Update 1: Metro Apps Multi-Monitor issue

Hi,
Not sure if anyone else gets this or has a solution. I have my Tablet in front of me in a docking station with my external monitor behind and above it. I have it set so that I can move between them vertically and this has been running fine through 8 and
8.1. Now I have 8.1 Update with the new "Mouse" control of metro apps. If I open a Metro app on the tablet screen and then try and move the mouse up to my external monitor I get trapped by the new "Close" bar that shows up.
What was once a seamless transition between screens has become a fight to get to the top screen. If I have side-by-side transitioning then it is not a problem, however it is not intuitive to work like that when the monitors are one on top of the other.

Hi,
It seems you have trouble when you move screen over multiple monitors, it is caused by the title bar of Windows Store Apps?
As far as I know, It is currently not possible to disable this behavior. But I would record this feedback, thanks for your report.

  • Multi monitor issues with resolution(?)

At a customer I have got a really strange and annoying problem. The customer has got a Hyper-V VM with 2012 R2 Server as a RDS server aka Terminal Server.
One user has got issues with his multi monitor setup. The connection settings seems to be OK. It is set to full screen and the checkbox for the multi monitor configuration is enabled. Theoretically this works because the user sees a correct setup with one
primary display and one secondary display. The settings itself are correct.
    1. Primary display: 1680*1050
    2. Secondary display: 27" 1920*1080
The display settings on the client are nearly the same except that the numbers of the two monitors are different (those numbers you get when you click identify at the resolution change window). On the Windows 7 client the primary display
number 2 and the 27" has got the number 1. On the Terminal Server the primary display has got the number 1 and the 27" display has got the number 2. But the corresponding resolution at the display number is correct.
Now the problem. Everything seems fine, the desktop is expended. But when the user is "touching" the top or bottom edge of the screen the display is scrolling (in full screen) -  like in a 3D game scrolling over a map. The user told me that
both screens are scrolling equally at the same time. I am not sure but the user told me that if he is going to the bottom the CLIENT task bar appears. Changing the task bar of the client to fixed the user told me that the task bar will always show up. - Strange
that CTRL + ALT + BREAK does not work.
I tried to press CTRL + ALT + BREAK twice, changing the resolution to a fixed value and back to full screen again, changing the primary display to the new 27" monitor, adding smart sizing:i:1 to rdp file and upgrading the Intel HD
4600 laptop graphic drivers (must be downloaded from Lenovo :/). NOTHING helped :(.
But this strange behavior does not exist on the client. Opening two programs (simple notepad e.g.) on each display and maximize them and moving the mouse the screen borders won't show this problem. It only exist on the remote session.
Now the "funny" part. If I connect with Team Viewer to the client the problem disappears as long as I am connected. If I disconnect the problem shows up again.

    Hi,
This is most likely a problem with the local machine's graphics driver and monitor configuration.  I would suggest trying different things like removing and re-installing the display adapter and its drivers, removing the second monitor/restarting/adding
the second monitor back, adjusting the multi-monitor settings in display properties (changing between extending the desktop to the second monitor and not), undocking/restarting/docking, changing between different modes using Fn key on laptop (if laptop), etc.
The behavior under Team Viewer is likely because the graphics configuration is different when the driver is active.
I wish I could give you more precise instructions on how to resolve the issue.  I have seen this behavior (panning desktop, multi-monitor config not exactly right) probably 3 times over the last 5 years, always with a laptop, and I had to "play"
with the settings before it finally went back to normal.  The instances I have seen it occur did not involve Remote Desktop specifically.

  • CS4 Multi-Monitor Issue

    Hello,
I have been pulling my hair out all day with CS4 Production Suite. Photoshop, Premiere, etc. would max out the CPU at 100% while loading and literally take about 5 minutes to even start up on a Dual-Core 4GB RAM Latitude 830 running Vista.
Turns out the problem is a dual monitor / display driver issue (that I'm sure many other people will eventually have).
On my laptop itself, I have NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M video card in which I am running my main laptop monitor along with a docked monitor. Then, I have a second video card installed in my docking station that runs 2 more monitors (totaling 4) - an NVIDIA GeForce 6200. If I disable the 6200 driver, everything runs extrmely smooth. If I re-enable the driver, everything goes into crash mode (as far as CS4 is concerned). I have all the most updated drivers (and I have even tried downgrading some of the drivers to make sure that didn't fix it) -- no luck. I have also tried playing with the GPU setting in the Performance options of Photoshop -- no luck.
All of the other programs on my machine run without any problem; I have been running this config for quite some time now.
Adobe, if you could figure out the issue, it would be greatly appreciated. I would much prefer to run 2 video cards than one. (Oh - one more thing... everything works COMPLETELY fine with CS3. This is a CS4 issue.)
    Thank you.
    Sincerely,
    Ray

Ray, it will do a lot more good if you file an official bug report at http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
Be sure to describe the configuration in extreme detail.

  • Multi-monitor issue with CS4?

Hi; I'm running a Mac with the following specs:
    3 x 30" ACD
    MacPro 2,8 Ghz Quad
2x ATI Radon 2600 XT graphics cards (2 screens attached to 1 card; 1 screen to the other card)
I've encountered after the switch from CS3 to CS4 the following issue:
Whenever I try to use the new Bridge Review function using one of the the screens sharing one graphics card I just get a grey screen.
If I move the bridge window to the solely attached screen it works.
Is that an issue of CS4 or is just the throughput of the second graCard providing 2 monitors not sufficient.
    Thanks t.

    T,
There are known issues with using more than one graphics card which Apple has not truly resolved.  You may want to browse some of the threads in the Adobe Photoshop Macintosh forum.
In addition, you should know that Photoshop and Bridge cannot really take advantage of more than one graphic card.

This bit of information in relation to GPU and OpenGL features and
limitations in Photoshop CS4 had totally escaped me until now. Though
it doesn't affect my setup, it might be of interest to others who may
    have missed it too.
    Excerpt from
    http://www.adobe.com/go/kb404898
    Q. Does Photoshop take advantage of dual-GPU display cards?
    A. Not at this time.
    Q. Why can't Photoshop take advantage of more than one display card?
    A. When you move an image window between two monitors that are
each on a separate display card, the GPU attached to the second monitor
does not have access to the data necessary to accelerate drawing. The
SLI and Crossfire technologies that use more than one GPU to speed up
full-screen games will not work with Photoshop, because their use is
limited by design to accelerate only full-screen games.

  • Xorg.conf - Multi Monitor Issue

I have read that using nvidia-settings to configure X does not work very well. After trying it myself and being unable to get it to work proprly, I've tried my hand at writing my xorg.conf from scratch using the info on the wiki. I'm having issues and wonder if anyone could assist with telling me how i'm supposed to define the screen properly to SererLayout.

    Right is 1600x1200+0+0, "CRT-1"
I'm not sure if I should be using twin view or not but I do not need Xinerama. Can anyone please advise on how I should proceed?

I cannot seem to get this working with nvidia properly set within xorg.conf... funny thing is I can run the xrandr script upon login and it resets my screens perfectly, though it feels like i'm cheating this way.
xrandr --output VGA-0 --mode 1600x1200 --pos 1680x0 --rotate normal --output DVI-I-1 --mode 1680x1050 --pos 0x150 --rotate normal --output DVI-I-0 --off --output HDMI-0 --off
Sometimes your window manager can do this for you.  Or a utility such as arandr.  Nothing wrong with this method.  You could shorten it to
    xrandr --output VGA-0 --auto --output DVI-I-1 --auto --right-of/--left-of <whichever>
Under the Monitor section you would try:
Name the monitors the way X calls them (here DFP-0 and CRT-1) or check the Xorg.0.log file to show what it does with them.
Then under one of the monitor sections, you could add
    Option "RightOf"/"LeftOf" "<other monitor>"

  • 4.1 Update. Freezing apps and Other issues

This 4.1 has given me nothing but trouble on my 3GS. Apps constantly
Freeze and crash. I use a stereo cable in my Mazda to play music and
All it does is skip to end of song then back to middle and play random
Parts of songs then it skips to another song. Also voice control appears out
Of nowhere without me touching the phone.
    HELLLLLLLLLPPPP !!!!!!!!!!

