Update available on BB Desktop Software

What should I do and how can I do If my Blackberry Desktop Manager informed me that there's 'Update available'?? Is it automatically will update my OS? Will the process will be easy? Tell me the process! Thanks.

after the update, your device will reboot, upon the reboot you will need to go through the wizard again... during the wizard.. you need to turn your network on... it asks you and you say yes... then after wizard is done... goto options.. host routing table... menu... register now
please do a backup befre you do the upgrade and pull out your media card if you have one

  • Latest Organizer update in the Blackberry Desktop Software does not sync Outlook 'all day events' in Calendar properly

    On my Blackberry Torch 9810:
When syncing with Microsoft Outlook 2007 for an 'all day event' in Calendar, Outlook stores the appointment as from 12:00am to 12:00am so Blackberry Organizer thinks it is an appointment for 2 days rather than one.
So for example if you make an 'all day event' entry for Feb 25 in Outlook, Blackberry Organizer syncs it on the device as an "all day event" on Feb 25 and Feb 26.  Very annoying indeed!
Technically Outlook should store it as 12:00am to 11:59pm for a one day
event.    But since they don't, I hope Blackberry will fix Desktop Organizer
Software to cope with this issue and send out a new update!
Does anyone know anything about this?

I was getting a similar problem... birthday and anniversary and some other all-day events (but not all!) in Outlook were being set to either 1pm-1pm or 2pm-to-2pm, from the day before to the day of the actual event.  e.g. my New Years Day event was being set as starting 31 Dec 1pm and ending 1 Jan 1pm.  The 2pm vs 1pm difference seemed to correlate to the times of the year without/with daylight savings.
Presumably I'm seeing 1pm or 2pm and not 12am-12am due to my own time zone (GMT +10).
I made the change recommended by Bifocals and it has fixed this problem.  However, I did need to -manually- go through and change all the events in Outlook back to be proper all day events - that did not happen automatically.
For those (like I was) wondering how to set the "the corresponding options on the Blackberry"... you open the Blackberry Calendar, then hit the application button, then scroll to Options then General Options.  The Start of Day and End of Day settings are what need to match Outlook.  FYI, I have a Bold 9000 and am using Outlook 2007.
I'm really hoping that when I next upgrade my Blackberry software that it retains this setting change.  I find it really annoying that some (or all?) other settings (e.g. Mobile Network: Data Services & While Roaming) are reset to defaults on every software upgrade, meaning I have to remember what I set and to go back and set them again after an upgrade.  Grrrrr.....

  • Updated OS via BB Desktop Software then it says there's a newer version which is lower!

I updated my BB 9700 two days ago via BBDS to 6.0 Bundle 2949 (v6.0.0.668, Platform 6.6.0.236). When I reconnect today it tells me that there's an updated version, which is the version I upgraded from two days ago, i.e. 6.0 Bundle 2921 (v6.0.0.666, Platform 6.6.0.241). I notice that the numbering is higher in my current version, except for the Platform number, which is lower.

  • Desktop Software 6 - not working properly

I had to upgrade my phone today: my 8310 was playing up so I got a new 9300. I've so far spent the ENTIRE day trying to sort it out... I previously had Desktop Software 4.2.2 which had worked very nicely with the 8310, but when syncing data from Outlook 2007 to the 9300 it started to crash so I updated to the latest Desktop Software (v6).
Not only is it a good deal slower, but it keeps losing my Outlook Contacts link - saying not installed! I finally found out that the 9300 is a lot more sensitive to data than the 8310 (some of my contacts had non-sequential email addresses where I had deleted, say, an email address and left the second one as was), so fixed those up and got it synced - once. Now the application has lost the link again.
Any ideas - I'd LOVE to go back to 4.2.2 but can't find it anywhere. Anyone got any ideas?

