Update apache to 1.3.34?

Ho do i upgrade apache 1.3.33 (preinstalled in osx) to the latest patched version, 1.3.34?

Hi, If you want easy and official from Apple - you have to wait for them to test and release it as part of the normal software update.
If you want to jump ahead - you can download the source and install a compiler and compile things for yourself. That can be tricky if you are not used to unix compilation - but many here do it.
Most people that go the "jump ahead route" use Fink or DarwinPorts and go for Apache 2
http://fink.sourceforge.net/
http://darwinports.opendarwin.org/
I see that darwinports has the version you requested ready (I use fink myself) - so if you just need that and want it quick and easy - I'd start there...

  • Will Apple update Apache / MySQL / PHP on Tiger 10.4.11

Recently, a scan was made on the two xServes that I have, both running 10.4.11 with only the web services set up. They are running the default bare bones setup for Tiger Server 10.4.11.
The scan showed issues with the current install of Apache and PHP. I have been told I need to update the serves to a more secure version of Apache, Mysql, and PHP.
Does anyone know if Apple is going to issue an update for this? Is my only option to patch together a more recent version of Apache, Mysql, and PHP to patch this?
Or is Apple's answer to my dilemma is to just upgrade to Leopard?
    Thanks for your comments.

Your choices here fairly limited; there's the upgrade Leopard, loading (for instance) the [MAMP|http://mamp.info] kit or other such kit and shut down the integrated stuff within Mac OS X Server, or rolling your own Apache and related pieces. If these are Intel Xserve boxes, then you could tactfully and officially drag your heels for a couple of months and upgrade to Snow Leopard.

  • Updating Apache OSX 10.3

Hi, Im having issues trying to update the default installed version of Apache on OSX 10.3 to the current Apache version. I can use web services just fine but due to security reasons and the fact that the server is located on University grounds I need to update the machine.
Anyone have any guides or suggestions on where to start?

Hello Don,, I have never utilized Apple Support since i bought my iMac in 3/01! Currently i have been in **** trying to do simple things like log into Paypal. More importantly, I obtained an iPod and it needs a minimum system of 10.3.9 operating system. So, my question is....IS IT POSSIBLE TO UPGRADE MY COMPUTER from 9.1 operating system
to the 10.3.9 ? I never really even updated anything in it! I STILL have iTunes v1.0, and my Internet Explorer is the same from 2001. Any time i attempted to upgrade, it just didn;t work as Firefox would not be supported by the 9.1 operating system/. ALso, i have VERY little funds because i have a chronic pain condition with my legs so don;t work.
I still have DIAL UP modem because DSL/verizon does not work on 9.1.
So, there are SO many reasons i would love to upgrade my computer.
If you can give me any ideas on where to start, i would owe you my first born!(or can give you some rare music DVDs, as i've collected rare music material more than 20 years, so i can always thank you with some if you have interest in the artists i Collect). I hope it is not necessary to obtain a new computer, but if it the 10.3.9 operating system upgrade needs a lot of new memory expansion, it may make more sense to maybe get a new computer. As it is, my CD-r burner has not functioned properly for years. But that;s another story! THANKS FOR ANY HELP! Sandy in NJ

  • Update apache of lms 3.1

    Hi,
According to this link (https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=48359) Apache has some vulnerabilities which we need to address. Is it possible to upgrade apache on the lms server?
    Regards Marco Kerklaan

It turns out this vulnerablity does not affect LMS.
This issue is not affecting the LMS.
Please have a look at the following bug ID.
    http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugToolKit/search/getBugDetails.do?method=fetchBugDetails&bugId=CSCtf54872
as you can see as I suspected we are not using This module in the LMS.
So as a workaround you can safely comment the line
    LoadModule isapi_module modules/mod_isapi.so
    From httpd.conf file.
    Regards Marco.

  • After upgrade to 10.6 Apache is running but port 80 is not open

    Hello,
I just upgraded from 10.5 to 10.6. The server is a simple set up that is only used for web hosting. Everything appears to work fine except the browser can't connect. Server Admin and Activity Monitor shows Apache running. Port scan from another machine does not show 80 or 8080 as open ports. However it does show ftp 21, ssh 22 and others open. I double-checked firewall settings and even turn of the firewall software and it still does not work. The 10.5 setup was a clean install and manual migration from 10.4 so I don't that has anything to do with it. I'm not sure what to try next.
Below is the Setup.log created during the upgrade process:

    Thanks for your help.
I discovered that there was an issue with the virtual host config files. I am not sure why but the problem passed the Apache startup routine. I discovered the offending VH config file by turning them all off and reactivating them one at a time. The real head scratcher is why I couldn't scan or ping port 80 during the problem.

  • Connecting tomcat to apache.

Hello, I seek help in connecting apache to tomcat.
    I followed this guide
    http://johnturner.com/howto/winxp-howto.html
    I have
    WinXP SP2 fully updated
    Apache 2.0.55
    jakarta-tomcat-4.1.31
    j2sdk-1_4_2_11-windows-i586-p
    mod_jk-2.0.55.so
everything I think is installed correctly, my Problem is, tomcat will not auto generate a mod_jk.conf as it is supose to.
    Anyone have any advice?
    thank you.

so any idea why it was causing the problem... Already answered. service() is supposed to invoke doGet() or doPost() or doPut() etc etc depending on the request. You overrode that to not do that anymore, so you had broken it completely.
Normally the only times anyone overrides service() is if they put ALL of the logic that would have otherwise been in doGet()/doPost()/doPut() etc etc inside service() instead. Even then, I would generally consider it bad practice to ever override this method.

  • Multiple versions of Apache and PHP

I'm setting up a new Xserve with Apache2 and PHP5. I understand that Xserves ship with Apache2 and Apache 1.1 already installed and when I do
    httpd -v
it reports back the older version of Apache. When I do
    php -v
    it reports back version 4.4.1.
At the time I investigated this, I didn't know Apple had pre-installed Apache2 so I installed it via Fink and FinkCommander. When I installed it originallyl from the entropy.ch files, asking httpd for its version reported the older version even though the System Preference pane said that Apache2 was up and running. What is going on that both are running simultaneously?
After installing Apache2 via Fink, httpd now properly reports its version as 2.0.55... which is what I would expect after properly updating Apache from 1 to 2.
I'm experiencing something similar with my PHP5 installation via Fink. Asking terminal for php -v reports version 4.4.1, however when I query PHP through a web script running phpinfo() it reports back in the web browser as being version 5.0.4.
So, what triggers the command line to report back different versions of installed web services than other methods? Why does my webpage through phpinfo() report back 5.0.4 where terminal says php -v is 4.4.1? Does it even matter? Does this mean two copies of PHP are running? What turned on the old version? I thought PHP had to be triggered by a PHP request. Why does Apache2, when insttalled through one method still report the older version when queried through terminal, but installed a idffererent way report the new version? Why did that not seem to afffect the ability for Apache2 to run properly? What does the version, as reported through terminal, of a given web service even mean if multiple versions of web services can run simultaneously and multiple reports of those versions can return different results? For that matter, how can I then truly verify that the version running is the version I installed? It wasn't until terminal reported my version of httpd as being 2.0.55 until I felt like the Apache2 installation was truly successful. Was I overthinnking the problem? Is there even a problem? Aaaagghghgh!!!!!!

Ahhh!!!! OK, that makes a ton of sense. I checked the PATH environment variable and see what you're talking about.
This kind of leads to a follow up question . If I do a
    php -v
and I get back some information about some version of php installed at some path referenced in the environment variable, how can I tell what path OS X found the php command in? Is there any way to say, "Hey, computer, tell me where you think php is located." Because there are seven or eight paths I could search in, but it seems like a trivial matter for the computer to just tell me where it's looking, rather than me hunting for the command file.
It also seems that fink has installed /sw paths into my environment variable for me and that my apache httpd command is located in one of these but my new installation of php5 is not. That's really what was tripping me up was that I hadn't modified the environment variable for $PATH myself and some things were reporting properlly and others were not. Fink did most of the work I expected, but not all, leading to a confusing version report.

  • Index.php not being pulled up after update

So i updated Apache and PHP, and updated the Apache config removing everything i was told to (Which i believe are 5 modules) Then added in 1-2 modules after that as well as added a line to the include section (All this was from the LAMP Wiki which is where i was told to check for the new method)
When i go to localhost it shows a /srv/http as a directory instead of loading my index.php, however if i click on index.php it loads it with no issue, so PHP is fine, im just assuming Apache doesn't understand how to use PHP and i forgot a step or missed a step, i've re looked over and over and cant find anything out of place, so i just want to know if maybe there was a different document i should have read which included a step i may have missed from following the Wiki
    Any suggestions are welcome
      ~Kitkin15

Yea i had everything working, and with the modules i removed i actually just commented them out after the update. (Can't post till i find all my files, read below)
And where do i edit that at? I tried looking under /etc/apache/httpd.conf but /etc/apache doesn't exist.... /etc/apaghe-ant/ does however.
I'm really confused because i opened the file 2 days ago and I did a few updates since and PHP and Apache updated, so did they change the directory?
Also, i installed Apache via pacman and not AUR. I even double checked to make sure i didn't do it a few months back.

  • Apache versions

Our security team is asking that I update Apache from 2.2.3 to 2.2.16. Has anyone tried updating Apache higher than what comes with SLES10 and/or do we know of a limitation with Webaccess?
    Thanks

    Thats a good idea.

Which version of SLES10? Latest version of SLES10 is SLES10 SP4.
As Massimo has already said, Novell/SUSE back port security-related fixes
to earlier versions of Apache for stability reasons.
If you are that worried about security perhaps you should upgrade your
servers to SLES11 (SP2 is latest release)?
In the meantime you could change your Apache configuration so that Apache
doesn't disclose so much information that could've used to determine
version and (possible) vulnerabilities - edit /etc/sysconfig/apache2 and
    change APACHE_SERVERTOKENS and/or APACHE_SERVERSIGNATURE.
    HTH.

  • Upgrade for apache ??

    Hi,
I notice that the version of apache supplied on the mac is v1.3.3 (?) is this just a mac version number ?
Will/does Apple update apache ? the latest release of apache I saw was v2.2.
If Apple don't update apache, should I try to update it by installing the latest version myself. I hesitate to do it as for sure, there will be issues which I no nothing about. Perhaps someone can point out a few of the major ones.
    Thanks.
    K.

"all plugin modules need to be rewritten to work with apache 2.x."
Will Apple do this, do you think?
I would expect so, I just have no idea when - at some point 1.3.x is going to fall off the edge of supported software from apache.org. They're not the only ones in this situation, though - a number of vendors ship apache 1.3-based solutions and will need to update their products for apache 2.x
FWIW, Mac OS X Server ships with both 1.3 and 2.0 in the box - you can choose to enable 2.x, although the admin tools are still geared around 1.3.

  • [solved] (oops) critical suphp problem with apache

    Hi,
After updating apache I am getting these errors in my logfiles:
"terminate called after throwing an instance of 'suPHP::LookupException'"
This happened also after recompiling suphp from the aur. I'm at a loss, how can I solve this?

Never mind, I found it out soon after posting. Sometimes you have to externalize the problem before you can figure it out yourself, right?
this exception occurs when the files' uid/gid files do not exist on the server. Weird way to complain, huh?
Anyway, maybe it will help someone else in the future. Solved!

  • [SOLVED] apache forces UTF-8 charset

    Hello all!
After recent update, apache begin to force output of UTF-8 charset in Content-type header. AddDefaultCharset seems to be ignored both in .htaccess and in virtual host configuration. Does anybody know where this issue come from? Not all parts of the world are ready for UTF-8 yet because of tons of legacy code.
    Thanks in advance.
UPDATE: Not related to apache, but to php. default_charset in php.ini was need to be set to the empty string.

    To answer myself:
              CR216621
Changes made by mod_rewrite to the URI are reflected only to request_rec->uri. Hence, the Apache plug-in now uses request_rec->uri by default.
Also, a new property, WLForwardUriUnparsed, has been added. When it is set to ON, the Apache plug-in uses request_rec->unparsed_uri instead of request_rec->uri.
Note: The Apache plug-in with WLForwardUriUnparsed set to ON does not work correctly with mod_rewrite.

  • Reinstall Apache

    Hi,
I updated a library (libpng) and now Apache is complaining that it can't find it. I used homebrew to install the latest ImageMagick (required by a Ruby Gem to code in Ruby). It seems to have installed a more recent version of libpng and now Apache crashes.
    The error is:
05/04/11 06:43:29 org.apache.httpd[90200] httpd: Syntax error on line 115 of /private/etc/apache2/httpd.conf: Cannot load /opt/local/apache2/modules/libphp5.so into server: dlopen(/opt/local/apache2/modules/libphp5.so, 10): Library not loaded: /opt/local/lib/libpng12.0.dylib\n Referenced from: /opt/local/apache2/modules/libphp5.so\n Reason: image not found
Do you have any idea of how to revert back to the original version or, if possible, update Apache?
    Thanks in advance,
    Juan

    No, it isn't working.
I've checked php.ini and it has no changes.
In my /opt/local/lib dir I've the libpng14 library files, not the libpng12. Do you know if the standard one is libpng12?
If so, Apache httpd.config file points to the old library, so it's seems that somehow this time installing the ImageMagick library -and it's dependencies- updated that library, leaving Apache pointing to the old one.
I've already tried to get the previous version from the backup and Apache then complains about a different library. I guess the chain of dependencies included several of them.
I really think that a way to update Apache could fix this. I just didn't find any Apache package in homebrew.

  • Linux 3.3.8-1-ARCH hangs on Amazon EC2?

Ok, I have been testing an arhc linux setup for a cloud webserver setup on AWS for the last month or so. Until now everything went without a hitch. Today I spin up a new instance to test the updates and I can't get it to come up after rebooting. I'm not very well versed in EC2's quirks and couldn't do much in form of debugging the AMI.
The hits on pacman -Syyu are:
    Replace libusb with core/libusbx
which apparently doesn't affect the behavior
and the following packages are marked for update:
    apache-2.2.22-4 bison-2.5.1-1 dovecot-2.1.7-4 fakeroot-1.18.4-1
    filesystem-2012.6-2 glibc-2.15-11 icu-49.1.2-1
    initscripts-2012.06.1-1 krb5-1.10.2-1 libmysqlclient-5.5.25-1
    linux-3.3.8-1 linux-api-headers-3.3.8-1 mkinitcpio-0.9.2-1
    mysql-5.5.25-1 mysql-clients-5.5.25-1 pinentry-0.8.1-4
    psmisc-22.17-1 rsync-3.0.9-3 sqlite-3.7.13-1 systemd-tools-185-1
I am aware of the filesystem issue so the actual update command is as advised:
pacman -Syu --ignore filesystem && pacman -S filesystem --force
EDIT: I have done the Linux update separately and it is pretty clear that something crashes the vm in either linux-3.3.8-1  or linux-api-headers-3.3.8-1
Any news on that is welcome.
