Update: burn error message 261
I am able to burn a CD from WAV files but not apparently MP3 files although I have MP3 CD checked in preferences.
Are you running iTunes 6.0.2 which was released last week? Try downloading and installing that. And if that doesn't fix the problem, come back and we'll try something else.

I too am getting burn error message when I try to burn my playlists to CD since I downloaded iTunes 5.0. I am burning a MP3 CD and there are only 640 MB to be burned to a 700MB CD. I have gone through all of the iTunes suggested solutions. I have contacted Dell (my OEM) and the manufacturer of my CD-R/RW drive (Samsung). I upgraded the latest firmware for my computer and CD Drive. I still get the same message...burn failed for unknown reason...error message 261. It works in Windows Media. What gives? Is there a fix? Seemingly, quite a few other customers are having the same problem. HELP!Apple is there a fix on the way?
Here are my diagnostic results:

If you have multiple drives on the same IDE or SCSI bus, these drives may interfere with each other.
Some computers need an update to the ATA or IDE bus driver, or Intel chipset. If iTunes has problems recognizing CDs or hanging or crashing while importing or burning CDs, check the support site for the manufacturer of your computer or motherboard.

I'm not too sure if I could help you since you're running a Windows machine but if you want some reliable answers, could you re-post your question in the iTunes for Windows forum? I'm sure the people on that forum would help you better. Sorry about that.
Just FYI, you posted this thread on the iTunes for Mac forum. -
Cannot download updates without error message
Whenever I try to download my computer's updates, an error message pops up saying that I do not have sufficient admin privileges to download them. This is troubling because my account is the only account on my computer, and is clearly registered as an "admin". How can I fix this so that I can download my software updates?
Try repairing your permissions. If that does not work, try booting from your install disc and reset the admin password.

My iphone 5c says connect to itunes. It won't update/restore; error message (27) comes up. I also haven't backed the phone up since last year. HELP.
Hi there owain11,
It looks like that particular error may be realted to a hardware issue. Take a look at the article below for more information.
Resolve iOS update and restore errors
Check for hardware issues
Related errors: 1, 3, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 20, 21, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 34, 35, 36, 37, 40, 1000, 1002, 1004, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1667, or 1669.
These errors mean that your device or computer may have a hardware issue that's preventing the update or restore from completing.
Check that your security software and settings aren't preventing your device from communicating with the Apple update server.
Then try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good.
Confirm that your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers.
If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.

macbook pro - iPhoto keep prompting to update after Yosemite update. Error message when trying to update -This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.
I only have 1 apple ID and the same was used to set up this early 2011 macbook pro and iPhoto app. I don't want to loose out on any photos. I tried logging out of app store and back in but no luck. PLEEAASEE HELPP!!!
This problem has been reported by quite a few forum members, who skipped the update to iPhoto 9.5.1 while running Mavericks. In that case try to purchase iPhoto again instead of updating.
After making your backup try the following:
Uninstall iPhoto by deleting it from the applications folder, but do not empty the Trash.
Launch the App Store, click the "Store" menu, and sign in with your AppleID.
Open the main page of the App Store and search for iPhoto.
If iPhoto is listed as "Free", click the "Free" button to buy it with your current AppleID.
If it is not showing as free, there is no help but contacting the App Store Support, as Niel pointed out: http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact/ -

Still getting same error message. Can anyone help meFor general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

Aperture is not letting me update my vaults. I am receiving update vault error messages when trying to back up to Vaults. I have three backup Vaults on external firewire drives, formatted Mac HFS+ (not MS-DOS) and not partitioned. My Aperture library is also on a dedicated external drive. I get the same message for all three vaults, so this seems to be an Aperture problem, not a disk problem. The error messages refer to NEF (raw) image files that do not exist in my Library (or anywhere else, for that matter). Message reads:
update vault error:
The following error occured:
Couldn't create/Volumes/LaCie/ApertureV2.apvault/Library/....
Any insights would be appreciated.James Bouret's problem is fixed -- or maybe not.
From my blog: +We traced the problem to "something bad" about the folder or its contents that was being reported. By opening the library and the vault with control-click Show Package Contents and navigating down, it was possible to trash the folder. Not only did the vault update complete once that was done, but it worked many, many times faster than before. The bad news is that I think this is due to a bad spot on the disk, indicating a drive that is on its way out. If you have vault problems: back up carefully and consider that you may have a bad disk.+
A bad spot on the disk may also be the reason that Johnny Cappuccino could fix his problem by modifying the image. That will have rewritten the sidecar files, a process that usually involves creating a new temporary file and then atomically deleting the old file and renaming the new one. So the new file is shiny and good and the bad spot is ready for use by another hapless program. -

ITunes won't recognize my CD burner, error message -43 on CD diagnostics
I hope there is someone who can help me. I am at my wits end with this! I cannot burn any cd's using iTunes--it does not recognize that I have burning capablities. I have tried repairing and reinstalling iTunes, because the very first error message I get when opening iTunes reads like this "The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes". I have done this about 20 times already. Then when I try to run CD diagnostic, this is what I get:

I am really unhappy with this problem, considering that I can use Windows Media Player with no problem whatsoever. Now I have purchased all kinds of music off of iTunes and can't even burn a CD--what a waste of money. I hope someone has a suggestion for me. When I tried to email to the iTunes support they told me they didn't handle this type of problem, and I'd have to call their technical help line and pay whatever fee they charge for calls. Please help! Or else I guess my husband wasted $400 on a video iPod that's worthless. Here's my diagnostics:
