Update after Yosemite

After updating to Yosemite iphoto dose not work but when I try to update it I get this "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled." iPhoto came with my computer when bought it.

Try each of these in order until one works:
Open App Store and click on your Purchases tab. If you're prompted to accept them, then do so.
Put the old ones into the Trash, temporarily. Open App Store and see if you can download them for free from their individual product pages. If asked to buy them, see the next option.
Click here, contact Apple, and wait for a response.
You will have to purchase them using your Apple ID.

I only have 1 apple ID and the same was used to set up this early 2011 macbook pro and iPhoto app. I don't want to loose out on any photos. I tried logging out of app store and back in but no luck. PLEEAASEE HELPP!!!
This problem has been reported by quite a few forum members, who skipped the update to iPhoto 9.5.1 while running Mavericks. In that case try to purchase iPhoto again instead of updating.
After making your backup try the following:
Uninstall iPhoto by deleting it from the applications folder, but do not empty the Trash.
Launch the App Store, click the "Store" menu, and sign in with your AppleID.
Open the main page of the App Store and search for iPhoto.
If iPhoto is listed as "Free", click the "Free" button to buy it with your current AppleID.
If it is not showing as free, there is no help but contacting the App Store Support, as Niel pointed out: http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact/

Messages stuck in updating after Yosemite install.  Tried re-install of Yosemite and quit messages, still unable to access.

    Hi,
Go to the ~/Library/Attachments folder.  (well it should be a folder).
If it is not a Folder then rename it and create a New folder with the same name.
    restart Messages.
Or if you have a Time Machine backup replace the Non folder item with an Original from just before the update.

  • App Store refuses ID for required updates after Yosemite update

iMac just updated to Yosemite.  I can not open these programs now and they remain on the list for updates.
Lots of problems.  Latest:  I'm told I need to update all 4 of the iWorks programs, but the App Store refuses my ID:
"Update Unavailable with This Apple ID
This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled."
I've tried the App Store Help for a week now and this is what I get:
"The selected topic is currently unavailable
Make sure you’re connected to the Internet. For help connecting, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Network, and click “Assist me.”
If you’re connected to the Internet, and the content still doesn’t appear, try again later."

Please test after each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved. Back up all data before making any changes. Keep in mind that no one here represents Apple or can help with customer-service issues.
    Step 1
A purchased app can only be updated by signing in to the App Store with the same Apple ID that was originally used to buy it. There's no way around that limitation, which also applies to free apps. If you can't sign in with the buyer's ID, delete the app and reinstall it. You'll have to pay for it again, if applicable.
    Step 2
If you get the alert when trying to update a bundled iLife app, select the Purchases page in the App Store and locate the app in your purchase history. If there's a button marked ACCEPT on the right, click it.
If you have a used Mac, the bundled apps were linked to the original owner's Apple ID and can't be transferred to you. Reportedly, customer service has issued redemption codes to some second owners who asked, but it's not guaranteed.
    Step 3
If you're trying to update iLife or iWork apps that were installed from a purchased DVD, or if you have a refurbished Mac bought directly from Apple, contact App Store customer service for a redemption code. You may be asked for the part number of the DVD.
    Step 4
From the App Store menu bar, select
              Store ▹ View My Account
Enter your Apple ID password at the prompt. At the lower right corner of the window that opens, click the Reset button. Close the window.
    Step 5
According to a report, the error can result from changing the language setting of your Apple ID account. I can't confirm.

  • Iphoto not working with upgrade and updated after Yosemite update

We updated to Yosemite last night and this morning I found I can not open my iPhoto.  We had a very old version that cost to update so I decided to wait, well when I saw there was a free update I did that, then it said To open your library with this version of iPhoto, it first needs to be prepared.  Now when I try to open it it keeps telling me to do the prepared upgrader and I already did, so it only gives me the option to quit or learn more which is where you down load it.

All fixed thanks to the apple support people.  It was very hard and many many different ways to get it resolved.

  • Iphoto wont open or update after Yosemite upgrade

    Hi there,
I have seen questions like this but not exactly this before.
After backing my early 2011 Macbook pro 13" to my 'my passport' I installed Yosemite about a week ago.
Now iPhoto will not open. There is no error message, just nothing happens. The icon doesn't bounce in the dock.
I then noticed that there was an iPhoto and iMovie update available and I thought this might be the remedy, so clicked on 'update' in the App Store. They will not update either. No error message just either 'paused' or 'waiting' status for over 2 hours, but nothing happens and the buttons are greyed out.
I have closed all apps and rebooted and tried again but the same thing happens. Most of the time the buttons are greyed out.
Any advice? Do I have to reinstall Yosemite or iphoto?
If I have backed up my system, are my photos safe?
Any help or info gratefully received.
    Thank you.

If you have backed uo your system then your photos should be safe. But we can't say with absolute certainty as we don't know the back up settings you chose.
Here's what will work with certainty:
    Most Simple Back Up:
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store
Try reinstall iPhoto on your Mac - just the app not the Library.
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
    2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928
One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

  • IPhoto with photos won't update after Yosemite....help!

    Hey all,
I downloaded and installed Yosemite today and subsequently was trying to update iPhoto. I got a message that said: This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled. I had an old apple ID years ago for whatever reason and I accessed it and it said the same thing. Does anyone have any troubleshooting ideas, please?
Also it seems like everything is SO much slower....(I have also updated my iPhone). Seems like this is a common theme though. Any advice there?
    Thanks in advance!
    Sunset.

