Update failed something is preventing firefox from updating securely how do I fix this ?
Please can someone help me I have been getting from time to time an update box pop up that reads "Update Failed Something is preventing Firefox from updating securely. Please make sure that you have the latest version of Firefox from http://www.firefox.com", however my Firefox is up to date (I think). I have uninstalled then reinstalled but I'm still getting this error. I have been having this issue on and off for a couple of months and although I have posted before about this I'm still without a solution. I have looked into my programs folder as it tells me to in the help information to look for the active-update.xml, updates.xml and the updates folder and it's contents so I can delete them but I can't seem to find them. I'm definately not a computer whizz so any help anyone wants to offer needs to be in step by step form. Thanks

Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
*Firefox 20.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will lose all personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*(32 bit Windows) C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\
*(64 bit Windows) C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.

I get this error message: Something is preventing Firefox from updating securely. Please make sure that you have the latest version of Firefox. I have uninstalled and re-installed. It did not work. Support tells me to click on Firefox at the top. I have no word at the top which says Firefox. I have the Firefox icon.
This issue can be caused by the presence of leftover files in the Firefox program folder (defaults\pref) like a file firefox.js that overrides the update URL with a wrong link.
Do a clean reinstall and be sure to remove the Firefox program folder.
* Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
* Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

* Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

I have a screen shot of this warning. There is no Mozilla or Firefox logo on it. Is it from Mozilla?
Every time I get this message, I close the box via the red dot in the upper left-hand corner, go to the Mozilla site and download and install the latest version. A few days later, the message reappears.
Thank you for helping me.

Oak FreedAre you the adminstrator of your computer? Do you have a real time anti-virus / anti-malware program installed? Is firefox restricted by your firewall? Any one of these could be your problem. Could you tell me more about your computer please?

The 1st message goes on to say, "Please make sure that you have the latest version of Firefox from http://www.firefox.com." Assuming 4.0.1 is the latest version, it seems this is a bogus message and I haven't clicked on the link.
The 2nd message goes on to say something like, "if this continues [the attempt to trick Firefox into accepting an unsecure update], contact your network administrator."
I started getting the messages on all 4 of our PC's (2 desktops running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, 1 running XP 32-bit, & a laptop running Vista Home Basic 64-bit) after updating to Firefox 4.0 on them. I manually updated to 4.0.1 on all thinking that would stop the messages, but it hasn't.
I loaded & ran free versions of McAfee Stinger, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, and Super Anti-Spyware programs on all our PCs; each program found & repaired some infected files on each computer, but the messages continue on all.
Thanks for any help you can give.Apparently this occurs when Firefox has problems with security certificates. There have been a few questions about this. I will try to get advice about this.
Apparently you are using Internet Explorer 9 (From your system details). Do you have Google Updater plugin installed on Firefox ?
(That been implicated in this sort of problem by one poster, and some users with the problem do have Google Updater, but some do not) -
The mail app on my macbook pro is preventing me from shutting down, how do I fix this?
The mail app on my computer is open but nothing is displayed on the screen. When I go to shut down a small message appears saying "unable to shut down as mail is still open". However, when I try to close the mail app it won't let me. What do I do?
Thankspennbank is correct that holding the power button will stop the computer. But it stops *all* processes mid-step, which can leave some of OSX in an incorrect state because of pending internal file updates that were killed. I do not like to use that method if anything else will make it respond. For example, once the computer was not responding when I was using a BT trackpad. I eventually removed the batteries from the trackpad to force it dead, and the release of the BT channel freed the MBP.

Every now and then I will come back to my computer and see a message saying that something is preventing Firefox from updating correctly, am I sure that I have got the latest version.
Included in the message box is a link to www.firefox.com, when I click on the link I get a page with various downloads and a message saying that my Firefox is up to date. This issue can be caused by the presence of leftover files in the Firefox program folder (defaults\pref) like a file firefox.js that overrides the update URL with a wrong link.
Do a clean reinstall and be sure to remove the Firefox program folder to remove the file(s) that cause the problem.

I have recently updated my CC programs to the latest version (CC2014) and now all of my files wont open by default into their respective programs, only if I open the program and go to file>open and open the file from there. How can I fix this?
I have tried 'Open with' and the version of the program now installed on my computer isn't even suggested as an option and when I browse for it, the file wont open with it anywayOn Windows (don't know about Mac), the latest version will always take over the file association, and become the default for indd files. It's impossible to change it.
But there is a plugin for ID that makes this possible. Never tried it myself.

If your analog video device does not support device control, turn off device control. To do this, choose Preferences from the Edit menu, click the Device Control tab, then make sure the checkbox next to Enable Device Control doesn't have a checkmark in it.

My iphone 5 wont let me update apps keeps popping up with old apple id how do i fix this
my iphone 5 wont let me update apps keeps popping up with old apple id how do i fix this??
All apps downloaded/purchased are tied to the apple ID used to download/purchase them.
If you change your Apple ID and do not wish to use the old apple ID and password to update them, you have to delete them and redownload or buy them under the new apple ID. -

The APP update request came for 4 apps. I submitted update all, but the system is stuck and will not update. Further, I cannot use those apps. How do I fix this?
Two other things to try -
Power your iPad off for a minute and then back on again.
Double tap the Home button, locate the updating apps (one by one) in the bottom task bar, press on it until the red minus sign comes up and click it. Repeat for the remaining apps. Try the updates again but do them one by one rather than Update All. -

The first thing I did was UPDATE. I have all the latest updates available (according to the updater). The Camera Raw Plug-in says it is version 8.0.
The RAW files are from a Canon T3i. It's a very common camera, I can't believe it wouldn't be supported. -

I created my website from scratch (enjoyaquatics.com) but unfortunately a few of my pages don't work with Firefox nor Chrome. How do I fix this?
Everything looks and works GREAT on Safari but not Firefox, Chrome, nor Internet Explorer. The pages look fine in FF and Chrome on my Mac. Didn't check with Win XP.
If you use MSIE on a Mac, know that it became obsolete in 2003.
