Update 2.0.1 Made my Apps Useless
I ran the update two days ago. Since running the update none of my apps work. All the App icons are still there but when you select an app it just tries to start but is unsuccessful and just pops back to the home screen. ALL DOWNLOADED APPS ARE DOING THIS, NOTHING WORKS!
I have tried to uninstall all the apps and re-install them with no success. I get the same result. I tried to download them with the iTunes software and then sync to the phone, again no success. I went to the Apps Store on my phone and it showed them as "Installed" so I could not try to re-install them using just the phone.
Does anyone out there have the same issue? This phone is becoming an non-productivity tool for me! Please tell me how to remedy this issue is you can.
THANKS - KEVIN
This 3rd party application issue is really frustrating. I am experiencing the same problem. Tomorrow morning I have a date with the local Genius Bar, which I am not expecting to be productive. At this point, I've given up on a user-based fix. It looks like a software/firmware issue to me. To that end, I've sent e-mails to AppleInsider, iPhoneAlley, and iPhoneAtlas. Maybe if we generate a little press, Apple will address the issue before 4th Quarter 2009. I would encourage everyone else to do the same.
I don't post a lot on these forums. So if I have breached the protocol, I apologize in advance.
Here's the post I sent:
Judging from the forums on apple.com, there seems to be a persistent and growing problem with third-party applications for the iPhone, both 1G and 3G, purchased through the App Store. For reasons no one has yet figured out, applications purchased from the App Store and installed either via the cellular network or iTunes mysteriously stop working and crash on launch. These are not jail-broken or otherwise hacked phones, but regular, out of the box, ATT compliant iPhones.
I have about 60 third-party applications purchased from the App Store, about $125 worth of software. None of them work. Only the Apple applications work. I'm not alone. The fixes posted on the apple.com iPhone discussions forum range from downgrading to iTunes 7.7 to erasing the iPhone and reinstalling the applications one at a time - all of which involve a lot of time and lost data. Like many others on the forum, I deleted everything from my phone, performed a hard-restart, and, ultimately, did a restore and reinstalled all of my third-party applications. Everything worked for awhile. Now, nothing works again. Again, I am not alone. Take a look at the iPhone forum on the discussions board and see for yourself.
None of the posted fixes seem to work. No one seems to know what exactly is causing the problem. The issue is affecting both firmware versions 2.0 and 2.0.1. People with 2 purchased applications - both free and paid - are having the same problem as those with 50. The number of applications doesn't seem to matter, nor does the specific applications themselves. Neither AppleCare nor the Genius Bar folks will acknowledge the problem, much less provide a viable solution. It would be a tremendous help to those of us who are just trying to get our iPhones to work properly if you would take a look at the issue and run a story.
Thank you very much.
Hopefully, someone will look into the story and run something about it.

I can't update the purchases I made with the old Apple I.D;
how can I sync my old Apple I.D. with new one?Only the Apple ID used to buy an app can update an app. Apple does not merge Apple IDs and Apple does not transfer content biught with one ID to another ID.

Am I the only fool who clicked on update all when my iPad told me updates were available? Two updates loaded just fine, but the other four never updated and now lie useless and grayed out. I had 6 Apps that needed updating on my iPad original. I hit "Update All" and that ruined four Apps. They won't download the updates, nor will they launch and be useable either. I lost Splashtop 2, Bible!, and Mercury Browser! Suggestions?! I don't want to ruin my access to Splashtop 2 for sure.
I fixed it by going through a few steps using iTunes while hooked to my computer.

App made with App Builder V32.1 on iOS 8 doesn't install on iPad
Hi,
I got a problem with an App with subscription made with App Builder V32.1 on iOS 8.
The process was ok, no error message, i download the .ipa and then I upload on my iPad using iTunes. I have synchronized everything and then I saw my App on the device but the icon is darker and there is a text under the icon that report the App is still under installation.
Any idea?Hi Neil,
I appreciate your answer but unfortunately you are wrong, at least for my case :-)
I delete the old mobileprovision files, I made a new App ID and associate with the devices and then I built new mobileprovision files... and it still doesn't work.
After a day spent to try to understand the problem, I solved making a new couple of certificates and then it works.
I don't know why, the "old" certificates are used in other Apps and they are still valid.
This solution works but now I have to verify if is it possible to update the oldest App with a new one made with another certificate. The Apple Developer credentials are the same but there is not documentation about this issue.
Ciao,

I am the owner of my iPhone 4 and it had not been updating and allowing me to download apps. So I decided to do factory setting, before doing so I had backed up my phone on my computer then I had erased everything from my iphone. But now I want to start everything from the beginning, and on my setting my Apple ID is present however when I put my password in it doesn't let me log in. The message that I receive says that I would have to remove my Apple ID as it will not let me log in with that I'd even though I am the original owner, I have tried everything on find my iPhone as well, even there my Apple ID not showing on the devise.
If anyone has had a similar experience could you please advise me on what to do,
ThanksYou must have the credentials that were used to turn on Find my iPhone on the device. Without them, you can not get past the activation lock.

