Update CR in PSE 11

How do I update camera raw in PSE 11 to 8.2, I currently have 7.4

If Help / Updates does not work within the PSE Editor, then you can do it manually.
There is a link to the Camera Raw 8.2 updater for CS6, here, so see if downloading and running that works—be sure to follow the Very Important Instructions before clicking the download link:
http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-cs6-direct-download-links.html
If that updater doesn’t update your Elements—and it may only be for CS6 applications, then you can use a manual install process similar to that outlined for PSE12 and ACR 8.3, just substitute different versions for the various steps, and get ACR 8.2 from the page, above, not the “#notconnected” url listed in the procedure:

  • Camera Raw 8.4-Update für PSE 7

    Hallo zusammen,

  • Updating contents of PSE 13 Organizer

Is there a quick, batch process to update the contents of the Organizer for all images that have been renamed, deleted or moved to different folders?

Well, if such a quick batch process existed, you would not find the golden rule of the organizer repeated so frequently.
As a matter of fact it's not specific to the organizer, it is a necessity for managing digital assets from catalogs; it's the same for Lightroom.
What is quick is to reconnect a batch of pictures that have just been moved and even renamed.
It's quick to remove from catalog the entries of picture files which have been deleted outside of the organizer.
    See:
    Photoshop Elements (PSE) knowledge base.
The automatic reconnecting feature may be successful, but it's far from quick.
If you have a lot of files renamed, deleted or moved, you might consider starting from scratch with a new catalog.

  • Camera RAW 5.6 Update - OK for PSE 7.0?

    Is the
Camera RAW 5.6 update suitable for Elements, specifically say PSE 7.0 onwards?

Indeed it is different. But it appears to work fine in PSE 8.
The method I used below is for a manual install of ACR 5.6 for PSE 8 running on 64-bit system.
If you are running on a 32-bit system and/or are using PSE 7, it will probably be  a bit different.
1 After unzipping the ACR 5.6 download file, navigate to the
\Adobe Camera Raw 5.6\extensions\AdobeCameraRaw5.0All-xxxxxxxxxx\Assets” folder (ie, the top folder, not the x64 folder)
    2. Copy the 1003 file to a new folder and rename it “Camera Raw.8bi”
    3. Navigate to the “Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\Elements 8\File Formats” folder. Move the Camera Raw.8bi file to another folder for safe keeping.
    4. Move the file you created in step 2 into the folder listed in step 3.
    5. Return to the ACR 5.6 folder and navigate to the \Adobe Camera Raw 5.6\extensions\AdobeCameraRaw5.0All-x64-xxxxxxxxxx\Assets” folder.
    6. Copy the 1003 file to another new folder and rename it “Camera Raw.8bi”
    7. Navigate to the “Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 8.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats” folder. If there exists a Camera Raw.8bi file, save/move it as in step 3 above.
    8. Move the file you created in step 6 into the folder listed in step 7.
When you open a .cr2 file in PSE 8, you will be greeted with a notice stating that you are using a beta version of ACR.
Nothing like a straight forward install  :-)

  • Does Camera Raw 5.6 Update work for PSE 6?

    I have a PSE6, and have bought a Canon Powershot G11.
Camera Raw update 5.6 includes the Canon G11, but the update documentation seems to suggest it can't be applied to PSE 6 on Windows:
    Camera Raw 5.6 update page:
"The Camera Raw 5.6 plug-in is not compatible with versions of Photoshop earlier than Photoshop CS4, versions of Photoshop Elements earlier than Photoshop Elements 6.0."
    But the ReadMe file says:
"The Camera Raw 5.6 plug-in is not compatible with versions of Photoshop earlier than Photoshop CS4or versions of Photoshop Elements earlier than Photoshop Elements 7.0 for Windows and Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac."
Am I right in thinking that my one-year-old copy of PSE6 (Windows version) is no longer functional with a new camera?  Or am I mistaken?
    Advice appreciated -

Some of the Adobe download links are wrong and often take you to an earlier version of Adobe Camera Raw. The latest version is ACR 5.6 which brings support for the newest camera models such as the
    Canon EOS 7D, PowerShot S90 & G11, Nikon D3S and others.
So don’t worry it will work. First you will need to exit Photoshop Elements.
To get the plug-in for PSE6 go to the link below - instructions are for Windows users. They will differ for Mac users.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/thankyou.jsp?ftpID=4626&fileID=4303
Download the plug-in for Elements 8
Open the zip folder you just downloaded and click Extract Files.
You should see a 64 bit folder and a plug-in file below it. The plug in has a file name: Camera Raw.8bi
Now drag the plug-in file (or copy it) into the File Formats folder in the following location:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 6.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats.  See Gotcha
If running windows Vista you will probably get a pop-up requesting Administrator permission. Assuming you are the Administrator for your computer, simply agree.
I can confirm it does work as I have recently updated my plug-in for PSE6 using the above method. To test it, go to one of your photo folders, right click on a raw file (NEF, CR2, DNG etc) and select open with Photoshop Elements. The image should automatically open in ACR 5.6 giving you access to the latest slider adjustments, including white balance and exposure.
Note: If you have an earlier Camera Raw plug-in, I suggest you move it from the File Formats folder to My Documents before you begin. This will prevent it being overwritten by the new Camera Raw file (it will have the same name) and you can always move it back again if the download installation fails.
If you are using a 64-bit edition of Windows, then move the plug-in file from the unzipped download folder by navigating to:C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 6.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats.

  • Lost Keyword Tags with updating files after PSE 13 install

When I updated my PSE 11 catalog after installing PSE 13, I lost some of the Tag categories. In particular, they were the ones that PSE 11 had shown as Imported Keyword Tags. Is there any way to recapture these order Tag Categories?

Try downloading the offline installer from http://prodesigntools.com/photoshop-elements-13-direct-download-links-premiere.html
Make sure you follow the Very Important Instructions on that page.

    Danke schonmal, Gruss Ralf.

    Hallo,

  • Updating Metadata in PSE 12

    Example:
I have a picture with the tag BIG BLUE MOON. I update the metadata and no matter what program I use I see the tag of BIG BLUE MOON.
Down the road I decide to change that tag name to BLUE MOON thus removing the word BIG. I update the metadata.
Now when I view the metadata thru any other program it has both tags: Big Blue Moon and Blue Moon.
So now I will have to go thru all my pictures and manually remove the word BIG.
    Is there an easier way?

When you are going to try an important change not only to the catalog, but also to many files, the obvious advice is to start with a full backup from the organizer. Should anything go wrong, you could always get back to the previous state (catalog and image files).
Also, I would not try the 1000 photos the first time : maybe a test on a dozen or so images.
I am assuming that the tags in your files all come from the organizer, not from another software. My suggestion is based on the fact that the tags in the catalog are the only valid ones. I have run that process on much more than 1000 files.
Lightroom is more powerful for metadata management. The problem with the Organizer is that it can only read the metadata in the files at import time. With the above solution, you can update the metada in two stages : cleaning, then writing. If on the contrary you want to update the catalog from the files, it's not possible... unless you delete the files from the catalog and reimport them.

  • Update to PSE 13

A couple of days ago I received an update to my PSE 13 - I use it for digital scrapbooking. Ever since I applied the update, whenever I drag a paper onto my layered template, it goes to a different layer than the one that I have highlighted in the layers palette. What the heck is going on? This is super frustrating

Can you please try resetting preferences:
Hold down the (Alt + Ctrl + Shift) keys on Win ( Opt + Cmd + Shift on Mac) as you click on the icon to open Elements. When asked if you want to delete the settings file, say yes.
    Launch Editor.
If resetting preferences does not work ,I would need some more details to isolate the issue:
    1. What`s your platforms(Win/Mac)?
    2. Has your PSE successfully updated to 13.1(Check in Help>About Photoshop Elements)

  • PSE Not showing camera raw update 8.8

My PSE13 is saying that camera raw is up to date at 8.7 but it will still not read my NEF Files.. I saw camera raw 8.8 is available but my PSE is not showing an update available so how do I manually update my Camera Raw?

Perhaps that is your experience, MBP, at a particular point in time and/or on a particular platform for version of PSE13, but for me on Windows 7 and Windows 8, with PSE 13.1 & ACR 8.7.1 installed, there still is no update found when checking from Help / Updates in the PSE 13 Editor.  I have also downloaded and installed the Camera RAW 8.8 installer from the Adobe HelpX page, and that installer installs ACR 8.8 for PS-CS6 and PS-CC but no PSE13--I have all three on my system.  I can manually copy the plug-in from the PS folder to the PSE folder but that's not something the updater is doing on its own.
For someone who has some computer savvy, and is running Windows, at least, you can download the ACR 8.8 installer EXE, rename it to have a .zip extension, open it with 7zip (not Windows native compressed folder handling, or WinRAR) and unzip the contents to somewhere, then look for the Camera Raw.8bi file, and copy that over the top of the PSE13 file of the same name.  There are two Camera Raw.8bi files.  The one under $SHELL[70] is the same size as in my PS-CC so I assume that is the 64-bit one.  There is another one under $MUSIC that is slightly smaller so maybe that is the 32-bit one but the folder structure also says CC so I'm not sure.
    The installer is here:
    Camera Raw plug-in installer
Besides the .8bi plug-in there are also new camera profiles.  Those can be more easily installed by installing the DNG Converter 8.8 available from the Adobe Updates page:  http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/

  • Installing Camera Raw update for PSE 9.0.3 fails

I have been trying to update either manually or with the update function the camera raw plugin for Photoshop Elements 9 to the newest version. It keeps saying that the update has failed. I know I don't have the newest version because I can't open my .CR2 files in photoshop. Which the newest version is able to do. Please, if anyone can help it would be much appreciated! I can't update anything in PSE 9.

