Update 10.6.4 Conflicts

My partner updated his iMac with today's update and now iTunes will not open and causes his computer to freeze entirely. After the first effort to open iTunes, we used the disk utility to repair permissions. After the 2nd attempt to open failed, we used his Time Machine backup to go back to before the update and tried iTunes again with no success.
Any ideas as to what could be causing the conflict. He does have an iPhone and already downloaded latest Safari 5.0?
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
We have iMac's with 20 inch screen and was current with all updates.
Thanks.

The same thing happened to me, i just downloaded all the combo updates no luck (wasted a good 4GB). What i did i was downloaded iTunes and Safari again individually install them and it worked like a charm.
Hope this helps

  • Auscompgeek: latest Firefox update has caused a conflict with Norton 360

Latest Firefox update has caused a conflict with Norton 360 "Web Safe" feature when using Yahoo search - no icons visible, i.e., green check mark for OK, gray for not enough info in Norton user data base, RED for unsafe
"Web Safe" feature functions in Firefox if Norton tool bar search is used (powered by ASK) - functions in IE8 when Yahoo search is used.
Problem is isolated to Firefox / Yahoo search.

  • Mac Pro and Mac OS Update 10.5.2 Conflict!

I have re-installed Leopard three time already because of a conflict with my Mac Pro and apple's combined OS update for 10.5.2. After installing the update, my computer becomes unstable and eventually stops starting up properly, forcing me to partition and format the drive for a clean installation.
As a result, I am staying away from 10.5.2 and hope that future OS updates do not include such problems.
Just posting to warn others and see if anyone else had this problem. Take care!

I can't tell you have many times I've installed 10.5.2, except to say never had a problem but almost any type of conflict could occur with 3rd party hardware, software, AFP, routers or whatnot.
I would subscribe to checking news sites daily as they have collect reports, offer tips based on feedback, and see if any of it fits your situation (or "can of worms" I guess).
MacIntouch, MacFixit, Xlr8yourmac.com all have article.
Forums such as Mac OS X Leopard on Apple tend to have a number of threads, but the majority do seem to escape unscathed. So seems like every time you try, you do the same thing, get the same results. Adjust your game plan.

  • Online Update edirectory 888 patch conflicts

Saw yesterday that Novell released patches for eDirectory 8.8.8 for OES 11.2. On my Groupwise 2012 server, I am getting a conflict error when running Online Updates.
    patch:oes11sp2-edirectory-888-patch2-hot-patch-9407.noarch conflicts with novell-NLDAPbase.x86_64 < 8.8.8.2-0.7.1 provided by novell-NLDAPbse-8.8.8.1-0.5.13.x86_64
It gives me 3 choices for Conflict Resolution. I can deinstall, replace, or not install the patch. I believe I would want to do replace, but I do not want to cripple my server either.
    Please help guide me, Obi-Wan!

Good point. That's the problem I was remembering, but yeah, this one does
    look like a different package.
I'm asking backline support what should be done here. Hang on ...

  • Updates to stop browser conflicts

I have just completed a new redesign of a site LockSmart 24hr locksmith - everything was fine till firefox released a new version and now my text and some images do not align - i know this is a age old theme but is there no way to be able to install updates for DW to overide this problem - or am i doing something wrong???

If I hadn't seen David's warning, I would have jumped out of my seat and also woken the whole household when loading your page  (it's nearly mid-night here).  A warning should be given if there is auto start video on any site you link to  :-)
I didn't see any problems viewing the entry page using Firefox 3.0.12.  However, there are quite a few validation errors on the page that need to be corrected.
Viewing the Home Smart page, I did see in the opening paragraph, a line of text superimposed upon another line... again lots of validation errors that need correcting.
    http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.locksmart-uk.com%2Fhomesmart. html
A lot of these errors can be fixed immediately by changing the doctype to a less strict one.  Easily done by:
File Menu>Convert>HTML 4.01 Transitional  (or even the XHTML Transitional if you prefer).
Using a Strict doctype means that you have to work extra hard to ensure that you have no syntax errors and that the content is separated from the styling of the page  (that is - no inline or deprecated styles alllowed).
Fix those issues and then check where the pages stand.