  • Bold 9900 won't update using desktop software

    hello,
I have mountain lion on my Mac - using desktop software to update my bold 9900 to 7.1.0.2061.
It gets stuck after backing up third party applications and I get the error message - The device data could not be backed up, ensure that you can backup data on your device and try again.
I have done a factory reset and still same message.  What is the problem?  It won't run the update at all.  Have backed up using blackberry protect as desktop software won't back up.
    Any ideas?
    thanks!

This could be caused by a third-party application. Have you tried to uninstall non critical "exotic" apps before launching the backup process?
Secondly, do you have enough space available on your computer hard disk?
The backup function works as expected on my Mac for 3 different BB devices.

  • Unable to update to OS 6.0 Bundle 2647 either wirelessly or via Desktop Software for Mac

I have a BB Torch 9800 and I've tried all I know to update the system software on my BB wirelessly but it gives me the message "Update cannot continue, Update using BB Desktop Manager on your computer". So I plugged my BB in but it doesn't give me a prompt or anything to update and I'm not sure what's wron. Help please!

    Hello azureJTR,
I'm not sure if you have solved your issue yet or not...
To update your BlackBerry's operating system on a Mac is a simple procedure but you can only upgrade to the level that your wireless carrier has released to. I see you're using Bell and they are usually quick to update their offerings.
    Follow this guide item:
    http://docs.blackberry.com/en/smartphone_users/deliverables/32688/Update_device_applications_2.0_Mac...
New available versions of the BlackBerry's OS are shown when you click the "Show Other Versions" button. (Your BlackBerry needs to be connected for the Desktop software to know both what applications you have installed and the Operating System).
If a newer version than the one you currently have loaded is available in that menu, then do a backup then highlight the item then follow the onscreen commands.

  • Sending the UNIX command to install updates over Remote Desktop returns No Updates Available, but they appear when I manually check in the App Store. Why?

We use profile manager to set the URL for the Software Updates on a server inhouse, and the clients see the updates when I open the app store on their iMac, but when I try to send the update command to all Macs through Remote Desktop, RD is returning that there are no updates available.

Why does this happen? Do we really have to manually update each client or is there something wrong?

  • Desktop software 6.0.0.40 bundle 42 available on dropbox

Yes, I've a copy of the Desktop software available on my dropbox. It's version 6.0.0.40 bundle 42..
    https://www.dropbox.com/sh/utykw31zlihs9mr/YoCZLQa3yn
I removed also version 7 and replace it for the "old" CD-version 6.0.0.40 bundle 42. After this it was working well again in combination with my BB9780.
    I'm working with Windows7 and Outlook 2010.
I don't know if this is allowed but I think that Blackberry should be happy that someone is doing this because from BB site untill now not any kind of support. You can not communicate with a company hows selling communication equipment. Strange isn't

Desktop Manager won't "scrub" anything unless you tell it do so, of course you've posted very little detail of what you've done, so it's hard to say.
To restore your Address Book, use Desktop Manager > Backup/Restore > Advanced and select ONLY the Address Book data and click on the center right-facing arrow to move that data to the device.
If that is not working for you, perhaps you can post some detail of what you see there.

    Hello,
Please check carefully these instructions, most importantly the part about deleting VENDOR.XML file(s).
    1) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
    2) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed
    http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/?lid=us:bboftwareesktopSoftware&lpos=us:bboftware
    3) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    4) If that OS package is from a carrier other than the carrier for which your BB was originally manufactured, then delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
    Now, use this process:
KB10144 How to force the detection of the BlackBerry smartphone using Application Loader
    freexrythem wrote:
"There is no  BlackBerry® Software available."
Most often, that message is the result of one (or more) of the following:
There is no BB OS package installed to the PC, and there is nothing available from the carrier (as represented by the VendorID hardcoded into the device)
There is a BB OS package installed to the PC, but it is from a different (per VendorID) carrier, and the VENDOR.XML file(s) have not been deleted (which causes the installed package to be ignored)
There is more than one BB OS package installed to the PC...which can confuse the Loader tool
    Good luck!
