Update Folio Builder

I'm getting a notice on the Folio Builder panel: 'A newer version of Folio Builder is available for download.  Update Folio Builder panel to latest version here.'
I already have the most up to date Folio Builder, why is it asking me to update?

It works!

  • Version 19 Release - Update Folio Builder panel

Digital Publishing Suite released a mandatory update to the Folio Builder panel as well as a new version of the Folio Producer tools. You can view a list of new features here: What's new in this release.
Should you update the Folio Builder panel?
Yes, or you won't be able to use the panel. Note that updating the panel does not affect your version of the DPS tools.
Should you update the Folio Producer tools?
If you're in the last stages of publishing a folio, if you have an important presentation coming up, or if you created a custom viewer using a previous set of tools and don't want to update your viewer app yet, install only the Folio Builder panel.
If you install the new Folio Producer tools and create a folio, you cannot view it in the current Adobe Content Viewer on the iPad (until Apple approves the new version) or with a custom viewer app that hasn't been updated to v19. If you try to open a new folio in an older viewer, a "Please update your app" message appears.
If you have a Professional or Enterprise account, you can use the Viewer Builder to create a custom version of the Adobe Content Viewer so that you don't have to wait for Apple to approve.

  • Problems updating folio builder ID CS6

Hello all. My IT dept and myself are at our wits end--we cannot get ID to update. I opened the Folio Builder pallete and it tells me I need to update. When I attempt to do it from the app, the "update" under the help menu is "grayed out." And also when I download the patch and try it the old-fashioned way, the "manager" that launches says there is an admin issue.
Well, I do not have admin privileges, so my IT dept has logged in--both as an admin account and root--but they have the same issues. We even changed my user account to have admin privileges, restarted and there was no change.
AND, we uninstalled CS6, 5.5, 5 and 4 that were still on this machine. Re-installed CS6 and still no change.
Clearly there is some file/setting somewhere that is confusing InDesign and the updater engine/app.
Any thoughts? We are having the same issue on multiple machines.
    thank you.

  • After update Folio Builder Panel 1.1.3. articles keep on loading

    Hi all,
After updating the Folio Builder Panel as requested (by the panel it self), we are unable to acces any articles. A loading icon keeps on animating and the article-folders stay grey. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
    Looking forward hearing from you.
    Regards,
    Remco van den Hout

The good news, your'e not alone. The bad news... Adobe doesn't really have a fix at this point.
It's a problem where the DPS thinks you are trying to update those articles, and they don't ever get reset to a state of "updated". The only fix I was able to do, unfortunately, was to trash the folios and reupload the whole thing again. It's unclear at this time where the problem was introduced so it might take a while for a fix.
It was a major pain to have to do this stuff over again – but I know that the issue has been documented and they are looking into it.
I recommend you make a sidecar.xml file with all the folio descriptive copy. This way, if you have to do this process another time, you can import the sidecar file and it will populate all of your articles again a lot faster. You might have to still adjust the order in a few cases... but it works pretty well. Info on that here:

  • Updating Folio builder

Is there a way to easily find out which articles in a folio have been updated? It would be good if folio builder worked like the links pallette and you had a little warning sign next to the articles which need updating from local copies.
I've always been frustrated by this and just though I'd ask in case I've been missing something that would save me A LOT of time.
    Thanks in advance.

    There isn't

  • Still error update Folio Builder

Allright, the Content VIewer is approved by Apple.
Still I got the message that I have to update my Folio Builder (MacOSX, Indd CS5.5)
Installing the Folio builder again doesn't have any effect.
How can I solve this problem?

    this is crititcal.
I have the same experience. since this morning, the folio builder panel has a spinning wheel while loading the folios, if I log out, it keeps telling me that there is a new version. this behaviour is new and occured today after machine restart. uninstalling and re-installing both producer tools and folio builder panel got me the spinning wheel again.
I cannot even use this offline.
When I turn off Wifi the folio builder panel still thinks there is a new version.
    someone else experiencing this?

  • I keep trying to update Folio Builder to 2.0 and can't do it.

I have refreshed my browser, used a different browser, but I keep getting version 1.9 and it won't load. I have the new DPS Folio Producer and am logged in there.

You need to clear the browser cache.

  • Folio Builder Panel update error

Tried updating folio tools 3Xs. Keep getting this eror:
A newer version of Folio Builder is available for download.  Update Folio Builder panel to latest version here.
Have quit inDesign, restarted the computer, logged on and still get the error.
    Any ideas?

There was a short amount of time where the link in the Folio Builder panel was redirecting to the old download still, but it should be working now.
You can head directly to http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates.html to get your downloads. Make sure that the file is from November 17th.

