Update caused issues

If this Kill-switch feature (another lovely thing brought to us by the flakes and nuts of california) is what's causing all this lag and trouble in my phone, where is the Opt-out panel as defined by the statute?
Subject Title edited to reflect new topic.

Yes...starting in the 10.3.1 rollouts, there have been many many folks reporting issues when using the automated "update" processes. Reloading the OS (via the "official" methods) has often cured their issues. Sometimes more is required, but that's the first step in trying to resolve issues caused by something potentially going wrong in the automatic update process.
Good luck and let us know!
PS... the poor OP on this thread, our discussion has gone far off track from that. I am going to ask the mods to split our discussion away from the OP. PPS...you also need to change your profile on this site...it still says "9530" as your device...  Edit... Now that this is split out, I'll place some useful links to the recommended process. The official OS reload methods:http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-10-Functions-and/How-to-Reload-your-Blackberry10-OS/td-p/2187545#nobannerThe unofficial methods:http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-10-OS-Device-Software/Upgrading-OS10-devices-using-Autoloader/td-p/2466747#nobannerhttp://forums.crackberry.com/bb10-leaked-beta-os-f395/bb10-os-archive-943672/

  • ITunes 11.4 update cause issue with AppleUSBEthernetHost.kext

Along with many others iMac users, the iTunes 11.4 update cause a window that informs that the system extension "/System/Library/Extensions/AppleUSBEthernetHost.kext" was installed improperly and cannot be used.

Am on Snow Leopard and downloaded and installed the update to ITUNES yesterday - Itunes itself installed okay - but I did get the same system extension cannot be used.
I don't have any ethernet devices - so I checked the System/Library folder and the date on the file Is July 13, 2009.
My IPOD (probably now classic because of age) synced okay through USB port, and everything is working fine.    As the update was to allow more devices to sync with ITUNES it may be the error message is not correct one.
Seriously - Apple needs to get out of Silicon valley - the message if correct is for techies - not for users who just want the software to update without problems.    Lately Apple is preaching to their own choir.
I did send feedback through Itunes to Apple - -- If you are experiencing crashes after this update make sure you send the crash report to apple explaining that it is happening after this install  -- also call or schedule a call with apple support --

  • Java 2013-003 Update causing issues

I own several Mac's; one Macbook and two iMacs, each with different versions of OS X and after installing the 2013-003 update I'm having major issues with Java. In fact since Apple decided they didn't want Java running on their OS's and in their browsers, I've had numerous problems.
Today I was forced to install the 2013-003 update and when I try to run a website I use which requires Java, all I'm seeing is this message:
Use the Software Update feature (available on the Apple menu) to check that you have the most up-to-date version of Java for your Mac.
Clearly I've updated to the latest version and I've even tried installing the most up to date version of Java from Oracle's website yet I'm still having the same issue. I love my Apple computers but I'm getting really sick of the constant Java issues.
    Any ideas what's going on?
    Thanks.

Would like to know the answer to this too.

  • 10.9.1 Update causing issue logging in

After I applied the update, the first time I logged in to each of the 10 accounts I have I am asked to log into iCloud again (which I skip).  Sometimes, instead of seeing that prompt the screen has a gray and a black bar.  If I hit Cmd-Q, the iCloud prompt appears (must be a graphics mode issue or something), but the beach ball is spinning and it never stops, force a hard reboot.
Once, I logged in to each of the 10 accounts, I won't get prompted again, but it was a pain...I had to reboot 4 times.
    Apple needs to test more.

The update is not being installed.
Download 10.9.1 from the Apple website > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1707?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US Then, restart your Mac and hold the Shift key while your Mac is starting up to start up in safe mode, and finally, install OS X 10.9.1 by running the installer you downloaded

  • Update causes issue with bluetooth

I just upgraded my S4 with the "update_SCH-I545_MI1_to_MJ7" patch and now bluetooth audio will not work properly. I have several bluetooth headphones and speakers and the issue affects all of them. I can connect and play one song if I start the song from the S4 and not through bluetooth controls. However after one song it stops working. I have to disconnect and reconnect to play a second song and then it breaks after that.
Obviously there is some bugs in this latest upgrade. Is this a known issue and if so when is a fix anticipated?

schreib1620, let's get rid of these bugs. Have you downloaded 3rd party applications to your device? Some application software can affect the performance of your device soon after a software update. I recommend that you uninstall any unwanted applcation, power your device off/on to soft reset it, and test the bluetooth feature again. Keep us posted.