I would be very nice if I could get a hint on how to get rid of these directories. The firmware directory has  a AUR package, a driver for webcam.I don't know what to do about udev. Before upgrading glibc I issued the "pacman -Sd " command with all the packages as arguments. As a result pacman stopped working because curl was updated.I downgraded curl package from the cache.Pacman is now running but Iam not able to update the glibc finally to end this process.
    Thank you.

Is there a reason you can't remove the r5u87x-hg and udev-compat packages? I see the former is in the AUR but nothing about the latter. If that's all that's stopping you from upgrading, I'd suggest removing them, although I'm not sure what this udev-compat package is and whether it's important for some functionality specific to your setup.

  • Experimented: iPS with latest update "conflicts" with Intel Mac mini

    Hello everyone.
Please see my earlier post first as "background story":
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=602573
So I have 2 1Gb iPod Shuffles, one mine, one my sister's. My sister's, the 1st time I plugged into her new Intel Mac mini, it asked for an iPod Update, I clicked "Yes" and proceeded with the update.
After that, I set the iPS with Disk Mode, it appears on the Desktop, when I launched or inside iTunes, once I hit the "Autofill" button, the shuffle unmount and disappear from the desktop immediately, leaving behind a 'warning message' with red exclamation mark, the same when you pull out a thumb drive or turn off an external drive, without unmounting them first.
My own shuffle, I did not apply the latest iPod Updater
When I bring the 2 iPS to my own iMac G5, both with same settings (Disk Mode etc) mounts perfectly on the Desktop, inside iTunes, I can 'Autofill' BOTH shuffles.
When I plug my non-updated shuffle into my sis's Intel Mac mini, it mounts nicely, and when hit with Autofill, it does so nicely without "self-unmounting" at all.
So in the end? I swap my shuffle with my sis, and make sure she never ever update the shuffle, at least for the time being.
So what does this show?? That the iPod shuffle with the latest update may have a conflict of instability with Intel-based Macs??
    Thanks and cheers

    Hi Howwow,
To add a detail: my updated Shuffle works like a charm on my old iBook and not on my new Intel MacBook. So I am convinced it is in the Shuffle/Intel combination. I did try undoing the update on the shuffle (reverting back to 2005-11-17), but that made no difference on my Intel MacBook.

  • ORA-01403 No Data Found error on Update

I am having difficulty troubleshooting a form (6i) where the data can not be updated. This form was recently modified by another developer (who is no longer w/ us) and we removed a unique key from the items list in the data block, however the particular field is still contained in the table. There are no constraints on any fields in this table.
I have a button pallette in the form and when I try to update and save, I get the "No Data Found" error message. However, I know there is data in the record but I can not figure out why the error.
When I display the error, the sql code looks something like this:
    UPDATE db.temp
    SET P_ID=:1,S_ID=:2
    WHERE ROWID=:3
I put a message in the do_key('list_values') trigger to show me the rowid but nothing comes up. I wonder if this has something to do with that and if so, why and how do I fix it?
Appreciate any direction any of you can provide in coming to a solution on this. Thank you.

    I don't explicitly say ROWID=:3, what I mean, I
didn't code the update query. My understanding is
that it is done behind the scenes given the items in
the data block. Ok, I couldn't tell from the post whether it was explicit or not. This is from
    Oracle FAQ:
"I get 'NO DATA FOUND' errors. How does one handle this?
An ORA-1403 (No Data Found) error is signalled within a replicated environment when there is a conflict in data. Here is an illustration of what happens in most scenarios featuring this error:
Let's say we need to update a table and set column x=1 where x=9. When the first change occurs on the source database, Oracle checks to ensure that x=9. Once this transaction commits, it is queued for execution on the destination site(s). When the transaction is applied to the destinations, Oracle first check to verify that x=9 (the old value); if it does, then Oracle applies the update (update table set x = 1 where x = 9); if it does not, an entry to the DEFERROR table is logged indicating ORA-1403.
If the application is updating primary key values, one can also expect plenty "NO DATA FOUND" errors. Primary keys should NEVER be updated. If one updates primary key values, conflict resolution also becomes extremely difficult. "
Check your pll file and anywhere else you are using db.temp. Then check the the update using PLSQL.