After I updated lion to 10.7.4, app store does not recognize my ID APPLE and it unable to connect me to app store in order to update/download apps? What have I to do? I have the same problem with mac mini e mac book air. Please help me!
Your advice did not help me. I also installed 10.7.4 combo but the situation is the same.
my internet connection is ok, mail is ok, but app store after 3 resets does not recognize my ID and it says "connection is not possible". Why? I have the same problem in both my mac mini late 2009 and mac book air 2010? Is it a problem of 10.7.4 update? I have to solve this problem and how can i return to 10.7.3 if my last backup was not with 10.7.3???thank you for your kind collaboration... -
After I've used the download all updates option under the updates tab in the iTunes library Apps view, when I plug in my device (iPad or iPhone) and go to the device apps view I now have a button to the right of each of those apps that says "update" instead of "remove" or "install".
The problem is that my app library is enormous and often there are 20+ apps that had updates at one time and it's a royal pain having to scroll through the entire list to find the ones that have the "update" button that needs to be clicked.
Unfortunately iTunes doesn't have a sorting option in the pulldown called "updated" to bring those to the top.
Is there any way to easily select all of those apps rather than having to manually scroll through my whole library hunting for them just to click the update button?Hi Twilight_Face!
You can always try a backup and restore in an attempt to get rid of these apps that were interrupted during the download and are no longer available:

I changed my email address, which in turn, changed my Apple ID. I changed the settings of my iPad and things were fine for me, but my husband shares a few apps with me and isn't able to update or use any of those apps now. The change doesn't work for him.
Now, I got a new iPad mini and I'm having the same problem. I have purchased many apps which I can't use now. I have a lot of work documents saved to them too.
Is there anyway that both husband and I can change the setting so we can access the apps we have already purchased? You have to be signed into the correct Apple ID in order to download those purchases again for free.
Settings>iTunes & App Store. Tap the old ID and sign out, then sign in with the new/changed ID. -
I have bought an iMAC second hand but when updates to purchased (not by me) Apps I cannot download the updates as it is asking for the original owners password. How can I amend this or could I delete the Apps and download new ones in place under my email
If the machine was upgraded to Lion 10.7.x by the original owner then you bought an illegal license of Lion and also of any other applications that the seller said came pre-installed, this assumes the seller did not include original install media. In that case you need to contact the seller for the original install DVDs that came with the machine re-install up to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and then purchase Mountain Lion ($20) and the applications you want or need. If the seller cannot come up with the original install discs then you can buy them from a nominal cost from AppleCare..

I bought this MAC from a family member. Did everything need to change items to my apple id. Today I did the update for IOS Yosemite now the app store is auto filling with someone else id?? But they seem to be my apps??
If you didn’t erase the drive and install using you AppleID, then the OS and the purchased apps are still registered to the other AppleID. You cannot change that by logging into iCloud. Apps are forever tied to the AppleID used to purchase/download them.
You have to erase the drive and download/install the Apps using your AppleID. -
My ipod touch (model A1213) is not syncing properly. I have updated the software to the latest (2.2.1) and have even resored it. Itunes says it is working and updated but will not sync and apps. Error message says that app will not sync because a newer version needed.
2.2.1 is not the latest available for any ipod touch.
Is yours the original ipod touch?
If so then:

I have an old app in my updates but no longer have the app on iTunes and iPhone 4s. How can i remove it? It is beyond annoying, as it constantly has the badge noticfication but can't update the app as it is no longer avaliable. Help!!!
Unfortunately the app isn't avaliable in the Australian store only avaliable to download in the UK store, very confussing as it is definitely not in my iTunes or on my iPhone. I don't understand how or why it managed to get to updates. I just want to delete it or at least get rid of the notification badge for it.

Hi, I have a question about iCloud. I have an ipod 4th generation and im getting a 5th generation. i have lots of games such as subway surfers and temple run 2. I worked and played really hard on earning stuff and have also made in app purchases. Does iCloud save that kind of stuff?
See:

However, not all in-app purchases will transfer to another device. For which ones ill not see:

i have an app update on my phone through the app store, but i dont have that app and when i hit update it says the item is no longer available for sale,, but i cannot get rid of the little 1 at the corner of the app store app,, how can i get rid of it,, i have iphone 5
You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store notice. For example, if the App Store says you need to update "Twitter," the hacked app may be "Angry Birds" or something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you have to carry out a systematic search.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
kMDItemAppStoreHasReceipt=1
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).
In the Finder, press the key combination command-F to open a search window, or select
File ▹ Find
from the menu bar. In the search window, select
Search: This Mac
from the row of tokens below the toolbar. Below that is a popup menu initially showing Kind. From that menu, select Other...
A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select Raw Query and click OK or press return.
Now there will be a text box to the right of popup menu. Click in that box and paste (command-V).
The search window will show all the App Store products you've installed. Compare those search results with the list of your purchases from the App Store. To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
At least one of the items listed in the search window is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Test. -