  • Mac Mini don't install server update after yosemite

I've updated the OS X on my mac mini with OS X server to Yosemite, and from this on I can't install the server update 3.2.2. So, I was forced to buy the OS X Server 4.0, even though I wasn't informed about this. I bought the Mac Mini with OS X Server on March for my company, and it took less than one year for me to spend more money with something I had already bought, without being informed. So, I want to know if this is the right procedure or if I can have my money back, as I've bought 7 months ago.

    You have the following options:
1.) Restore an old backup back to Mavericks with your server working, then upgrade to version 3.2.2
2.) Purchase Yosemite Server version 4.0 to upgrade your server data to 4.0
3.) Wait for Apple to offer you a different solution.
I do not recommend option #3 as it is assured that you will wait FOREVER.

  • Iwork apps do not update after Yosemite

I have a 13 inch 2013 MacBook Air. I got iWork bundled in with the device at purchase. I recently updated to OS X Yosemite and somehow the iWork apps fail to update through the app store. Updating all the other apps works (Xcode, iMovie etc).
While trying to update the iWork apps, it shows waiting for a long time and then exits saying 'An error has occured'.
    Any suggestions?

  • Netflix Streaming on MacMini does not work after update to Yosemite

Netflix videos will no longer stream :
I am using a MacMini (late 2012) with an HP w2207h display.  Intel processor 2.5 GHz Core !5  Intel  HD Graphics 4000 1024 MG  After updating to Yosemite, 10.10.1, I cannot stream videos from the Netflix site.
All of the monitor specs. would indicate that streaming videos in HDCP would be possible.  Everything streamed very well until approximately 4 days ago.
I have changed the display resolution to 1080p.  I have disconnected the monitor and reconnected it several times.  I have updated iTunes as well as Yosemite.

Have you went to NetFlix's support site?

  • I have just updated to Yosemite, but now I can't get the custom shortkeys to work. In Mavericks I had no problem whatsoever, but now even after googeling and restart no solution. Does anyone have the problem? All the other shortcuts work!

    Hi Thomas,
I can confirm the problem you are hitting. The XML test trace does not get recognized at all, and it defaults to Eclipse's basic Open File behaviour. I am not sure if it's because the format definition is missing, or if it's because something prevents the trace type from being recognized. I will open a bug about it.
    Thanks for identifying this issue!
In the meantime, if you'd like to experiment with XML analyses, you can also take a look at the example at https://github.com/tracecompass/xml-analysis-example .

  • IPhoto update failure after updating to yosemite

Updated to yosemite, now I can't use iPhoto without updating that too.
Error message when I try to update iPhoto : "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled". Neither is true, no other option or explanation given. The iPhoto was bundled with the computer when I bought it in 2009, never had any updating problems until now, checked Apple ID and it is the correct one. This was obviously caused by the update so why is a fix not obviously available. Makes me wonder what other problems will arise.
How can I get the proper update?

That means, that iPhoto has not been associated with your AppleID. You do not say, which iPhoto version you are trying to update from.
Associating iPhoto with your AppleID should have happened, when you bought the computer with iPhoto preinstalled with MacOS X Lion or later or with the Mavericks upgrade, if your Mac came with SnowLeopard. Try, if you can "accept" iPhoto now:
Sign into the AppStore with your AppleID
Open the "Purchased" tab. Do you see iPhoto with an "Accept" button?
Accepting associates your Apple ID with the preinstalled iPhoto. It should move iPhoto from the "Accept" portion of the App Store to the "Purchased" tab. After that, you should be able to update iPhoto from the Updates tab of the AppStore.
If you do you not see the update there, try to buy iPhoto. iPhoto may show for free, so you do not have to pay again.
Backup your iPhoto library, if you do not have a current backup.
Uninstall iPhoto by deleting it from the Applications folder, otherwise you cannot buy it again. But do not empty the Trash, so you can put iPhoto back, if need be.
Launch the App Store, click the "Store" menu, and sign in with your current AppleID.
Open the main page "Featured" of the App Store and search for iPhoto.
If iPhoto is listed as "Free", click the "Free" button to buy it with your current AppleID.
If it is not showing as free, there is no help but contacting the App Store Support to sort out the AppleID. Use this link: http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact/
After you update iPhoto, your iPhoto Library will need upgrading. Make a backup of your iPhoto Library, before you open iPhoto the first time after updating.

  • Cannot download Iphoto after updated to Yosemite

I cannot update Iphoto anymore after updated to Yosemite. The system popped up a small window and showed that: update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled. But it is my own account, I just changed the password.
Please help me to solve this problem.

That means, that your AppleID is not associated with the iPhoto version you have installed.
Which version of iPhoto do you currently have?  Sign into the App Store with your Apple ID (in the Store" menu).
If iPhoto came preinstalled on your Mac, check the "Purchases" tab of the App Store, if there is an "Accept" button besides iPhoto. If yes, accept iPhoto to associate it with your Apple ID.  Then try again to update.
If that does not work, uninstall iPhoto - move the iPhoto app from the Applications folder to the Trash and then go to the "Featured" tab of the App Store, search for iPhoto using the Search field, then press the "Get" button to install iPhoto again, this time with your current AppleID:
