"Update current process" exclamation mark missing  in LR5?

Can someone tell my why my older images (in LR 5) don't have an exclamation mark asking me if I want to update them to the current process?
I was just reviewing some older .JPG files that were originally imported with Lightroom 2 or 3.   In the develop panel the old settings "Recovery" and "Fill Light" are displayed, which alerted me to the fact that the most current process is not being used.  If I remember correctly, there used to be an exclamation mark in the corner of each photo alerting me to this.
I discovered that if I right-click on the photos at the bottom of the screen, I can select "Develop Settings" / "Update to current process", but I found the exclamation mark to be more convenient.  I hope there is some way to get that feature back.
Thanks in advance for any tips :-)

The exclamation mark has been changed/moved in LR5. It's now a "lightning/thunderbolt" symbol underneath the histogram in the Develop Module. Hovering over the icon will tell you what the process version is, click on the icon will allow you to update it.

  • Is there a way to disable Update to Current process Exclamation mark?

Just opened some photos from last vacation with ACR 6.1, taken with my Canon compact. So, on this version, there is a possibility to use the old 2003 processing model, or the new one (2010). It's hard to make any claims which processing looks better for me after half an  hour of experimenting, but first impression is that 2003 is still more up to my taste on some landscape details, in particular waves far on the sea surface. On current 2010 process, whole sea surface looks a bit more plasticky, while interpolation artifacts (in vertical direction instead of horizontal) are moire visible. Tryed various settings of sharpening and noise reduction, but this (first) impression remains, although differences are subtle - 2010 still slightly remains me to intepolation method in DPP, which I don't like
If you choose 2003, exclamation mark persists in the lower right corner, offering update to 2010, which is a bit disturbing - you can choose it in the dropdown box. Is there a way to get rid of it, other that choosing 2010 processing ?
    Thanks

Hi Vit, that was my first impression too, but then I experimented with Process 2010 quite a bit more and finally came to the conclusion that with much tweaking it actually can be superior.  But it takes quite different parameters than the 2003 version did, so comparing the two isn't trivial.
However, I do recall thinking exactly what you are now, though - that I didn't care for the warning symbol assuming I really did want to use process 2003.  I have to wonder if process 2003 is destined for retirement in the next version, hence the stern warning.

  • Relinking missing photo/exclamation mark

I have a photo that "can't be found" in LR and has one of those exclamation marks i the top right of the photo.
I have clicked on it and pressed the Locate button on the pop up message and comes up with a Folder "iPod photo cache". clicking on the Folder, it has a series of empty Folders numbered F00-F50, an Apple tv photo database and a photos database. I don't see my photo anywhere. I have clicked on a number of the folders and they all appear empty.
I thought that the idea was that the missing photos would appear so can you tell me how to find and re link it.
Seeing that the file is called IPOD Photo cache, I have plugged my iPod into the laptop but that does not appear to make any difference and the exclamation mark is still present and cannot find the photo.
Hope there is a simple trick that I am missing here and that you can point it out to me.
    thanks

Missing photos don't just automatically appear when you choose the find missing photo option. You have to browse to the folder where you know the image is located and select the image. This will show Lightroom where the image is located on your hard drive. When the browser window opens in showing you the folder structure for the preview cache. These are previews are generated by Lightroom to facilitate the editing process. You need to use that dialogue box to navigate to the folder containing the real image and select the image. If you have a missing image, it's possible that you also have a missing folder. If you right-click on the missing folder you can choose to update the folder location. But again, you have to navigate to where the folder is located. Lightroom isn't going to find it automatically.

When I click on Firefox the first time it says "Foxfire is installing your updates and will start in a few moments…. (with a green bar)" then it says "Software Update Failed (in blue) with an exclamation mark inside a yellow triangle)
The update could not be installed. Please make sure there are no other copies of Firefox running on your computer, and then restart Firefox to try again." When I click the ok, Firefox opens up. If I open another Firefox window with the previous one still running, it doesn't give me any of these messages, it just opens normally.

    Every time Firefox opened

If you can't install on top of the current installation then you need to delete or rename the current Firefox program folder to do a clean install.
It is possible that your security software is using or locking files, so you can try to temporarily disable that software during the installation.

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
    Missing tracks
Typically this can happen because a file or folder is accidentally shunted to the wrong location. iTunes can also get confused if it expects to be talking to an external drive which isn't there. If will often reset the default media folder location and may have trouble finding files in the old folders.
Select one of your tracks that is missing in action. Press CTRL-I to Get Info. Cancel when asked to try to locate the file, then look at the location given on the summary tab. This where iTunes thinks the file ought to be? Now find out where it actually is. Post back the two locations for comparison. I should be able to give you some steps to reconnect everything once I can determine which of the things that might have gone wrong is most likely in your case.
When you get it all working make a backup!

  • IMovie Yellow Exclamation Mark - What's missing?

I have movies that I updated from iMovie 09. When loading the Project, in the Timeline, I see the title in the middle with a yellow exclamation mark. I'm not sure why this is there. I initially had music missing with red and some files missing for some Projects, but I fixed everything. It still shows the yellow exclamation mark. When I hover over it, nothing happens. I have an image of what it looks like. What am I missing from the Project?

    Hi,
    @Edwin
thanks for pointing me in the right direction Edwin. The problem was that I changed the name of the method after the def-file for the method has been created the first time. JDEV did not update the contents of this file (and/or the DataBindings.cpx). So the method name was wrong and I got errors running my test app.
I removed the task flow completely and set up a new one which is working as expected.
    @Juan
for me it looked like I couldn't call the method defined as default action. I got errors (which I didn't read carefully) stating the the method was missing (something like ...#[bindings....} not found). My conclusion was that the exclamation mark in the diagram stating that bindings is unknown was the cause.
The real cause of the problem I described above.
    Thanks
    Timo

  • Tracks missing with exclamation mark but in the cloud!!

For whatever reasons I am now missing at least 1000 tracks as each has beside it an exclamation mark inside a circle. If I open the track it asks that I locate or cancel - if I choose the latter it plays the track because it is is the cloud. I then hit the cloud symbol to download it.
Now whilst that process works how can I do that for all the missing tracks in just a few simple moves?
I have tried hitting the locate button but that does not seem to take me to the track presumably because it does not exist!
    Thank you.

Give us some background on your setup (in advance always helps if you want speedier resolution).  For example, if you have media on an external drive and do not turn on the drive (or the drive is sleeping) before starting iTunes, iTunes will see the files as misssing.  If you turned on the external after starting iTunes, iTunes will not have a second look until you try playing the track, then it will find it and play it.
Unless you see a file actually downloading from the Cloud it isn't coming  from there because the Cloud doesn't stream to computers.
Another way to fix the links is to say yes when it asks if you want to fix one.  Find the actual file on your computer which it needs to play (in your iTunes media folder), then say yes when it asks if it should find others.

  • Update to 11.4.0.18 causes majority of music library to show exclamation mark

    Good Morning!
I updated my itunes to version 11.4.0.18 in preparation for my new iphone. I took a backup of my old iphone and used that backup to setup my new phone.
However, the majority of my songs now display an exclamation mark. I see all of my music but the only songs that don't have an exclamation mark are the ones I have purchased from my iphone/itunes which is only about 100 out of 1000 songs.
I would really appreciate any help anyone could offer. I'm curious to know if anyone else have had this happen.
    Thanks!

The "missing file" thing happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout, or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then say no when asked to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions. I can provide a step by step guide if you give me the two paths.
In some cases iTunes may be able to repair itself if you go through the same steps and locate the lost track. It may then offer to attempt to automatically fix other broken links. Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes.

Q: Is there a way to place an image at 100% without having to do that extra resizing step?
I think here you want your images to fit in the full page size frame automatically. For this you can try the follwoing steps:
    1. Create a new doc
    2. Goto Object menu and choose Frame fitting options
    3. Select Autofit and from Fitting drowdown, select "Fit content to frame". Refer the screenshot below:
After this you images should automatically fit in the entire page placeholder frames. Please let me know if this does not work or if the problem you are facing is different and I did not understand your problem correctly.

  • Why does Visual STudio 2012 References keep showing Exclamation mark (which means assembly is missing) even after I specify the exact path?

Our web application at work requires Visual Studio 2012
For one of the projects within the Visual Studio 2012 Web Application Solution, we need the System.Web.Mvc in the References.
I already have the following in the packages folder:
    {blah...blah..Visual Studio Solution path..blah}\packages\Microsoft.AspNet.Mvc.5.1.1\lib\net45\System.Web.Mvc.dll
I keep adding it, but the References still shows the Exclamation mark ( which means missing) next to the System.Web.Mvc
Why does it keep showing the Exclamation mark ( which means missing) , even after I specify the exact path to the System.Web.Mvc.dll ?

    Hi cslewis33,
Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.
Based on your issue, if you want to add the System.Web.Mvc reference for a web application in VS2012. As far as l know that the System.Web.Mvc dll is default be located like this path:" C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft ASP.NET\ASP.NET MVC 4\Assemblies\System.Web.Mvc.dll.
So if you create the web app using c# language, I suggest you can right-click your Reference under the we application -> Add Reference->select the System.Web.Mvc in the Assemblies tab.
If the above suggestion still could not help you, I suggest you can consult this issue directly to the ASP.NET forum:http://forums.asp.net/ , maybe you will get better support.
    Thanks for your understanding.

  • No iTunes exclamation marks, but iTunes still says 70 songs are missing

    Hi all,
I have had this problem for a while now and haven't found it addressed anywhere online (tried searching in this forum as well as other forums through Google Search for quite a while).
    Here is the issue:
My music library occasionally shows exclamation marks due to me having moved some file or folder around. I am a very organized person, so I always make sure to locate all files and make all of the exclamation marks disappear. I go through my whole music library (a little over 3000 files) until I make sure there are no more exclamation marks. As I am on the last exclamation mark, and I am 100% sure I have checked all of the files and there are no other exclamation marks except for that one, iTunes still says that it wasn't able to find 70 songs in the dialog box after it has located the one with the last exclamation mark.I double-check and triple-check, but I am totally not able to locate any other exclamation marks after that final one.
What is going on here? Why does iTunes claim songs are missing when there are no exclamation marks?
Please don't suggest that I repopulate my library by deleting and then re-adding the songs to fix this issue. I am not willing to do that as it will lose my library, which is a highly customized one (not all songs on my drive are included, only the ones I want to have on my iPhone).
Looking forward to hearing any other suggestions.
    Thanks guys!

    Lost & Found Playlists
Create a playlist called Found, select everything in Music and drag it into the Found playlist (it may take some time to count the tracks that are to be dropped). Create a smart playlist called Lost matching All the rules Playlist is Music and Playlist is not Found. Your lost tracks will be in this playlist.
If the missing files can be tracked down are in vaguely standard artist & album folder I have a tool called FindTracks that could help repair the broken links. Alternatively if you just want to remove them then in the Lost playlist use Ctrl+A followed by Shift+Delete.
I assume you've determined that these links must be in music rather than say podcasts or audiobooks? Widen the search if required.
For the long run why not make a playlist for what goes on the iPhone and then import all of your media to the library?

  • Since the Nov update about a third of my songs have a circle with an exclamation mark inside it. These song will not play on my computer. I reload with my own cd collection, it works for a while then the same thing happens. Message says "Song could not be

Since Nov update about a third of my songs have a circle with an exclamation mark inside the circle. These songs will not play on my computer. Message says  "The song .... could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?"  I have reloaded these back onto itunes with my own CD collection. They work for a short while, then the same thing happens. I don't  know what is causing this or how to fix it.

I finally resolved my problem after spending way too much time on it. I simply handed my 160GB iPod to my husband to put his fav Stones & Beatles songs on and I went back to my 80GB Microsoft Zune which has never disappointed me.
After spending so much time trying to figure this out I did finally take it back to Apple Store who performed a diagnostic and found there was a problem with the device. They replaced it with a refurbished one which has similar issues. All I wanted to do was listen to my music. Was that too much to ask? So I am happy to be free of this problematic device. No more Apple for me!!