First, Oracle Client 10.2.0.3 installed successfull. I want upgrade from Oracle Client 10.2.0.3 to Oracle Client 10.2.0.5.

I think Werzi2001 needs to read this news :
    https://www.archlinux.org/news/transiti … -and-qt-5/
he probably doesn't know the news about the decision to mix KF5 applications and KDE4
if you want to use the KF5 version of these  applications ( kate, baloo etc... ) simply answer "Yes" to all questions
check this thread for more information :

  • CS3 Install Updates "Interpret Footage" Problem

Once I install the CS3 3.2.0 update all my previously imported graphics change their interpritation to HD Animorphic 1080 (1.333).
So when I open existing projects I have to hunt and peck to re interpret all the imported graphics back to square pixels. Any ideas?
Thanks so much - David Joslin

Thank for the reply. I can do that for some projects. But some have so many different Interpolations that it makes that time prohibitive. So I thought I would search for an more permanent answer. But if you have never heard of this problem with that update it sounds like the update may be in conflict with a local setting on my computer. I thought that maybe there was a preference I was missing that set the interpret setting application wide.
Was the 3.2.0 update generally received without issues such as this?
    Thanks - David

Hmmm, to be honest I haven't tried this but if you open your project and select everything in your project panel and then Interpret footage...does that work ? Maybe test on a small project to see if it works OK....?

  • Trying to set up Directv GenieGO using Airport Extreme.  Getting error message: DHCP range entered conflicts with the WAN IP Address of your base station.  How do I resolve the conflict.

Trying to configure an Airport Extreme manually.  After I enter the IP Address of the GenieGo along with the rest of information required I am getting the following error message when I click update:
DHCP range entered conflicts with the WAN IP address of your base station.
How do I resolve the conflict?

You cannot use the same range on LAN and WAN if you are routing.. it must be different.. and you should not be routing at all.
The AE should be in bridge mode. NO DHCP settings at all.

  • PSU update patch link

    Hi,
While applying psu 11.1.0.7.2 on 11.1.0.7.1 i got this,
Following patches have conflicts. Please contact Oracle Support and get the merged patch of the patches :
    8199107, 8833297, 7639602, 7111245, 7295298, 6972189
Do i raise SR requesting these patches. Or is there any direct link to get the merged patch of these.
    Thanks,
    Taher

    Hi Taher
    I just discovered another Metalink note which indicates that some patch conflicts can be ignored;
"Patch Set Updates - One-off Patch Conflict Resolution [ID 1061295.1]"
If this all gets too confusing then the best is to log an SR with a list of conflicts and let Oracle advise you further.
    Regarding your new questions.
Q1). How can i confirm, i have 11.1.0.7.1. if i check the opatch lsinventory for 11.1.0.7.1 patch, it is showing in the list.
    A1) It seems like this is a known problem. There is a discussion of this problem here;
    http://jhdba.wordpress.com/2010/01/27/identifying-applied-psu-patches/#more-520
    Apparently you can use this command (but not with 100% success);
    SELECT * FROM registry$history;
You can also have a look at this note "How to confirm that a Critical Patch Update (CPU) has been installed in Linux / UNIX [ID 821263.1]".
This note says "To implement the CPU installation into each database associated to the ORACLE_HOME, the Post Installation steps must be executed as documented in the CPU README". So extra steps are required during the application of the CPU to update the registry$history.
    Q2). In the document
Preparation Guidelines for an E-Business Suite Release 12.1.1 Upgrade [ID 761570.1]
Path E -> Section B, i have applied all the patches upto 8199107. All the patches afer this are for 11.1.0.7.0
But as i am in 11.1.0.7.1, can i still apply the remaining patches which are
    8639653
    8940108
    9026927
    9066130
    9554727
    9743057
A2). To be honest I am not sure what the answer to this question is. Maybe one of the other experts can answer this question.
Does opatch indicate if these patches are currently missing?
I would check with Oracle about this.
    Regards
    Frank
