Update 1.1.4 - Timed out

I've tried for several nights now to download and install the new 1.1.4 update, but every time I get a message stating that the network connection timed out. My Internet connection is working fine for browsing the Internet (IE 7.0). I've downloaded and installed previous updates just fine. I'm using WIndows XP. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it on my husband's computer - hooked to the same network - and it hung as it was downloading the iTunes software. I hit the reset button on my cable modem and then it worked just fine. Thanks again for getting me going in the right direction.

No other way. Disable ALL security software (firewall, antivirus, etc.) running on your PC when updating.

Can not open my msn mail since I updated Firefox, get connection timed out error

Since we updated our Firefox to the last version I have not been able to open my email at msn/live.com We have 3 computers networked and it will not open on any of them. However, my husbands account [email protected] opens. I can open it on my home computer but not at our office and it is our office email. Can you help? I've cleared the cache through the tools/options/etc. It will not open on IE either.

You can check:

You can open the about:config page via the location bar and do a search for bing via the Filter at the top of that page. 
You can reset all related prefs via the right-click context menu to their default values.

While downloading my updates, it tries to update for 63 minutes and then says it couldn't update because it was timed out. I have tried at three times. any suggestions?

Try disabling a/v software and turning off the Firewall.
Disable antivirus software

I have a quick wifi connection (Mac shows it as about 35 megabits) but I couldn't get the 5.0.1 OTA to work, I had to do it via cable to my computer's iTunes - and as I was already on iOS 5 it was only a small download, basically the same size as the OTA size.
As the original poster is talking about a 730 meg download then I assume that they are still on iOS 4.3.5 or below and can therefore only download via their computer's iTunes - you need to be on iOS 5+ before you get the OTA option.

When i try to update my iphone with the new software, it will give me a message that says connection time timed out, and then it says some other little things about a network not having a connection. i checked all of that and it is all fine. I am trying to update the iPhone 3GS to IOS5. At download i get an error - network timed out. Repeated tried several times. Is there an issue with the Apple Update Server or too much rush ? How do i update my phone using iTunes?

I am using iPhone 3GS. It is currently updated to IOS4.3. I am trying to update the OS to IOS5 on iTunes. It downloads the software, but it gives an error - network timed out. I have tried this multiple times. But, the end result is same.
Please help & advise as how I can upgrade the iPhone to IOS5.

Try a direct download:
