when we next wrnt in via the UI and error message saying ''Inconsistancy in structure for data dictionary object INCL_EEW_BUT000' is displayed.
    I had a look at this structure and can see that it's only partly activated. There's an error again the new field which has a check table. However, the field in the check table does not match the new field name, although it is of the same datatype.
    I think this might be were the problem lies and wondered if we should have used a search help to bring up a list of values when the new field is in the screen.
    Regardless of this, I wondered if anyone could confirm my method to rectify this issue. I can't use the AET as I can't get in via the UI. What I was planning on doing was to remove the offending field from the strucure and activate.
    Hopefully this will then let us back into the UI and allows us to clean up via the AET.
    Does anyone know of a better way?.

    That's more or less what I have done. The structure would not activate as there was a check table against the field and the foreign key did not match the Z field, and that's what caused the issue. I could not remove the check table I could only remove the field from the structure and activate, which was done.
    However, we can now get into the UI, but when we attempt to create a new field via the AET the screen has changed slightly in that we now have the decimals field being displayed, but  there is no longer a data element field. Before we could simply type CHAR4 in this field, but that's not being displayed any more.
    Has anyone seen this kind of problem before?.

    My partner downloaded and installed iOS 7.0.2 onto his iphone5, now if he double-clicks on the button to highlight all the apps running in the background, they do not have a subtract for him to close them, so he has limited battery life.   • Upgrade to Lion and then to Mountain has caused me problems

    After upgrading to Lion a year ago or so I developed a problem on my MB Pro that I'd never had before. (1) My Mail app starting acting funny. I'd compose an email then click send, but it would sit in the Outbox--for hours, even days. I had to login to MobileMe to send mail and to get Mail. And (2),  my system would frequently crash. If I left 3-4 apps open and then went and had lunch, for example, when I came back, my system had crashed. The screen was blanked out, and I had to move the mouse, kind of use it like an eraser to erase a part of the crap in the foreground of the screen so that I could see my login, after which I would enter my password and then login. After login in I would find that all of my apps had either crased or were frozen. I thought it might be that I needed to upgrade my Memory, so I upgrade from 4 GB to 8 GB, but this didn't do any good.
    So...after Mountain Lion came out, I upgraded, hoping by some miracle this might solve the problem. But no, the problem persisted. I had AppleCare and so I called Apple three times about this problem, but they couldn't solve it either, although one senion tech adviser did manage to get my Mail app working again. He went to some folder (I wish I'd noted what this folder was at the time but I didn't), found there was sever gobbly-gook or junk files inside it, and then proceeded to delete them. After this my Mail app worked OK but the other problem persisted.
    A week ago I backed up everything on my MB Pro to my Time Machine BU, bought a new Mac Mini, and then used Migration Assistant to import all my data from the  Time Machine BU. I was hoping for a miracle--i.e., hoping that this problem would disappear. But not only has the problem not disappeared, I now can't even use my Mail app on the new Mac Mini. It is completely disabled...plus I still get the random crashes. I am getting by using my old MB Pro. I've transfered back to my MB Pro my essential files and I am using it while I try to figure out what in the **** is going on with the original data on my Mac Mini.
    Any ideas would be much appreciated.

    Install or Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion from Scratch
    Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
    Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the left side list. Click on
          the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on the Security button and set the Zero
            Data option to one-pass. Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
    Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
    Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

    Whenever, i click on My Computer on my laptop it opens up fine , but after closing My Computer, i get the message "Windows Explorer has stopped working" and it asks me to try to fix the issue by searching online.
    When i click on the details i get the below message :

    This started 2 days back  suddenly . I am able to browse and do other things, this issue occurs only when i click on My Computer from my Desktop or go to Start-->Computer, either of the two. Can anyone tell me how to fix this issue?

  • Iphoto upgrader has caused a problem, iPhoto will no longer open its library

    I had an old dvd of iphoto pictures which I wanted to bring into my current version of iphoto, I downloaded the iphoto upgrader and did as the instructions indicated but it seemed like I was in a loop, when I selected the library from the saved photos, the imac would indicate that I had to download the uopgrader (which I had, this is were it kept looping)  So after several attempts I gave up, but when I treid to open my existing iphoto it came back with the same mesage saying
    To open your library with this version of iphoto, it first needs to be prepared.
    to prepare the library, use the iphoto library upgrader avaialble from Apple
    So now it seems I cant access my existing iphotos ( I cant even tell you what version of iphoto I have as I cannot look at the "About iphoto" as it is greyed out)  My imac is 2 years old.
    Any help would be appreciated as I seem to have gotten myself into a hole and have no idea how I got there and more importantly how to get out.

    With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a potential solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
    what version of iPhoto are you using?
    what system version are you running?
    what do you get when you launch iPhoto?
    what fixes have you tried?
    where is your library located?
    did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
    are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
    what type of Mac?
    how much free space on your boot drive?
