Update Firmware- Windows Vista

Hello everyone,
I am trying to update my N95 firmware to version 30 (it gave the the option automatically via Nokia Pc Suite but it gives me error every time I try it. I could update the fimware fine so far using XP but first time I try with VISTA ant it gives me error. Maybe I need to do something different this time...

i meant updates to the NSU itself .
you've been notified of an update to your phones software that's different . problems you're facing is quite common with vista.
a quick look at the forum will show you that a lot of people complained and were adviced regarding the connection problems.

word of advice : don't risk it if you're not sure what to do, if you feel that you can't do it, please leave this to the nokia care point to do, otherwise you might end up with a bricked non-functioning handset.

I downloaded the latest important update to windows vista yesterday, and since then Firefox crashes very soon after enetering the portal of any website I visit, and I want to know if the windows vista update could be doing this?

Yesterday (23rd March) my computer appeared to perform an auto update of windows vista and since then every time time use firefox it crashes shortly after entering a web portal (after about 1-5 seconds). It even crashes on the BBC news page which I always use to check stability. I have been using Firefox for years and it has just started doing this. However, I examined the programme files and actaully cannot see a windows vista update for yesterday, but I can see that there was a Firefox update, so now I'm a bit confused. Looking at the program files in more details it appears that there was a very major update of Firefox taking place including lots of file extensions. You should also know that your password recovery process doesn't work. I never got the email that is supposed to help me recover a lost password. I am really disappointed with Firefox doing this. It's costing me time and money. Can you help before I give up and go back to using Windows explorer (ugh!). I have thought of simply removing Firefox and starting again with a new download but that might not solve the probelm and I will lose my bookmarks.

I have an update to my message posted yesterday regarding Firefox crash after vista update. Today it got worse when Firefox wouldn't open at all and Windows explorer also stopped working. Curiously, email was still working, and when I checked another (little used) account on the same PC, I got a perfect connection with Firefox and Explorer. I had to conclude that the latest updates of Vista have interacted with some application only found in my main account on the PC. I tried opening Firefox in its safe mode and I tried opening explorer without Plug ins, but neither worked. Finally I decided the only answer was to do a system restore and wind back the windows software to where it was before the problem. I now have Firefox and explorer restored to working order, but I still don't understand why, because I got a message saying the system restore hasn't worked. Full Comprehension of the cause is beyond my capability, but through trial and error as described above I seem to have fixed it. The suspect vista updates are KB2505189 , and KB2524375.

ITunes Update for Windows Vista 64 bit

Does anybody know when this is going to be released. I got an iPhone and can't sync it with the latest version of Windows Vista. The friendly staff at AT&T forgot to tell me that I would not be able to use my iPhone until iTunes came out with an update for Windows Vista.

As I said in your other post, go to www.microsoft.com or contact your computer manufacturer for help. This is a Windows problem, not an iPod problem.

ITunes will not update on Windows Vista Inspiron 1525

I have a Windows Vista Inspiron 1525 and iTunes version 9.1 or something. Every time I try to update iTunes/QuickTime to 9.2 or 10.0, it starts installing but stops after awhile. Please comment, whether you have a similar issue or have a solution to this problem. Thank you!

King Penguin set you on the right track. It's probably security software not recognizing the new version of itunes, and blocking it.

ITunes 10 will not connect to Store, let me sign in, check for updates on Windows Vista 32 bit.

Has anyone had trouble connecting to the iTunes Store while using Itunes 10 for PC?
I cannot check for updates, sign in, or connect to the store so all my app downloads must be done from my device.
Using:
Windows Vista 32-bit.

8.2.4 update trouble - Windows Vista. Can anyone help?

I run Windows Vista on my Dell Inspiron E1505. I allowed an auto-update of 8.2.4 and I'm hosed.
Word will not produce a PDF. Acrobat acts buggy at every turn. I am asked to register everytime I open the program (though, in truth, I think this began with the last critical update).
I've seen on another forum where this problem manifested inself in MAC OS, but I can't seem to find where Windows users are having this problem.
Can anyone assist me?
Here the hitch. I have CS2, which includes Acrobat 7. I can't recall buying 8, though I don't pirate software (I was a furniture designer for years and respect creative license). Does anyone know if CS2 upgrades Acrobat to 8? I have my CS2 package and can work from those discs if I need to completely uninstall Acrobat 8 and start over. Alternately, I may have purchased 8 as a download. Is there an objective way of knowing from within the program or on my computer?

Launch Acrobat and go to 'Help'->'About Acrobat' and check the version number of the installed software. Since you have updated to 8.2.4, i am sure you have acrobat 8 installed.
You can try repairing the installation by again going to Help->Repair, this should solve your problem.
Alternatively, if this does not solve your problem, then you can try reinstalling your Acrobat 8 program.