  • Software update causing issues with text message

I updated to 10.2.1.3014 last night and since then my text messages are not showing up in my text message folder on the hub.  They'll show up if I select Hub but not when I select Text Messages.  Is there anyway I can fix this!?

Make sure your settings didn't get messed up. Go to your Hub and click the three dots in the lower right then follow Settings>Hub Management>Text Messages and make sure "Show in Both" is selected.
    I hope that helps you.
    - If my response has helped you, please click "Options" beside my post and mark it as solved. Clicking the "thumbs up" icon near the bottom of my response would also be appreciated.

  • OS 10.4.10 Update Causing Audio Popping (AND HUM) Issues:

OS 10.4.10 Update Causing Audio Popping (AND HUM) Issues:
The problem on my Intel Mac mini with external Klipsch speakers (two mid-range/high and a subwoofer) is REAL obvious as the system emits a hum like a Spinal Tap amplifier turned up to #11 when 10.4.10 powers down the audio circuitry
Then, if I play a song in iTunes, it first pops and the hum disappears right before playing.
Quite annoying. I restored the mini from a recent backup to 10.4.9. Problem gone.
I'm glad I test updates on the mini before applying them to my Intel iMac 24. I guess I'll just hide & watch what happens before doing any more updates.
Here's what I sent to Apple tech support:
    Guys/Gals (OS X Engineers):
Concerning the Snap, Crackle Pop Audio problem in the 10.4.10 update:
Please. Just do the right thing and fix the audio.
There is no need to power cycle the audio subsystem to save .0005 amps on the laptop line.
And then to make your Mac mini/iMac/other desktop users have to put up with it when using AC power is ridiculous.
Put the audio subsystem back like it was in 10.4.9 and let the laptop battery freaks looking for mini-amp savings get a "work-a-round".
    Crikey!

    Libby,
Backup is unable to make a restorable by Disk Utility backup. You can restore pieces of the software as outlined in my FAQ about backing up user data:
    http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html
But to be able to restore a backup with Disk Utility, you need a cloning utility to have made the backup.
I suggest starting a new thread here, where someone else could help you out better:
    http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=752&start=0
First off, you'll get a wider audience who may be able to solve your problem. Secondly, responses to you won't confuse the original poster with solutions that don't apply to them. And thirdly, you'll know for certain whether or not a response applies to you.

  • Flash player Update causing layout issues in Adobe Reader

I did an updated to adobe flash player to version 15.0.0.239 and now the Adobe Reader XI (11.0.09) Layouts don't work,  only file list mode.
Is there any way of fixing this? This new layout issue is going to cause issues since the whole appeal of using Acrobat Portfolios is the Presentation Layout views.
    Please help
    thanks!

I have found sometimes you need to run Adobe's Flash uninstaller, before running the installer.
Typically the first whole number of a version is usually a major upgrade, versus an update, and hence why the built-in update function fails to see the new version on many software.
As for "safe", clone backup in case there is a feature you don't like about the new version, so you can always run it like it was before.
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-1992
You don't know how Adobe might alter the overall PDF frameworks on the computer when the upgrade is completed.  If you don't clone, you may find yourself stuck with whatever changes they make.

  • Last night's update causing XML issues with MAC and MS Word

I am running Snow Leopard on a MAC. Last night Firefox installed an update, and the software I use for work no longer works with Firefox. I use a custom built web app that uses XML code to take web created info and compile into a Word document. Until this latest update, the issue had been when creating the Word doc, extra XML code was being written for images causing them to show as blank in the Word document. Now, the document is being created but not with a .doc extension. I had been in contact with Microsoft about the first problem with no resolution. They were able to duplicate the problem. The first problem only happens on a MAC and is not specific to operating system. This new problem is only happening with Firefox, not Safari, and started today after the last update.

    HI,
If you post a crash report, perhaps we can help.
If Safari has just crashed, press the Report button on the CrashReporter dialog box to view the crash information.
Now copy/paste the entire contents of the Crash Reporter window into your reply here. If the crash report dialog does not appear or the crash is hard to reproduce, crash logs can be retrieved from the ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter> folder.
You may have Safari third party plugins that were compatible with your previous version of Safari but not Safari 5.0.1. It's the responsibility of third party developers to update their software, not Apple.
Follow the instructions here. Safari: Add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
If indeed you had third party add-ons installed and Safari still crashes, then post a crash report.

  • Recent Update causes my App to crash. What should I do?

Recent update causes my Adobe Revel App to crash. What can I do?

