Update ALL RSS Feeds?

Is there a way to update all rss feeds manually at once?

In the menu: Mailbox --> Get New Mail --> RSS

  • Mail freezes when updating large RSS feed boxes

This is something I encountered and how I have formulated a work around. I have discovered that Mail will freeze when updating large RSS feed boxes.
A little history. After discovery RSS and how they work, I began building a collection of feeds. They included feeds from many major news providers. Over the years, the number articles form some of these sources went into the thousands.
As my database of articles grew, I encountered more severe and more frequent freezes of the application Mail. I began to take the computer off-line in order to work in these files. But inevitably, a situation would arise that would lead to the Mail application freezing.
Isolation of the issue with Mail and to the RSS boxes within Mail. The freeze would not occur when RSS feeds boxes where collapsed. Also, the freeze only affected the Mail application. Mac OS was not affected and I was able to alway close Mail from with in the Force Quit menu. Also, the Force Quit menu affirmed that Mail was indeed frozen by listing it as also "not responding."
Work around. To resolve this issue, I first choose to remove the number of RSS feed that I had subscribed to but used very infrequently. Second, I choose to delete old feeds from "never" to "every two weeks" from within the Mail preference menu (RSS sub-menu).
I think it took a while for Mail to fully delete messages older than two weeks. In fact, when I began deleting whole feeds, it took some time for those feeds to be removed from my mail box tree. Within the Activity Monitor application, I could see that a lot of disk use was occurring, even though the OS was allowing me to continue to use Mail and other applications.
To assist this process, I took my computer off-line and stepped away from it. Upon my return, the disk use was down to normal, the number of article in many RSS boxes where greatly reduced, and my disk had recovered over a GB of space. Also, Mail seems to be behaving properly, with smooth and quick performance.
If you found this article, I hope the information provided has been helpful! After a quick search in to previous posts, an entirely similar post was not found. However, others are finding the Mail application will freeze, but not necessary for the same reason.

Since I don't want to download any attachments from RSS feeds in Mail.app, is there any way to turn off the attachment download once and for all? I also get the beach ball for minutes when an item has a big attachment, and I fear my HD is cluttered with files I don't use.

  • "Enter your name and password to update the RSS feed"

I keep getting a pop-up from Safari (even when it's in the background) that says:
+*Enter your name and password to update the RSS feed*+
How on earth do I disable this? It is asking for a username and password for Twitter so I must have clicked an RSS feed link there, but after searching like mad, I can't figure out where Safari looks for RSS at on my system.

    Same here,
    It says:
<<Enter your name and password to update the RSS feed.
To update teh RSS feed "Gmail - Inbox for [email protected]", you need to log in to the area "New mail feed" on mail.google.com. Your password will be sent in clear text.
    Name: (blank field)
    Password: (blank field)
O Remember this password in my keychain. >>
This started occurring immediately after updating to safari 4.
I tried disabling the automatic RSS updates in safari preferences, set it to "never" as suggested, but the annoying window keeps on popping up.
So the original question is still not answered for me.
It seems to me that all people reporting this problem are OSX Tiger (10.4.11) users

  • Update the RSS Feed

Hi, I need help to get the box that says: "Enter your name and password to update the RSS feed" Then it says to update the RSS feed, "Gmail-Inbox" for [email protected] you need to login to the area "new mail feed" on mail.google.com your password will be sent to clear."
I have done this a number of times, and this box keeps coming up on the screen numerous times throughout the day. How can I get this screen to stop?
    Thanks

I accept cookies only from site I visit. I just went into my preferences and tried adjusting my RSS feed so let me see if it has done the trick...

  • Can I force Mail to download ALL RSS feeds from all time?

When I subscribe to an RSS feed in Mail (OS X Lion) it typically gives the last 20 feeds published. The same happens in Safari.
This limit is set by Mail and not by the server, because Google Reader can show all historical feeds, right back in time.
On Mail in Snow Leopard, when you moved the RSS feed to 'Show in Inbox', it downloaded all old RSS posts, rather like rebuilding an email account. However, the same does not happen on Lion.

Please ignore this question. Or tell me how to delete it.

  • Error updating the RSS feed "Sent Messages"

I'm getting the following alert message in mail RSS after Upgrade to Lion..
"The RSS feed could not be updated because no associated URL was found. This feed will no longer receive new articles"
Anyone any ideas what this means?

With the change to Apple Support Communities, all the subscriptions were reset.  You'll need to start the RSS feed again.  It can be found on the right side of the page under notifications > View feeds.

  • All RSS feeds shows as empty

All my RSS feeds shows as empty and refuse to update, the only RSS feeds that dont show up as empty are the one that are not updated.. once a site of which my RSS feeds has data updates.. my RSS feed gos "empty"
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== in the past monrth (around end of april)

Did you try to right-click a feed and select "Reload Live Bookmark"?
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the ''Safe mode'' start window.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (on Mac: "Firefox > Quit")

  • Too Many "Updated!" RSS Feeds

    Hello,
I subscribed to the Google Sci/Tech News, which covers a lot of stuff, which is great... The problem is that if the author even corrects a typo, I keep getting the same story over and over and over... I tried making a rule to delete any "UPDATED!" articles, but that's not part of the title, it's the article's status. Is there a way that I can get an article just once? I hate having to delete all the feeds that were updated, just to find 50 more old ones show tomorrow as "UPDATED!". They automatically delete after one day, but if it's an update, it won't delete until the next day.
    Any/all thoughts welcome. Thanks.

A lot of those feeds may have come in the initial installation (like Washington Post, if memory serves_. If you were to reset Safari, they would reappear. Deleting them is easy. Access them using the Bookmarks, Show All Bookmarks item and delete what you want as you surmised.
As to becoming unresponsive, I am doubtful, unless there are one or two badly written. I have many more than your 50 (of course not the same ones) and these rarely give me problems. The only time is when I am at work and the proxy settings cause delays along with the poor speeds. Take note of the ones you really want, then delete them all: see how that works for you. Then add the preferred feeds one by one.
I think some unresponsiveness may be due to the way some web pages are written, but the netowrks we use may also have delays and this could be a problem as well: not one but many factors could come into play.

  • Office 365 update eats RSS feeds and my Calendar

    I have a long ramble:http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/1048057-outlook-calendar-disappeared-overnight-office-updates-maybe-coincidence
where I am trying to work out what happened and then saw this:http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_365hp-outlook/outlook-rss-feed-problem-after-last-office-365/073b5c31-3015-4386-a6d8-36e7747d92f0
which leads me to believe it isn't me going made, trigger finger...., but a borked Office update.
This topic first appeared in the Spiceworks Community

    However, when I uploaded
only the blog folder and its contents, it did not
    appear on my site.
I see the last entry as May 10, so that's the old one right?
My guess would be that you did not actually upload the new blog folder. Depending on how you have things organized, you may still have your old one there somewhere, and you may have selected it by mistake with your ftp program.
I would double-check the Blog folder on your drive to make sure it has been updated, and that this is the folder you have tried to upload.
Does publishing to the folder in itself change the
entire structure so that the whole site has to be
    FTP'ed up again?
    No.

  • Updates to RSS feeds in bookmark toolbar not bold.

I've recently installed Firefox and bookmarks and RSS feeds from IE. The RSS feeds are in my bookmarks toolbar. In IE, when the RSS feeds had updates, the item name would be bold. I thought Firefox worked the same way. What do I need to do in Firefox to get RSS feed updates to display in bold?

You might be able to find some customized themes with Stylish addon and the user styles:

  • ITunes has stopped updating my RSS feed

Hi there. I have a podcast called 'A History Of: Hannibal'. While browsing the iTunes store I noticed that the most recent episode of my podcast wasn't there. I thought maybe it will fix itself in a few days but there are now 3 episodes that are not in the store. I have no idea what is wrong or how to fix this issue. My xml file/rss feed is here if you need that to solve my problem.
    http://thehistoryofpodcast.yolasite.com/resources/Hannibal.xml
    Thanks in advance,
    Jamie Redfern
Creator of the podcasts 'A History Of: Alexander the Great' and 'A History Of: Hannibal'

iTunes is not reading your feed at all because there is a parsing error in Episode 7:
    <item>
    <title>Episode 7 - How to Invade Africa</title>
    <link>http://thehistoryofpodcast.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/a-history-of-hannibal-episode- 7-how-to.html/link>
There is no '<' in the closing 'link' tag and this is wrecking the feed.

  • I want to save all RSS feeds as PDFs automatically. Is it possible?

Since i have had lots of RSS feeds but sometimes i dont have time to read so I want to save them as PDFs first and read them later. The reason why I have to do this cos some RSS feeds have been embedded with HTML code to show the images in the feed and those could be lost if the author deleted those images. I want to keep those images as my reference but happen automatically. Anyone knows any apps that can do what i want or automator can do this or not?
    Thank you.

What you are wanting to do is very easy. Check out the examples that ship with LV. You will find code for doing data acquisition, signal analysis and program architecture. You might also want to consider getting some good training to answer your basic question, or go through the getting started materials that ship with LV.

  • HT1819 Can I update podcast RSS feed without deleting current location?

I have changed where my podcast are hosted so I am trying to figure what I need to do on iTunes. Can the RSS feed be updated or do I have to start a brand new podcast?

If you don't have access to the old feed to add the redirection tag to it you can't redirect iTunes yourself. Email Support at podcasts 'at' apple.com and ask them to do it for you - give them the Store URL and the URLs of both feeds.

  • Belle update and RSS-feeds

How put rss-feeds to widget or shortcut as it was in Anna ?
    I have x7-phone

I have provided some steps below that may help.
Step 1 – Try completing a soft reset on the device. I have provided the instruction in an article below:
Power off the device and remove the battery
    http://support.vzw.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=33747
Step 2 – Remove the widget and icon off the devices home screen and clear out the data and cache. I have provided the instruction article below:
Clear data, Clear cache (if applicable), and Clear defaults
    http://support.vzw.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=34831
Step 3 – Put the device into safe mode. Safe mode is a method that allows the device to run without non-essential applications. This is beneficial for troubleshooting 3rd party applications. I have provided the instruction in an article below:
    http://support.vzw.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=34184
If it works correctly in safe mode, there may be a application not native to the device causing the issue
