Update crashed my Iphone

There was a message to update my iPhone this afternoon and now I have lost everything on it. I can't even restore it. There is a message that shows to plug into itunes, when I do iTune states that it detects an iPhone in recovery mode and will not restore. I am stuck. Help!

I am not a windows user. I discarded the 2.0.1 upgrade and then restored my iPhone as suggested by another message on the message board. So far so good. All the apps are back but my phone battery is so low it barely registers so now it is recharging. My hubby is trying this on his. Will let you know the outcome.

  • Update crashed my iPhone 4 - Now it doesn't even connect to iTunes.

I updated my phone with the new update and now the phone will not connect with iTunes.  The phone won't even turn on now.  I just get the home screen as if the phone is brand new and has never been set up.

You need to enter DFU mode.  Connect you iphone to your computer. Turn of your iPhone (hold down power button, slide to shutdown). Then press and hold the power button for 3 sec. Then, without letting go of the power button, press and hold the home button for 10 sec. Release the power button, but hold the home button down for 20 more sec. iTunes should now pop up and tell you to restore. Do it. Afterwards, it will ask you to restore from backup. Choose your most recent backup and let it sync. It should be fixed.

  • 7.1.1 update crashed my iPhone 5

I updated to 7.1.1. After wirelessly downloading, I was instructed to plug my phone into iTunes. Once plugged in, it said my phone was in recovery mode and had to be restored to factory settings. I restored and tried to restore my last backup unsuccessfully. I lost every contact and picture of my two year old I have. Why did this happen?

I'm also in the same boat.  This blows!!! Last night over wifi my iPhone 5S told me there was a new update. Fine I let it download the update to 7.1.1.  Once it was downloaded I shut off the wifi but did not agree to the install. I figured I would be fine till today.  This morning while I was checking my emails, the phone reminded me I had an update to install.  Fine no problem, I agreed to the install and the phone rebooted LIKE ALL THE PREVIOUS TIMES BEFORE FOR UPDATES.
I set the phone down, and happened to glance at it only to be shown the "connect to Itunes" icon.
I have to get to work and my phone needs a full restore!!! So here I am plugged into my Mac running a full restore.
This has never happened before.  The phone had been running all of its current updates.
Now I'm in the middle of a full restore.  I did have the phone backed up so that no problem, it's just time consuming to have to reload all my previous settings.
I hope this was just a fluke and not an indicator of things to come, with upcoming updates.

  • Newest iPhone 4 software update crashed my iPhone

I was using an older version of iTunes (9 I believe) and updated my iPhone software this morning.
I got an error message (no code given) but it said it couldn't complete the update and would need to be restored.
I tried to restore it but it won't recognise the phone, I installed iTunes 10 but it still doesn't work.
I'm really annoyed at this, this is my first iPhone - I knew I should have got the HTC Desire.
But in the meantime any help would be immensely helpful.

If your phone cant be recognised by iTunes:
    Open iTunes.
Connect the phone to the PC.
Press and hold the 'Home' and 'Power' buttons on the phone.
After 10 seconds release the 'Power' button.
Keep holding the 'Home' button until iTunes pops up telling you it has detected a phone in recovery mode.
You should now be able to restore the phone via iTunes.

  • HT5704 Hi, Two recent updates for my iPhone have caused crashes (down the white lead via iTunes).I have "fixed" but not sure of the cause?

    Hi,
Two recent updates for my iPhone have caused crashes (down the white lead) via iTunes.
I have "fixed" but I don't know the cause?
Each time the update does n't complete.
    The download does n't happen.
The computer & internet connection are good.
It is as if the Apple server does n't complete?
The phone stays in recovery mode, until you reset and rebuild in iTunes.
All software is up to date, but I can't find the cause
    ANY IDEAS?
    Regards,
    P.
    <Email Edited by Host>

    No error messages.
It just fails to complete the download, so recovery mode is the next step.
This can be over a period of eight hours or more!
I have so many (original) Apple USB leads that I would n't know if I have been using the same one (if it was faulty).
Does this sound like a "common" problem?