Blackberry Media sync crashes after updating in Windows Vista

Hi, I installed Desktop Manager v4.6. in Windows Vista Business edition. When I try to use the Media Manager, it tells me that the Blackberry Media Sync is not installed and it prompts me if I want to install it. After it downloads and attempts to install the Media Sync, it crashes, it says "Blackberry Desktop manager has stopped working" and you can only Close the program or check online for solutions (which they don't give you any). Any ideas why this happens?

Personally, I don't use Media Manager. Don't like it.
You can enable Mass Storage on your Media Card and drag and drop files to and from the Media Card quite easily.

Flash Player 11 Update for Windows Vista

I have automatic updates set up on my HP, which runs Windows Vista. When the auto-update came up, my McAfee anti-spyware also came up, asking if I wanted to run it [because it wasn't sure about it, I guess].
I said yes, clicked yes for the update (I believe it's for Flash Player 11) and as soon as it finished installation, McAfee told me it had found & deleted a trojan.
And then something for "Microsoft Vista Antispyware 2012" came up, which I know is an actual virus.
Has anyone else had this problem on a PC? Was it coincidence that it happened with the Flash update or was it attached to Flash?

Looking at the Adobe site, it looks like Flash Player 11 auto-update was incompatible with Vista. Which doesn't explain where the virus came from or why McAfee acted up.
Yes, the 64-bit installer only works with Windows 7.
The 64-bit Active X Flash Player needs to be removed and the 32-bit Flash Player for other browsers installed.

Rescue and Recovery after update from Windows Vista to 7

I've updated my 2 years old Lenovo T60 from the preinstalled Windows Vista to Windows 7. For short: I like it.
I kept the recovery partition but now want to update it, to keep it in sync with the current windows and Rescue and Recovery versions. By the way, due to earlier problems the system in this versions is not functional anymore. I tied to read the manual of Rescue and Recovery, but didn't get it...
Is their an "easy" way (or documentation) to accomplish that?

The factory partition can't be updated - it is your recovery for what came out of the box with the system. You can create factory recovery CD's/DVD's and store them somewhere just in case, and then you should be able to remove that partition and reclaim the space. At that point, Rescue and Recovery for Win7 becomes your sole recovery option.
There is a lot of new architecture in the Win7 version of R&R so you can't "upgrade" it from Vista - you'll need to install the new version in Win7. It would probably be a good idea to burn your Vista Rescue and Recovery backups to CD/DVD before you upgrade, too.

Hi it works for my Windows 7 but not after I reformat my computer.
I highly suspect that v3.1.3 OS is making the difference as previously I was able to tether.

Creative update effected windows vista.

I had a problem which started about two weeks ago preventing me from opening the Control Panel. I opened the Control Panel but got the message Windows Explorer has stopped working. The message then changed to Windows Explorer has re-started but Control panel closed.
I run Vista 32.
I eventually stripped my system, re-formatted the drive and re-loaded Windows Vista.
I then loaded each program and checked at the end of each installation making sure Windows Explorer was still working and I could open the Control Panel.
I then loaded Creative soft ware (I have an X-Fi) card. On installation of the original CD about two years old, I could open the Control Panel. I then updated this software from internet down loads. This included new drivers. On completion I could not open the Control Panel but got the message Windows Explorer has stopped working. The message then changed to Windows Explorer has re-started but Control panel closes as before. The problem is being cause by the update to my sound card which occurred automatically if your computer is set up for automatic updating of this feature.
I again wiped my computer, re-loaded all but no Creative updates and all is well.
I hope this solves your problem and that Creative addresses this problem.

Error 3194 when trying to restore or update. Windows Vista

Whenever I plug my iphone in to my windows vista computer with newest itunes i get an unknown error occurred(3194) i have called apple and he said he cant help me cause he aint a windows technician. I tried all the troubleshooting and it doesnt work. HELPP

Doublechecking, reece. Have you checked your Hosts file?
Follow iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting to edit the hosts file or revert to default on Windows. See section "Blocked by configuration: (Mac OS X/Windows) > Rebuild network information".

5002 error when updating Apps Windows Vista

Past week continually getting this error message saying there was a problem with the iTunes Store, please try again later.
I have contacted Apple support by email and have a case number. I have followed the advice given including re-entering payment details, re-installing iTunes to ensure I have the latest version, deleting the SI directory, and other actions.
I can still update Apps in my iPad. Anyone else getting this? Not to happy with unknow error, please try again later

Just tried again, downloaded App updates from iTunes on my VAIO Vista PC.
Apologies for being so impatient! Still do not like unkown error in iTunes store message as it seems unprofessional not to know what was wrong.