Are you using ios? Is your app crashing or not installing an update?
There is an issue that the Revel version 2.3.2 on iOS does not seem to install.  We are working with Apple to resolve it as quickly as possible. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this is causing you. In the mean time, you can still access your photos on adoberevel.com from a browser and from our mac, win8, and android apps.
If you are using a different platform, please let us know the details.

  • 10.8.5 Supplemental Update causing external drive error?

I'm seeing a lot of discussion about 10.8.5 having a bug that caused some external drives to eject improperly. I have never had this issue, but just did the software update -- which *I believe* was the 10.8.5 Supplemental Update, because I remember it saying this:
"Fixes an issue that may cause external drives to be ejected after the computer goes to sleep"
... and now I AM getting that error message sometimes after my computer is woken from sleep! So, for me, the Supplemental Update caused the problem that others had been having, but that I'd never had, with the previous update!
I'm assuming I'm fully up to date with my software updates because, when I check, there are no updates to be found.
It's frustrating because I never had this issue, and the update that was supposed to fix it for everyone else, cause it to start happening to me.
Any help or thoughts on this would be appreciated!

    Try running the combo update.

  • Cannot boot -- 10.6.7 update causes endless "waiting for DSMOS"

I have an iMac 10,1 purchased 10 months ago. I ran the 10.6.7 combo update today and after clicking 'restart', I only got the Apple logo with the spinning gear (grey screen). I booted into verbose mode and discovered that it is hanging at "Waiting for DSMOS..." indefinitely, or I should say for at least 2 hours. I reset PRAM and SMC, I repaired the disk and fixed permissions in Disk Utility, and I rebuilt volume using Disk Warrior. Nothing has changed.
I can boot into single user mode and I tried a few of the terminal commands that are supposed to fix this, but nothing worked. Specifically, I tried "chown root:admin /" but got an error that the filesystem was read-only.
I would love to hear if anyone has ideas!

No one seems to want to acknowledge that major problems have happened after this update.
Major problems occur for some users after every update. There are a number of possible causes for this, most not having anything directly to do with the update itself but instead with the state of the user's Mac before applying it. Discussions board users collectively have a pretty good track record for solving these problems, but mostly just for users willing to provide enough info for other users to get an idea of which possible causes might be involved.
Let's keep in touch for possible solutions--and if you see others with post-update problems we need to band together so they (Apple and some board experts) will take notice of this trend and find out what's wrong.
Please review the Help & Terms of Use link provided on every Discussions page. As it explains, Apple does not provide any official technical support in Discussions & the board moderators may or may not have time to forward anything about any issues discussed here to the Apple divisions that can do anything about it. Their principle job is to make sure posts abide by the ToU, & they are usually pretty busy doing that when updates are issued. (Updates historically generate a lot of posts that ignore or violate the ToU, like by <ahem> posting polls or petitions.)
If you want to get the attention of Apple about any issue related to an OS X update, use the form provided at http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html, & be sure to provide as much detail about the issue as you can.
If you are looking for solutions from either Apple or other users, the best way to get noticed is to provide clear, relevant details about the problem. "Similar problems" is just not enough to work with.

  • Explorer InfoSpaces on HANA Views - column label changes cause issues?

Key question is – do simply label changes in HANA view cause issues with Explorer InfoSpaces?  Furthermore, on source view changes, does the InfoSpace also need to be adjusted?
What we have observed is this
    1. InfoSpaces have been created using the “SAP HANA appliance” connection highlighted below. The corresponding “Home” screen is shown below that, so there are around 14 or so InfoSpaces that should be available.
    2. Yesterday, there was a production deployment that contained some changes to the underlying views in the form of label changes (not column name changes).
    3. Now, in the “Manage” screen we cannot see these same 14 InfoSpaces available under the expected connection. Instead, they are all available under the “Source Unavailable” node with the default action of “Change Source” shown.
Additionally, we are seeing some strange behavior where certain facets are actually containing the wrong data. For example, in a facet/column called “Source Type”, where the expected values are “NBP or PBP”, we are seeing Material numbers like “00001112453”. This leads me to believe that there is a mapping issue under the covers.
    Thanks,
    Justin

Our BOE Explorer is Version: 14.1.1 Build: 1072   - I’m not sure how this corresponds with your 69.01 to 74 numbers (release note numbers?).
But it sounds identical to your description.
One of our observations: if we change the sorting on a facet pane using the upper right sort control the values are corrected for a while, at least until we change a measure and the set of facets get updated with the miss-mapped values again.    This only occurs on some models and we haven’t been able to determine what the underlying criteria might be that aggravates the problem.
Thanks for your input – it helps us determine a viable path forward.
    Cheers,
    Tony
