If you have trouble finding the domain file in Time Machine you can try using  Find Any File to search your Time Machine hard drive for "Domain.sites2".  FAF can search areas that Spotlight can't, like invisible folders, packages, etc.
When you find the latest domain file in the serarch results window just drag it from that window to the Desktop.

  • How can I update existing website with Iweb after hard disc crash?

I created my website on iweb and published it (but not at mobile me). Unfortunately my hard disc crashed, before I saved my webpage. Now I bought a new web and want to update my published website. How do I open it in my new Iweb 9 to update it?
    Thanks for your help,
    orisu

Your iWeb data is stored, not in your actual published html files, but in a file called Domain.sites which is stored in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder. If you want to work on your site on another computer, copy this file to a thumb drive to move it around.

  • Multiple websites with iWeb?

I'd like to create multiple sites with iWeb. For instance, I'd like a personal site and a business site. Can this be done or are we only allowed a singel website?

    sjesser...
Since iWeb goes through every page in its calculations when publishing, you might find having two sites together in the same instance of iWeb to be cumbersome if you update one or the other site frequently. Additionally, if you ever plan on hosting your personal and business sites in different places, it will be impossible to edit or publish your two sites independently of one another.
The solution to this would be to keep your personal and business sites in different instances of iWeb....different Domain files. Since you have not yet made your second site, this may be a good time to adopt this practice. You can still publish both sites to the same .Mac account....the difference is that iWeb only has to go through one site when you publish.
Check out this program called iWebSites...
    http://mistergregg.com/cocoadrillosoftware/
This software will help you create and maintain fully separate websites with iWeb in an easy to use interface. This is the best time to start.....BEFORE you make that second site! Best of luck!

  • I am busy making a website with iweb. Do you know if it is possible to make a page with a slideshow which does not contain jpg's but other documents?

I am busy making a website with iweb. Can I only make a page with a slideshow containing jpg's? I would like to make a (pages) document with pictures and have this as a slideshow. Is that possible?

If you use Keynote rather than Pages you can export as HTML to get a slideshow...

Or you can use a JQuery slider that will display text, images, movies etc...

  • I created a website with iWeb but use GoDady for hosting it rather than MobileMe. The images on my Gallery page do not show at all on the external domain but they DO show when seen on MobileMe. Has anyone encountered this problem before? Many thanks!

    Hello al!
I created a website with iWeb but use GoDady for hosting it rather than MobileMe. The images on my Gallery page do not show at all on the external domain but they DO show when seen on MobileMe. Has anyone encountered this problem before? Many thanks!

Just create a new page (or use the existing photo page) on your external site and use html to add an iframe sized to the page and link it to the mobilme gallery page. Works for me just fine when showing my gallery from a yahoo site.
    like this
    <iframe scrolling="off" allowTransparency="true" frameborder="0" scrolling="yes" style="width:100%;height:100%;border:none" src="http://gallery.me.com/your_account_name"></iframe>

I knwo you use to be able to do it with MobileMe, but that's outdated now so could someone please help!

No, you cannot password protect a website with iWeb.
And no, you don't have to be a Mac kind of person either.
So how do they do it?

Will Image capture (in your applications foldr) see them and bring to disk? If so then once they are safely off the memory card and on disk use the camera's format command to reformat the memory card
and can you impoprted to iPhtoo from disk? Will preview open the photos on disk?

  • I've just finished building a new website with iWeb, I want to build a new site, how can I save the details from the first site?

    Hi There.
I've been building a new website with iWeb. Its now complete, but I will need to keep all the detasils involved as I make amendments from time to time. Now I want to start a new site on a completely different subject. But every time I go to start the new site, it just seems to be 'papering' over the details of the old one. How can I begin a completely new site without overwriting the details of the previous site, and where do I save the original site details to for easy access.
    Thanks,
    Gerbles

To create a new site in the same domain file use the File ➙ New File menu option.

  • How do I upload PDFs to .Mac website with iWeb?

Is there a way to upload documents such as PDFs to my .Mac website with iWeb and then link to them from iWeb pages such as Blogs?
17" iMac (Intel Core Duo)   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Yes, there are two ways of doing it:
The efficient, "every link points to the same guy" solution is to add the PDF to your page with Insert->Hyperlink->To File..., publish it, and copy the address into all references anywhere else (blogs).
The second way is to just link those PDFs locally in each reference. This isn't as efficient space-wise as above, but considerably easier.

  • Making iPhone Website with iWeb?

Is it possible to make an iPhone optimized website with iWeb? I would like for my website to know when you are using an iPhone and have an optimized site. There are a lot of these now on the internet. How do I do that?
    Kevin

Kevin ~ See this old thread:
And the width of your site is important...
Apple's own design award-winning site at apple.com mostly has a width of 980 pixels. Apple's developer guidelines for the iPhone/iPod touch say: "Safari on iPhone also sets the viewport width to 980 pixels, the width of most webpages." And: "...if your webpage is less than 980 pixels wide causing it to scale too small on iPhone..."

  • Updating website with iweb

    hello all....
    - I have just published my web site using 1.1.1.
    - It has several pages. (It's for school, each class has its own homework page)
    - How would I go about updating individual pages....
    a) make changes in iweb
    b) save
    c) now, how do I update the specific pages without uploading the entire thing?
    Thanks for any help.......lemon twist
    ibook   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    lemon twist...
Are you publishing to .Mac directly through iWeb? If so, just select "Publish to .Mac" when you are finished updating your site and iWeb will do some calculations and then upload only the changes that you made. iWeb will say that it is "Creating page..." for every page, but when it comes time to upload that window will go away and you will see the pie chart progress indicator while iWeb uploads only the changed pages...not your entire site.
If, on the other hand, you are hosting your iWeb pages on a 3rd party host, then your only choice is to use "Publish to Folder" after every update and then upload the entire site to your server with your FTP program.

  • Launching my Business' Website with iWeb '06

I'll try to keep this brief. Here's where I stand thusfar:
1.) I am putting together my small business' startup website using iWeb 06, due to its ease of use, having everything I need to make a nice startup site (particularly for my portfolio, blog & podcasting) & ability to update easily. However this WILL be a company site, so I need to find hosting besides mac.com.
2.) I own my domain names through Godaddy.com. I do have it set up right now to forward these addresses to my mac.com site.
3.) I need to add HTML code onto my site so I can have an opt-in list for those that want my newsletter.
4.) Eventually I will be selling my own products on my site, which I plan to use Paypal to handle payment. But I need a digital delivery system for my products.
I know there are many out there that have some great suggestions about programs & services that are ideal for the mac. Any info you could offer would be GREATLY appreciated. I am starting this up on a shoestring so money is a factor, however I see this as an investment & am willing to trade cash for ease of use (basically, if it's easy to use I'm willing to spend the cash on it).
    Thank you

Hey, thanks for your quick and helpful answer!
I wasn't sure it could be done with iWeb, since I tried to do it with my godaddy hosting package, and their off-the-rack website builder didn't allow for html code to be pasted. guess, iWeb allows for that.
My webdesigner told me, iWeb wasn't suitable for professional business websites (video & audio files, newsletters, autoresponders, password protected members' area, the works), only for granny sharing her fotos with her family... seems, he was wrong
    thanks again,
    Orlando

  • I updated my website on iWeb and now my site wont work...

After I made my site on iWeb, I had to update it and now i go to my site it shows up blank white. I noticed that i try to publish it after i did some changes to the pages and it takes SOO LONG! I'm not sure if i'm doing something wrong. I contacted my hosting company and they said it has to do with iWeb.

I contacted my hosting company and they said it has to do with iWeb.
Did they explain WHAT and WHY it has to do with iWeb?
You also may want to provide the URL of your website.
Without real, verifiable, factual information it's a bit difficult to guess.
In the meantime, go to your server to see with your own eyes what is there.
