- reinstall os x mountain lion + 10.8.5 combo update
- remove itunes and reinstall it
current system: 10.8.5

I have exactly the same problem on a MBP 13" Late 2012, Core i7 (dual), 16GB RAM

/Library/Updates
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu. A folder should open. Move the contents to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password.

I am having issues with Creative Cloud updates and installations.
None of my Apps will update. I am prompted to update, I click the update button, Cloud says "updating software" but all attempts stop at 0%.
Similar issues Installing Apps. Installations start but all stop at 90%. No error messages at all.
This is extremely frustrating and all my Apps are in need of updates to fix minor bugs which are effecting my workflow.
    Can you help?

We can't know. You have not provided any exact system info or other details like the install/ update logs. You can always run the cleaner and start from scratch.

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Select "/var/log/install.log" from the file list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar. Then select the messages from the last installation or update attempt, starting from the time when you initiated it. If you're not sure when that was, start over and note the time. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.

  • Dashboard, Updater and installer quitting after 10.4.7 update

Since I did the last update for software and installed the 10.4.7 update many of my applications are behaving strange. Widgets, updater and installer quit unexpectedly when started up.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem and/or what caused it?
    Thank you!

  • Software Update and Installer Crash after system update

I updated to 10.4.11 and seems like ever since that Safari won't open and the software updater won't open - they both give the same message - it's the unexpectedly quit dialog box.
Someone mentioned the update was a little corrupt so i went and downloaded the updated update and when i run the .pkg, the installer intro screen opens, i click continue and then it crashes in the same manner as the previous two apps. I have verified permissions several times, tried dragging the cache folder (in both spots) to the desktop and everything is still not working. Any more suggestions. I really don't want to do a clean install. Thanks in advance.

If you upgraded from OS 9, did you first install the Firmware Update, if needed?
Do the install CDs that you used, look like These?
What size is your Hard Drive, and how much space is available?
How much RAM is installed, and is it original or added?
    Have you run Repair Permissions?

In the "Digital Signature Details" dialog, click "View Certificate"
In the  "Certificate" dialog, click "Install Certificate..."
In the "Certificate Import Wizard" dialog, select "Local Machine" (though current user might work, didn't use it, so I can not attest to it) and click "Next"

  • Update and restore error messages on iPod touch 2nd Gen

Hi folks I'm searching for a solution for the error message I have received when i connected my Ipod touch to my PC. I got notification that there was an update for Itunes available and would i like to download, i chose not to at this time as all i wanted to do was quickly put some music onto the ipod touch. I also had a notification that there was new software updates for the ipod itself, being how have had some of the issues this update was supposed to fix I clicked to download update and install.
since then i have had an error message telling me i now had to Restore my ipod, As it is in recovery mode due to an error occuring during software update. I didnt want to do this as i have not synced the Ipod to the PC in quite some time and had purchased content via itunes and appstore on the ipod itself and was affraid i'd lose all this.
I realised i had to restore to sort the issue out and have been trying in vain to restore the ipod for 2 days now. Every 'fix' or 'solution' on the help page has failed so far. the error message help page is here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275
i have done everything on that list and still the issue wont go away, the number in brackets relating to the error message i receive is (14) every time.
I have a log of the last attempt to restore and failing which i copied before sending the information off to Apple. If anyone can help i'll be eternally grateful.
my ipod is a 16gig 2nd gen touch and obviously since its somehow in recovery mode i cant use it at all, and all i have on the screen is the usb cable and the itunes icon.

    ok update:
I was looking at other threads that had similar issues as I'm having, I decided to dig in the PC a bit, i went to My computer/C drive/Documents and settings/<user name>/Application Data/Apple Computer/iTunes/iPod Software updates
to get the Application Data folder to become visible goto the Tools heading and select Folder Options, goto the View tab, then click the radio button that has "Show hidden files and folders" next to it, click apply, click ok. The application Data folder now appears in the directory.
I then Deleted everything inside the iPod Software updates folder.
Turned off my Anti virus and went to http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/
I selected my iPod and downloaded the update to my pc. Opened iTunes and shift clicked restore, i found the recently downloaded update on my desktop and installed it. Now my iPod has finally restored! success! yes!!
so now that we have got the iPod working again i need to know, since it is totally blank now what can i do about retrieving the songs, movies, apps and games i have paid for via the ipod touch itself? I have spent a lot of money on these and would like them back. Any ideas folks?
I can see my purchase history when im in iTunes i goto the Store tab and select my account. its all listed there but no option to re-download the content.
Thanks for any help on the matter

I had itunes on my Dell laptop, i downloaded an apple update and now I get error message widows 126 and error message MSVCR80.dll. Help please.

    Hi Gabriel,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you are receiving errors in Windows after updating iTunes, I recommend completely removing and reinstalling the software using the instructions in this article:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
When reinstalling iTunes (step 3 in the article above), be sure that you are logged in to your computer as an Administrator:
Make sure you have an administrator account.
To install iTunes or QuickTime, you need to log in as an administrator on the computer. If you're not sure you have an administrator account, you may find this Microsoft article helpful: Windows 7: How do I log on as an administrator? You can refer to the Help documentation from Microsoft, contact your IT department, or visit support.microsoft.com for more information.

  • Update rules installation error for BI statistics

    Hi all,
I am trying to activate the update rules for the BI statistics cubes and am getting the below error.
"Object Update rules CSE83E58JTY9E8RQFR74SB5P3: Error installing the Content version
    Message no. RSO431"
I am able to install the cubes and info sources/data sources but not the update rules.
Our system is on below versions:
    SAP_BW     701     0004     SAPKW70104
    BI_CONT     703     0014     SAPKIBIIQ4
Please guide if you have come across into the same.
    Thanks,
    Ramana

I think you're going to have to open an SAP Message for this issue. There is an OSS Note that perfectly matches the description of the error you're getting, but because you're on BI 7.0 EHP1, the change in that OSS Note is already made in the affected Class and Methods.

  • IWeb Update and publishing errors

I have just installed the latest iWeb update and now I have a chronic publishing error of which I can not seem to fix? The error message states:
*+An error occurred while publishing file “/Web/Sites/Sites.rss”. Try publishing again later.+*
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have rebooted; reinstalled the updates; download "all to .Mac" and even "downloaded all to folder"...it is when I try publishing directly or via "all to .Mac" that I receive this frustrating error.

I too am having htis problem. The solution suggested can't be done for me as there is no 'Web' folder on my iDisk. Maybe this is because I set up my account a while ago, before iWeb was introduced. Maybe I need to get in touch with Apple to get them to create a Web folder for me. (I tried myself, but don't have privileges.

  • Installing system updates and getting error saying photoshop is unavailable try again later. Can't upload raw NEF images until I install this update. Help!

I am using photoshop elements 9 and need to upload a session of photos I just took in NEF raw, but it gives me an error saying it cannot open the photos. I read in another forum that this probably means I don't have the latest update installed. I try to get the update and it gives me an error saying that photoshop is unavailable and to try again later. I am on a time crunch and need to figure this out asap if possible! Any help is greatly appreciated!

  • Can I reset the Machine to Factory, but keep software updates and installs?

I have a Loan Mac Mini for Tech Support and Macintosh Evangelism. I loan it out to customers when I'm fixing their Windows Boxes, so they have something to use in the Interim, and to encourage them to Get A Mac.
Is there a way of installing all relevant Software Updates and installing 3rd party Drivers and software, but still allowing my Customers to have the full 'Macintosh Experience' with the Welcome screen, migration tool, et al.
Two ways I can think of doing this is Restoring MacOSX on it, installing the Software Updates and 3rd Party software from a Different Machine, but not all packages allow installation to a Non-Boot Drive.
The other way is to Create an Admin Account, Install all the Software Updates and 3rd Party software, and then remove the Admin Account.
    Anyone have any Ideas?

Start with a search for AppleSetupDone. Among those threads, you should find how to do what you want.

  • All updates and installs freeze

A few days ago I checked for updates and a bunch of apps were updated, so I clicked "update". Then, the progress bars made it to the right but then stayed there.
After a long wait I quit the update application. Now, all the apps that were updating have a little blue dot in the launcher, and they don't start. Clicking them goes to the app catalog page for that app with the mention "installing"... and no progress.
I also cannot buy new apps: it downloads fine and then the catalog just shows "installing" forever. The app has the same blue dot.
Just for info, I dropped my phone a few days back - but I don't expect that would have caused it, would it?
I tried changing the date (as per the earlier app catalog debacle), but this had no effect. Can someone please help me? A third of my apps are unusable and I can't install new ones - that makes me very unhappy about this phone.

How are you restarting your device? You need to go to Device Info, Reset Options, Restart. If this is how you have tried your restart then you can try an Erase Apps & Data from the same menu. Bear in mind that this does delete all PIM (contacts, calendar, notes and tasks) and application data off your device, and it will have to be reloaded from your backup such as Palm profile, Google, MS Exchange, etc.
If neither of these options works you can try WebOS Doctor. This is available at www.palm.com/rom, you would enter your device serial # and follow the steps on the web page. This repairs the operating system on the device if it is damaged.
