Update Flash Player over an Intranet for restricted users
We need to update all flash players in the company to version
9 to get Flex build apps working.
We tried the Flash Player Detection Kit and Flash Player
auto-update without succes!
Problem is we have a few 1.000 employees without Interent
access and without install rights on their desktop/notebook. So we
need to do a 'quiet' installation/update from within our company
Intranet. Is this possible?
Ps.: MSM is not an option (for the moment).
One more note: this seems to be random. I tested it again and
this time the download link shows up....tested it another hour
later...and it didn't. There most be some if/else case that is not
outputing the download link...I'm not sure what the condition could
be.

Antivirus exclusions for updating Flash Player
We are trying to get it so that all of our PC's can automatically update Flash Player (due to all of the recent updates) rather than have me download the redistributable and push it out over Zenworks.
When we do this, McAfee ePO 8.8i is apparently blocking the Flash Player install.
What do we need to list as an exception/exclusion from McAfee so that we can accomplish the updates? My List would be:
InstallFlashPlayer.exe
FlashUtil*_ActiveX.exe
install_flashplayer*.exe (maybe install_flashplayer*aih.exe?)
FP_AX_CAB_INSTALLER64.exe
My concern with using the wildcards is the enormous amount of spyware that might be introduced because of this. Is there anything else I can do?

When the Mac was setup you had to create an administrative password.and account. Yo have to sign into that account to install apps/plug-ins like Flash. To reset that password.

Anyone else having trouble with flash player over working the processor since the security update?

Since the last security update (flash player version 11.7.700.169) I have been having trouble with flash player beating the daylights out of my processor. My OS is Windows XP. This only happens on some sites, not all. For example netflix and amazon are fine, but acorn and huffington post videos send the processor into overdrive. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Yes, it's fine for your Mac ...
Most sites such as YouTube require the Flash plugin.
Flash isn't a player per se, but a plugin.
Sometimes uninstalling the current plugin then reinstalling new can help.
Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
Make sure and uninstall the old plugin first then restart your Mac.
If you use Safari to view videos, from the Safari menu bar click Safari > Empty Cache
Now try a video.

2 hours to update Flash Player ???
I've been on Option 3 since January 2011 and I'm aware of the traffic shaping that applies to file sharing. It has been mildly irritating but I've usually managed to find a direct download of the file(s) I need....usually Open source Linux of various varieties.
On most of what I use the traffic shaping policy has little effect but last night (Sunday 3/4/11) I needed to update Flash Player in Internet Explorer on Windows before I was able to use some of the functionality on eBay. It took from approx 7.30 p.m. to approx. 9.30 p.m. for the Adobe Download Manager to download the update which normally takes only a few minutes (i.p. profile 6500 <200yds from exchange).
My guess from the time taken and time/day, a rough guess as to file size, and knowing that traffic shaping/////// throttling cuts download speed to 10-20k, leads me to think that the Ellacoyas are rating Adobe DLM as file sharing. Might I be correct?
Could someone point me in the right direction about making my views known to the management about this without ending up wasting my time?
File sharing is one thing which we can argue over until the cows come home but security updates are IMHO something of benefit to all including the ISP especially (reduced spam etc.).

Go to Solution.Yeah but Ubuntu (I'm using it) has flash in the repos. I actually booted into Kubuntu via Live USB last night and went to adobes site and selected to download for Windows/Internet Explorer. It was slow as heck.
I also took a screengrab of it but for some strange reason the grab looks as though it's behind running water.. lol

Update Flash Player Multiple iMac's
Hello Everyone,
I work in an elementary school in ohio. I have been working with apple remote desktop trying to install adobe flash player in a lab we have. We use a generic login in our lab and everywhere else so that the little kids do not have to remember a username and password. I am trying to avoid having to update 40 computers at once by hand. I went to the lab and downloaded the update for adobe flash, but before installing i right clicked and did a show package contents. I then went to the resources folder and then contents folder and found the .pkg file in there. I had read on other forums that installing this would suffice to installing the update. I used apple remote desktop to install the pkg file and forced the computers to restart, after it came back up I logged in as the generic login and low and behold it still wanted me to update flash player. If anyone has any good advice for my situation I would greatly appreciate it!!!

I have to reinstall/update Flash player everyday?
Hi I am a Mac user (MAC OSX 10.6.8) and I use safari as my main browser. (safari version 5.1.5)
The thing is when I try to watch youtube videos, at least once a day my video just turns black, or it says 'plug-in failure'.
I found that the solution for this is updating the flash player, but since this happens everyday I am updating flash everyday.
Everytime I update flash player, the videos work fine.
Last time I installed Flash player was yesterday, the latest version possible, and yet the problem occurred just now.
When I install flash player, I do not uninstall previous versions , simply because it worked fine with them.
Could that be the main problem?
I'm just getting really sick of updating this everyday, force quitting all my browsers and losing all the tabs I had opened.
Please help?You don't need to uninstall Flash Player before installing a new version. Because you install Flash Player everyday, it won't be an update. You are simply installing the version that's already present in your machine.

Running Leopard you can't. What you have is as far as it will go.
Leopard was the last build Mac released that was a "Universal Binary". In other words, it would run on PowerPC or Intel Processors. Once Snow Leopard was released, Adobe stopped deveopment on Universal binary builds of Flash Player.
I know it seems like just another "money grab" by Apple and Adobe trying to force everyone to buy a new Operating System, but the entire industry has moved away from the old Apple architecture and software for it. -

After a Mac update, flash player (along with silverlight) asked to be installed when I tried to watch video content or play games. I installed flash player and it reports being successful and appears in my applications. However, I cannot watch videos or play games, every time I am asked to install flash player again and again and again. I suspect this has something to do with plugins but I am not sure. I have un-installed the program and reinstalled but it still will not work. I check my security settings and it does allow plugins. I erased my temporary internet files. I don't know what else to do. school work required that I disable pop up blockers and all was well until
an update a few weeks ago for both security and operating system. To the
best of my knowledge I am allowing pop ups and plugins but this may be
where the trouble is. I am unsure, honestly of what security is running
besides what I find in the system preference/security tab. Thank you again

I have always just let whatever Apple installer that updates Flash Player do my flash updating. Should I, instead, just always update directly from Adobe whatever the "latest" version of FP is? In the past, Apple seems to include a FP update with either a Safari or Security update. I have no idea if they do not update FP on a more frequent schedule because Apple has not "tested" the latest version.
Also, I have read that it is better to uninstall your current FP before running the current installer, however, the instructions on Adobe's website does not mention that at all.
Any suggestions?

Update via Adobe when you hear of an update, or just check regularly.
The latest version of Adobe FlashPlayer can be obtained from here:

(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):

and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe. -
Update flash player- password issue
Adobe Flash player update is asking for my password which is valid and lets me into my account online, but will not allow me to update Flash Player.....
advice?There is no sign-in password needed for Adobe Flash. However, your computer account's admin password is required to install software.
Did you not create a password for your computer's login account? If not, then you will need to do the following:
