I have a macbook pro with OSX Mavericks 10.9.5 and some keys randomly are not working. Specifically, the enter/return button, the "p", "0", ";", and all the function keys. What's really weird is that happens randomly. I've never spilled anything on it, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to fix this. I don't know if this will help someone but I am posting this for that purpose. In the past when I first had this problem, I'd read a post somewhere (sorry, long ago, don't have the link) where an individual was having the same problem and they stated that when the MBP got heated, that's when the keys would stop working, and they went into the MBP and jiggle some stuff around (a specific wire, I'm not electronically inclined so I know NOT of what they spake!). Well I didn't want to do that but it always stuck in the back of my mind. I had given up, really, and was planning to take my MBP to the apple store. But by chance one night I left my MBP on the floor where it's cool, and when I turned it on, the problem went - poof! It seems there was some validity to the post that spoke about heat, because my problems started when I would stream foreign dramas on my MBP for hours at night, and I would hear the fan going off all the time, and in the mornings, my "p", "enter", "0", ";", and all the function keys would stop working.
So, maybe try keeping the MBP in a cool place when it's off. Since I've started doing this overnight every night (keeping it on the cool floor, out of reach of any big feet), I have not had a single problem with my keyboard.

Why can't I play purchased movies on my Apple TV? And why does iTunes match not work on my Apple TV?
I have an Apple TV (early 2012) and bought some movies in the iTunes store. Now, Apple TV doesn't let me watch my purchased content. I very well can listen to music I have bought in the iTunes store and watch the purchased movies on my iphone 6 (running the latest iOS 8) and on my MacBook Air (running the latest version of Yosemite). I can also rent movies on Apple TV and watch them - no problem at all.
The other problem I have is that I activated iTunes Match on my Apple TV. But it doesn't work either. On my Mac and on my iphone - there's no problem. On Apple TV instead there is always appearing the message, that it will take a couple of minutes to setup iTunes Match on Apple TV. Well... that is too nice to be true! It takes hours and even after that it doesn't work at all.
I checked the forums and tried different things:
1. Updating my Apple TV's software to the latest release
2. Restoring all settings of my Apple TV and taking it offline (meaning: logging out of iTunes on Apple TV and taking it off power)
3. Restarting my modem and router after half a minute break and taking it off power.
4. Setting up Apple TV again and reconnecting it with iTunes and my WLAN-router.
5. I also wanted to Airplay the screen of my MAC or iphone to Apple TV -> doesn't work (even though I can watch the movies on this two devices without any problems). Other content can be airplayed to Apple TV without any problems as well.
-> Nothing seems to work!
When I tried to play the moves the following to messages appear:
1. iTunes is currently unavailable. Try again later. (But Apple TV recognizes how much of the movie has been watched already. It indicates that it is connecting and authorizing... and after that the message above appears). OR
2. Apple TV says that the movie will be ready to be watched in two hours from now... or that you have to chose a lower resolution, if you want to watch it any sooner.
Does anyone face the same difficulties? And of course: Does anyone know any cure and salvation for my Apple TV? ;-)

I've posted a topic in regards to this after having a long conversation with Apple support this morning and will be receiving a call from their tech team tomorrow to run through it further
As it stands iTunes cannot be accessed via ATV's and nor can it be streamed via AirPlay from iTunes to the ATV
However I can access all films/iCloud content via my Mac Mini with no issues! -
My track pad is not working. The computer has been off for 10 days and I changed the batteries
Can someone help me with my iMac track pad? My computer has been off for 10 days and when I turned it on the curser will not move. The green light on the track pad would come on then off so i replaced the batteries in the track pad but it still does not work. Not sure if the grandchildren were on it over the holidays could something be locked on the keyboard?
1. Make sure that battery is in normal condition.
2. Shut down the computer.
Clean the trackpad with moist not wet microfiber cloth.
System Preferences > Point & Click
Try turning off three finger dragging and then turning it on after testing.
3. Is there any Bluetooth device nearby with failing batteries? If so, replace the batteries.

Choose the method for:
"Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
6. Close all windows and quit all applications.
Click the Spotlight -the magnifying glass icon- in the menu bar. Enter Disk utility in the box.
Select Disk Utility. When the Disk utility window opens up,
select Macintosh HD, then First Aid.
Click Repair Disk Permission
Ignore the time remaining estimate.
Last 1 minute may take longer. -
Updating to IOS7 caused all files on iPad to disappear and restore from iTunes does not work
I recently updated my iPad to IOS7. Before doing so, I backed up the contents to iTunes. After completing the update, I found that the iPad has been completely cleared out of all files. .It is now completely empty and prompts for a new setup when I turn it on.
So naturally I tried to restore from iTunes. However, although the restore process appears to have completed, nothing changes at all on the iPad. It remains a blank slate.
Can someone please advise how I can recover my files? There are a lot of important photos I want to preserve. Perhaps I am missing some obvious step.

No, there is no need to re-purchase iWork. If it was installed from a retail boxed DVD, it needs to be reinstalled from the DVD. If a license was purchased electronically for the iWork '09 trial, reinstalling from the downloaded dmg will need to be done. I tried updating my iPod, and ever since it has not worked at all. If I hold in the lock & home button, it will tell me to plug it into iTunes. Once I do that, it says it will restore but every time, restoring it fails. My iPod is not working at all, and I really have no idea what to do. Since my last software update, my iphoto 11 will not import any photos from any source. The circle just spins...when I go to force quit, it says iphoto not responding. Backed up iphoto library, uninstalled and reinstalled iphoto. Still not working. Help!

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

I upgraded from Iphone 3g to iphone 4. I had to update my macbook pro to Lepard just to sync. the **** thing with the new iphone 4. I bought and updated to lepard. Now when I try to sync itunes does not recognize my new iphone 4 as mine and wants to erase everything I have bought using the phone before it will sync! It says everything on the phone now will be cleared in order to sync it with my existing info on the computer from my previous iphone. How can I just get everything from my current iphone 4 into itunes, basically add it to the info from my previous iphone 3g that is currently in my itunes? I dont want to lose what I have on my phone currently....I paid money for half the apps for crying out loud.
I was so frustrated by this when I first bought the phone that I just pushed it out of my mind and NEVER synced it. Please help...Nope - you cannot restore a backup from a newer iOS version on to a device running an older iOS version. The reverse works, but in your case to use your backup, you must update to iOS 7.0.3 - no other option if you want to use that backup.

I have no idea what may have caused your MacBook to stop working, but from your description it kind of sounds like it may have started before you ran Software Update and installed the new Apps. Just the general slow feeling and bugginess is what tips me off. You said that you weren't sure if you had closed all open windows, that doesn't matter if the computer restarts itself. It automatically closes all other open applications when restarting.
As to your data being retrievable, if when you take it in they do a fresh install of the OS, then no, it will not be unless you want to pay several thousand dollars to a software retrieval company.
I am glad to hear that you have taken into the Apple Store to get it fixed, and that you have all of your purchased music backed up to your iPod. You should be able to just transfer it all back to iTunes once you get your computer back should it be necessary.
As a side note, the proper place for this topic would probably in the MacBook forums, not iTunes since there is no evidence that iTunes started the issue. -
