Update available for another user's apps
I just purchased a brand new iMac & set up two users with separate usernames/passwords. Now the app store says I have updates for apps that I don't have, nor want. These are apps that my wife downloaded under her username/profile.
You are seeing her app updates and she will see your app updates because App Store searches all the hard disk to find App Store apps.
Also, applications are installed by default on a common folder for both users (/Applications), so you can try to move the App Store applications to ~/Applications (being ~ your user folder). Doing this, the other user shouldn't be able to see app updates for your Apple ID as you can't access to one user folder from a different one

Once this is done, 2. If you have an iCloud account, then this would automatically update. Once you are sure that everything is working, delete the old account.

I have an old Macbook Air I have given to my wife. I ha ve created a new user for her, etc, and all looks fine - but App Store still flags up updates for apps I have installed separately - even though I believe Ihave de-authorised the computer for my account.
Any idea why, or how to stop it please?

Yes, delete all content that is associated with your Apple ID's Mac App Store and iTunes Store account; apps, music, videos, etc. You will also need to contact the iTunes/Mac App Store Account Security Team, as suggested by Hackintosh, to have the Mac, it's installed version of OS X and the preinstalled iLife suite disassociated with your Apple ID.
I had never heard the term iLife Apps before.
iLife was a suite of apps that Apple originallyt sold on DVD. Some years ago Apple started giving this suite of apps away for free with the purchase of a new Mac, they came preinstalled on the new Mac. With the advent of the Mac App Store, Apple has moved all of its apps to MAS distribution and no longer sells software on disks, including the iLife apps. There are only three iLife apps now and they can be bought individually from the MAS, but they still come preinstalled on a new Mac for free; iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand. They are associated with the Apple ID of whomever originally sets up a new Mac along with the installed version of OS X. -

The App Store says I have updates for I-Photo and Garage Band. When I try to update I get the following message: You have updates available for other accounts To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it." Both apps came with my computer and as far as I know I only have one Apple account. Any thoughts? Thanks.
KarenThanks for you reply. I'm 99% positive that I'm using the user id and password that I used to set up my computer. That's why I'm stumped. I read the solution someone else suggested (type your user name without @gmail and create a new password. When I tried it, I was asked for my birthday. It didn't recognize it. I know I got my birthday correct. Oh well...

Asphalt 8 winter update available for Win 8.1 users??
Hi, is there an Asphalt 8 winter update available for Windows 8.1. I see there is for iOS, android, and windows phone.
I have had the app for about a year. I re-installed on 12/28/14 hoping to get the update.
The reason I ask was when selecting the new timed events it would say "I need update to race this track" I click on update, then on the store, says already up to date. Why say I need update?
I don't have the new "pro kits", "Token system", new races like the "Sector 8"
Already tried -- to re-install the game in a clean boot state

Also sorry for different FONTS I copy and pasted from other Forums I asked the questionI too am suffering from the same issue. I am a window 8.1 user, playing from my laptop and now I cannot play the Daily Events because it requires an update that continues to say not available.
If it is actually available can you let us know and perhaps email it to us or at least have an explanation on the problem for window 8 players because the lack of info on this is probably the most frustrating part. Not being able to access the latest update
leaves me with just the season 9 to play (the Maxed Out Season) and obviously until your cars are maxed out you can't play the season so basically I am playing nothing.
Needless to say this is very disappointing so again some type of knowledge on what is going on would be greatly appreciated but getting the update would be better. -
App Store says update available for iPhone app. Try to install and get the message "the item you are trying to buy is no longer available" for three apps in a row. Even when I go to the specific app and press Update, the update begins to install then aborts with this error message.iPhone 3GS running iOS 5.1.1. Also very long delay typing each keystroke in this message.
That error message is usually indicative of a problem with the App Store. If you look through the forums, you'll see that a number of people are experiencing the problem. Try again tomorrow.

The Mac App Store shows an update available for iMovie but when I click "update" it gives me this message, "The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed." What can I do to update this program?

I received a notice that there is an update for my Lightroom 5. I have the non-creative cloud version. Is the update available for non-cloud users? It says to download click the link and it takes me to Cloud free trial screen.
It is the same installer. You can run it as 30-days trial (CC version) and decide later for CC or stand-alone. To license as stand-alone, follow this guide.
If you already have the LR6 license key, you can enter it during setup and do not need to follow the guide. -
Install Lync Web App Plugin For Another User
I'm wondering if there is a way to install the plugin for the Lync Web App for another user. The reason why is that administrative permissions are required and our users are not allowed to have those permissions. I have the MSI but when I look at it, it
says
"Cannot install [ProductName].Setting the AllUsers property is not allowed because [ProductName] is a per-user application."
Is there a way that I can install the MSI, maybe through the command line or another method, and specify another user so it installs to their profile?

This is typically achieved by allowing exceptions in your software control strategy for the required executable;
LWAPlugin.exe
LWAVersionPlugin.exe
AppSharingHookController.exe
AppSharingHookController64.exe
This typically occurs in VDI deployments where users are not able to install software onremote server, so the above rule is added to the Software Restriction Policy (providing that's what you're using to control application installation).
I'm not familiar with any associated cmd line switches I'm afraid.

Hi all,
For some time now, my appstore app shows an update available for CodeBox, which I did not buy. When I try to update it it asks for my ID and password (all normal), but then it gives an Unknown Error.
I am 100% sure I didn't buy the app, I do not see any transaction on my card or in the appstore apart of this one, so does not seem to be a hack.
Does anyone know what is happening, this is a tricky thing which is making me lose trust in the payment/account system that Apple is using.

Isidrowell... actually you are right dahveed, i had a dodgy copy of galaxy on fire 2 (boring game), that's what was giving me the issue. i followed your posts about the MAS etc., and discovered this was the problem. Corrected. You're a knowledgable man, thank you

I updated the software without problems; then I tried to update iPhoto, iMovie and Garageband, but an error was displayed "You have updates available for other accounts". I don't have any other account, i tried everything found on the net but nothing seems to work...Please help me!!!!Same thing for me it writes "To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it."

I have a hard time understanding why I can't contact support about THEIR problem. I plugged my iPhone into my pc. iTunes came up. It said there was an update available for the phone. I accepted that. Clicked on the "download only" because I didn't have the time to install it at that point. It downloaded but didn't stop. It continued to the 'backing up your iPhone' segment then froze. I waited at least an hour with no change. Finally I unplugged my phone..iTunes wasn't responding.I rebooted my pc then tried the same thing again. Same outcome even though I let it "Back Up" for 7-8 hrs while I slept. Same Story............... iTunes 10.4.0.80 is the software I'm using. When my phone is 'plugged' in what I see on it's face is "Sync in Progress".....for hours!

I have 2 Macs, a 2008 Mac Pro running 10.8.5 and a 2009 MacBook Pro running 10.9.0, soon to be downgraded to 10.8.5. I can't install the Xcode update on either Mac, and I can't update MacTracker on my Mac Pro, which suggests that no updates work at all.
When I try to update, it says "You have updates available for other accounts" and "Sign in to ________ to update applications for that account." I'm already signed into that account. I tried logging out, closing the App Store, and logging back in. Then I tried logging out of both the App Store and iTunes as per a fix I found online, and it gave me "Unknown error" once I tried to update.
Is there a fix for this or at least a regular .pkg I can just install? Honestly, it's easier to update stuff in Debian Linux than on OS X 10.8 and up now.Please try each of the following steps you haven't already taken, until the issue is resolved. After each step, relaunch the App Store and try again.
1. Follow the instructions in this Apple Support article.
2. If any App Store purchases were made under a different Apple ID, or if the bundled iLife applications were accepted under a different ID, sign in to the App Store with that ID to update.
3. Alternatively, delete the probem applications and re-download them with the ID you're using now. If you haven't already purchased them with that ID, you'll have to do that first, because purchases can't be transferred from one account to another.
4. Select the Purchased tab in the App Store window. If you see an item in the list marked "You have 3 apps to accept," click Accept.
5. Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/adoption.plist
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