  • Updating to 2.1 crashed now iPhone is useless

Updating my original iPhone to 2.1 crashed at some point in the process. Ever since then my phone is stuck on the connect iPhone to iTunes page. Every time I connect it prompts me to update. When I do that I always get "We could not complete our iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-3256)." My iPhone appears in the Devices panel of iTunes, but I can see no info on it. If I try to select it I always get the same message from above. I can't even get to synching, update or restore options.
I tried the emergency call work around mentioned in another post, but I just get call failed with no option to turn off airplane mode. Anyone else have another solution?
I'm on an original iPhone with a Mac PowerBook G4
Any help will be greatly appreciated...I'm desperate.

All is correct on the PB in the BB ID
OK, with the Playbook NOT connected to the PC in any way whatsoever,  in the PC browser go to http://appworld.blackberry.com , sign in with your blackberry ID, go to My World link, The list of apps you own should be there and it will NOT ask for a device ID of any type, so log as you go to the website with a stand-alone PC.
    Are they there??
If not then the BBID is not the right one and you wil have to search your memory for the right one.
If they ARE there then the playbook will need to be wiped and start again with the setup.

  • Update 8.3 crashed my iphone

I attempted to install the new update for my iphone tonight (8.3) I backed up all of my data to my iTunes before attempting.
My first attempt came with no avail because it said there was not enough disk space, I did some much needed spring cleaning on my Macbook Air and that is not a problem anymore. However it then came up with an Unknown error. So I then updated my iTunes to the latest version and tried again. I have attempted 4 times, it keeps stopping in the same spot on the progress bar. I wiped my entire phone and it still won't work. It won't even allow me to restore it.
This phone is maybe 4 or 5 months old, previously did not have any problems. I do not know what to do and I'm freaking out.
Does anyone have any advice for me? Please its 2 AM and I am truly desperate.

ok so I updated to ios8.3 yesterday and I was told by friends that I show have updated through itune instead of the ota . so my question is is the a way to update my iphone 5 using itune even if I already did it with the ota , and we all know why I need to .  is there like a 3rd party  app I can do this with .

  • Newsdesk app crashes on iPhone and iPad

Newsdesk app crashes on iphone 5 and ipad mini.
Only crashes when started on Sci Tech or shen Sci Tech is selected.
Works fine in World News and Entertainment categories.
Deleted, reinstalled, rebooted, etc.  Still have problem.
I have used this app for many years.  This happened in the last 24 hours.
    Please help!
    Thanks,
    Alan

3rd party app settings and data created and stored by a 3rd party app is not stored with the app. Each app has its own "sandbox" available on the device where the app settings and data created and stored by the app is stored. If you delete an app from your iPhone or iPad, this also deletes the app's "sandbox".
3rd party app settings and data created and stored by a 3rd party app is included with your iPhone's backup and with your iPad's backup, which is updated by iTunes as the first step during the iTunes sync process for each device with the backup for each device stored separately on your computer. 3rd party app settings and data created and stored by a 3rd party app is not synced. When installing an app on your iPad that is currently installed on your iPhone, this does not include the settings and data created by the app on your iPhone with the app's installation on your iPad, and vice-versa.

  • Is It Just Me Or Are The New Updates To The IPhone Messing Up My Phone?

Ok, so ever since the IPhone 4 came out, there have been more software updates to previous IPhones which is normal, but I've had problems. Actually, EVERYONE who I know that has an IPhone has been having problems with the new updates. By problems I mean my phone freezes all the time, all my apps crash, my keyboard is all jacked up, my phone randomly shuts off and the list continues...so annoying. I'm not a very technical person but I relate the problems to the new updates. Honestly, I think it's been happening as a way for Apple to make us buy the new IPhone...all the problems are starting to convince me to trade it in for an IPhone 4. They win.

YES! YES! YES! It totally hosed mine. Of ocurse, let me preface this by saying that my iPhone has been a piece of crap since day one. I have a 3G. When I first got it I could barely hear anyone on my phone even turned all the way up. After the frist update I did it was somewhat better but not great. After last one I did, it would shut itself off when I was texting or using the internet. A LOT! I could be sitting right beside my husband and have no bars. And he'd have wifi and I couldn't get it. Not a foot apart! Wrote Apple. They sent me a phone to use while they were fixing mine. This one does the same exact thing. I will NEVER have another iphone!

  • Update crashes???

Can someone please tell me why is it that every time there's an update for an application on my Ipone 3G, and I start to install the update for the app it crashes my iphone?? Every morning I always check the app store for new updates for my iphone, and once I select the update and type in my password the app will begin to update and then 80% of the time will crash, and I have to start over. Something that should only take a minute or two at the most, ends up taking a half hour because of either having to reboot my iphone or starting the update process all over. Any help from you guys would be well appreciated, or if someone is having the same problem fill me in.
    Thanx Guys!!

yea, from now on I'm only going to let my application update via the sync process on itunes. I've never had a problem updating an app that way, it's only when I click on the app icon on my 3G, and then click the update tab, and select; "update and install app" that I get problems. So from now on usually in the morning I'll connect my Iphone to my laptop to charge, or if I want to sync some new music, or app and I'll always make sure I check for app updates and install them that way. Maybe sometime soon Apple will be able to resolve this problem, because once in a while it's a big inconvenience if I'm not near my notebook and I want to update one of my apps. But hey DaVBMan you know that the number of awesome stuff on our Iphone out-weigh the bugs that still need to be ironed out by Apple, via firmware, and software updates. That last update that gave us version 2.0.1 fixed some of the major issues we were having, but there is still more that Apple needs to fix, or resolve. We as Iphone users need to be patient and understand that this is some of the newest cell technology out here, so of course there's going to be some trial & error, and Apple's research and development is going to need all of our input to help them. I encourage anyone who owns an Iphone to send Apple thier input and advice, but please do not be disrespectful, or obnoxious to them. I know it can get aggravating at times but we need to remain calm and let them help. Thanx for your thoughts on the issue bro! P.S. This is the best phone I've ever owned in my life!, and I've gone through many!!!(lol)

  • HT201269 I'm updating from my iPhone 4 to the iPhone 5 and have been 'restoring' for 2 hours now and the progress bar still states I hae 6 hours remaining. Will it really take this long? How long should a restore take? It's a 32gb device. Thanks.

I am having this problem.  At first with the new iPhone 5, and then with the iPad 2.  I am not sure why this is happening.
My gut feeling is this is an iO6 issue and here's why -
The problem mainly occurs with apps.  I have about 150 apps, and when I plugged in the phone, iTunes went to sync all of them.  The process would hang up after about 20 - 30 apps were loaded onto the phone. I could tell where about the process hung up because the apps on the phone showed up as "waiting".
Then on the iPad 2 I plugged in to sync and saw there was a huge "Other" component in my storage.  It required me to restore the iPad 2 from backup.  With this restore the same issues occurred - putting the apps back on the iPad would hang up.  The videos on the iPad also got stuck - maybe after about 10 hours of videos transfered iTunes crashed.
My solution has been to soft reset the device, restart Windows, and continue the process until it's complete.  This is remarkably inefficient and time-intensive but everything works with patience.
I have been wondering if others have had these same problems.

  • Newest update crashed my phone

help...newest update crashed my phone...now what?

Did you try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again? You will not lose data by resetting.
If this does not help, try to connect in recovery mode:
iOS: Unable to update or restore
If still no luck, contact Apple to get it serviced:
iPhone - Contact Support - Apple Support