I am also experiencing app freezes, especially with the New York Times app which no longer seems capable of getting through a reading session without two freezes.
But I also having a lot of app that just quit without warning.
I hope this is something that is on the To-Do list for iOS 4.2

  • Maverick Multi-monitor no more stretching apps across screens?

Who makes decisions over there? What logical person would say "Hey let's add a second menu bar for added functionality, but get rid of app stretching across displays".
I mean honestly, this is ridiculous. I wish my company would just switch to Ubuntu Gnome 13.10 like I did on my personal machine.

In certain circumstances, the cursor will get "caught" between screen edges, as if the metro app-switcher or charms bar were open.
That's not a bug.  It's a feature.  Unfortunately there is no GUI support for it.  And evidently there needs to be a training dialog, in the same way that there is one for Flicks.  Search for  "Escape Velocity"...

  • Adobe Reader 9.3 Update, DELL Monitor Issue, Comes up as Mobile PC

    Hi Folks,
I have currently discovered a bug in the Adobe Reader 9.3 Update released on 1/12/2010 where in a multi-monitor environment one of the monitors or sometimes multiple monitors come up as a Moblie Display.
I have seen this happen when the update is applied on a Windows 7 64bit box with Quad or Dual Monitor set-up. Using Dell p2210t Monitors and Nvidia Quado NVS Cards (all models) not sure if this is only happening on other OS's with the same set-up but that's what we've seen. I have since stopped running the upgrade or roll it back on affected machines.
I wonder if ADOBE knows of the issue and has an update for it.

Use the forum for Adobe Reader.

  • HT201303 when I try to do updates in the app store it keeps asking for my credit card info and telling me that my "security code is invalid".  it obviously isn't.  how can I fix this issue?

I have 3 Iphone 4's.   One of them updates from the App Store with no issues.  My other two which are under the same AppleID will not let me do updates.  when I try it asks for my Credit card info then after i enter it it says "security code invalid".   Has anyone else had this issue and how have you fixed it?
    thank you

    Leigh...
but cannot do this because I cannot access Mac App Store
If you can't access the App Store from the Apple menu, Dock, or Applications folder installing the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo will reinstall the App Store for you.
It's ok to do this even you are already running v10.6.8.

  • New software update still not downloading.  Apps updates have all downloaded since iTunes issue resolved.  Is the software issue also related to this, or is there another problem?  This is on my iPhone 6, not my Mac.

Trying to download the iOS 8.2 software update on my iPhone 6, but it won't update.  All app updates have resolved since the iTunes issue was resolved.  Is the software update issue related to this as well, or is it another problem entirely?
I've synced it to iTunes, turned it off/on, etc., but still not downloading.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi DebC64,
So is the iOS 8.2 update not downloading to your iPhone, computer or both?
You have synced it to iTunes, that is an option to update if it's not updating wirelessly.  Please see if other steps help.

  • Update 1 - Cannot close Metro App and Stay in Metro UI

I installed Win 8.1 Update 1 that became available to TechNet subscribers yesterday on my Lenovo non-touchscreen laptop.
Whereas before I could go to the Metro UI start a metro program, then suspend it by dragging the window to the bottom of the screen, and then I would return to the Metro UI
    start screen.
Now if I go to Metro, run a metro app, then close the app, I get kicked back to the traditional desktop.
The behavior before Update 1 was such that I could stay in Metro after closing a Metro app.   Now no matter what I do, including unchecking the "when I sign
in or close all apps on a screen, go to the desktop instead of start" in the taskbar properties, I get kicked back to the desktop.
Unless this is a bug, I suppose now this is a new "feature" for Win 8.1 update 1.

    Hey charlestek,
My name is Miron Vranjes and I’m a Senior Program Manager on the Windows team. I worked on a number of features in Windows 8.1 Update, including the new title bar and the specific behavior you talk about in this thread.
First, thanks for writing your thoughts on what you’re seeing in the update. As far as the settings, it is the intended design and Kate’s earlier post does correctly outline the behavior. That said, I’d like to clarify how they work to address the confusion.
In Windows 8.1, we introduced the “When I sign in or close all apps on a screen, go to the desktop instead of Start" setting as a way for users to control their “home base” (the place they end up navigating to when they’re not running any Windows Store
apps)—Start or the desktop. With Windows 8.1 Update, we’ve made this the default setting for primarily mouse and keyboard devices.
As we designed Windows 8.1 Update, we wanted to introduce a number of changes for mouse and keyboard users that would help them use and switch between Windows Store apps alongside their familiar desktop applications. A lot of these changes only made sense
when combined together, so they are toggled by one setting, which is “Show Windows Store apps on the taskbar.” This is usually enabled together with the first setting as a complimentary set of improvements for desktop users. When the setting is enabled, Windows
Store apps are intended to feel more like regular maximized applications living on the desktop, though they are full screen only. For example, when you launch apps from Start, they appear on the taskbar until they are closed. You can also minimize them or
switch between them by invoking the taskbar. Finally, as you can see in the table Kate showed, Windows Store apps can occlude the desktop and also each other! This may not be apparent at first but you can see it if you open up Bing Weather and then launch
the Mail app, for example. Closing (or minimizing) Mail won’t navigate to the desktop, it’ll reveal Bing Weather. If you then close Bing Weather, it’ll reveal the desktop. The intention is that this behavior (even the animations) is similar to launching and
then closing two maximized applications on the desktop.
Ultimately this is the reason that unchecking the “When I sign in or close all apps on a screen, go to the desktop instead of Start" setting has no effect on close and minimize behavior when the “Show Windows Store apps on the taskbar” setting is checked,
since they are controlling two independent things. If you tend to use only one Windows Store app at a given time, it may seem like we’re not respecting the setting by going to the desktop, which I can understand could be confusing.
You also brought up that unchecking “Show Windows Store apps on the taskbar” doesn’t unpin anything (including the Windows Store) from the taskbar. The main reason for this is that we didn’t want the setting to be destructive. For example, if you’ve pinned
the Mail and Bing Weather apps to the taskbar, we wouldn’t want to unpin them unexpectedly when you toggle the setting.
We’ll definitely evaluate the wording and behavior of these settings in the future and see what we can do to make things clearer and improve the experience overall.
Thanks so much for your thoughts,
    Miron

  • Multi-monitor application switching bug in Windows 8.1

In the latest 8.1 update, we got some better features here and there, but using metro apps seem to break multi-monitor setups.
In certain circumstances, the cursor will get "caught" between screen edges, as if the metro app-switcher or charms bar were open.
There's no one way to reproduce this bug, sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't, but it usually starts to happen when switching from a metro app to the desktop on the main display via the top-left hotcorner.
This may also happen in many other circumstances involving metro apps or the hotcorners or anything like that. I have not had a problem involving the start screen so far. Getting rid of it (temporarily) is just as finicky as reproducing the issue. I really
have no idea what makes it go away, but switching back and forth between apps using different methods (hotcorners, taskbar, metro minimize/close buttons) seems to get rid of it until you interact with apps again.
I have an AMD r9 280x and 2 1080p displays. I am not using eyefinity. I am running Win 8.1 Pro updated to the latest 8.1 update where there are metro apps on the taskbar.
Needless to say, this is very annoying. If I can't smoothly move my mouse cursor between screens, it really interferes with a dual/multi screen setup. With all the people with multiple screens, I'd expect more people to have run across this problem, so if
you need more information to identify whether this is a software/OS issue, let me know.
