Update bei neuem Rechner auf Mountain Lion
ich habe das Mac Book Air neu gekauft mit noch dem Betriebssystem Lion. Man hat mir gesagt, wenn ich das Mac Book registriere bekomme ich automatisch das neue Mountain Lion Betriebssystem zugesandt. Bisher ist dies nicht passiert. Was muss ich tun?

Have you tried starting in Safe Mode and see if the slowness still occurs?
Restart holding the "shift" key.
(Expect it to take longer to start this way because it runs a directory check first.)
If this works look in System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login items and delete any third party login items (-), you can always add them back with the (+). Also look in /Library/Startup Items. Nothing is put in that folder by default, so anything in there is yours.
Reboot normally and test. -
when I updated my mac mini to mountain lion it gave me an icon on my desktop of a hard drive, can I delete this?
Open the General tab of the Finder's preferences and set it not to be displayed on the desktop. Alternatively, if it's a disk image or external disk, just drag it to the Trash.

I have a free agent desk 500 GB external hard drive. Since updating my iMac OS to Mountain Lion it no longer backs up through Time Maching like it did in the past. Now, after completing its work it says, "Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while creating the backup folder." I cannot find any sites that help me fix this. Do I need to purchase a new external hard drive?

I just purchased a MacBook Pro Retina. Checked my OSX and it is version 10.8.1... trying to find a way to upgrade to a higher version. In the app store it doesnt show the update nor downloading the new Mountain Lion OXS doesnt work. Please help

Not yet. There was an upgrade page to 10.8.2 for the late 2012 models but it's down now. I have to assume that Apple pulled it because of some bugs. I would look for something next week, more likely than not. In the meantime, the OP should be good with 10.8.1 until the update shows up again.

Hi I just updated from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion.
I write DVD's using Final Cut Pro, creating a DVD that plays HD and Standard Definition on one disk.
My problem is when I used load the disk on my G5 it would ask if you want High Definition or Standard Definition, now it just defaults to Standard Definition.(I'm using Apple's DVD Player)
Can I fix this problem?Addendum: I read on a post here (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=420169) about removing some kext files in order to trick OSX into thinking that there were no FireWire ports.
I followed the instructions and removed from /System/Library/Extensions/ the following files:
IOFireWireSerialBusProtocolTransport.kext
IOFireWireAVC.kext
IOFireWireFamily.kext
IOFireWireIP.kext
IOFireWireSBP2.kext
I restarted and BAM...Snow Leopard booted crazy fast and the mouse and keyboard worked instantly.
The System Profiler says "No FireWire ports were found."
So this tells me that the FW port is probably the culprit and is messing up the installation.
So how do I hack the Mountain Lion installer and tell it to ignore the FW port, which is obviously quite dead? Or is there something I can do to the Base system that is similar? -
Lightroom auf Mavericks viel langsamer als auf Mountain Lion
habe gestern von Jared Platt (der weiß was er tut) gehört dass bei ihm LR unter Mavericks viel langsamer läuft als unter Mountain Lion. Also sein Imac (SSD und alles bestens) viel langsamer als sein MBPro.
Ich stehe davor von Snow Leopard upzugraden und überlege daher auf ML zu setzen (Mav ist mir auch aus einigen Gründen unsympathisch). Wie sehen eure Erfahrungen aus?
Übrigens , mein MBPro early 2011 8,2 werd ich dieser Tage mit 500 GB SSD und 16 GB RAM ausstatten...

vielen Dank für die schnelle Antwort und Entschuldige bitte die verspätete Rückmeldung. Ich habe mich durch diene Anregung erst einmal schlau gemacht ob es unter Mac OSX so etwas gibt wie eine Registry, dem ist nicht so.
Habe lightroom deinstalliert und anschliessend einen Neustart mit bereinigung des Systemcaches durchgeführt. Danach Lightroom von der DVD Installiert noch einmal einen Neustart durchgeführt und Lightroom gestartet, nach der Eingabe der Seriennummer erscheint wieder der Grüne Haken und wenn ich dann auf fertigstellen Klicke schließt sich wieder das Fenster und nichts passiert mehr.
Hat also Leider nicht funktioniert.
Werde mich noch mal an den Verkäufer wenden denn im Angebot stand nichts von einer Oem Version!

IPhoto update impossible after upgrading to Mountain Lion?
I upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion today and when I subsequently went into the iCloud settings I was surprised to learn my version (9.1.3) of iPhoto was not capable of supporting iCloud. The information stated if iPhoto had not been installed from the App Store, then one should go the the apple icon in the top left corner and select "Software Update" from there. When I do that, it is reported I do not have an update available. However, if I open iPhoto and check for an update from its menu, it indicates an update (two, actually) is available but when I click the "Open Software Update" button, I am directed back to the App Store where...no update available is the information provided.
I would really like to use iCloud Photo Stream and is one of the reasons I ponied up $20 to "upgrade" to Mountain Lion. Could someone tell me what I am doing wrong? I have been a MS/Windows user for 20+ years and this initial exposure to difficulties with the Mac OS is not what I expected.

Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it. The purpose of this test is to determine whether your problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs. The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Try the download while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.
