Update 4.3.3 to ios 5 or newer version

My wife has an old iphone 4 with 4.3.3 and we'd like tp update it to ios 5 or newer version. Please help me and explain how I could do this?!

Connect your iPhone to your computer and launch iTunes. You'll most likely be prompted to update. If not click the "check for update" button on the summary tab for the device in iTunes. For more information and full details, see the section titled "Update your device using iTunes" in this support article:

Sorry, Apple has no approved method to downgrade the version of iOS on your iDevice. You can voice your displeasure with the iOS by leaving feedback at the appropriate subsection from the link below.

You can force quit by holding the power button down for extended period.
During boot up hold down the Option key and choose your Macintosh HD OSX.
In >System Preferences> Startup Disk>choose your internal OSX System as Default.

To expand on Rudegar's comment, often, updating a jailbroken or hacked phone will permanently brick the phone.
If your phone was jailbroken or hacked to unlock it, it is now most likely completely useless.

  • I can't update iPhoto from 8.0.1 to newer version

    Hello everybody.
I have the iPhoto 09 version 8.0.1 (397), and when I start it, check the updater and show that there's updater to do. Click to update, and then when the software updater check the updater it say me that there isn't any newer version.
I'm trying to install it manually (8.0.2 and even 8.1 version) and it says that this updater is't for my version of iPhoto
    What can I do?
    Thanks !

    Victor
Welcome to the Apple user to user assistance forums
Have you "cleaned up" your applications folder by moving iPhoto into a folder?
That will do it - all of the iLife applications need to be loose in the Applications folder - at the root lever - where they were originally installed for the updater to work - move them back and they will update (8.1.0 is the latest)
    And always backup before updating

  • Possible to update from old iBooks Author file using new version?

Will the just-released new version of iBooks Author allow me to update an existing book which was created with a previous version of the software?
I created a book in landscape mode, but placed all of the images in portrait orientation. Now that there are portrait-only templates, I want to redo the book. Will I be able to replace my book on iBooks without having to relist it?
The new iBooks Author description states the following: "And to keep your work current, add updates by publishing new versions of your original title. iBooks will automatically notify your readers that there’s a new version of your book ready to download."

    nanobear:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Do you still have the original library on our old Mac? If so, connect the two Macs together so you can manually copy the iPhoto Library folder from the old Mac into the Pictures folder of the new iMac. download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, putting your administrator login name in the owner section and Staff in the group section. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field.
Now launch iPhoto and it should inform you that the library will need to be upgraded. Select OK and the library will be converted to the latest version.
What version of iPhoto were you running on the old Mac?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • My MAC won't recongise our new Ipod 5. Every time I try to update iTunes it says I need a newer version.

My MAC won't recognise our new Ipod 5. Everytime I try to update iTunes it tells me that I need a newer version.

Uopgrade your MacBook Pro to OSX 10.6.8 or higher so you can run the newest iTunes.  Snow Leopard discs cost about $20 from Apple online (not available in retail stores).

  • I cant get itunes to update and when trying to download the new version it says error i dont want to lose the music i already have

help i tried to update my itunes last night and it wouldnt update now my itunes wont open it says theres an error so i have tried to download the new itunes and it still says error i dont want to lose what music i already have on my itunes

    You're using a Mac computer?
You are always at risk of losing your music.  If you are worried about it now too it means you don't have a backup.  Get one. Soon.

  • HT1338 Just have a question about updating to new mountain lion os x, if I have to update ALL MY APPLE PRODUCTS WITH THE NEW VERSION, or will it automatically update others, with one purchase???

If I update my iMac to new mountain lion version with paid app, do I still need to update ALL my other apple products paying sere rarely for all???

No. You misunderstood. Upgrading to Mountain Lion is not connected to upgrading your other software nor your iDevices. If you need to upgrade third-party software you need to do that in addition to upgrading OS X. Mountain Lion has nothing to do with upgrading your iDevices. You upgrade their firmware with iTunes.

  • How do I update my old Organizer catalog for a new version of the program?

When you install a new versiobn of the program and start the Organizer, it will usually give you a pop-up asking if you want to convert the catalog from a previous version. However, if that tool doesn't automatically launch, contributor Barb O offers this manual solution:
Go to File menu Catalog command and you will see a button for Convert. Click that convert button to start the catalog conversion process manually.
Note that IF you have more than one catalog, each one converts separately.
BEFORE you start your new program, go to your old Organizer's catalog and select:
    -- Catalog > Repair
-- File > Reconnect > All Missing Files
    -- Catalog > Repair (again)
The logic here is that a "cleaned up" prior version catalog is less likely to have problems during the upgrade process.

I recommend you ask that in the PSE forum. I'm sure there is some import/ export hocuspocus involved...
