Update 4.1 Kill the battery on 3GS

After the latest update 4.1 my the battery is 50% less then last week.
Probably is the game center , but I never use it.
In general settings is disappered olso the stanby time and use data.
It's a tragedy, do you know if apple is making somenthing for us ?
Do I have to restore the iphone ?
Why apple make a so wrong update ?
Thanks

Dear Lawrence, I'writing from Italy and I got the same problem with my Iphone 3Gs after the latest software update .
My battery got the 50% time less than before
I dont't think is a problem of few phones , as you say, by the way I've seen that thousand of people got the same problem.
I have a private mail server and I don't use push.
Th really problem is that the updates is wrong or not pefect for everyone and Apple must solve it.
So I have to reset my phone and delete all my data ? Do you think that is correct ?
I believe that Apple must solve the problem for everybody and we are a lot in the world . Have a nice day

The new software update - iOS 7.0.2 is killing the battery in my iPad. I have searched online and taken the recommended measures to decrease battery use, but within hours my iPad is completely dead. It would take days to kill the battery before this update. I am very frustrated. Can I undo this update???

This typically happens when some apps on the phone were interrupted by the upgrade. When it comes back up the app tries to resume and can not. You have to find and kill that app(s).
Do you have an Exchange account?
That is usually the culprit. Go into Settings and turn off all of the toggles for the Exchange account. Then reset the phone (hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons and don’t let go until the screen goes dark and the Apple logo appears). When the phone powers back on, turn the toggles back on.
Do the same for all mail accounts if you don't have Exchange or that doesn't resolve the issue.
If it is not Exchange/Mail then it could be another app(s).
With iOS 7 you can control what apps run in the background. Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh. This will list all of the apps that can run in background. Turn them all off and restart. If this fixes the problem turn on a few at a time until you find the one causing the trouble.

  • What's the fastest way to kill the battery...

hello friends. i was wondering what's the fastest way to drain my macbook pro battery so i can calibrate it? i want to kill the battery not the laptop if you know what i mean. thanks.

Turn on wifi + bluetooth and turn the brightness all the way up, and if its a new mbp, turn off the automatic video card switching in energy saver. Then just play youtube videos / movies / games (anything that uses the vid card as much as possible helps) till it goes flat.

  • Does charging your computer too long really kill the battery?

Does charging your computer too long really kill the battery?  I have some friends who claim this happened to thair PCs, and my friend's iBook G4 has about ~3 minutes of battery life because of this.  Has Apple fixed this in later models or should I still only charge it until just as long as it takes for it to get filled up?

Mac power management is now, and always has been, very smart. The Mac does not over-charge its battery.
Batteries have a limited lifetime, and they eventually wear out whether they are charged daily or never charged at all. Your friend's G4 battery, if original, has lasted a very long time. It is not dying due to over-charging, it is dying due to old age.
For longest battery life, follow the recommendations in the article shldr2thewheel cited above.

  • Does leaving an Ipod pluged in kill the battery?

I have a dock/speaker combination for my ipod. I use the ipod with these speakers as an alarm clock, so i have to leave the speakers plugged in all night. Does leaving the ipod plugged in like this kill the battery? in some places ive heard that it does, but in others ive heard that it doesnt have that big of an effect at all. Which is it?

In fact, as long as your iPod isn't hot, the battery likes being topped up.

  • Plugging Blackberry into the computer kills the battery

Last night, I plugged in my phone to do a backup, it had about 50% of it's battery left.  After I had completed the backup, maybe an hour, I unplugged it, and the plug icon flashed briefly on the screen and then the phone shut off (like it had no power).  The phone refused to turn on, it just flashed the dead battery icon.  I swapped the battery with another one, and put the phone back on the computer to try to backup the media on the SIM card.  This morning when I unplugged it from the computer, same thing: the plug icon flashed briefly, and the phone refused to turn on because it's battery was dead.
Right now I have it plugged into the Blackberry charger and it's charging from flat, like from 6% up.
The batteries are authentic RIM logoed batteries, the charger too, though I think the cable to the computer isn't (but how could that matter?).
What is going on?  It shouldn't kill it's battery connecting to the computer, and certainly not in an hour.
    Thanks,
    Stephane

It sounds like to me your USB port is not powered the level required for charging the device.
Do you have an original wall outlet charger?

