Update firmware OTA N96 (fp2)

dearl all
really need your help.
does any one can help with device manager setting to upgrade firmware OTA.
when we dial *#0000# ( Fp2) will show our device manager and when chose check for update phone need a "server profile"
i realy need this profile since i cant update via NSU.
i have old firmware of N96 here 10.013 now new firmware is 10.065
need your help plz

Your asking a user-to-user forum for advice on updating a phone that is not officially launched yet. Of course it is not supported by NSU or by OTA updates yet.
Where did you buy it from? If the IMEI number begins with '00' instead of '35' then you have a prototype device which nobody had the right to sell to you, it remains always the property of the manufacturer - and if this is the case it could explain your problems as a prototype may not be the final version, it may in fact be far from complete.
Assuming that it is a genuine CE model with a '35' IMEI number, you may have one of the early releases which are not for sale but are provided to retailers and networks to review prior to launch to review.
A prototype will have no warranty as it was never intended for sale, a normal device given to a third party prior to the launch may also not be warrantied - the best thing to do is to check with Nokia customer services to check its status because there is good reason to suspect you have been sold a phone under false pretences and you should in that case have recourse with whoever sold it to you.

  • IOS 8 update via OTA bricked my iPhone 4s. Error 2006

iOS 8 update via OTA bricked my iPhone 4s. Error 2006
Done a update on my iPhone 4s 64GB phone. done it over the air then comes up in recovery mode.  so plugged in iTunes (most up today on a macbook pro) downloaded IOS8 again then when i do a restore it comes up with the error message "The iPhone "IPhone" could not be restored. an unknown error occurred (2006)
Computer: macbook pro  15" mid 2012
2nd computer: just been rebuild with windows 7 on it all up today and latest iTunes,
    Cable: 3nd Party
Cable: Apples down brand only 2 days old as bought this one for in the office, (and seems to work with backing up my iPhone on to my macbook pro)
also restarted the machines and checked again for any updates  nothing els plugged in to any of the laptops and it makes no change still get the same error message.
anyone have any clue what is going on.
also i have never called my iPhone "iPhone" (from the error message) must of been a bad install of ios8 (OTA) to bring that name up.

My Iphone 5 got stuck right after I installed iOS8 also.  Mine would not let me past the Hello page.  I had an iCloud backup, so this is what I did.
Downloaded iOS 7.1.2 to my computer. http://www.iclarified.com/750/where-to-download-iphone-firmware-files-from
    Restored My iPhone using iTunes.
    -Launch iTunes
-Plug phone into computer and hold down the sleep button and wake button on your phone until it shows iTunes restore
-Hold Shift in windows 7 while you click restore in iTunes
This will erase everything on your phone and install a fresh version of 7.1.2
I had an icloud backup so I applied that to get all my files and settings back.  (you can not apply a backup from iOS7 onto iOS8 so that is why I did everything above)
I then tried to install the iOS8 update from iTunes instead of over the air.  No luck there either.
I guess I will stick with iOS7 untill the next build.
I hope this helps.  Remember if you do not have a backup that includes all your pictures and such don't do this Because all will be lost.
Has anyone else got iOS8 installed just to get stuck on the Hello page?

  • NSU vs OTA: N96 Speed Comparison

After updating the system, would you say the N96's overall performance is faster if "updated via PC" or "if updated via OTA"?
I found this at Nokia's Web Site: They are recommending OTA when updating N96 as well as 5800xm.

It is irrelevant which method you use as the performance of the phone afterwards will be exactly the same. This is because of the user data preservation (UDP) feature that both models have.
In the past when an NSU update wiped the phones contents you would always see a boost in performance because of the "fresh start".  If you want a fresh start on a UDP enabled device you can wipe it using *#7370#.  This works whatever method you used for the update.
When an update is widely available OTA the nokia website often recommends that method first as it's the simplest, most reliable and available to more users.

I have recently upgraded my iMac Intel G5 iSight (iMac5,1) to OS 10.6.8 and now the internal mic does not work with skype or facebook. I can here static when playing back clips. Do I need to update firmware or reload old system parts. I have zapped PRAM. The blue indicator in system audio panel will appear for a second as I slide the bar for internal mic but then it disappears. Is there a fix?

The sound seems very faint but can here static on playback.

"This software is not supported on your system."
    please help me thanks

OK, so the firmware is the same as mine, and yet Apple Support offered this EFI and SMC update packages, which should give a message that our computers are updated.
However, the update packages fail to run.
Did Apple neglect to give the correct update for the mid-2012 issue of MacBook Pro 13-inch?  I have the i7 Intel processor, instead of the i5, and I was sold this unit as having two processors, but the System info only lists a single processor.
Is one of the problems with Intel-based MacBook Pro units that the integration wasn't without bugs that cause processor hang when running the OS Lion, even with updates to 10.7.5?
Shouldn't the EFI and SMC updaters run on these machines as stated in the Apple Support article?
What will Apple do for these customers?

  • How to install OS 9.2.1 on G3 with no OS; says needs updated firmware, how?

I am trying to install OS 9.2.1 in an old G3 which at present has no OS in it.
The screen says it needs updated firmware to do so. When I try to follow instructions, it tells me the CD is locked, which is obvious since it is an installation CD. Other instructions seem to assume there is already an older OS in the machine to update. Anyone with an idea of how to break this log jam?
    [email protected]

    Hi wmarina !
Welcome to the Discussions, and Happy Thanksgiving!
The only G3 that will give you a Firmware Update warning when trying to install OS 9, is a Blue & White G3 tower.......
If that's what you have, then getting OS 9 onto it is a bit of a Catch-22, Can o' Worms, P.I.T.A., or whatever other favorite sayings you may have for a difficult job........
"Other instructions seem to assume there is already an older OS in the machine to update."
Very astute observation, and 100% correct.
The OS that is assumed to be on the B&W's drive is MINIMUM 8.5.1, and therein lies the Catch-22.....
A BOOTABLE 8.5.1 Install CD is NOT available as a RETAIL CD........
The Retail CD is 8.5 install, with the 8.5.1 UPDATER, which is also on the CD.......
The 2nd part of this problem is that the Firmware Updater (which is on the OS9.1 CD) MUST be run from the booted Hard Drive with 8.5.1 on it.........
    Your options are:
    1. Find a set of the ORIGINAL SOFTWARE CDs that shipped with a Blue & White G3, and install the original OS from there.........
    2. Do what I had to do. Take out the Hard Drive and move it to an older Mac (i.e. Beige), and install OS 8.5 on it, and update it to 8.5.1, take the Hard Drive out and re-install it into the B&W again, boot to it, and do the Firmware update at that time.........
Note that NO Mac can boot to an EARLIER version OS than it shipped with when new, which is why you will have to use a beige to install 8.5.1 to that hard drive........
As a secondary note, to avoid more problems, get a new Pram battery (1/2 AA 3.6V).
    Available at any Radio Shack.
    Good Luck !

Can't update firmware on Officejet Pro 8610, Hp update site shows available firmware update needed, disabled firewall, shut off wireless, run program, window for update appears, but checkbox greyed out. I've talked to HP Tech, He was positive newer firmware was available, I've tried starting in safe mode w/networking, disabled, MS Security essentials turned off, etc. Have Dell Dimension, excellent running, Windows 7 Home Premium, Xfinity cable network modem (very fast), I'm getting frustrated.
Does anybody have a suggestion? Thanks, Jim

External hard drive connected to my airport extreme will no longer open, when navigating to it in Finder, the Finder window quits and reopens, cannot access hard drive, it is visible in airport utility, since the problem began I have updated firmware on Extreme as well as both of my Airport Expresses. Hard drive is USB connected to Extreme.

Reboot the USB drive.. assuming it is powered.. or unplug and replug a self-powered drive.. (you should not use self-powered drives on AE before the latest model.. always use a powered hub).
Does the drive now appear in finder..
If not reboot both drive and the AE.. it should now appear.
If it doesn't work with direct connection try a powered hub.. that can help.

  • Kernel panics after updating firmware

Kernel panics began at startup after updating firmware about 2 weeks ago. Went through the KP repair routines prescribed by thexlab.com. Found no problems with the hard drive, permissions, etc. Did erase and install (with Leopard OS dvd bought from best buy) after archiving files to external HD and was able to startup normally. Updated OS to 10.5.7, along with several other items (iTunes was one of them). Put previously copied files (mostly iTunes). The computer ran successfully for a few days and then started getting KP's at startup again. Did another erase and install. Had success. Loaded iLife and Office 08 to have something to try to test the machine with. Shut down the computer and restarted successfully. I had forgotten I had not tested the RAM so downloaded Memtest. Tried to run it but the computer froze half way through the test. Did a hard shutdown, then tried to restart normally and got the KP again at startup. Here is the panic log:

  • Updated firmware of Creative Zen Nano P

Questions?. Why do i need to download new updated firmware every now and then?2. WHat is the disadvantages if i don't download new updated firmware every now and then?3. What is the difference of the updated firmwares found in creative download section and the DAPJukebox website?4. Which is has the best quality firmwares, the creative download section or the DAPJukebox website?thanks?

All software regardless how good the quality control will have bugs.
Firmware is just software that is stored in the hardware on your device. New firmware is often released by a company to fix bugs or possibly add functionality that could enhance the use of a device.
But it is also possible that a new firmware update might add a new bug or two. (a rare occurance)?Sometimes (unfortunatly) new firmware upgrades can end up removing a feature.
For example it appears creative was under some legal pressure to remove the radio recording feature from there devices. On the ZVM, it was removed in one firmware upgrade, then in a later one it was replaced. On the Zen Nano Plus it was removed in the latest firmware upgrade (which is actually a bit old in calendar terms right now), but they have not released a later version that adds the recording back in. So in the case o fthe Zen Nano Plus, an firmware upgrade could be considered a bad thing.
If you require and use the radio recording functionality, then upgrading to the latest version (to fix some minor bugs) could end up crippling some of the functionality of the device. Normally when new firmware is released, there are notes detailing changes in functionality, bugs fixed, and even bugs that still exist. By looking at the information you can determine if you want/need to upgrade to the latest firmware.
Since there is some inherent risk in upgrading a firmware, most people don't upgrade firmware unless they need the new functionality or are experiencing a bug of some kind on the device that the new firmware might possibly remedy.

  • I have Lion on my 13" pro and have kept it up to date. Today I had a message about the need to update firmware. I pressed restart and there was language about the screen ging gray. I think it said for a few minutes.  It has been 3 hrs. is this a problem?.

I got an alert to update firmware. When I click for restart a message the screen would gray and and it might ake a few minutes.  That was about three hours ago and it is still gray and sitting there. Is this to be expected? What could/should I do?  I am typing this on an ipad because the Macboob Pro is currently useless.

With Firmware updates, Apple will usually offer instructions to complete the update, since they require an additional step to complete. It sounds like you haven't finished the Firmware update completely.
Since it's your computer and investment, I wouldn't risk it and would visit your local Apple Store and let them solve the problem. In the meantime, read this link from Apple:

  • Must update firmware before installing OSX Tiger on OS9

I'm trying to bring an iMac G3 with OS9 to life. It's brand new, never been used before, and doesn't yet have internet. I will get internet (Airport Card) soon, but first have a software update problem.
After starting the iMac, I have inserted the install DVD for Tiger. The computer says it must restart to install, and when it restarts, the computer says it must update firmware before installing. I have to choose a system with which it will start up and my choices are:
    OS9: Hard Drive
    OSX: Install DVD
My 3rd option searches for a location, and ends up restarting in OS9.
Every option either results in the inevitable error message that the firmware needs updating or using the OS9 environment.
I read Apple support saying that firmware needs to be updated to fix this problem. Support suggests updating firmware from the OSX install DVD, but I haven't found such updates on the DVD, and need to overcome the firmware problem.
Please help, I am anxious to use my computer!
    Thank you!

    Hi, Kristine -
    Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
You can download the firmware update you need from either of these Apple KBase articles -
Article #58174 - iMac: When to Install Available Updaters
    Article #86117 - Firmware Updates
In order to install the firmware update, the machine must be booted to OS 9 on its internal hard drive. It's a good idea to have no external devices connected when you do it, other than the keyboard and mouse. If you can, print out the ReadMe that accompanies the update.