DagoEmerson I would recommend posting your inquiry into the Photoshop Elements forum.  This forum is designed to assist users with product specific issues such as applying updates and updating the Camera RAW plug-in.

  • How can I do a manual install of ACR 7.4 in 64-bit Win 7 PSE 11?

I found detailed instructions on this forum that I think were for  32-bit Win 7 but I'm hoping 64-bit install is different since I followed them and still no success.  I know that 8.1 is supposed to be able to be manually installed and that would be ok too but I really only need to go from 7.1 to 7.4 and the update function is greyed out.  I started with a trial version on that machine so maybe that has something to do with it?  It is registered and activated.  Tried to uninstall/re-install and still no luck(didn't check the "de-activate" though so maybe I need to try again and choose this?
Not afraid to try a manual install if it is in fact different.
This is the thread I followed - http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1266134
I have the PSE 11 on a Mac platform also and was able to update it no problem...can't get the Win 7 to work for the life of me.
    Thanks for any responses.

    Glad it worked.
There is one more thing you should install and those are the camera raw profiles for 8.1
Download the 8.1 DNG Converter and run the installer to install the camera raw profiles.
(those profiles would normally be installed if the updater in your pse 11 was working)

  • By the today e-received updates for Adobe Photoshop Elemenst 12.1 and Adobe Premiere Elements 12.1 I got this error messages: Failure code = U44M1P2003. What to do? System = Window7 64bit.

By the today e-received updates for Adobe Photoshop Elemenst 12.1 and Adobe Premiere Elements 12.1 I got this error messages: Failure code = U44M1P2003. What to do? System = Window7 64bit.

Sometimes the Adobe servers used for the updates can get busy and it’s necessary to try a couple of times. Also make sure you don’t have a firewall which may be blocking the connection. It sometimes helps to temporarily disable internet security/anti-virus software. Because the Organizer is shared by both programs it often helps to do the PSE update first, followed by the PRE update in that order.
Select the 12.1 update for PSE from the updater dialog and ensure everything else is unchecked.  Quit PSE and PRE if you have it running and then start the update.
If PSE updates properly to 12.1 repeat the process for PRE.

  • All my .psd files created in PSE were changed  to CS files--how can I get them back to PSE?

    Running PC, Win7, HP Pavilion dv7.  PSE6, CS4.
I use both PSE6 and CS4 depending on the project.  I am very happy with both of these elderly versions and have no desire to change.
Recently, all the projects (works in progress, .psd files) that I had created and saved using PSE suddenly converted themselves into CS4.  Literally.  I booted my computer and there were no more PSE projects.  (To see what was going on, I created a .psd file with PSE and saved it; it also saved itself as CS4.)  I can find no way to open them in PSE.  This isn't a crisis, obviously, since I can still open them in CS4.  But I prefer to work on these projects in PSE (that's why I used PSE to create them in the first place).  And it's impractical to go through a laborious process of opening in CS4 and then transferring everything to PSE, only to have it end up as CS4 again.
The only change I have made: I downloaded and installed Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) updates, upgrading the PSE from v4.2 to v5.6, and upgrading CS to v5.7.  Both installed and function without difficulty.
I will be very grateful for any advice/info that will allow me to work in the Photoshop program of my choice (PSE or CE), save and reopen in the same program.
    Update:
The problem is half solved.  Somehow CS4 was made the default for .psd files.
Unfortunately, it seems that for whatever reason, since this incident all .psd files must have the same default "Open with..." program.  If I select a PSE project and make PSE the default program to open that type of file all .psd projects--even those created and saved in CS4, show the PSE logo and open with PSE when clicked.
So basically I have to decide which one I use more, then use the "Open with..." option for the other.  Which introduces a small but noticeable hiccup into the work flow.
I'm still at a loss to understand how this happened.  Used to be that CS4 projects displayed a CS4 logo, and PSE projects displayed a PSE logo, and each would open in the correct program when clicked.
    Simple is better.

"Not typical behavior". I think not. I am yet another person this happened to. Even if I can get them back, you've just wasted an hour or two of my time. I won't be using firefox again after I've recovered my bookmarks. If I recover them. Thanks for nothing.