  • Folio builder update issue

Was prompted to update folio builder on my Windows 7 PC running InDesign CS5.5. Did so, restarted, launched InDesign and once again was prompted to access folio builder update. Tried it again, same result.
Tried updating both folio producer and folio builder, got the same results.
Still getting the prompt "A newer version of Folio Builder is available for download."
Any ideas on steps to rectify?
    Thx

I found a solution to my problem, which is kind of similar.  Hopefully this can help others who get the update folio builder request, even when its been updated.
I found Indesign CS6 + Folio Builder has some type of glitch on my Windows 7 machine.  If the folio builder window is open when I open Indesign, it will close as soon as Indesign starts up.  When I open the Folio Builder panel it will always ask me to update the folio builder, even though it is fully updated.
The solution for me, is to make sure the folio builder panel is always closed when I close down Indesign.  In this way when Indesign is opened, the folio builder panel does not open automatically.  I then wait for a few seconds after Indesign has fully opened.  Once it's fully open and ready to go, I open the folio builder panel and viola the folio builder panel opens correctly and I'm signed in.

  • Folio Builder Pannel: Cant create 1280px format

Since the new update Folio builder pannel 1.1.9, the pannel gives me an error that I cannot create a folio larger than 1200 ??? What to do...
    Mr. Android

Not only that. We are also having issues when changing properties to a 1232 x 752 publication in the folio builder. We can easily create it, but once you try to modify its properties, like loading thumbnails or changing the folio name, it says "Please enter width and height values equal or less than 1200 pixels". Is this a software error? That size is supported by the builder in the drop down size selector. (See attached screenshot). Please help!
    Thank you,
    Alenai

  • Problem with login in Folio Builder after update to v26

After updating to v26 I can't sign in to Folio Builder. Whan I press «sign in» either in panel or in panel menu, nothing happens.
    Help please!

You can try downgrading to downgrading to older version:
    Mac: http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/dpsdesktoptools/mac/2.06.1/AdobeDigitalPublishingPatch -All.dmg
    Windows: http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/dpsdesktoptools/win/2.06.1/AdobeDigitalPublishingPatch -All.zip
    Update:
If you have cracked (Illegal) InDesign, I wouldn't work. If you don't know, if it is cracked, go to help section and look for Log In and Update buttons, when they are disabled. If they are, you have cracked (Illegal), you need to buy InDesign.

  • No longer able to sign into Folio builder after updating

I just did the update to the Folio builder as indicated in this thread: Announcement (August 16) - Web Service Update
Now I cannot log into the Folio Builder, I amd shown the following message in the Folio Builder Panel:
You do not have a compatible Digital Publishing Plug-in. Click here to download the Folio producer tools.
Which I then did, but still doesn't work.
    Please advise.

You ran the two Folio Producer updates to take DPS to version 1.1.1, yes?

  • Can't sign into Folio Builder. CS6 Recent DPS update. OSX 10.8.6

Can't sign into folio builder with Adobe ID within indesign 6. The sign in window won't even come up. I have updated the most previous DPS tools to no avail. I can access my folios and sign in to the folio builder through browser, but cannot access through program. I've tried a reinstall, deleting the service manager etc.
    Thanks.

I found a work around. Do a complete reinstall of Adobe suite. Update the DPS for CS6. When you first open Indesign CS6 [even before launch] you will be asked for Adobe ID, sign in here and when program opens it should automatically sign you into folio builder and connect with DPS. When they updated DPS I don't think they connected the back end of sign in within the program.
Very frustrating and thankfully I had no hard deadline.

  • Adobe Content Viewer in iPad dont update the contents on mi Folio Builder! Help!

Please, someone have de same problem?!
When i update my folio through the Folio Builder in Indesign 5.5, the Content Viewer in iPad dont update de folio.
In Acrobat.com i see the contents update, but in iPad/Adobe Content Viewer not.
    Why this problem happens?
    Tanks.

As I wrote on another thread (and this was directed at Adobe employees)
"I have been closely monitoring many threads here at DPS (and DPS Private Beta Forums) in the last few weeks, and yes I am new to this particular product group having only been in it since March.  But I wonder if there is some way that Adobe can be made aware of how serious this issue is with Builder and Viewer and tools "not lining up" with Apple.
"To keep putting this problem on Apple is somewhat of a shopworn technique (and I say this with all due respect.). Still, Apple commands fully 80+ % of the tablet market.  They are the big dog.
"Suggestions for the future:  Perhaps there will be a way to choose a tools/viewers workflow at startup -- or to put a bigger "red flag" before installing any update that is not yet supported by Apple.  Approaching this from the engineering side, you may have forgotten just how many disclaimer screens the average designer/production person faces every week!  Many of us don't read them carefully. (Richard Dreyfuss reads them).
"I have nothing but admiration for what Adobe software engineers are trying to do -- and these are nascent times to be sure.  But it certainly seems like this launch is going poorly.
