Update BIOS Failed on Tecra R10 with Windows7

Hello,
I have problems with updating the BIOS of my Tecra R10J. The current version is 1.4, and I want to update it to 3.0, so i have downloaded from Toshiba web site the correct file named "P006Cv300.exe" released from 11/04/2009. This is a BIOS update ONLINE into a real session of Windows 7. Simply, right click the compress exe, click run as admin and that's all but ......... for me it said :
*"[Error] The starting of service was aborted. User does not have administrator privileges"*
see below :
http://perso.orange.fr/100mo/bioserror.jpg
I've tried it with :
- closed AV, Firewall, etc ...
- disable UAC
- Run as administrator
- Tried with an another admin account
- Safe mode (bios update does not support safe mode)
- direct local administrator session
No change. Still the message "User does not have administrator privileges".
Need help please, found nothing on Google (similar Bios problem but not solved !!!!!)
Thank you

Hi and thanks for your reply.
Yes my Tecra was delivered with Vista and not 7 but the bios update i've downloaded is "os independant". I can't believe that i must reinstall Vista for successful upgrading BIOS !! It's a joke ?
When i download the bios update on Toshiba website i choose "Tecra R10" and "Windows 7 64 bits" and then donwloaded the corresponding file.
Now I 've installed VAP, reboot notebook and now i have always the same error *but i found these errors in the eventviewer immediately after executing bios update* :
+\SystemRoot\SysWow64\Drivers\Aspi32.SYS has been blocked from loading due to incompatibility with this system. Please contact your software vendor for a compatible version of the driver.+
and
+The Aspi32 service failed to start due to the following error: This driver has been blocked from loading+
and
+The NCHGBIOS2SVC service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified.+
Any idea ?
Thank you ;)

Sounds like something wonky with your Windows install. I'd avoid doing a BIOS update through such an install.

  • Updating BIOS failed because it says computer needs insert system battery.

I was updating the BIOS for my Toshiba model number L755-55158 and it downloaded the update fine and when it was going to install it says insert system battery. The computer is plugged into the power outlet so it is not asking for the battery that powers the computer. I think it is asking for some battery that I am not aware of. This computer is very new, I bought about a week ago. So why is the BIOS not updating from Toshiba Service Station? Is a BIOS update crucial?

I think that the Bios update is just wanting to make sure that there is almost no chance of the computer failing during the Bios installation. So it is asking if the main battery is installed and fully charged prior to running the Bios update. Beyond power cord and the fully charged battery being in the computer, I would also want to make sure that no other programs are open or unsaved files. Once while doing a Bios update, I had a Word document open. Without giving me a chance to save and close, the Bios update rebooted the computer. Lost only a few minutes of work, but it was annoying.

  • Updating bios failed p67a-gd55

i have tried everything i know, cleared cmos, taken out bios battery for a few hours, taken all my hardware out that i don't need. but i cant fix it

Hold the phone! I thought he gave the forum flash method using the special archive with the flash tool. Yes, the forum flasher is the safe way to do it, but the file he gives is not for the forum flash method.
This will not works, because he[topic starter] already started BIOS update using MSI's All in one archive file
So he stuck to endless MSI update process, MSI .exe updater is not good designed,
because it starts flashing and if there is a problem writing to ME region it will stuck with no chance to flash back, leave the board in half flashed bricked state.
If we assumed that he didn't started this update via MSI .exe updater,
and trying to flash via MSIHQ Tool instead, this will not works either, because B2 boards can't be flashed to ME9,
and it will print and error and nothing will hapends,
BUT it will not brick the board, like the MSI's all in one update method..

  • 3480CT: Attempt to update BIOS fails

    Hi
I have a 3480CT and wanted to update the BIOS, but only have the Toshiba USB FDD drive. When rebooting with BIOS disk in, the drive boots perfectly, but states "non-system disk error" and won't perform the update.
Is the USB FDD drive the culprit, or is there something I'm not doing right?
    Regards
    Martin

    Hello
I dont thinks that it is a Toshiba USB FDD drive fault.
Can you say me your procedure to upgrade the BIOS?
As far as I know you have to press F12 to flash the BIOS.
This is a whole procedure how to upgrade BIOS for Portege 3480CT
    1. Extract the zip file containing the BIOS upgrade to a formatted floppy disk (please see note below regarding which type of disk to use).
    2. Ensure the Notebook is connected to the mains.
    3. Turn the Notebook off.
    4. Turn the Notebook on with the F12 key. Keep the key pressed until a short beep can be heard.
    5. The message "Ready for BIOS update. Place the BIOS update diskette in the drive and press any key when ready to proceed" will appear.
    6. Place the diskette containing the BIOS upgrade in the floppy disk drive and press any key. FDD access will begin.
    7. When prompted by the message: "Please push the RESET switch (or turn AC power OFF/ON) to restart" remove the floppy disk and either press the RESET switch (if available) or turn the system off and back on to restart the Notebook.
    Bye

  • MOVED: MSI H67MA-E35 (B3) update bios FAIL

This topic has been moved to BIOS.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=161879.0

Its probably just a bricked board. I suggest you phone your local PC shops and find out which one has a ISP programmer. That way they can flash the latest, or any BIOS version for that matter, onto the current BIOS chip, ensuite.  Here is an example of such a programmer http://www.xeltek.com/In-System-Programmers/SuperPro-IS01/
Fry's Electronics in the US seems to be quite helpful from what I understand. That is of course if you are from the US.
You can download the latest BIOS from the MSI site and take that along on a USB flash drive, and they will be able to flash it for you, at a fee of course, normally.
Else you can search the web for companies that specialise in sending you ready flashed BIOS chips, which will of course cost money as well and means you have to solder it onto the board.
Alternatively you can send the board to a MSI technical centre and they will also do the job.
You will have to weigh up the costs and time effort and decide.

    Hi Tomek,
Unfortunately you will not be able to load an older version of the BIOS. The BIOS update utility automatically checks that the version being loaded is more recent than that already installed and if it is not it will not be loaded.
To revert to an older BIOS you will need to go to an Authorised Service Partner who can 'flash' the BIOS chip to remove the current BIOS and then load the earlier one.

  • Z77A G45 Bios fail

Tried to use the click bios for latest version ( its was 2.0) but it failed, just 8 seconds then reboot constantly. Then tried FAT 32 USB flash, gets to option screen F1 reset or F" continue, both lead to viseo flash on screen, then black for 20 seconds then shutdown. Shorted CMOS pins, pressed clear button and popped out battery, no joy. Tried hard clear by removing battery RAM just in slot 1 and repower, CPU fan span a second then shutdown. No change. CPU is 3570 never clocked. Ram is choice of Gskill or AMD gaming, both 1333.  No GPU just onboard Intel. Seasonic M12 PSU. 1x Samsung 830 pro boot SSD connected
    Any thoughts?

    Just a little update.
The board is going in for a new BIOS. They will take out the Eeprom and programme it then resolder it in. Fair enough. The MSI version of the SP1 header is too far off standard to cope with for them.
Checked out the support for this MB and the Gskill Ripjaws model I have is on the list. As is the i5 3570k. so hope fully an updated BIOS should cope no problem With 4 RAM slots working.
When will MSI get to grips with its lousy BIOS updating system? Not saying it doesn`t work ever, I have used it successfully before when innocent to its fickle behaviour, but its way too hit and miss to be let out of the cage.
Dug out an old ( but good) Lian  Li PC60 midi-tower, all ally. New system will  be built in this.  It has one of those transparent section side panels which I do not like. Ideally I would swap the panel for a solid one, but chances of finding one now are slim.
This case had 80 mm case fans as standard, but BeQuiet silent wings 120mm going in now.
    More later.

  • Re: Can't run P0056v200.exe (BIOS Update) on Tecra S5 with Vista Ultimate

When I run the bios update utility P0056v200.exe from within Windows I get the message "Toshiba BIOS Package Ver.3.2.8: This Computer is not supported."
I could not find any "traditional" update procedure for the Tecra S5.
Does anybody have any idea how I could update my bios?
    TIA
    nuwera

    Hi,
the problem is that there are no drivers available for Windows Vista 64Bit. Usually you must have all tools and utilities installed like the "common modules" or "HW setup" because these tools enable you to perform such windows based updates like the "P0056v200.exe".
In your case there are not many options. You need a 32bit OS like WinXP or Windows Vista 32Bit which is supported from Toshiba by drivers and update your BIOS with a 32Bit based OS.
The error comes by the way when no common modules are installed.

  • Tecra R10-10W - Crashes with nVidia display driver

    Dear Sirs,
I bought my new Tecra R10-10W two days ago. I used the Recovery Disc to set Windows XP.
However, I receive blue screens randomly. I turned on "Verifier" tool and I received: IO System Error in wmiaci.sys. Error 20e at B9B8752F. I suspected the nVidia driver and unistalled it. The problem dissappeared. But when I try to install from your site the appropriate driver: display-20081110130507.zip the system crashes blue with the same error.
    Please help me.

    Hi
    Thats really strange, buddy
Hmm, I think before you install the display driver you should clean your system using CCleaner. This freeware tool removes old driver files and cleans the registry. Then restart the notebook install the newest driver from the official Toshiba website.
By the way, did you also update the BIOS? You can find it on the Toshiba website too. :)

  • Re: Cannot update BIOS from 1.5 to 1.6 on Tecra T 9100

I have problems with updating the BIOS of my Tecra 9100. The current version is 1.5, and I want to update it to 1.6, so that the UJ-820 DVD-RAM will work.
I have tried to do with the windows tool within the Zip-File (error message: User does not have administrator privileges), and with bootdisk (error message: unknown chipset).
    What can I do next?

    Hi
First of all the BIOS update will not help you to solve the CD/DVD drive IDE #1 issue.
Secondly I assume you are using the Win XP and if you want to update the BIOS you have to do this from running Win XP!
Furthermore I read in different threads that the Common Modules must be installed in order to start the BIOS update procedure.
PS: Check if you could start the BIOS exe file using right click and choosing Run as
Then you could choose the Admin account.

  • Tecra S11 - After HDD replacement I can't update BIOS

My Hard Disk in Tecra S11 died, and I have purchased a new SSD.
Everything work OK, but I can not update BIOS any more. Update utility show an error:
Error: Preparing to update was failed.
You have not given permission to execute the update.
    What to do? Please help.

    > Error: Preparing to update was failed.
    > You have not given permission to execute the update.
    Do you have Admin rights?
Sounds like the issue could be related to missing privileges which are needed to run a update.
You could enable the admin account following these steps:
Choose command prompt (the black box cmd)
In the box type net user administrator /active:yes
Then log out. Usually an additional user account should be visible Administrator.
Now log in using this account and try to execute the BIOS update.
Note: in many cases the VAP (value added package) is needed to run the update BIOS.
Be sure also, that package has been unzipped correctly before running the exe file.
