Update failure caused Photoshop to quit working

Last night, I downloaded an update for Photoshop CS6, Windows 8, 64 bit.  The update failed, and I can't get PS to run at all.  How can I restore my program?  Bridge still works.  Thanks,

I have been trying various things to resolve the problem and now I have Photoshop working, but Bridge does not.  I got to this point by reinstalling CS-6. (3 times)
The last installation generated the following messages which I haven't beeen able to figure out:

    Windows maintains a reliability History. When an application like Photoshop stops working windows windows record that into the reliability history. So look at your system history and are what is recorde when Photoshop stoped working. Where is the failure. Here you see some that happened on my system.  The failures in CC and CC2014 happened in Windows and were cause by a device driver update. I updated the device driver to a newer version and test what cause Photoshop to stop working and now all is well,

                 I'm not sure I have the answers to all your questions. Although I use Photoshop and Lightroom extensively, I'm not a 'techy'.
    My system;
    Packard bell imedia S2885
    1TB hard drive
    500G RAM
    Windows 8.1   64- bit
    Intel core i5 4440
    If I open Photoshop cc14 without opening any image, I still get an error message that reads: 'Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver, and has temporarily disabled enhancements which use the graphics hardware'.
    There is also a link to the Adobe help site, but I'm not sure exactly what I should be downloading from there.

    However, the real issue is why the program is not working. Did you install anything recently?
    When you tried to re-install from the disk, did you shut off the antivirus program temporarily?
    Have you tried a system restore to a point in time when the program was working properly?

  • Photoshop CS4 quit working

    I upgraded from CS3 to CS4 several weeks ago, and everything seemed ok except for a few little quirks with onOne. I was able to work around these issues and thought CS4 was great. Now the problem.......I tried to open CS4 yesterday and it would not open. Blue box came on screen and went through the process like it was launching, then message came up "CS4 has quit working". The program closed and continues to do this every time I try to open it. CS3 works, Bridge works, Lightroom works, only the CS4 will not work.
    I uninstalled it and reinstalled the program. Everythig loaded fine with no messages or problems. But.........it still will not work. I need help!

    Is the OnOne software already updated to a CS4 compatible version? If not, it may completely mess up things. This is a known problem.

  • IPhone 5 update 6.1.3 speaker quit working after update

    After update 6.1.3 on my iPhone 5 my speaker quit working. Did a restore still nothing. Headphones work just fine. No speaker phone or music.

    Plugged into iTunes - told me to update to 6.1.3.  Did its thing... and no sound from speaker.  This happened immediately following the completion of the update - I didn't even pick up the phone.  ***!
    Headphone works fine, but I get zippo from the speaker except an occasional crackle.
    Turned off BT, reset settings, plugged and unplugged the headphones (to see if the sensor was stuck), rebooted the phone, did a restore to factory, everything I could think of.  Speaker is dead.
    Don't  perform this update - something's wrong.
    Now I've got a useless piece of junk and I keep missing incoming calls.  Nice job Apple!

  • Working on Windows 7, ran automatic updates recently, now Photoshop CS5 not working

    Hi there. I recently got a new laptop with Windows 7. I installed PS CS5 and have been using it with no problems until I ran automatic updates the day before yesterday, now my PS CS5 ACTS like it's open but really isn't. I can't view the screen, see any files, open anything from Bridge, etc. But when I go to shut down the computer, it tells me PS is running. I can shut it down in Task Manager but otherwise, I can't see that it's open. I've uninstalled it and reinstalled and the problem still happens. Any ideas? Did some service pack wipe out my ability to view PS? Bridge opens just fine, as does Lightroom. Any ideas? I'm a professional photographer and this totally has affected my workflow!! Please help. By the way, I can open PS CS3.

    Don't ever allow windows to run updates in the auto mode. Change it to where you can run the updater but choose what you want to update. Video card drivers are the worst offender in auto-update. You never know what hits you until the update is done.
    You can also do a system restore too. Go back to a date before the updates. Then see if that works. Then go into windows update and change it from auto to manual so you can choose the updates. Stay away from the video card update.
    You can go to www.amd.com and look for your crad drivers. Some laptops allow AMD to publish updated driver and some don't. Since you did put the name of the laptop in your post it is best for you to go there and look. The drivers will be mobility drivers. Download the 10.8 mobility driver package.
    If you find the drivers download them to your desk top. A download icon will be made. Click on that Icon to download the software. This new icon is the actual software.
    Right click on that icon, choose properties, general tab. There should be something about unlocking the file below. Click to unlock then hit apply. Then choose compatibility tab, put a check mark in run as Admin, hit apply, then ok to close. Some people don't do this step but I do to ensure the proper security levels are met (but not needed to do so your choice).
    Click on the icon again to install software. when you come to a screen with the option to install/uninstall the software, choose uninstall. Let it run its course. The screen will flicker and you will see the screen go away and come back bigger (no drivers). When done reboot computer.
    Click on that icon again but now you want to choose install software. Let it run its course. The screen will flicker and screen will go away and come back.
    Reboot computer.
    Hope the drivers work. If they don't go back to system restore and choose a point where you had the good drivers and CS5 worked.

    You don't have "Photoshop" proper.  You have a cheapo emasculated version called Photoshop Elements.  That is NOT Photoshop.

  • Any thoughts why updating template causes menu to not work?

    Sorry for the repost, but several pages have gone by and no one has been able to offer even a glimmer of hope.
    I am having an issue where any changes whatsoever to the template cause the JS dropdown menu to stop working. This happens to both templates that I use.
    I can make changes to child pages, and everything stays working. But on the template itself, even insignificant changes like changing HOURS to HOUR causes the issue.

    Wow. Thanks for writing.
    It is a site I've inherited. It hasn't been updated in two years because of chronic problems.
    I first accessed the templates with DW CS4 on an iMac. Then began using DW CS3 on a WinXP machine.
    The menu is JavaScript.. I think the script is called mmLoadMenus.
    I would do the pages manually except for all the PHP.
    Perhaps my process is flawed, so here is what I do:
    I copied the htdocs folder from the Apache server as backup and make yet another copy to work on. I then either upload modified pages to another server for testing, or change the extension to .html for local testing.
    By this method, I can do anything I want to child pages and retain full menu functionality. But any minor template change- adding or removing a character or inserting Google codes- causes the drop-down menu to stop working.

  • Photoshop CS6 Quit working ERROR 16

    Ever since i updated to Mav's on Mac Pro entire Adobe Suite CS6 fails to run
    all error 16.
    followed ADOBE FIX instuctions on "Error 16" permisions. Nothing worked. Removed product, reinstalled product, nothing works.
    Re-installed Maverics. still does not work.
    I called Apple, they said it is a known issue with Adobe Licnece server to contact adobe for patch and support.
    Adobe does not have a phone number to call because all their products are so disfunctinal they cant post a phone number as it would overload circuits.
    How do i fix it.  ADOBE of course wants me to rent the apps with the cloud thing... Yea nice exstortion break everyones CS6 Creative products and force them to rent them back.
    Please help if you have a solution.

    We are really sorry for the trouble caused by this .
    I believe when you have migrated from your older machine to the New Mac, you used Time Machine for the same ? If you did my suggestion would be to remove the product once , navigate to /Lib/Applicationsupport and rename the Adobe folder . Post this ,please reinstall the product again .

    This is usually hardware error of WiFi Chip. Try Settings App > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. See if fixed. If still problem, Restore iPhone with current iTunes on computer. If still problem, and if there is Warranty or AppleCare make Genius reservation or set up Service and take or send iPhone to Apple for resolution.

    thank you so much for these gracious replies, i then tried compatibility mode but to no avail. my previous computer on which it worked
    is xp service pack 3... 32bit. the compatibility mode was tried on sp2 and sp3 but still i get that heart stopping message.
    Pardon my whining but i was so excited about my new computer, and now i can't open the program i use/need the most.
    I would love to have some more suggestions if you all have other things i can try.