  • Since my last software update 15 feb 13, the battery on my iphone 4s drains very and unusually fast.

As above i had had troubles since the last update of the phone software. the battery drains incredibly fast. the phone has also started turning itself off even though it has had a over 30% charge in it.
is there any way to stop this or is it a problem with the update?
    any suggestions welcome.
    thanks

A simple search of the forums would have revealed that after EVERY iOS update there are reports of battery issues.
That same search would have revealed that basic troubleshooting as described in the User's Guide resolves the vast majority of battery issues.

  • Does closing out of your apps on iphone kill the battery?

I heard that closing out of you apps on your iphone is like when you "force quit" on your mac and it kills your battery instead of saving it.

Not true.  If anything, running fewer apps will help conserve the battery.

  • Does anyone have wi-fi issues after 7.1.1 update. its really killing the quality of video calls.

its really killing the quality of video calls.Facetime and Skype for example. Tried all the tips including resetting networks, rebooting, nothing helpled.

After I updated my iphone 4S to 7.1.1, there is always problem with Facetime and Skype. Wifi just drops for no reason. I have tried everything, resetting the phone and freezing for 10 min, but nothing helped.  Hope Apple will fix this bug soon.

  • Does Apple kill the battery at a set number of cycles?

The battery on my macbook pro dropped from 47% capacity to 10% at 475 cycles and additional charge/discharge cycles do not increase that number. Coincidentally (or not) my first battery also died at EXACTLY the same number.  It was still in Applecare when the first one died and the phone tech said ÿeah, that's about right."
Does Apple have a bomb planted in the battery software to force replacement at 475?

    mende1 wrote:
Batteries are designed to be able to have working the 80% of the capacity after 1000 charges. If your battery doesn't support that or you see that your battery is dying, the battery is defective, so you should take the computer to an Apple Store
Verrrry interesting.  What is the source of this information.  Is it from Apple or is it generic engineering data? I'm heading into Chicago in two days and plan to stop by the Apple store. I would LOVE to be able to quote their own specs if possible.

  • My iphone 4s restarts itself and kills the battery when not being used, what is wrong?

If I'm not using the phone it dies and then restarts by itself, then when I woke up this morning the battery had died and it needed charging, it was fully charged when I went to bed, I have restored it with and without backup and hard restarted it, the only time it seemed to behave was when it was restored as a new phone with absolutely nothing on it at all apart from what it comes with.

restore the phone as new if it still does that then replace it

  • Latest iOS update is killing the battery on my iPhone 5, how do I go back to the old one?

I just updated my iOS a few days ago, and now my battery is draining at a rate of 20% every hour.  I've turned off everything I can think of, including bluetooth, wifi, gps, etc., and it's still exactly the same.  I have not been using my iPhone anymore than before, if anything, maybe less.  Is there any possible way to go back to the old iOS version?  Would a system restore from an old backup work?  My phone is not lasting more than a few hours before it dies... I really need to get this fixed.

    Viewing Usage Statistics
Awareness of how you use your iPhone and knowing how long your battery typically lasts can help you improve its battery life. You can view your iPhone usage statistics by tapping the Settings icon on the Home screen and choosing General > Usage. Under the “Time since last full charge” heading you’ll see two items:
Usage: Amount of time iPhone has been awake and in use since the last full charge. The phone is awake when you’re on a call, using email, listening to music, browsing the web, or sending and receiving text messages, or during certain background tasks such as auto-checking email.
Standby: Amount of time iPhone has been powered on since its last full charge, including the time the phone has been asleep.
When these two times are the same or very close together, that is almost always indicitive of something using your phone's battery life, even if you're not using it - (e.g. auto-lock set to "Never", Email auto-checking options set to "Push" and the email account having many mailboxes/folders)
